I think the Wal-Mart gift card with part of the funds is a good idea... especially if the family needs some clothes or whatever.

I think that in Kenosha it is also illegal to have an erection in public, but I've never heard that one enforced either. Wisconsin is weird.

Yeah, that's funny as all get out. I remember seeing that on the news years ago. I think it's because of people getting offended by strip club patrons, and I think one guy actually got busted for that. LOL

Those kids are going to have a badass (in a good way) Christmas! Make sure they get a dose or two of retro collection goodness (if you think they'd like that). :rocker:

I should be able to scrounge up an extra game (probably Kirby's Air Ride) and memory card 1019 and send it within a couple days.

That would be great! I'm sure they would like that game, and I haven't picked up a memory card yet.

Also, I reveived both football games today -- check the list, I just updated it!

Even though I'm poor as a broke-dick dog right now, these kids deserve them some Monkey Ball. I'll try to grab one on the way home and report back.

Do you think it's possible to get pictures of the kids opening their presents? That would really make my day.

Quick note ... I added the donations from a couple of other board members, and I also went and put *'s next to the mailed items that have arrived!

From your list, I get that we've contributed 485 dollars. With all the games and the gamecube that's already been contributed, the money doesn't even have to go towards that, so hopefully these kids can get some nice clothes and other necessities out of all of this money.

You rock pal.

I don't know when I'm getting pictures, but I *am* getting pictures. I'm guessing it'll either be while they're opening stuff or shortly after.

At least a hundred and maybe two hundred at this point are going toward Wal-Mart gift cards and will probably be given a week early, so Sandra can use them for Christmas gifts or whatever she needs. I mean, some of that money might even go toward their Christmas dinner and stuff.

Good Job Flack! And everyone else.

I think you are all doing a good thing, I wish I had something to contribute.

The giftcard sounds like a good idea to me, as I was growing up poor whenever a family member would get us kids a expensive gift, we would usually have to end up selling it in order to make ends meet or for other necessities. Shoes, clothes, coats, etc. And don't forget to get mom something.

What do you plan to get as games, Flack?

I think if you're friendly with the manager of a local EB or GameStop and explain what you're doing (and have a used discount card with them) you can get a further discount and really make that money stretch.

I sold all of my Gamecube stuff earlier this year, so I don't have anything to send of my own. And I no longer have PayPal! Flack, if you can think of anything they need, video game related or not and let me know, I can buy some things and send them to you priority.

You guys are awesome, I can't believe in addition to all of the Gamecube stuff listed here that you've got almost $500.

You may want to check again.
Last I checked, Wisconsin does not require that.

"Require" doesn't mean they're going to come to your house if you're not obeying the law. But just watch what happens if you fuck up and get caught. Say goodbye to any cash flow you may have had up to that point.

I dont think you need insurance in New Hampsire either or one of those "New England" states but im not 100% but im almost sure.

Me and the Mrs. are gonna put our heads together and figure out what our contribution could be. Flack, you are one hell of a guy! These kids are gonna be swimming in fun LOL

As far as the family filing suit against their mother... I can't say I'm suprised, which is sad. Idealy they should be helping her through all this, she's lost loved ones as well... I better stop here before I get "set-off".

After hearing about a family vs family legal battle then seeing all the generosity outpouring from total strangers... makes me proud to be part of this community. Not to mention honored.

EDIT: Flack: Got a $10 MO out to you via snail mail this AM. I'll keep my eyes peeled for some other Ninten-goodies. If I find something I can't pass up I can overnight it to you if I have to. :)

Happy Holidays!

You and me both, brother.

I just added donations from Cratermaze and ClassicB to the list, which makes the total a whopping $580! You guys are NUTS!!!

If everyone who has donated money or pledged an item could do me a favor and recheck the list and make sure your item or donation is posted there, it would help me a lot. That's who and where I'm keeping track of stuff.

I played the game with Icbrkr and PDF, but I don't own it and didn't know that it was multi-player only. These kids aren't gonna know what hit em!

BTW, what's a good price to pay for used GC games? I stopped by EB today and found like 2 for $10 and then a few more for $15 and the rest were $20 or more. Then I went to a pawn shop and found about 10 games for $13 each, but all were sports titles.

SoulBlazer
12-17-2004, 10:22 PM
Well, you can look at Amazon and the online sites of EB, GameStop, and GameCrazy for compairsons, but I think those EB prices are about right. Don't forget if you have a card from either EB or GameStop you can knock 10 percent off the price of each used game. And they may be doing a 'buy one, get one' deal or something like that. I still think if you talk to the manager about what you are doing he'll give a further discount.

studvicious
12-17-2004, 11:32 PM
I have about 40 Gamecube games and for all but 3 I've paid $10 or less on each one. To get the most bang for your buck would be to get a 50+ game lot off of ebay but I don't think that would work out time wise. So in summary $10-15 per game (or less!) is about right :D

Achika
12-18-2004, 11:16 AM
Don't forget to check BBV's. They have the Buy 2 Get 1 Free sale right now, and for some titles they are WAY cheaper than 'video game only' sales. Plus since most take trade ins, you'll find a good selection of games.

Flack
12-18-2004, 06:28 PM
Hey guys, I just updated the list with 11 new games I purchased today with some of the money. Also, I added Chunky and Katchoo's $40, which puts us at or near the $650 mark!!!

I talked to some people at work and what most of them suggested was to give the stuff to Sandra Thursday at work (Friday is a government holiday) ... so if you're sending stuff, it needs to be here by Wednesday!!! If it comes late, I can always give it to them after Christmas, but basically, if you've been planning on mailing something and were waiting until the last day to do it, it looks like Monday might be that day.

also, do you still need another regular GBA. I have one that i don't play. drop me a PM or post in this thread if you do. If so i can get it in the mail tomorrow. It's practically brand new still in its box, only played a few times.

I'm guessing you didn't hit the PO Box today. I check the DC# on the games I sent Friday and they hit your PO this morning.

And if you have any plans on hitting up Toys R Us, there's a $10 off 2 games under $19.99 coupon that most stores are accepting copies at. If you need it, PM me and I can email you the pdf of it I have.

I updated the original post ... it looks like 90% of the items are here. With the money I spent tonight on GBA games and a couple of controllers, it looks like I've spent around $350+tax on games and stuff, and then I bought a $200 Wal-Mart certificate. That leaves me with about $100-$150 left, so I'm thinking something nice for Sandra ... not sure what else to get. I will post a picture of the game pile you guys have made happen for these kids ... HO-LY CRAP it's a lot of stuff! I know people who collect Gamecube games who don't have this many!!!

WHOOPS! It's in that picture because I bought it for me at the same time I bought some of the other games (all this damn Gamecube shopping has put me back in the buying mood!). Rest assured, THAT particular title is NOT going to the kids (all the others are). I had a couple of questions about NBA Street and one or two other ones but I think they're okay.

Wow! That's one heck of a haul!! Those kids are going to be entertained for a LONG time with that! (and that is a much larger GC collection than I have!!! LOL LOL )

Flack, maybe a gift cert to a grocery store or something would be in order for part of the rest? Not sure how well these folks are set for normal food type items, but maybe a nice dinner or something like that would be appropriate?
