Went to a couple thrifts today but didn't come away with much.

http://i707.photobucket.com/albums/ww75/evanwink42/Finds/6C2C7AC1-orig.jpg

Kirby Air Ride is complete and in nice shape for 6.42 after tax.
SNES ac adapter and a baggie with inks in it was 3 or 4 after tax.

Things I had in my cart and changed my mind on: Leap Frog Iquest 4.0, xBox Advent something, MS Picture It 95, and more I can't remember. It was 25% off day at one of the places, so I was considering more stuff than was really sensible. Also a $20 ($15) bare SNES in nice shape that I almost kept.

Also passed on PS2 Bust a Move (badly scratched), PS2 MGS 2 (no disc), PS1 Scariest Police Chases, couple N64s w/ controllers $30, Atari 5200 w/ power supply!!! $35 (would of got this if I didn't have one and/or could have tested it), Gamecube, PS1, etc. Was actually pleasantly surprised at the amount of game stuff I saw, though as you can see it was mostly kind of high for me. The Savers where the Kirby came from now has a glass case packed full of games that have been there for weeks, and all overpriced unless I missed a gem. Makes me wonder if they keep re-doing the stickers so they won't ever hit 50% off, or if they are just priced that crazy high even for people who aren't super cheap like me. Personally, I don't think I'd get many of them even at 50% off, but people usually seem to buy games even when they are too high. Or maybe the people are too high so they buy the games.

This afternoon I stopped off in a thrift and picked up a sealed Apple MobileMe packet, that still has its Apple Store $99 price sticker on it, for 75¢ after tax. I'm not sure if I can actually use this, but for 69¢ it was worth a shot. I know Apple's changed its service to iCloud, but anybody know if I can still use this (maybe after some kind of conversion to iCloud)? I don't especially have much use for it, but it'd be kind of cool to fool around with anyway.

PS3 remote sealed $4
Splinter Cell: Fallout novel $1.50
Halo: The Flood novel $1.50
Halo: First Strike novel 50 cents
Metroid: Other M(Wii) $5
Kingdoms of Amular: Reckoning(360) $10
Sin & Punishment: Star Successor(Wii) $5
Modern Warfare 3(360) $20
Capcom Vs. SNK(DC) $3
Super Mario All Stars(Snes) $3

I actually got overcharged for the novels because the cashier rung them up as softcovers instead of paperbacks and I wasn't paying attention until I got home. The PS3 remote, SMAS and Capcom Vs. SNK were also from Goodwill. Everything else was from Best Buy, a mixture of their current summer gaming blowout sale and their gamers club special offers. Nothing like getting current gen AAA games for cheap. Speaking of which....

http://i494.photobucket.com/albums/rr306/THE-1-2-P/GEDC1692.jpg

Just Dance 3(360) $10
Socom 4(PS3) $10
Infamous 2(PS3) $10
Devil May Cry 3 manga 50 cents
The Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind(Xbox) $3
Biohazard 4(GC) factory sealed $30

The PS3 and 360 games are also from Best Buy. I found the DMC manga and Morrowind at Goodwill. This is the third copy of Morrowind I have found in the last two months. I guess it's replaced KOTOR as the most common rpg I find. And Biohazard 4 was snagged online.

It's on sale until Saturday. You can also order it online and have it shipped to your local store, which is what I did to beat the crowds.

What is the difference between a softcover and a paperback?

The 1 2 P
07-26-2012, 11:15 PM
According to most Goodwill's rules the paperbacks are smaller. Thats it. I even bought one of the larger Halo paperbacks from there before and even though I showed them where it said "paperback" on the back of the book they still charged me the softcover price. But essentially all paperbacks have softcovers but not all softcovers are paperbacks.

I cleaned up a bit on that sale. I snagged a pair of Wappydog games for me and the girls. I also picked up Pilotwings and Steel Diver for $5 each as well as a few of the $1.99 DS/3DS/PSP accessories. :)

I'm debating on whether or not to get some of the UDraw Wii games that have been discounted. I suppose I have till tonight to decide.

a few of the $1.99 DS/3DS/PSP accessories. :)

The only things I wanted and didn't get were the 2 gb and 4 gb PSP memory sticks because they were sold out at all my local Best Buys(all 6 of them) and there was no shipping for them at all, even when the sale went live at 1 am. But despite that bit of bad luck I too cleaned up quite nicely. I'm glad I'm not the only one that knew about this and took advantage of all the sales.

On a related side note, I got to pass on alot of stuff(Deus Ex, Gears of War 3, Resistance 3, Assassins Creed: Revelations, etc) because the prices they were offering were the same prices I had already gotten many of those games for, some at Best Buy several months ago.

There's a local mom and pops video store in burlington vt that I keep being told has old game stuff and I should check it out.

Well found nothing at the local good wills, When I got around too it another new personal favorite hunt spot (basically a pickers antique store called Junktiques) was just closing so didn't really have time to look through. The thrifts were closed. So thought what the hell lets give it awhirl.

The guy has some good stuff. A mint Atari 2600, a mint NES, Mint v2 Genesis, But the thing I didn't like about it is everything was obviously priced based on ebay so womp womp. And most of his games he had left were either stuff I already had or crappy sports titles. But I did find one that escaped his ebay price crazyness and I also don't have.

http://i226.photobucket.com/albums/dd158/car_show_fan/carshows2/IMG_0426.jpg

Nothing crazy but I don't have a sega compilation game cart so this was cool for me. Super Hang on, World Championship Soccer, Colums 3 in 1 cart. 95 cents.

Saturday I wasn’t able to go anywhere..no flea market hunting for me..
None one I know went either so I wasn’t able to hear about what people I knew found or passed up..

Sunday I hit several Garage sales ..of nothingness..

Later I hit a small Flea Market to go visit a friend vendors.meet up with a friend picker for trades and repair pick ups.
My friend picked up a Wii system with a bunch of hook ups, accessories and several games for $5.00 at a garage sale..He sold one of the games for $20.00 already..

I do repairs on game systems so below is what I picked up to repair..plus a dead nes plug
if a system is TOAST I use it for parts,I wish I knew what makes a SNES have bad or no video.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v21/Chris1/2012%20PICTURE%20ALBUM/FLEAMARKETJULY2012036.jpg

My friend picked up a large lot of manga books he gave me these to sell as they are 1-13

It’s going to be in a sale thread here once I get a chance to make one.

PS2 system $10.00
NES games $1.00 each..for ebay..I may list a huge lot of NES games one of these days.
SNES Final Fantasy ...$5.00 for ebay
SMB 2 (nice) in box..$5.00 for ebay
SNES sports Game in box $3.00 for ebay
Xbox Games 2 for $5.00 for Ebay..
PS FF7 for ebay
CD holders FREE
Lock set Free missing screws..
Computer MAC OS software in case..a return to me to sell from my friend.

Xbox 360 games for me..$12.00 for the Two..

Rock Band Parts..given to me as an owe=for a Wii ROCKBAND WIRELESS FENDER STRATOCASTER GUITAR and game I bought...Problem is,this Rock Band Receiver Dongle is for PS3 ,it’s black and does not work with my Wii guitar..So I bought a Wii Rock Band Receiver Dongle on ebay today for $8.00 shipped hoping it works with my guitar.... and I plan to sell this PS3 Rock Band Receiver Dongle with it’s parts..The problem is: seems no ebay seller who sells these can tell me if they work with any ROCKBAND WIRELESS FENDER STRATOCASTER GUITAR ..per system it was made for..The frequencies should be different.(?)

Here's some stuff that I have found over the past month.
http://img43.imageshack.us/img43/6603/12580964.jpg
NES AC Adapter $1 Super Mario Bros Wii $3 PS2 Controller $3.
The manual is all torn up on Mario but still a good price regardless.

http://img191.imageshack.us/img191/9156/46522875.jpg
Wacky Races GBC $3 Pokemon Silver $6 Ice Age Continental Drift $17
Legend of Heroes II $4 Toejam and Earl $2 Wavebird Controller $3
As expected, Pokemon Silver's battery is dead (matches nicely with my Pokemon Gold cart :p). There has been some talk about replacing the Ram chip to one that doesn't require the battery so I'll probably look into that.
No receiver on the Wavebird; looked all over the store.

http://img685.imageshack.us/img685/4025/75667319.jpg
Quake III Arena $2. Nice tin case, not sure of the actual going rate compared to crazy eBay BIN's but not bad for $2 I figured.

http://img14.imageshack.us/img14/9440/15924237.jpg
Super Wrestlemania $2 G-loc $4 Shadow of the Beast II $4
X-Men $4 Shadow Dancer $4 Jungle Strike $4 Phantasy Star III $4
All CIB (more or less; no X-Men poster and no map in Phantasy Star III, if it ever came with one) except no manual with Shadow of the Beast II.

$5.50 at an Out of the Closet thrift. I managed to remove a clear Blockbuster shield from the disc with only a small amount of residue left behind.

Real Canadian Superstore had a "tax-free day" (you pay no tax on purchases), so I grabbed this:

Sonic Generations for $29.99 (New) - I've been having no luck tracking down a used copy for a decent price, and I missed out on the $20 price that a few places were selling it for. That, and new, sealed copies are becoming scarce in my area.

I've been tracking down some of the rarer Wii games through GameStop.
If you are in good standing with your local store, you could try asking them if they can have a game shipped to their store from another location.
From there, it is just a matter of checking online for copies of the game by searching in populated cities (New York, Boston, etc).
You can call the stores that have them and ask for a description of the item condition and completeness.
If they agree to ship it, your local store can call that store and place the order.

Are there any other Wii games that could be considered truly 'rare' by quantity?

Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus. That version isn't even on their website. Perhaps GameStop didn't carry the game new.

As for foreign games (if you can play them), One Piece Unlimited Cruise Double Pack was exclusive to Germany. Strange...

Oh, and I also tracked down Dokapon Kingdom for Wii and Wild Arms: Alter Code F for PS2 through GameStop.
Had to call like 15 stores to find a complete copy of Wild Arms. Every time, the employee on the phone would let out a sigh.
The PS2 section is a graveyard of disorganized clutter. I had to hold quite a few times.

I've heard F1 2009 for Wii might be rare because it was a GameStop exclusive and didn't sell all that well.
It looks like 'new' prices for Guilty Gear XX Accent Core Plus are still rather down to earth with the standard $50 rate.

Yes, especially if you still have the case and manual.
Most GameStops are throwing those out now, so any copies that end up there are likely to be gutted.
Both the DS and Wii version were released in limited quantities in select markets around the U.S.
By most accounts, they made about 20,000 of each.

No Game Finds But yesterday I decide lets walk (the whole family)to the post office to ship packages,it might be a mile walk ..great exercise.

what I forgot is it’s crap day, people throw out bulk crap besides regular garbage cans..this could be eveything from entire living rooms, arcade machines"soda machines" etc.

Though Illegal on This day in this town people go hunting for free shit on the side of the road..I have cashed in on found stuff sold on ebay on this crap day but I don't have the time or means to go searching around.

I cashed in on finding free stuff that I sold on ebay doing the very same walk to the post office on this day.
..
As soon as I hit the corner I see a big old picture..it looks valuable but has marks on the front..my wheels are turning, can I sell it..It looks like an old picture of a country background..the corner damage looks to have to be professionally repaired..ahh to big I pass..this painting/picture sat out on that corner all day with no pickers..(on a main ave)

Next to it is a big old trunk..it’s huge,I didn’t even bother to open it..next to it a bin,on top a white extension cord..Ding,free extension cord for me..other misc wires in the bin I don’t take, great for scrapping but lots of work to do that..

We go to the post office and on the way back I pitch another look..I open the trunk and it is filled with around 60 OLD-dusty Lionel Trains..OMG!! I thought I hit the mother load of trains I flip the first one up and it’s all empty boxes(lined up neatly like a trick)..Ok,these boxes due to their age are worth something though they looked to had been in a real dirty environment (flood water-with silt)..Just a lot of work and a lot of nastiness ..I flushed through the top layer of boxes and every box looked empty..my wife hates me garbage picking but she also knows how I have made money off other peoples junk..She says "did you look to see if any of the boxes on the bottom were filled"...UGH...no,no because the boxes are too dirty and I'm wearing a white shirt LOL....I feel the collector was storing the boxes in the trunk in his basement and during flood irene they got wet as his house would be in deep being right next to the creek that overflowed... that same creek flooded my basement..(I know who the owner of the house is,he has a Harley)

As I close the trunk a lil SUV pulls up,a picker couple they start looking in the trunk and I bet you they shit too..I felt weird as heck with them digging behind me so I started walking, but as I walked I noticed in another box I move the top layer of crap and I get,a whole brand new pack of nails,a harley davidson braided spark plug wire unused-worth 40 bucks or so... a hard hat that I left due to signs of use..and a quality multi bit screw driver set..=who the heck throws stuff like this out”and what did I miss out on..
As I was talking about the unusual stuff to my wife: who know what was out there before, maybe the guy died, got killed,in jail cheated on his wife..I mean who throws out tools..the guys bike might had been out there earler..

While loose copies have gone for $20-30 on eBay, I haven't seen a complete one.

I bought three things today:

Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle Earth (DVD version, PC)
The Blue Moonies (CD, new)
Terra Nova: Strike Force Centauri (PC CD, complete)

All from the same seller for a dollar each. The guy had several sealed copies of The Movies (PC) and other random games but I wasn't sure if the game was worth much of anything so I left them behind. I thought Terra Nova would be worth a bit since it's a Looking Glass Studios game (you know, the System Shock guys) but nope! Worthless. I'll probably stash it in my closet.

Battle for Middle Earth is complete and I'll be reselling it on eBay. The Blue Moonies... well, it's a band from California, and this CD is a year old. That's about all I know, I haven't opened it yet.

heh, I just passed up a copy of middle earth myself yesterday, is it any good?

It was raining a bit today so the crazy vegas heat was cooled down a bit, so I decided to do a bit of thrifting. found some random gijoe and ninja turtles at savers and was about to go home , but I decided to go check out salvation army since it's on the way home, they rarely have anything but this time was different!

there was a large bin filled with gaming stuff (and a few keyboards on top) for the range of 1-2$ each I found all this:

http://www.green-ranger.com/twitter/finds%20july2012.jpg

I also found the Dreamcast on a shelf with no price, they ended up selling it to me for 3$ (with the av cord!) had nba2k inside and the system works like a champ after a little cleaning. Overall a good day for me.

Thanks for mentioning BFME. I decided to dig mine out of the closet that I bought at Goodwill for $15 some many years ago. Looks like it has appreciated quite well.
