Had a few interesting finds yesterday. I'll start with the strangest...
http://i707.photobucket.com/albums/ww75/evanwink42/Finds/finds258a.jpg
Nothing odd about these, but that they showed up in my mailbox out of the blue. Turns out they are someone else's rejected Amazon trade-in. They have cracks on the spindle edges and Kart was the 'wrong version'. I figure I'll email Amazon after I post to see what they say.
Why did you get someone else's rejected trade ins?

Loose NES: Excitebike, Incredible Crash Dummies, Little Mermaid, SMB2, Yoshi, and a controller, 1.99 each.
There was also a SMB/DH cart, left that behind. Just as I was grabbing the others, a kid came up, looked to be maybe 10 or so. Said it was a shame that I wasn't grabbing that too, since it was so cool. I said yeah, but I probably already have 6 of them/everybody has them since it was the pack-in game. Then he said "You know it's worth, like, a million dollars..." and I said "well, maybe not *that* much..."

Good question. I have no idea why. It is a mistake on Amazon/Noram's part. I emailed them with the trade-in ID that is on the slip, but they need some number off the package itself now. And want to give me a label to print and bring it somewhere.

Flea Market..
One of the most things I look for today is small motorcycles /as additional race bikes to race at the races I attend.
One of the first things I came across was a huge old dirtbike that was cool but just too big for me to try and get around in the van with all my other bikes(plus change it into a mini motard for paved track racing)
This first thing I bought was a car seat-baby seat combo, brand new for $1.00(for our third child to come..
Dreamcast $5.00 ,,but I bought it for the Gamecube Gameboy Game Player disc inside.
SMS Plug $1.00
3 for $5.00 on the games
I bought the Chinese Pocketbike for $25.00..with my son pushing around on it,it stops people in their tracks, everyone stops to look at it.
Now I used to have a bunch of these but I race the Italian Expensive models but I regret selling the Chinese bikes I had so I said,if I see another I will buy it but it has to be cheap, well this was cheap and I still have a ton of parts for it .. I have a brand new seat and fairing set for it hanging up in my basement..
It’s a project that I will enjoy working on..

...........
Before I left I spotted this Coca Cola Cooler..My wife collects Coca Cola so I bought it for her
.........$30.00
As I was looking at it-getting ready to pay the guy. people were right on it asking to buy it,the guy just put it out..
I humped it on my back and left the market people were stopping me asking where’d I get it..(oh,good buy, good buy)

I found a few things today. A copy of Manos: The Hands of Fate and a copy of the WWII series, "Why We Fight". $3 a piece, pretty good.
I went to a Goodwill today while I was out of town, and it was pretty bad. There was barely anything was on the shelves at all. I did get a copy of Star Reach for $1.50, but that was pretty much it, unless I wanted two copies of John Elway's Quarterback.

Funkotron x2 (one poor one ok)
hyperstone heist (poor)

dinosaurs for hire
super thunder blade
splatterhouse 3
earthworm jim
chaotix (32x)
double dragon 3 the arcade game

First off I found a series of Saturn games at the goodwill store all but 1 being sports related. (this being it)
Found a case that had "Daytona USA Circuit Edition". looked up on ebay what they were going for (this good will had these games at 3 bucks a pop). and saw that this game fetches for 20 bucks and up all day long.
So i was like shit i'll take that... Open the case to check the disc... and sure enough as luck would have it.... there is no disc in there.. But the manual and all that was still there... I passed.
I got this game Black Fire on a guess.. I looked it up and nothing in particular about it really. Couldn't remember if i had it or not. But was like saturn games don't generally pop up here so I had to go home with something. I got it.. and sure enough i actually do have it. So now i have 2 copies  oh well
The next Item. I need your guys help with. I looked it up all over and i can't find hardly anything about it. Its a NES System Cleaner its made by a 3rd party company in 1991 and thats about all I know.
I don't know if theres any value for them or if theres any history behind it or what..
When i saw it i didn't know what the hell it was cause i didn't even realize nintendo made system cleaning kits for the NES (and later super nes and even N64!). I paid 2 bucks for it cause i never seen one so therefore i obviously don't have one!

No real value in the cleaner kits, although I use the ones that utilize an absorbent surface. The ones that are a plastic surface, ugh.

NDS Game Holder - .50
3 Complete Sega Genesis Games - 10
The NDS thing was asking a buck and took .50. The Genesis games were 5 each but took 10 for 3. Quackshot is the pal manual and cart but oddly enough seems to be the US case. I did go out yardsaling 10-15-11 (10 sales total) but it was a wash.
http://img831.imageshack.us/img831/7286/2011smallfinds.jpg (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/831/2011smallfinds.jpg/)
Broken 160 GB Playstation 3 Slim (Not Pictured, System Only) - 30
7 PC Games - 10
NES With Hookups, 2 1st Party Controllers , Zapper & 8 Games (System, SMB/Duck Hunt, Hookups & Controllers Not Pictured) - 20
GBA System With 11 GB/C Games - 25
Old Craigslist finds from the past couple of months. I saw an ad many months ago that said something about having stuff for a yardsale and not having said yardsale because it rained on the day they were going to have it. In said ad they wanted to get rid of everything for one price and in this ad it mentioned a Nintendo system with games and between figuring it would most likely be a GameCube and them wanting to sell everything in one shot I didn't bother. A month or two and a few reposts later I noticed the same ad but with a lower price for everything. They wanted 40 for everything and I finally figured what the hell and asked about the Nintendo, it ended up being an NES and they were open to the idea of selling just that and asked me to make an offer which I did in 20 dollars.
The other 3 were all asking price. I was told the PS3 wouldn't get a picture so I figured I'd take a chance. When I got it home I did get a picture but the system would reset by itself. I had a hell of a time doing so without the system resetting on me but did get it reformatted and working for a while before it started resetting constantly again. I haven't gotten to it yet but looking around online it seems as if it could be a simple fix with the power supply.

Stopped at Half Price Books today and wasn't finding anything in the games or blu-ray's so i moved to the back of the store and their "clearance" corner. Spotted this book and pulled it out to look at it.
http://img847.imageshack.us/img847/8858/dscn0562vl.jpg (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/847/dscn0562vl.jpg/)
Stan Veit's History of the Personal Computer - $1.00
It was priced $12.48, but clearanced for $1.00. Because of the look of the book and the immaculate unread condition I assumed it was some re-print or newer release chronicling the history, but I flipped through it and saw that it covered some of the material I was interested in, like early Atari, TRS-80, Commodore, TI, and Apple so I decided to get it anyway. Doing some quick online research, this is a true first printing from 1993, hardback edition, in perfect, unread, unyellowed condition. The only other hardback versions of this book that i can find on ebay and amazon are currently in the $350.00 - $400.00 range!
Needless to say my wife wants me to sell this immediately! But I want to read it... then sell it :)
If those prices are even close to true demand, this is my best dollar-value find of all time! Posting this also in another thread so I can get opinions on it.

Yes and no.
The thrift shop I go to usually has the controllers/chargers/cords hanging on a peg board over near the TV's (they sell them separately:angry:). I was actually looking through that, and noticed 2 SP chargers hanging the the tangled mess, marked $5. I said to myself "no thanks", but something made me stop and think that, going on previous trips to that store, that the system might be floating around somewhere. Sure enough, they were, one buried under a heap of the nastiest looking NES games that I didn't even wanna touch wearing gloves, and the other mixed in with the camera's and whatnot.
But usually, I very rarely find them with the chargers. However, the weekend flea market at the Fairgrounds has vendors that have piles upon piles of wires/chargers/cables, for usually a buck or less that I find all my chargers/hookups.

I've been lucky the past few months with Amiga stuff. I got a message on another forum that someone local was selling an Amiga 3000 for $100 in the box, and I took it. Also included were a bunch of games and mice, as well as an extra floppy drive.
Compared to my $25 Amiga 4000, it's less of a bargain, but I still think I did well. :)

I found one thing only: A truly mint Mutant League Football, complete with all the inserts and trading cards. For $3.
The seller had a bunch of Saturn and Sega CD games too, mostly racing games. I'm guessing someone beat me to the other games; it's very strange to see stacks upon stacks of sports games in such good condition without seeing other genres...
I checked my collection at VGCollect and I'm definitely missing many of these games... but I'm not too keen on sports and racing games. If I had the money, though, I'd pick 'em up.

Wow, that could be the cleanest Goodwill-found N64 I've ever seen! The last one that I saw was a translucent gray one and you could see tons of PopTart parts in the unit! Looked like they thought the cart slot was a toaster or something!
Well found!
Am I the only one that has a local goodwill that seems to charge a lot for their stuff? They frequently want 20+ for an N64 regardless of condition and games are 5$ a pop, for any system. Now, granted this is a good deal for some games... I picked up harvest moon for the N64 there just the other day :)

Was in Danbury CT for a car meet/show thing this past weekend. Looked on my iphone seeing if there was any game stores/goodwills or whatever to hit up in the area while i was around. And i found a Play n Trade game store. After hearing about these places from you guys and gals i been wanting to check it out. So i went to this one.
They had some SNES's (really nice condition) and genesis's (model 1's) for sale, Saw all kinds of NES controllers. Some i never even heard about. a nice selection of NES, SNES, Genesis games. Had some atari 2600. Even a handful of Odyssey 2 games (few CIB's!)
Didn't bring a million dollars with me so all i picked up were these 2 items. A Game Genie for the Genesis (paid 5 bucks for it and saw they were going for 10+ on ebay so thought i got a alright deal on it.)
Hard Drivin for the genesis (also 5 bucks which seems to be the going rate for a lose copy in alright shape).
I almost went to that show with my buick lol.
Ill be at the lake compounce one in bristol ct on the 6th nov.
I found this week,, an indigo gamecube, nes arcade stick , and the frogger and pac man mini arcade shaped handhelds from the past. havent tried anything but the gamecube (working) so far.

I popped off the battery cover, and this is what I found when I removed the battery...

Bah, finally some good games at Savers, but they've gone all eBay... Super Metroid- 19.99, Ultima False Prophet - 9.99, FF Mystic Quest - 24.99.
I did better elsewhere: NES RBI 2 (unlicensed) for the collection - $3, NES Rescue Rangers - $3
And I also grabbed a Target return FIFA 12 for 360 from Goodwill. A couple questions. 1. It of course has a couple big circumferential scratches, are these usually fatal? They don't look deep, and I can't feel them at all. 2. Is there a way to check if the online pass is used or not? Without a 360? I don't have one, so can't try it that way. I can return it to Goodwill and only picked it up to trade or sell.

Gameshark for GBC - $3
Hercules & Xena Learning Adventure: Quest for the Scrolls (new, complete) - $3
I actually already own that Hercules game, but it's CD only with inserts. I couldn't pass up the chance to get it new for $3. They had a box with twelve copies of it (one for $3, two for $5) and I'd grab 'em all if they were worth something, but they're not...

Neat. I sometimes on accident come across a random Canada game used. Nothing particularly interesting. Got like one or two left I'll probably never get around to play... Odd thing with this Wild Arms 3 is it has the extra booklet yet no French box text, unlike my Fatal Fury Battle Archives 2.

Yeah, that depends on the game. Some games use an identical box to the American version and just shrinkwrap an extra manual on the outside of the box, while others have bilingual boxes. I remember even seeing a few games with super cheap-looking bilingual inkjet-printed paper slipcovers that came over the otherwise identical American box.

Yesterday, I found at a local Goodwill:
http://i186.photobucket.com/albums/x28/TUPPYLUVER95/DSCN0929.jpg
A My First Sony Sketch Pad, in the box with instructions. It's pretty interesting, but it seems to have some problems, the speaker emits noise constantly and it doesn't respond well to the pen, making noise like a when you move it across the drawing surface. Maybe I should try it with batteries, I tried using a universal supply when I got these results. It cost $6.
The Jak 3 manual was $0.75 and in great condition.

FLEA MARKET
HUGE turnout of vendors and patrons..One of the biggest turnouts I’ve seen this year.
Unfortunately the extra vendors were people who came out hoping to cash in too BIG with old stuff and real junk..
Lots and lots of smashed junk today..
I’d listen to prices given for misc. things(junk) and the prices were ridiculously high..
Here’s some of the prices for game stuff.
Two separated vendors.
TRASHED Xbox System.$100.00..no hook ups,,you play it with you thoughts as one person joked..
Dirty Xbox system,no hook ups $100.00 as he was giving me a deal..as it's a rare system..
.....................................
Dirty Xbox system,no hook ups $50.00
Loose old Gameboys $25.00..a bunch of Gameboy games $5-10 loose.(nothing special but all being bought as a teenager bought it all up and got taken bad for being greedy-he didn't haggle...He was clibing over me saying he was going to buy all of it,I moved and said Go For It....looked like he was showing off his spending skills to his girfriend..
NES system with hook ups $40.00.then $35.00 untested..Had thick Packing Tape over it to hold the controllers to the top.:|
Discolored-Brownish Power Pad in Box $20.00
Controllers,trashed-broken all type $5.00 each.
NES system (dirty-stained)$30.00..went to $28.00..Power Supply was 12V,guy had no idea how to hook it up or anything about it,didn’t know the stacks of games to the right of it were for it...Yet he said it was tested working..
I explained the who workings of it to him.
His NES game prices were $5.00 each but I haggled 2 for 5..He was hard pressed to give any breaks but did since I gave him info on what he was selling.
As I walked away two teenagers hit the stacks of NES games like they struck Gold..(back to 5 each.
PS2 systems,$25-30 each, swore that they worked but were trashed and no hook ups..
Common Atari 2600 and common SNES games $5.00 each..
Lots of loose PlayStation systems for $20 a pop
Playstation games $5.00 each
N64..another yard sale type family-small table- hoping to score on old stuff...Sister is arguing with her lil brother who is asking $60.00 for his common N64 Console and a controller..Sis says that the Xbox controller doesn’t go with it and can’t be sold with it,the kid says, well I’ll say it does work on it.
Next table .
Small table of misc. stuff
NES system, clean two controllers...No power supply..I asked for the PS,the lady said she had it but left it home...OK....How much for the system with no Power Supply..$50.00..I slowly walked away..
Will system, just the console untested $100.00
One of the best bargains I saw today was a table with a pile of new type digi and video cameras.$10-15.00 each but though he said they worked, they were really untested-no charge on the internal batteries. and had no power supplies etc..Just seemed to fishy.
He was selling them like hotcakes though.
I did a lot of walking around and digging-asking prices..lots of boxes and bins to look through yet sometimes so much is too much..
..I’d say I ran into a lot of game stuff but everything was so over priced..and I hate when someone clearly lies to me to try and make a sale,I have been doing this too long and that really pisses me off.
When I found a good deal it was like a breath of fresh air..
N64 Controller $2.00
PS2 System $5.00
NES games 2 for $5.00
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v21/Chris1/MASS%20ALBUM%20SEPT%202100/N64games013.jpg
19 N64 games $1.00 each....I thought the guy had them marked wrong as the next table had N64 games with a sign says $5.00 each.
I started to pick out a few then offered the guy $15.00 for the box..
So I got $19 N64 games for $15.00
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v21/Chris1/MASS%20ALBUM%20SEPT%202100/N64games014.jpg
Sadly with such a huge turnout I didn’t find many deals.
My dad actually did better then me today..

3 SNES Games - 5
The Gift of Mogwai (Book & Record, New) - 1
Went to one yardsale the next town over, asked about video games and when I went into details about what kind of older games I'd be interested in Jr suggested and was given the ok from mom to go inside and round up some SNES games they don't play. He came back and they wanted 3 each and I offered 5 for all, he had to check with mom and she didn't want to do that so I offered 5 for the 3 I got. She said I could have all 5 for 10 which I declined on. The games I passed on were FIFA International Soccer & Super Caesar's Palace. On the way home I did an impromptu stop at a yardsale I was passing right by that I've been to before and grabbed the book, didn't bother to haggle since they were raising money for the SPCA.

NES System With 3 1st Party Controllers, Zapper & Generic Hookups & 52 Games - 110
The systems in the crate are from this bundle and the small NES bundle I posted about a week ago. This bundle came with a NES with the smooth texture to the gray of the system shell, the wrong AC Adaptor (but seemed to work ok) & generic A/V cords. This was from an ad on Craigslist from a while back, I can't remember what it said exactly but it either said how many games were included or a rough approximate in probably 50 games and was best offer. I was rather pessimistic with the lazy effort and big expectations you see/hear about so much on Craiglist but shot off an e-mail asking about a list. Got one back and not knowing exactly what others would offer and what kind of ideas the seller may have about what they wanted out of it I offered 110, was told that they wanted to get back in touch with the person that made the first offer (I guess to let them know a higher offer was made and to maybe see if they would best my offer) but ended up getting back to me a day or two later to finalize things. Zelda was actually a surprise as it was found after we made the deal and was added in, I think this was actually 53 games and I'm guessing if so the missing game is a SMB/Duck Hunt.

Some of the G1 stuff is worth quite a bit, some of them were only available through mail order and those ones are worth hundreds now. Of course they're very rare to find.
I try to look up what vintage stuff I should keep an eye out for while checking out yard sales and thrift stores, only reason I know anything about the G1 My Little Pony figures. Another heads up, keep an eye out for Larami Super Soakers. Some models are worth quite a bit now, like $20 and up. I passed on so many of them over the years for around $2-$3 each, now I'm keeping an eye out for them too. I remember throwing out the one I had as a kid, I should have kept it.

Do you mean that if it wasn't a charity sale you would have tried to haggle on it? It was priced at a dollar. I don't know about anyone else but I never try to haggle on things priced that low.

No video game related finds, but I did win something on eBay for a friend of mine, who had been trying to get her hands on one of these for years:
- Apple III computer w\ non-working monitor: $100
She collects old computers, regardless of wither they still work or not (Which this one does work according to the seller; it just needs a new monitor), so when I found this one and had enough money on me, I decided to try my hand and see if maybe I can win it. Surprisingly, I managed to win it without entering a bidding war (Like with my Mac Mini earlier this summer), so once I receive it and clean it up, I'll send it her way.

People collect them, while it's mostly the old ones that sell well it was apparently a recent fashion trend in Japan to have older walkmans around with you so even ones from the 90's were selling well. At least that's what I was told from a local collector who kept buying every Sony one he found to sell on ebay, now he only looks for the older ones as the demand went down for the more recent ones. But really the ones more collectible/valuable are the older ones from the late 70's or early 80's. If you have them complete in the original box they will go for a lot more. Not just Sony models, other high end companies like Aiwa or Toshiba are collectible too. Some models are rarer or more high end than others, those are worth more than basic units.
We're into old games, other people are into music and older music formats. Basically any walkman that was high end to begin with is still worth something today. Even broken ones are worth something to collectors, just to have different models. It's the same thing with early CD players, I found an older portable model from 1985 which I'm keeping, it would be worth around $50-$80 if I decided to sell it. It sounds great and is built strong so I'll be keeping it for sure, it was a really nice find.
Online museum with some basic information.
http://pocketcalculatorshow.com/walkman/
Just more stuff I keep an eye out for, if I only bought games I'd be pretty disappointed with most trips to thrift stores.
