Twice last night when I tried to catch up on things after all days at work, I got two board related issues saying the board was down -- once with a php error and the other a general DP message.

And they are still VERY SLOW even on my cable conneciton.

I have one possible suggestion to help with the lag on the boards. I made a post last night real late (4:00AM) that the speeds seemed to be back up to normal. But now they are slower than ever.

What about taking the flash games and having them on a different site (like all of the room of doom pictures). Then when you clicked on "GAMES" it would then redirect you to a different site possibly cutting down on them cutting into the bandwidth on this site.

Once again Joe, I hope it doesn't seem like I am being negative. Just trying to make a polite suggestion to help with any new problems occuring. Thanks for looking!

earlier today (before i had to leave the room to take an exam) i was playing solitare in the arcade and i dont know if its just me, but i was having problems with it

obviously, we know that you must move a say red 7 onto a black 8, but it wouldnt let me for some cards

also, i would have an open space for a king, but it wouldnt let me bring a king down to the play field from the draw deck

also, we all know we should start with 7 cards face up and the draw pile face down, but i would only start with 5 or 6 cards face up and the cards that started face down i could not click on, move, or flip over in any way, making it impossible to win

i have a couple ideas. some of the things could use different names.
1. since we now have 2(?) titles, maybe we should give them different names, like one could be "title" and one could be "rank"(since it normally shows how many posts you have and what rank you are), because a LOT of people are getting confused by this. maybe even a little diagram in your profile and the shops which explains all the different things that appear under your username (i could make this for a few Meseta), like title, the other title, avatar, items, trophies, ETC, etc, etc.

2. also the DP shop(where you buy stuff with real money) and the 'virtual' shops (where you can buy avatars and such) should have more different names, because it's kinda confusing at first to have 2 different 'shop' buttons up there. or just call the other one "virtual shop"

I was playing kwikshot, and at the end, my score was 135080 or something. Somehow, an extra zero must have been inserted between the 5 and 8, because I know I didn't score that high. I wanted to say it here so that everyone will be on the lookout for glitched scores in their games. Mods or digitalpress, if you want to change my score, I was the gold trophy holder at 16,060 before it boosted my score like that.

Seeing as there is alot more complainging than there is anything i have to say, Joe all in all the changes are pretty sweet.
I got booted out of the Library at school for playing solitare. It was well worth it thought because they tho.

As for the Meseta and people not getting enough for posts: YOU NEVER GOT ANYTHING BEFORE SO WHY DOES IT MATTER?

I am pretty sure both of those have been said by some people.

I'm sure somewhere in the last 10 pages you have said something about it but I am not going back to find it for the same reason I am posting now. The board is slow as a dog. It took me 45+ seconds to get a message posted, 30+ seconds just to get a topic to load and half the time it is losing connection to server or reporting an error before it even loads.

I posted a message about some stuff for trade and two people replied that they sent PMs. No PMS have shown up. While I admit they may not have sent yet, I have tried to send PMs and I usually get an error and it doesn't show in the sent box. I think I'll start posting again after the meseta and flash game hype has died down and see if the board is usable again. Sorry if this sounds bitter but it is irritating to have cable access and go to another (unnamed) board and it literally flies and this one hardly works for me.

If anyone is interested in my trade stuff in the forum or wants me to try anything with the board to test it feel free to email me at aldavis2@cox.net

I've stated this a dozen times already... we're still working with the software behind the scenes. It will improve over the next few days. Please be patient with us.

If you create the icons and they're approved you can have the shop named after you. There is no option for user-owned shops per se. Email me if you'd like to contribute.

My feedback is only aimed at the subRed style. Links are only bolded, and not that noticeable. How about a color to go with it so they stick out? If it's a fully written URL it's okay, but lots of people use the url gas, making them easy to miss.

Oh generally I like the changes and I'm sure as I said that it had been mentioned before but at the speed I was getting it was impossible to read all 10 pages of the thread. The meseta system is decent. I doubt I will ever use it other than to get my sig and avatar back tho I can see the attraction. I think the icons you buy in the store make each message take up a lot more screen real estate especially when people have 3 or 4 of them. I suppose once they are loaded into cache the modem users would be ok but it does take longer to scroll through short messages than it did before. The board however does seem to be going quite a bit faster at the moment.

I agree with you, but it's not a feature of the mod. I've tried getting in touch with the mod author but to no avail. If anyone knows PHP well you're welcome to take a crack at it!


I clicked grunt, which I now am, and I have no idea what a grunt is supposed to do. Seems like a fun idea i'm just a little lost ... somebody point me in the right direction.

100 "openings" for that job were put there just for fun, and I'll be adding 100 more soon. There's no requirement other than that you have to have less than 100 meseta.

If you click a job and you're accepted, there really is no other requirement. Just sit back and watch the meseta roll in every week :)

I posted this in a different thread earlier, but got the tip from Keir to post it here! My high score in Kwikshot is wrong. It says 104,770, but the best I ever got was 18,000 something. If that could be removed, that'd be great.

Also, I think I earned about 130 meseta for winning that trophy, so, those should be taken away as well.

Many people will bold their posts, but not many people underline them. UL would show up much easier than BO does.

Also, a color would help too. Color at least. Like a lighter red (Like they do for Visited links. Maybe make visited ones a darker red than the unvisited.

If you click on "jobs", it will list the jobs that you have. On that table, it will list the amount you are paid, how often you are paid, and the date you were last paid. So add the "Pay length" which is probably 7 days, to the date that you were last paid, and you will know when to expect your next "paycheck".

The jobs that aren't obvious don't really "do" anything. They have simple requirements attached to them. "Sage" requires that you have over 3000 posts. "Grunt" requires that you have under 100 meseta (when you sign up). "Oil Baron'" requires that you own the DK Oil item.

These were mostly just me testing the features and requirements system.

It's not that the parts aren't in apostrophes/quotes, it's that the parts are out of place.

Edit again: Forget what I said about it being mixed up thingies. I figured out what it ACTUALLY is. There is no "To" field. The PM doesn't know who to go to. THAT's what the blank spot is. The PHP insertion routine is expecting a user ID to send to. The User ID of the person who got the error, Quintracker, is 1566. But it's trying to send the PM to the previous high scorer, but apparently, it doesn't know what it is.

Trust me. I had a lot of fun MANUALLY transferring a Forum from one server to another by backing up the old DB and reimporting it PIECE BY PIECE to the new server. I actually had to remove, REMOVE certain parts to get it to import correctly since we didn't have all the same MOD's installed. It was fun. Yes. Fun.

Edit: Now I notice you mentioned it was gotten after you finished a game? Seems that when you get the high score, it sends a PM. DigitalPress or whoever is doing the coding needs to look at the MOD that handles after-game PM's. That's where the problem wiill lie.

well by loading I mean loading time. all other links open up right away, but when I click the link to the forum it takes well don't know how long it takes to load cause I give up waiting.

I have taken a preliminary glance over the code and have come up with two possible solutions for improving the UI there...hopefully I can get one of them to work out.

I'll take a whack at that tomorrow or this weekend.

Alright, here's one slight issue: the subRed theme uses white-on-black text inputs. This can cause problems with the cursor not showing up on Mac OS X. Looking at the CSS, this should be a really quick fix.

They don't work in Safari either. In fact, Glow is pretty much an IE only thing. A non-standard effect. And using your Meseta to buy it, you are wasting money on something that only certain people will see. Also, with the big mass exodus from IE coming (It will be televised) it'll soon be unusable.

As for Shadows, Safari displays these, but not the ones the forum uses. The forum uses IE only effects. Safari can do shadows if you USE A STYLE THAT IS SUPPORTED!

This will not. It will only be seen by IE users. The MOD's creator must be an IE fan. Poor ignorant SOB he is.

What the forum MOD does, which is use IE only proprietary "filter" styles, will NOT work because they are IE only, non standard, non compliant Microsoft crap that should not be used.

Bottom line, don't waste your Meseta on these styles. Shadow and Glow. They will not be appreciated by everyone. Sorry, but it has to be said. Don't support MS' warped view of how code should be created. Just don't.

Why doesn't the glowing and shadows and stuff show up in Firefox? Is it intentional or just a coincidence?

The bling of shadows and special fonts doesn't appeal to me anyway, just another way for people to brag so, I'm glad it doesn't work for Firefox like the aforementioned.

They utilize a proprietary Internet Explorer only "filter" method to make their effects. This is bad. Don't waste your Meseta. So many people are switching to FireFox anyway, so you're wasting all your Meseta on something that won't be seen.

What good is "bling" if all the people around you are blind. ;)

Hey, I have a suggestion, and maybe I should start a new thread for it. Why not save some room on the side bar by instead lining up all your "items" across the bottom of the post box? You know, under the signature section. Or maybe make it an option? I mean, it seems mucho screen wasteful when people post a short post and there's about 400 pixels of empty space under their posts because of the avatar, two titles and username plus user info and a bunch of inventory items. So much wasted space!

That's a good idea. I don't know if it can be implemented, but it would also allow us to display more items, too. I second this emotion.

If I knew what the MOD code looked like, I could probably figure it out. But I'd rather not take on something that complex. Maybe contacting the author of the MOD with a request. I guess it depends on if there's a way to view all your stuff at once, then use that code blah blah blah.. technical jargon. Sorry.

Anyway, I am bored, so I Googled..

This "Shimoty" jackass has been going around forums and Blogs posting his referral URL. Okay, it's only two sites (http://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en&q=17591493+psp&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8) besides us, still, What a moron.

I suggest a Filter for certain URL's. "FreePSPs", "FreeiPods", "FreeMacMini's" to name a few. Make the filter change these to some other URL like maybe Crayola.com, WhatIsMyIPAddress.com, Jasoco.net (Hey, I could use the traffic. ;)) or something like that.

Also, there are forums out there that have a function that allows you to turn off URL posting for new users who only have less than 6 posts or something. I wonder if there's a MOD for phpBB that can do this.

If your first post contains one of these Free Item sites URL's, you will automatically be banned, the topic locked and an email sent to you warning you about being a jackass on the internet. Scare tactics, but hey, it would get the idea through. Now THAT would be a kick ass MOD.

I'll offer another idea... I know Joe doesn't like the idea of having MORE forums, but less. However, a "newbie forum" like there is on some other forums could be useful: you need to put 10 posts in this forum before you can get 'upgraded' to a real account, which needs to be cleared through a moderator.
