Been a lil busy with life related things. But finally after 52 hours of game play i finally beat the game. (phew).

Very long. Very much the same as the first game. Interesting characters with much of the same characters. Really cool easter egg content like the minecraft area. Ever wanted to see a giant creeper? There ya go.

The story was pretty good actually and actually behind all the pop culture style comedy this game throws at you theres some pretty messed up stuff.

The graphics were good for what they were. Some silly glitches with the vehicle and I came across a few game breaking glitches which luckily a restart in the game itself fixed. The only really stupid aspect of the game is the second chance.. I mean yeah it saved my ass a couple times but only because I played commando and had a turret to fight for me while I was down to give me second wind. Otherwise your fighting in the dark which is just stupid. Why is it even there if thats what you give me?

Anyways all in all good game. fun.. long and moving. 4/5

I initially didn't like it, but it grew on me as I played. Castlevania's tend to not translate well into 3D, but, all in all, I think this played rather well. Does have a somewhat steep learning curve, but it's not extreame.

I had a chance to play this back in the day over an emulator, but I never put much time into it. What a sad mistake that was, this is a great entry into one of my favorite series. Much improvement over the first GB entry, although the inclusion of link trade only items is rather sad. I don't think this game sold well enough in the US for that to be fair.

Just beat Super E.D.F. on the ol' SNES. I was pleasantly surprised by this game - while it's not the most polished, balanced or inspired shooter out there, I very much dig the variety of weaponry, the progressive power-up system and what is at times a frantic, high tension pace. God damn, was this thing a challenge in spots! Among the most enjoyable shmups on SNES, for sure.

7. Final Fantasy IX (PS1) - I took so long to beat this one (playing a few hours every couple years -- starting back around 2001) that I don't remember most of what happened in the game. Seems like it's already time to start playing it over again. Pretty short game, beat it in around 35 hours or so, and I didn't even understand the game's systems for most of that time (wasn't paying attention). Great design and music though.

8. Chip-chan Kick! (PC-FX) 7/20

Now this is exactly the kind of game I needed. No nonsense, short but sweet, starts off deceptively easy yet offers enough action to get your blood pumping as it goes along, striking the perfect balance between challenging enough that you're going to have to practice but not unfairly difficult or cheap. Or at least that's how Chip-chan Kick! was on all the default difficulty settings, no idea about Easy or Hard mode. I can see how some people might be disappointed after dropping 100 bucks on it, considering it's over so fast and doesn't offer a lot of frills (it is an arcade-style game, after all), but I really enjoyed myself and plan to replay it in the future.

Final Fight 2(SNES)
U.N. Squadron(SNES)

For Final Fight 2, it was just me and my brother having some fun today. Played a little Ranma 1/2 Hard Battle, then some Super Tennis, then some Final Fight 2. Final Fight games are so fun to just pop and and bash away. It's a shame Capcom made Streetwise and then actually said the series is dead after that. To me, they are some of the better and more memorable games of that era.

U.N. Squadron, we had it as kids and I thought I had beaten it back then, but was not entirely sure. Well, no doubts now. Finished it a while ago. Such a great game and often overlooked. Something that surprised me was that the game really didn't have much of an issue with slowdown, except for some of the really intense parts, primarily the boss battles. I love how this game carved it's own niche as far as progression and weapons go. I also liked how the 3 pilots you can choose between had their own strengths and personalities. I didn't know the game was based on an anime until a few years ago and playing it now has got me wanting to check it out.

17. Assassin's Creed 2 (PS3) HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
This was such an incredibly great game! They took all the good parts of the first game and made them better, disposed of all the annoying parts, and added a lot of brand new features that just works perfectly! In addition, the story is just outright fantastic! And while I haven't played all the games, from what I hear I think it's safe to say that if you're only going to play a single Assassin's Creed game, this is it!

18. Assassin's Creed Brotherhood (PS3)
Now, this game might not be as good as AC2, but it's certainly a really good and enjoyable game. It's a bit slower paced and more laid back. Some of the features made me feel like I was playing a Sim City version of Assassin's Creed. It felt just slightly out of place, even though I still really enjoyed it. Absolutely worth playing through if you enjoyed AC2 as it directly continues the story of Ezio, and is also still a great game.

19. Metal Slug 4 (PS2) HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
I had not played any games in this series until now, but I'm really glad I did! Played this through together with a friend, and we had a bunch of fun! The only downside to it was that the game was incredibly short. But hey, I guess it's a good thing when you just want more! Guess I'll have to get the rest of the games in this series, now.

The music is great too. Hopefully my brother will be by this weekend and I can try it out against another player.

Looking at the games I've beaten in 2013 for the NES only would include.....

TMNT II: The Arcade Game
Ninja Gaiden 2
Super Mario 1 & 3
Crystalis
Star Tropics
The Legend of Zelda
Astyanax
Kung Fu
Air Fortress
A Nightmare on Elm St.
Contra
Double Dragon II

I'm working on couple of others but its tough when non NES consoles are thrown into the fray. I will list the ones I beat for other consoles at a later date.

Resident Evil 6 - PS3 - Leon & Helena campaign multiplayer. Solid game chaotic as hell which I loved time to play through the other campaigns now.
WWE Day of Reckoning 2 - GameCube - finally got past Kurt Angle in a submission match after that it was smooth sailing to the title at Wrestlemania 21. On a side noteWrestleMania 29 is 21 days away.
Die Hard Vendetta - Gamecube - A nice look at the history of a FPS. Auto aim and auto jump were absolute musts as the C stick was insanely sensitive. A solid game for anyone who is a Die Hard fan like myself, for anyone else pass it up.
Split Second - PS3 - I am pretty excited for Driveclub so to hold me over I purchased this cheap racer and enjoyed the hell out of it. The more chaos a racking game has the better and this game does not lack chaos at all.

20. Kim Possible: What's the Switch? (PS2)
I don't have any other knowledge of Kim Possible; Haven't seen the TV series or anything before. But this game was a lot of fun! It plays like a solid platformer/beat 'em up, and you take on the roles of Kim Possible and Shego, switching between them throughout stages, plus playing some parts as a naked rat, as they hunt down the villains who stole the ancient Monkey Idol. They need to get it back not only to stop the villains from unleashing their evil and destructive plans on the world, but also to switch back the minds of their male sidekicks. The only thing I didn't like about this game is that they have got ambient noises in a couple of stages that is a bit too noisy, so to speak. But other than that, this is a great game!

It's taken me awhile to beat my latest game, just because I've been tied up in so much tv/movie viewing lately. So I just beat Black Ops II and it has one of the most bizarre endings of all time. If you don't like spoilers stop reading now. Anyway, it has three different endings. The first takes place immediately after you beat the last level. A second ending kicks in after some very long credit scrolls. And then the third ending kicks off after some more long credit scrolls that start once the second ending finishes. In this last bizarre ending you watch the main villian, who's secretly still alive even though I killed him in my game(you are given the choice to kill him or let him live), converse with one of your allies, before being the guitarist in a Avenged Sevenfold concert. During this concert(a full song plays) many of your team mates and superiors thru out the game can be seen on the dance floor shaking their money makers. And that includes the President of the United States. Definitely deserves a mention for one of the goofiest ending ever.

Also known as "Crusader of Centy," this game is a very cool "Zelda clone." Apart from the graphics and general gameplay, it does stand out on its own. It's got its own gameplay elements, a different puzzle logic, and even music and storyline, all of which sets it apart from its SNES competitor and inspiration. The story revolves around a fourteen year old boy who starts his training to eventually become a hero serving his king and country. But soon after he loses the ability to understand and talk to other humans. On the other hand, he gains the ability to understand and speak with animals, flowers, and monsters. And so he must go on a quest to regain his ability to speak with other humans.

Along the way you befriend different creatures. These creatures basically act like items that you can equip. You can have a maximum of two creatures active at any one time, and they all give you special abilities. For example, you get a dog that can bite an enemy and hold it in place, so it can't move from the spot, you get a cheetah that makes you move twice as fast, and you get a penguin that adds its ice magic to your sword. There are also several combinations of creatures that will unlock special abilities as well.

The music is a bit hit or miss, with some songs that just works well and others that quite simply don't. The game is very light hearted, and often flat out comical. Despite this, the story is actually anything but, and comes with a moral lesson. Sadly, the game pretty much slaps you in the face with the moral instead of being a little bit vague about it, which I found to be a bit annoying. The story is also heavily inspired by Christianity, and I personally felt it was a little bit too much - but that's my personal opinion, and nothing else.

The English translation was obviously not handled very well. It was as if no one bothered to proof read anything before shipping the game. And the game also ended with a loose end - nothing big, but basically an early plot device that they just simply forgot about when it wasn't needed anymore.

Overall it's a good game. It has its flaws, but for anyone who wants to play a game similar to "The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past," but with enough difference that it doesn't feel like a rip off, this is certainly a game to check out! Sonic, the gallant hedgehog, also makes a cameo appearance in this game, sunbathing at the beach.

22. Metal Slug 3 (PS2) HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
I got to play through this in co-op with my younger brother, and it was a blast! It is the second Metal Slug game that I play, and I was certainly not disappointed, with my high expectations from Metal Slug 4. This game was actually even whackier than its sequel, something I enjoyed a lot! These games are just pure fun, and great co-op games! I was also surprised when the character I was playing got abducted, and I had to play as a different character to go save her! That was certainly not something I had expected!

Took a little bit to get into, but overall a fun game. Although, I was disappointed with the lack of polish on a few points. 8/8: Red Dead Redemption (PS3)

I had not played Red Dead Redemption (or as I like to call it: Grand Theft Horse) in about a month. I have a nasty habit of getting too many games at once then not playing them for so long a period of time that I have forgotten the controls or even where I left off! I had been playing it pretty intensely over the last few days and was quite glad at reaching the end. I still have some little things to do (there's always jobs and side quests to do in those games!) but the story itself is done. I was surprised but not disappointed by the ending. Certainly worth playing...especially since most places have the Greateast Hits or Game of the Year editions for $19.99!

Im hooked on Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 that anytime I have gaming its on this game. The only game I can think of is Resident Evil 6. That was a great game. I guess that shows that reviews are just that and aren't a fact. So much hatred for this game. Red Dead Redemption I started playing I think earlier this year but the travelling from where you got to go is tedious so I just gave up for now.

Finished Bioshock (XBOX 360) last month, replayed for the first time since I originally bought it new. What a gorgeous, atmospheric game. Always spectacular. Now I'm playing Infinite so we'll see how I like it once I get it finished this week.

Beat The Legend of Zelda: Windwaker (GC) in February, never had actually finished it before and it was a blast. One of my favorites for sure.

Also replayed Super Metroid in June, on the SNES, not the Virtual Console. Completed it 100% which is a first for me. Next time I need to try a speedrun.

Yeah been busy with life stuff and working and all that stuff. But hey i beat bioshock finally.

Bioshock was unique. Really cool art style that has a like arco deco kinda style to it (like 1930s or so). With a unique feel of what if a entire city was built under water.
You play a character who in a plane wreck who finds a bathysphere by a light house in the middle of a ocean that takes him to this underwater city called rapture. The city although it seems like a fantasy take on NYC at the time seems so secluded from the rest of the world given its unique location. The people who designed this world went into great detail it seems to make it seem like it actually is possible to do this on this scale through the way it looks and works.

The graphics are really good for when this game came out. The sound is really good. using era music and sounds and sights and all to make you feel like you truly stepped back in time!

The story is very interesting. Dumps you in with no detail on whats going on and you slowly figure out what really is going on as you progress.

There is a really unique plot twist which i won't reveal that I will tip my hat to the writer for this game.

The ending is however very short and sweet but doesn't grasp on the hell you went through to get there.

The game is quite difficult I feel. Although not as hard as Metro it still holds its grounds in difficulty. It has a very limited helping to ammo just like metro. But unlike metro you can buy it all over the place. Metro you have to wait till you get a certain shop point. this game also has limited money to use but not as limited as metro once again. But the idea to keep in mind just like metro you will die alot and there will be alot of trial and error. But one thing that kinda quirked me was the fact you would respawn in certain locations usually nearby where you died with enemies having the exact amount of health you left them with when they killed you. Very similar to Dead Island which if you go back to when i reviewed that game on last years thing I cared less about that feature. But........ with this game being so damn hard I am gonna make an exception to it.. Also one thing this game does that metro does not do (thank god for that) is that it respawns enemies over time.... Which i hate. They are already hard to first time around. Why the hell do I wanna beat them again?

I am gonna give it a 4/5

I've been playing this off and on since I got it a few years ago in a Steam holiday sale. I'm generally not a fan of shumps or whatever people call these types of games now. But it's fun, simply fun. It's also given me more of a reason to expand my on harddrive music collection and find a better controller for my laptop.

Lately I have been spending most of my time on my PS1 and N64 entries while poking at the others every once in a while. I decided to write my detailed completion progress. I am going for 100% runs whenever I can. Some games I am a bit more picky about wanting to finish with all characters separately. Usually when the games are too short or too fun not to. Like I could count Tuff E. Nuff for SNES as an already beaten game as I've beaten it on all modes using Syoh, but I want to totally master the game and make myself beat the game using the harder to control Vortz.

It took longer than I would've liked, but I finally finished Final Fantasy V via Final Fantasy Anthology last night, which puts me only one game away of accomplishing my goal set many years ago to beat every Final Fantasy game released before Final Fantasy VII in order. I chose Final Fantasy VII as the cut-off point because that was the very first numbered Final Fantasy game I ever beat, and since I didn't enjoy it very much, I wanted to go backwards and beat all the older games to hopefully understand why the series is so immensely popular. I have to admit, I still haven't been wowed by any of the numbered Final Fantasy games I've beaten, but I did enjoy FFV a slight bit better than 1-4 (and 7, obviously).

Got around to completing Portal 2 (Windows, normal difficulty) after a long while. It's interesting although pardon the co-op I was surprised there wasn't more content available after completing the game. Not that I ever did any of the more challenging puzzles in Portal 1, but still would've been something worth investigating in the future meaning, only Portal 1 in this case.

Cleared all four acts of Diablo 2, Paladin, on Normal recently as well but I installed the Lord of Destruction expansion and will post more once I've cleared act 5. Been a slow year so far.

I know this is the Classic Gaming section, but earlier this year I beat Sleeping Dogs for the PS3. What a great game. I would highly recommend this greatly under appreciated Square Enix game. It is very reminiscent of Just Cause, but the vehicles are much easier to control. :)

Mario Kart 64 - N64 [got gold on all 50cc cups + 100cc Mushroom & Flower cups as Mario]
Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom - PS3 [on 1st playthrough Easy Mode as Warrior]

Beyond the Beyond is one of my top favorites - where it lacks in story and hand-holding directions on where to go I find the combat to be very entertaining as you have to keep on your toes and use good strategy to survive instead of always choosing "fight, fight, fight, fight, fight" to win. Vandal-Hearts has a really good story and getting each level just right with no character deaths, all enemies defeated and all items found requires a lot of in battle saves and sometimes spending a good half hour to an hour on most levels. Yoshi's Story is a good platformer and can be either easy or hard depending on how you set your goal for getting a high score or not caring about the score at all. Finding all three hearts can be tricky on some levels.

Cute, easy to play, fun. Puns get a tad much after a while and it's normally crazy overpriced for what you're getting. If you happen to see it on sale for under a dollar, may as well pick it up. Could do a lot worse for a dollar.

Cleared Metal Gear Solid The Twin Snakes, normal difficulty, on GameCube today. Got the lowly Hyena rank although it could've been worse. Took a little while to get used to the controls and even the MGS conventions as it's been a long time since I last played a 3D MGS game. Overall it was alright although personally I don't like the humourous aspects added to the game by Silicon Knights. No matter, back to Lord of Destruction.

23. Cognition: An Erica Reed Thriller, Episode 3 (PC)
This series is just becoming better and better by the episode! This time there's some new gameplay elements that just puts a big twist on everything, including how you need to think when solving puzzles! Very cool!

I was actually also one of the play testers on the alpha for this a few months back, which was a great experience. But we only played up to a certain point, so I only knew what went on for about a little more than half the game, I'd say.

24. Far Cry 3 (PS3)
I don't play a lot of FPS game, but this was good. Over hyper, but good. It wasn't afraid to try and push some boundaries with story telling and creativity in FPS games, and it's certainly a genre that needs better story telling and more creativity in general! So I'm certainly giving it a plus for that! Certainly worth playing through once or twice.

25. Simon the Sorcerer (PC)
So here's a classic that has been on my "to play" list for way too many years! And I've got to say, I loved it! Everything from shaving a dwarf's beard to watching the bridge troll on strike, it was just tons of fun! And oh, got to love it when the game breaks the fourth wall!

Just beat Sweet Fuse on Ayumu Shirabe's path. I wonder if this is the fastest I've ever beaten a game after its release date. Probably not, but still, it only just came out on the 27th and my copy didn't even arrive until the 30th. The story was dragging just a wee bit in the early chapters/stages, but once I got locked in on a specific character's path and the mysteries really started to appear and unravel, it was hard to put it down. This is only just scratching the surface, though. With these kinds of games, it's really best to play every path to get the full picture. Especially with this game as there are still lots of questions left unanswered.

Anyway, I made it through 54 levels + 1 of the secret levels on the default difficulty. Didn't seem nearly as difficult as it was when I was younger.

I feel bad for abandoning you, Final Fantasy V... but it was worth it!

For some reason I kept putting off playing this game until the last few weeks. I think Retro did a great job on the game, as it captures the feel of the original pretty darn well. The shaking of the controller for rolling, ground-pounding, and blowing was not exactly ideal, but I thought it worked pretty well and didn't have any issue with it. I also liked the challenge, though a few spots felt kinda cheap. By far the hardest points in the game were the flying, or should I say "barrel blasting", portions of the game. Anyways, it's got me pumped for the new one on Wii U.

In the last few months i completed Castlevania Aria of Sorrow for GBA, and did the whole farming for souls thing to get em all, and now i am working my way through Dawn of Sorrow for DS.... gotta love those Metroidvania titles!!

I also finally completed a title in the Final Fantasy series, FF9 for PS1. Over the years i've tried countless times to actually finish an FF title (tried 6, 9 and 10), and recently it finally happened, destroyed Kuja and Garland and that crazy tree and all that, and it was pretty awesome i must say!! To be honest though it did become slightly monotonous, probably because i am one of those types who poke around the scenery of every screen of every game i play, especially RPGs, to experience those random/weird NPC moments and get items. There's certainly lots of background-poking in FF9, but overall the fact that it was my first Final Fantasy game, i think it was a pretty decent intro to the series. I'll probably start FF7 or FF8 next, after i finish Alundra for PS1. There's jus something that feels "correct" about the combo of RPG and PS1....

27. The Longest Journey (PS2) HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
This is one of my favourite games ever! And certainly my favourite adventure game! The game has got an amazing storyline, with lots of interesting sights to explore, which again is inhabited by many intriguing characters! It manages to balance the heavy plot elements perfectly with comedy; While generally having a deep and serious story, it's also light hearted at times, and at other times just plain funny, often with a healthy dose of satire included.

The Longest Journey certainly lives up to its name, for being really long for a point & click adventure game, and for taking you on a journey that spans not only one, but two worlds! In addition to all the physical places you go, there's also a journey of self discovery for the main character.

The game is wonderfully written, the 15 year old prerendered graphics still holds up, and the music is fantastic as well! It's just as magical to play through this game every time I do so!

30. Saints Row: The Third

I'm conflicted on this one. I initially played this shortly after finishing Sleeping Dogs and the difference between the games is night and day. Both are mission based sandboxes, but whereas Sleeping Dogs is a fairy well put together ordeal with an engaging story, Saints Row 3 comes off as the complete opposite. Initially, I wrote it off as not worth my time. I decided to get it another try. I did adjust to the rather wonky controls and the story did get much more interesting as it went on. But by and large the game is just a big pile of what the fuck is going on. And...I'm not sure if it's too it's credit or not. I can at least that I'm glade I gave it another try, but as to if I actually liked it or not........I know I didn't hate it and I'm going to leave it at that.

9. DOOM (PS1) - Completed on "Hurt me plenty" difficulty. Completed Ultimate DOOM levels on Ultra Violence difficulty, I'll get back to DOOM II later levels later.

10. Virtua Racing (via Sega Classics Collection, PS2) - After a false start (heh) due to a file save corruption bug, I beat grand prix mode, unlocking all the bonus cars. Don't remember my exact final pts. tally, but it was somewhere around 266/300. That city course can go to hell! Loved the game, though, definitely worth owning the collection just for this title alone!

28. Demolition Girl (PS2)
Well, what can I say? It's not a great game. Controls are not always great, and the game is short. The intro and ending both lack any sound whatsoever. But even so, controlling tanks, helicopters, and jets to take down a rampaging, Godzilla sized, well endowed, bikini wearing, alien controlled, pop idol, teenage girl certainly was an experience in itself! :p

Recently beat Pikmin 3, which I loved and was the first good Wii U game I've played. Also I finally sat down and played through Mario and Luigi: Partners in Time. Pretty fun game.

Just beat Kirby Nightmare in Dreamland. Fun little game. The final boss fights where too easy to beat. For the last 2 I feel like I just stood there. Still it was a fun game and the black and white part was cool

I am late to the party, but I've beaten a couple games recently.

Princess Tomato in the Salad Kingdom - Not really my cup of tea. I was expecting more of an RPG, but it's very much a text-adventure for the NES.

Sweet Home - AWESOME survival-horror RPG for the Famicom (I played the fan translation) by Capcom. I really dig the team aspect, perma-death, and multiple endings. Messed up story, too lol. If you haven't played it, and you're into that kind of game, I highly recommend it. Enjoyed it so much, I'm playing it again on my YouTube page for October/Halloween.

29. Cognition: An Erica Reed Thriller, Episode 4 (PC)
So, I finished the last part of this series, or at least this season of it. (The developers have mentioned that they have got ideas for a second season.) Although this last episode felt rushed, and there were several negative aspects of the game related to that, it ultimately gave a good conclusion to the story!

If it is made, I will certainly get the sequel season. :)

30. Dragon Quest VIII: Journey of the Cursed King (PS2) HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
This was a lot of fun to play through! Took me roughly 90 hours, and I didn't even go for the alternative ending. (Checked that out on YouTube instead. ;) ) I must say, this was a fantastic game! And it was easy to see how Toriyama had influenced more than just the designs. It was also obvious in the script, and even the gameplay!

The game feels like a "Final Fantasy light," with the story being rather straight forward, and slightly less advanced gameplay. That's not a bad thing, though. It's just a bit different, and it's in a good way. Absolutely worth checking out!

Completed For the Frog the Bell Tolls (Kaeru no Tame ni Kane wo Naru) for Game Boy in emulation on PSP. Forgot I had a game in progress and decided to get around to putting good time in. Decent game with good polish and a very good translation/localization by RyanBGSTL and the team. Obviously, it's not Link's Awakening but it feels pretty close and was short and sweet.

I can add a couple of obscure racing games to my completed list:

Gadget Racers - GBA
Road Trip: Shifting Gears - GBA

Very fun games and well-made for GBA. The big incentive is to collect all the parts and bodies and such.

31. The Last of Us (PS3) HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!
Wow, this was an incredible game! From the setting to the characters, and the gameplay to the story, this game was just packed with brilliance! I really liked how they made zombies that are actually based on something from reality. (Yes, there are actual Cordyceps fungi in reality that makes zombies out of living creatures!) And everything seemed believable and plausible. Every detail in the game seemed thought out, and the characters all seemed real.

Games with this level of quality don't come around too often. So if you haven't already: Go play it!
