Heh, I think I actually put my forum name on a To/From sticker on the present itself by mistake. I was doing a bunch of gifts that day and had slips of paper with the whos gets whats. Just was on a roll, wrote the names down, stuck it on the package, boxed it then realized the mistake AFTER I dropped it off at the post office.

Aw well, the bigger mystery will be what's INSIDE the package.

nah, afaik the "secret" only means you don't know who will be sending you something so you can't influence them and so on, imho every santa should be revealed after the 25th

Lady Jaye

I agree. I mean, sometimes it's just difficult or nearly impossible to conceal who's the secret santa on the package. For example, I think I'm the only SS living in Montreal. So, that makes it kind of easy for the person who gets my package to know that it was me.

It's more a question of not spoiling the fun (and the info) for the others until Christmas chimes in. Of course, I'm sure many of us will be posting thank yous first thing Christmas Day (ie. 12:01 am)... :D

BTW, I do know who's my secret santa, but I'm keeping my lips sealed til the 25th!

Are we posting here when we GET our item(s)? If so, I did...

It took almost a week via Priority Mail from its nearby origin...that's the PO's fault.

My SS also put their user name on the outside, but it didnt matter since I ripped it open anyway!!!

(official thank-you to come!)

No delivery yet.

My wife usually gets home before me so I asked her if she had put it away since it was a secret santa gift and shouldn't be opened until Christmas but she said she hasn't seen it yet either.

Oh the agony of having to wait.......arrrrgh.....it could be worse though. It could be under the tree taunting me LOL 8-)

HEY!

You're not supposed to open your Secret Santa package until X-mas, Jack! What gives?

It doesn't matter if they have the name on the package, because, as I've said before, everyone will find out eventually who had who!

And regarding opening packages, again.. I can't MAKE everyone wait until Christmas to open them, but it's more fun if everyone does. However, if I see anyone saying what they GOT before then, I'm stealing Santa's sleigh and kicking some BUTT!

I think I just received mine! I got a nondescript package with no warnings of secret santa goodness, opened it up (because I was expecting something from a person with the same first name) and woah, not expecting these! Closed everything back up, don't worry, I only saw the sides, not the titles. :D

Well, mine had to go overseas, so I was obligied to put my address on it. However, instead of my name, I wrote 'Secret Santa Digital Press'. So hopefully there's no confusion. :)

Still waiting for my package.

And I wonder about the person I sent it to -- there's no one on the DP site with the username that was given in the e-mail I was sent...... :hmm:

i REALLY hope for you that you didn't have to send it to germany (not very high chances as i already got my package)!!! if you had to than you're package will most likely not arrive in time, if at all, writing SS is forbidden in Germany

UPDATE!!!!

There is a priority mail package under my Christmas tree. It showed up yesterday afternoon.

Now it sits there, tempting me. Is it December 25th anywhere yet? :o

I wrapped my recipients present so if he opens the box it's no biggee. My gf took the SS box I got and wrapped everything for me as she thought us doing this was cool.

I have to wait till Xmas.

Yes, but do you do that while having business with Germans or in Germany? I can understand why they would too.

I got a package today. I'm not too sure whether or not it is the DP Secret Santa though... It doesn't even have my name on it... But it is from someone in the US with it marked as gift...

SoulBlazer

No, of course I would'nt use SS when talking to Germans. :)

My Secret Santa was in Canada, but I made sure to write 'Secret Santa Digital Press' in the TO box on the front of the enevlope. Also had to give my addy here in the States cause it had to leave the country, but it does'nt have my real name or username on it. :)

Update -- I got my package today! I was really surprised because it looked like a 'normal' package, with my full name and addy on it, and no MENTION of Secret Santa anywhere on it. I tore into the box cause I'm still expecting a Christmas gift to come so I can take it home for the folks.

Luckily, the first thing I saw when I opened it up was a Christmas card with my name on it. Reading the card, I found a message from my Secret Santa, with his username, and a message that he was 'sorry I did'nt collect classic games'. Well, sorry, I'm a gamer, not a collector, and I'm happy to play anything pre-Playstation on the computer! LOL

Still, the card was a REALLY nice touch and one I wish I had thought to do. I did'nt make any mention in MY pacakage of who I was cause I thought we were'nt susposed to do that.

There were two gifts in the box, wrapped in wrapping paper, so I'm safe of knowing what they are. Surprised to see two.....huh, now I'm even more curious. :)

I'm working night audit at the hotel on Christmas Eve and flying home on Christmas Day to see the folks for a week. I can't have any wrapped gifts in my bags (the FAA says that isa big no-no) so I'll have to open my SS gifts on Christmas Eve before I go to work. Should be close enough, right? ;)

Just a friendly reminder --

Could everyone please post when they have received their gifts? Even if you have e-mailed that you sent your gift out, some confirmation that you got one would be nice.

I sent out my package more then a week ago but my Secret Santa is one of them who has not posted in this thread yet, and I'm worried because it should have arived by now.

people opening gifts before christmas = lame

punkoffgirl
12-20-2003, 09:48 AM
I don't think I can make this any more clear, but I'll try.

I can't tell people not to open their gifts; it's not like I can make you send them back. And I know some people didn't realize they were gifts from their Santa when they were opened. I mean, it'd be NICE if everyone waited until Christmas, but I realize that's not always realistic.

So, in exchange, I asked for ONE THING.

DO NOT SAY ANYTHING ABOUT YOUR GIFT IF YOU CHOOSE TO OPEN IT EARLY.

Do not post on the boards what you got.
Do not post on the boards who sent you the gift.
And, although I assumed this went without saying, DO NOT CONTACT YOUR SANTA TO TELL THEM THANK YOU OR THAT YOU GOT THE GIFT OR ANYTHING!

All I asked was that people wait until sometime next week, when a special thread is started, to share their gifts and the names of their Santas. But some people just can't do that.

Just a note, Ill be out of town on the 24th, 25th, 26th, and 27th, so I won't be posting about my gift until after I get back.

Did somebody post what they got already? That's pretty bad if people can't even do that. If they can't atleast follow that direction, come on.......if you want to open your gift...go ahead, but don't go that far. Those that have opened their gift should have had their peace just opening it. Silence until later next week........

Nah, nobody's done that so far, I think. I opened mine, but it was a genuine mixup with the mail and I still don't really know what I got. Damn if my curiousity is killing me though. Other people have mentioned before that their customs tags had details on it.

Shame on RJ though. ;)

I have NOT given, via this thread, PM, email, or otherwise, ANY indication of what I received &/or who sent it. I stated earlier I would abide by the rules, & unless there was one I missed, I haven't broken any. I will thank my Secret Santa when necessary. Thank you.
