I'm planning on actually getting the gifts for my recipient today, so no, I haven't mailed anything yet.

However, a motivaqtional kick-in=the-ass arrived in my mailbox yesterday, from whoever got me something! I haven't opened it yet, but whatever it is is sitting on my dining room table, sending out vibes telling me to get off my butt and fulfill my end of the arrangement!

BTW, Chanukah starts Dec. 19. Maybe I could open my gift BEFORE the 25th? :D

I read in a post in the Media Mail thread in the ebay forum that shipping to Alaska took them 3 weeks but that is still no excuse for no information about where the package is.

That's perfectly fine! And they might not know who you are, if they only know your forum handle and not your "real name"; they may not be able to match the two right away. But they'll find out who you were once we start posting about it around Christmas.

I've just received the last part of my package in the post this morning. I'd won the auction a fortnight ago but, according to a sticker on parcel, it had been 'Delayed for compliance with Aviation Security Regulations' :hmm:

Mine went out today and as I feared I had to put my name and address on it because it was going across the pond. I also had to put what was inside on the outside of the package. I tried to put gift, but the post operator would not accept that and I didn't want to see if he had a gun or not. :)

So if you are in Europe somewhere and your package is coming from the States, don't look at the back where the green tag is.

I know that that's what I put on my green shipment tag for customs... and I did put gift with no problem.

I've shipped many games over the years outside of the US, and NEVER was asked to specify what kind I was shipping on the customs form. I didn't list the exact titles, but when my Secret Santa gets his package, he's gonna see Atari, Nintendo, Coleco on the outside of the package. Fucking bummer. :(

This seems to be the trend now. How many different continents does the Secret Santa cover? Would it be better if we could specify if we wanted to get someone from another country or not? I am sure there are poeple that love that sort of thing, but I don't think everyone wants an international Secret Santa PAL (joke). Just an idea.

Yeah, I was going to suggest the same thing before we got our names, but I kind of assumed that S.S.'s in the same countries would be paired with each other. Guess I was wrong. It really wasn't a big deal for me since shipping only cost a couple dollars extra, but my package was less than 5lbs. If you are shipping a package that weighs over 5lbs. out of the country, be prepared to pay thru the nose.

I went to the Post Office this afternoon, thinking they either closed at 3pm or 5pm, hoping for 5pm.

I arrived at 4:32. They closed at 4:30. Arrgghhh! What kind of logic has them close at 4:30? Why wouldn't they just stay open the extra 30 minutes???

I'm hitting the road tonight. If I manage to get on the road by 8:30, I'll probably swing by FedEx tonight and drop my packages off there. FEDEX is open UNTIL 9:00PM, unlike SOME PEOPLE. Maybe they actually want my money.

Otherwise, I'll find a Post Office in Pittsburgh tomorrow and drop the package off in the morning.

Why do you think I said it was a Pain In The Butt??

Seriously, I am in Pittsburgh visiting friends, and stopped in to the Carnegie Post Office with 3 packages, each still needing to be taped up. My local P.O. routinely whips out the Priority Mail tape for me with a smile. The guy at the counter here gave me an unbelievable amount of grief and hassle as he proceeded to tape up my packages very, very slowly. And he must have used a quarter-of-a-roll of tape on each box, wrapping the tape completely around each box 3 or 4 times.

AND he gave me so much flack over having to tape the boxes, rather than having him verify a zip code I was unsure of, I guessed for the zip on one of the packages. WRONG, as I found out later. Hopefully being one digit off xxxx2 instead of xxxx3 won't be a deal-killer.

Oh well.
