Did you pick up or get a memory card also, Flack?

As for Sandra....ask your wife. I think one woman would know another one better then any of us men. :D

Yeah! Great pile of Gamecube/GBA goodness there. Good job! The books are a really nice touch to round out the setup. Glad to see much of the money is going to non-gaming stuff as well.

Those kids will fit in great here getting so much at once. They'll be posting Room of Doom pics and threads about "My Gamecube backlog" in no time.

:D

Seriously, though, you are awesome for putting all this together, Flack.

Might i suggest leaving some money as cash?
That could help take care of any bills or give the ability to spend it were it is needed. Whereas a gift card restricts to that specific store.
Just a thought.

And good god did you guys send in a crap load of stuff. I wish i could have given something.

In an accident of this nature, usually it's not beneficial to sue any parties. LET ALONE YOUR OWN FAMILY. Sadly, i've been through this and insurance companies usually fill in the voids and under-insured policies add to that. The insurance companies can really never replace what has been taken, but neither can Sandra. All they can do is ease the pain by giving you money to blow on senseless things and make you create your own happiness for a while and realize that there really isn't that much happiness in money.

Cheers to Flack for organizing this whole thing. And at the total, I would say it's time to start letting donations go straight to the family. Unless that sounds like a really bad idea. I realize the general idea is to get something for the kids and stuff they need and generally money won't do this but these kids have got so many games listed on that page that as a young child, I would indeed be drooling as I never received too much. This will definitly be a killer christmas.

Last but certainly not least. I think everybody else donating needs a round of applause/pat on the back. It's one thing to give to people you know but to give to a good cause that you can't see requires another kind of heart. All of you go achieved a new level of respect to me today, I'm proud of you all.

The Digital Press community rocks!!!

I did get it and it's in the stack, but I couldn't remember who it was from. I'll add your name right now, thanks!

Today was the big day. I picked up two Christmas sacks, and put the 'cube along with the controllers and GBA and GBA games all in one sack, and then put all the Gamecube games in the other (I had to really cram to get them all in). I sent someone to the mall for me last night to make a basket for Sandra with some lotion and bubble bath and all that kind of stuff. She wrapped it for me this morning, and we rolled up the scarf Achika sent and put it in the basket too.

I went upstairs to the computer lab which has big break tables in it, and someone went downstairs to go find Sandra. When she came up, I handed her the basket of her stuff and she was like, "oh thank you, thank you Robert," and I was sitting there thinking, well if she liked all that stuff she's REALLY going to like this! So then she opened the first sack and pulled out the first Gamecube controller and was saying, "oh thank you, thank you!" and I was thinking, well this is going to take a while if she gets excited over every single thing! One of her friends was there too and they kept talking to each other in Spanish. I picked up a few words like "mira!" which means "look!" and "dios mio!" which of course means "my goodness!" Then I heard her friend say something about Santa and I asked what she said and Sandra said, "she said 'forget about the guy in the red suit, this guy is the REAL Santa Claus!"

Then we went through the bag of games and she ooh'ed and aah'ed over every one, especially all the ones obviously for kids like the Kirby one, Luigi's Mansion, Pikmin, Animal Crossing, etc. She said Pablo really likes Mario so she spent a long time looking at everything that had Mario on it.

After all that was done she said thank you about a million times, and I tried to explain to her that this was not just from me but all my friends on the Internet too and I think she got it. I also had a card in the bag that said "Merry Christmas from Rob and the guys at Digital Press" with everyone's name on it.

Sandra told me that her boys will be really surprised because she already had a talk with them and told them that Santa gets really busy this time of year and that he really wanted to get them a Gamecube but that since he was so busy, he might not be able to visit their house until February or March. When she told me this I kind of got a lump in my throat and just thought, yeah, this was a cool thing we did.

Sandra promised me she would take some pictures of the boys playing their stuff on Christmas morning as well. Also I might go over there Christmas afternoon or maybe the day after and take some photos.

Thank you everybody, for helping me give Sandra and her children a Christmas.

Wow! this is so great. I am glad that everything worked out. Reading the story put a big smile on my face. Rob, this was an amazing act of kindness you did and just to see that someone here has the potential to be such an honest, giving individual makes me realize that there are still good people in the world.

I'd say that everyone who helped out or wanted to just shows how important our gaming community is. Thanks for making this place such an open and welcoming place.

Merry christmas everyone... well in a few days! :D

This is truly awesome.

I will say the following:

Flack is full of PWN.

Digiitpress's Generous Members are full of PWN.

The world needs more Flacks indeed. I already did my own charity work however by doing the Santa thing. (Yeah... I'm *cough* heavy set *uncough* aswell as tall ) I just wish I had the money at the time to had donated to this, but it looks like a LOT of people picked up the slack. ;-).

This is truly the spirit of Christmas.

I agree, I havent seen the boards much, I wish an email went out or something,..... I think that this is incredible, and any time urgent things such as this should go out in a special edition of the DP wire, or just an email or something.

Just a suggestion. You guys rock. I cant believe those kids on Christmas. They will be so happy.

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!
