Im not complaining or anything, I just dont know if this is a glitch or anything. I havent recieved any meseta for my job yet, which I have had since yesterday.
If you look at your jobs, you will see each one has a "Pay Length." I believe they are all set to 7 days at this point. You will get paid every 7 days from the time that you signed up for the job. Your first "paycheck" is probably just under a week away at this point.

Seconded. That's mighty irritating, If one has to wait a full 24 hours between posting to earn any meseta. If anything, that is going to drive folks away from posting at all. No, it's not all about the meseta; but damn, If I can't get any, because I sporadically post throughout the day, at a low level....@#%@#%@#%#@%@
I'm very disappointed to hear you say that.
Aren't you here to discuss videogames? Now that there's this bonus introduced you don't want to discuss videogames any more if you don't receive the bonus?
I don't understand the logic.
Just noticed that after playing a game I got this message "Sorry, you need to use the activity page to play games & not link to them directly". I'm thinking this might be because while I was playing, I used the main game page to surf around the rest of the website to help another forum member find something.
I got that message too when trying to submit a score for Frogger. I had Frogger open in another window, and though I didn't leave the main game page like you did, I tabbed out of the game itself when a co-worker walked by. :embarrassed:

i'm here to talk video games. Yes.
However...we're supposed to have fun with this bonus, right?
I'm not saying I don't want to discuss video games anymore. far from it. Rather, it's just irritating, or rather, dissapointing, that unless i leave the board for 24 hours, i am not going to be able to play with the bonus system unless i get a LOT better at hyper fighter, or some of the other forum games.....
The logic is, to me, the meseta stuff is like a game. I'd like to play...*shrug*

That isn't possible. It counts the number of posts for your user ID, checks 24 hours ago, and if the number is 11 or more greater, no meseta.
uuuh, Joe have you thought about this... this in fact means that all the regular posters (who check in multiple times a day) will NEVER get meseta again, it'll force us to wait until the 24h are over if we want any meseta (yeah, i know about jobs and games (although games ain't getting me any more meseta right now, dunno why) but the regular posters are "losing" >200 mesetas per day with this system)
you really have to change it to a midnight-reset system, otherwise people will use the "wait 24h" method because it gets you thousands mesetas more for the same amount of posts

General Error

yes, that's exactly what i got.
oh yeah, my sig image was remote-linked, how do i get it back?!
and one last thing, is it possible for me to start my own shop? i see a couple other ppl have them.
Edit: also i think we should be able to get meseta for more than 10 posts per day, or at least have more ways to get cash (like more jobs )

I understand his logic just fine. Because his posting habit is to post here and there throughout the day, he is not able to enjoy a part of the new forum software. I am feeling the same way. Because I have posted 10 times in the last 24 hours, I now feel like I need to stop posting until the 24 hours are up. It isn't that I don't want to discuss videogames anymore because I'm not "recieving a bonus", it's because if I continue to post today, I will not be able to recieve any meseta with which I can go have fun with some of the other forum features. I'm down to my last 56 meseta until I get paid next Sunday, and I imagine that I'll be wanting to play some of those flash games this week. If the program was set up to give you your meseta for the first 10 posts of ever day, then it would be different. Hell, I average about 6 posts a day anyway. But if fr some reason I was extra post happy one day due to a large amount of really interesting new topics, I wouldnt stop posting after 10 just because I wasn't getting any meseta. But if Kamino and I proceed with our normal posting patterns the way things are now, then we will NEVER recieve any meseta EVER.
Do you REALLY not understand that logic and just think that we are being greedy bastards?

I still don't see where the problem lies... I logged into the new forum at around 4pm yesterday, so I'll simply start earning mesetas via posting in 4 hours from now. This won't stop me from posting now, as I always have more stuff to talk about anyway. And I find that it's a good way to let the more occasional poster who visit, say, once per day earn meseta at the same rate as blabbers like me. Otherwise, people like me would already have a couple of thousand mesetas while you may only still have, say 200? And that limit IS a way to counter pointless +1 posts.
Besides, the forum admins could always reajust the limits and what not. Remember that this is a work in progress.

Font is HUGE now, I liked it squashed like it was the other day, I feel like I'm on 640*480 res all of a sudden, any way to choose font size? Seriously, the whole site looks like it's set to 640*480 now.
Huh? No font changes were made, and it's CSS so it SHOULD appear the same on your screen as mine. Can you send me a screen capture?
Odd, it only looks bigger on my laptop. Looks fine on my PC (and yes, there's a res diff between the 2 but I took that into account) The font is DEFINITELY different when typing in text, but the same when viewing posts, so no biggie.

No. you WON'T start earning meseta in 4 hours. You'll be able to earn meseta in TWENTY FOUR HOURS from this post. Or your next post. It's FUTILE.

Okay, well, it's been well over 24 hours, and I have yet to earn anything for posting. At first, I thought it was just because I had posted before the meseta system had kicked in, and it was docking me for the unpaid posts. Whatever.
So I waited a day, posted again, and I'm getting the same blasted message: "You can receive meseta for a maximum of 10 posts in a 24-hour period." I haven't even posted that many times in the last 24 hours. On top of that, I certainly didn't receive meseta for doing so.
Can anyone let me know what is going on?
edit: I see now that it is because the Post-count doesn't reset at midnight... so basically, the only way for me to get meseta is to NOT POST for 24 hours, and then never post more than 10 a day. I suppose I just want someone to bump my meseta up for the posts I have made. :)

After looking through your posting history, it appears that there is not a 24-hour period since Version 3.0 went active that you do not have under 10 posts to your name. I believe the way it is set up right now, if you have any more than 10 posts in the previous 24 hour period from when you're posting, you will not earn meseta for that post.
I believe I saw Joe mention earlier that he's going to look into finding a different system to limit meseta earnings to prevent +1 posting. Please be patient as this all gets straightened out.
In the mean time, if you want to earn meseta, look at your posting history and count back 9 entries and look at the time stamp, and wait to post again until 24 hours after that post.

What the ???
I only read this page to see what people were finding, and I'm totally baffled. I have no clue what this Meestra is I guess. I clicked on Donate and it said I had 32 or something. Is this like comparing digital ePenises? The larger the number the cooler you are? I didn't read through all the posts, but at least to me it doesn't really matter... I am here just to talk about games.
I only stopped in to say that I see that the scrollbars were returned to their natural color. Thanks so much!
Edit: Oh yeah -- I had my Avatar yesterday and it disappeared today. No biggie though... I just have to find that particular logo again. (Haven't even tried yet... it may just be in my account...)

are we sure its not more like this:
i post 10 times...at say 805am, 830am, 833am, 850am, 900am, 910am, 1000am, 1010am, 1059am, 1136am
there is my 10 quota...no more meseta for 12 hours
at 805pm, the system sees that 1 of my 10 quota spots is 12 hours old, and opens it back up...i can post once for meseta...then i cant post again until another spot opens up, at say 830pm...and so forth
and then, say your last post at 1136am, and you dont post again until 1136pm, all 10 spots would be open

This is called negotiation, hydr0x. Maybe in Europe, you do it differently. Joe and the admins 'give' a bit, we 'give' a bit, everybody wins a little, and in the end it works out for everybody but the total pricks who will never be happy anyway.

@Joe
i'm not against the meseta system at all or the changes in general, you may have noticed i did actually play a lot of the games. it's just that i don't see why you can't do a midnight-reset for the post count? if that's technically not possible, just tell us and everyone will stop requesting it! if it's possible i don't see why you seem to ignore this option, sure the 12h method is far better than the 24h, but it still means i have to watch when to post and when not (if i want to use the meseta system), and i just don't want to do that, if i have something to post, i want to do it without ruining any chance to get some points, the system is supposed to reward people who contribute a lot to the community (right??) and this way it doesn't, people posting 1 good post per day COULD earn more points than someone posting 100 valuable posts per day (just an extreme example) and that's most likely not what you wanted to achieve
once again, i LIKE the meseta system and it's a GOOD addition to the forums, but it should not discriminate regular contributors and all i did was state that and provide a possible solution. i'm sorry if you felt i was bashing the whole changes, i'm definetly not

Midnight resetting is very doable. When posting, query for posts from the user between the current time and midnight on today's date. Count those up, and if it's 10 or more, no meseta. I assume phpBB uses a standard datetime type for stamping each individual post, so there would be very little query modification involved. I assume you currently have it counting results of a query of posts that fall after 12 hours ago using a little date/time subtraction. Just change the where clause to something like curdate() at midnight. I'm not too good with MySQL datetime functions, so I'm not sure of the exact syntax. But this would prevent the theoretical indefinite meseta lockout. It would also make everyone shut up about it. ;-)

I'm not a fan of these changes in general...it just seems like unneeded bloating. But whatever.

thanks DP... i like the new system better. 10 posts per 12 hours seems good, as i usually only post every day after school.

I'm seeing a lot of negative stuff the past few pages.
I just thought I'd say that I love the new forum so far. Seemed kinda gimmicky at first glance, but I like that we can all compare our high scores and have games to play. It's very addictive.
Keep it up, and thanks to everyone who's been working hard to get this transition underway.

Not going to complain about it seeing as it's in my favor, but I noticed that I have 3 Trophies for some odd reason and one of them comes from a game called "Maeda Path" that's not even listed. Where did that come from?

Me no understand why people complain about getting something for nothing.
Seriously.
Another thing I don't get is why if people don't like the Meseta system, why they can't just ignore it and continue posting like usual? All this time people have been posting with no "reward" and now people are saying it's not "worth" it for them to post unless they're getting Meseta for it? And people are acting like this is some life or death thing. For christs sake, it's just virtual money that gets you a little virtual trophy or virtual glow on your name!!!
I just do not understand people at all.

this isnt so much a bug as an oversight..

Two things...
OH MY GOD, MY PM SPACE DOUBLED!
Thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you!
No more having to manage it very carefully to make srue that things I needed didn't scroll off. I know I've botched at least one or two trades because we were talking about what we would trade, but then I lost the PMs. That ROCKS.
As for the scroll bars, I figured it out -- The fugly red ones are only in Internet Explorer (which I use at home since FireFox is messed up here.) In FireFox (which I use at work), it doesn't allow the changes in that.
I know it's nitpicky but will there be an option to change that coming? I really, really hate the red ones.

I have a couple of questions...
Concerning the arcade, It costs 1 meseta to load a flash game, but I can keep re-loading the game for free. Like I can keep hitting the deal button over and over in solitaire without paying any additional meseta. Will the high score count if it is obtained from a 'free' deal, or would it only count for the hand I paid for? I guess what I am asking is, do I need to exit the game and then re-load it, thereofre paying another meseta, if I want the score to count, or is it a free-for-all once I have paid my initial meseta? I hope the question is clear...
I was also wondering about jobs. Is there a way to look at the description for a job that is not currently available? I have less than 3000 posts, so I wouldnt qualify for the 'Sage' position, but I don't see any 'Grunt' positions available. "Grunt' sounds like it is only available to people with low post counts, but I don't know how low because I can't see a description of the job. It's really only out of curiousity, since I already have a job, but it would be cool to check out all of the job titles, whether available or not.
I know people are obsessing about fruit, and unfortunately I am one of them. Are there any plans to bring them back ever? Even if you have to pay a bunch of meseta for them? I guess I just miss my fruit, but if they are gone fr good then oh well.
Also I wanted to say thanks to Joe for changing the post limitation deal on meseta 'pay' for posting. I think it works much better now. I know that a lot of people are obsessing about meseta and frustrated because they don't think that they are getting enough, but in most cases, it's just because people are eager to play with all of the new forum features. There certainly seems to be a lot of negative backlash concerning the new forum features, and people complaining about having to 'pay' for things that used to be free, but it will all die down in a few days when everyone has earned some meseta and got their avatars, sigs, and titles back. Ironically, I deleted my sig and custom title a few days ago when I changed my avatar to the late pope so it was no loss to me when they were 'taken away'.
Anyway, after playing with the new forum features for a couple of days, I think that they are great. If you feel the need to complain about them, think first about all the work that Joe et. al. had to put in to get them going, and think about how you would feel if it was you who worked that hard and someone else started bashing it without giving it a real chance.

You're probably right on the money, or the meseta, there. My best advice is: get a job! (You long-haired hippies!) Seriously, when you've got something that's gonna rake in a hundred or so meseta every week and all you've gotta do is be in the user database and sign up for the "job" (which, by the way, isn't a real job), I think folks will be surprised how fast it'll accumulate.
There'll be time to play with all the new bells 'n' whistles - trust me, they ain't goin' nowheres. :D

The site seems to be operating at 100% right now. Looks like any changes made during the temporary shut down of the forums are really working well now. Speed it back up to par, seemingly it almost feels like it is loading faster than it did before.
Anyways, thanks for the always great site and keep up the excellent work!

No you can obtain a high score by clicking deal again, I had a couple high scores yesterday from doing just that. Well now that reminds me time to try to overtake the high score!

i'm also a content editor in the DP guide - how can i accept a job?????
well. no one cared to answer this.
to be honest i'm a bit shocked about how hydr0x was treated a few posts before. everytime i check in here i see him doing his work for the DP guide AND helping out others with valuable data (like us PS1 PAL guys).
i don't know the work Kamino provides for the DP community and if he wanted to provoke hydr0x with the Europe thing and maybe hydr0x overreacted a bit but i mean: whatever. just make a word-count of that fourletterword on kaminos web diary. no reason about putting him on thin ice IMHO.

True, but then again, you don't need to complain largely about something which now, in my opinion, has been fixed to be a lot fairer.
I'm scoring meseta for most of my posts now thankfully whereas before, I wasn't getting any at all.
Especially being a mod, and having to post and lock threads there, takes up some of my "post" allocation :P

Waitaminute. I just noticed something.. I thought Titles would be preserved? I bought back the rights to my custom title (Which used to be something custom.) and this is what I get? "Pac-Man Level 10"? Now I have to pay 2000 to change it? WTF? Why did it get reset? Can someone fix it? I can't afford a goddamn title change! Charging to change the title is bullpoop. Grr.. I was happy, now I am not. I thought I had everything the way it was. Grrr..

The custom title was reset when the boards were ported over to the new format. Go into your profile and you can set it back to what it was.
The shop bought title is what is currently displayed as "Pacman (Level 10)" and that's what you can pay 2000 meseta to change.

You can have up to two titles as you are currently displaying.
By paying 2000 meseta, you can change the title currently reading "Pacman (Level 10)" into any other text you want just like the custom title. But yeah you have to pay for that change as opposed to the custom title which is free to change.

I gotcha. But really.. what do I need two titles for? I can live with it. But, one last question. The 100 Materia, did that pay to show the "Pac-Man" part or bring back my "Paranoid Android" part? I hope I didn't waste 100 to put "Level 10" there.

Yep, as you suspected, that put the "Pacman (Level 10)" part there. The custom title was just reset to blank and hence why it never showed up until you put something in it again.

That's not true at all.
You were supposed to type something in the custom title at the shop, then click the button. It adds a second title that overlays the "Pac-man (Level 10)" (or whatever you have there) and costs 100 to change each time. This second title is nice because you can color the text or add glow or shadow effects (as you can with your handle), so you can have some pretty interesting combinations of handle and title.
See my handle to the left for an explanation of where these titles show up.
Since this confused even one of our testers (!) I'll add this info to the FAQ.

Still says 2000 to me in the shop to be able to change this one. It costs 100 to display it in the first place (in my case it currently says "moderator" because that's what I am). It's the old fruit rank basically. Without the graphics!

Twice last night when I tried to catch up on things after all days at work, I got two board related issues saying the board was down -- once with a php error and the other a general DP message.
And they are still VERY SLOW even on my cable conneciton.
