Lemme guess, they were from Cheapassgamer forum? I've seen too many of those vultures last year when Circuit City had their $5 sale

My haul from GameCrazy today...
http://img242.echo.cx/img242/1640/gc4ts.jpg
A good mix of harder-to-find titles...even picked up a Neo-geo pocket game (Match of the Millenium), and a N64 expansion pack as part of the sale!
Still a ton of good games left at the stores I hit, too bad this sale is the start of GC getting out of the classics market.

Had my wife hit one store today and she got a few things, but I need to go back to that store tomorrow. However, after work I hit the second store in our area and from those two trips got the following for about $100 even.
N64 stuff:
http://members.cox.net/crossbow777/images/temp_pics/gc_d1_haul1.jpg
and the rest:
http://members.cox.net/crossbow777/images/temp_pics/gc_d1_haul2.jpg
Not too bad. Now to hit the other store at lunch tomorrow. Far as I can tell, there was plenty there and I could have grabbed Zeldas and the like on the N64 side. But since I have the Zelda collection for my GCN I didn't see the need. Didn't see any Paper Mario's though..would have liked to have found that or any Genesis games I needed.
Oh well, maybe tomorrow.

Strangely enough, I was at one of the stores today and they were selling an atari 2600, intellivision II, and colecovision all bundled with games for a freaking 100$ each. I thought it was really weird they took these in as trade....anyone else ever see em carry something from that generation?

Talked to the manager at a local GC and he told me that they are going to be phasing out everything older than current gen. They don't have the space or the warehouse room to keep older games that don't really sell that well. He was under the impression that they would still keep special order lists for certain games, but that they are going the Gamestop route. This makes me cry inside.
Naa, it's because they don't want to train their employees on how to sell older games when 80% of your job there is to "make used sales on the older stuff." You either have the product knowledge or you don't, also the trade value is WAY too low on most carts.
Watch out for clueless Gamecrazy employees. When Gamecrazy was having a B2G1 on older games a while ago, one the clerk at the first store I went to told me all three games had to be on the same system, and then I found out at another store that it wasn't a requirement after all.
Point proven.
Store Manager told me that they will still carry retro, but the stock will be much lower. "Stores average 1500 PSX games and sell about 5 a month..."
1500 PSX games? The manager ACTUALLY said that?! More like 200 or the distribution center calls back a bunch of them to try to keep the PSX stock level to one 4 foot run. Besides, maybe if the employees would LISTEN and learn how to use the disc buffer CORRECTLY all the PS1 games wouldn't be scratched to hell.
Sorry, but the short amount of time I spent as a manager in two stores for them ate up so much of my soul I feel the need to vent a bit. :/ Good deals are good deals just the same and I'll probably stop in today sometime, couldn't hurt.

Paperboy 64 (anoybody ever actually played this?)
Yeah, it's not too bad. I like it. The graphics leave a bit to be desired, or maybe they just seem odd to me, I'm not sure. It's quite a bit different than the NES version of Paperboy. You can do stunts on your bike, etc.
I haven't seen one in the wild in forever... :)

well, I just got back from the second gamecrazy near me. I got:
Playstation:
Lunar: Silver Star story complete [loose, ironically]
Lunar 2: Eternal Blue Complete [complete]
Final Fantasy Anthology [complete]
Super NES:
Super Mario RPG
Secret of Evermore
Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest
NES:
Final Fantasy
N64:
Legend of Zelda: Majora's mask [gold cart]
Mario Kart 64
Funny story: I got there on thursday and the guy told me the manager hadn't come in that day to unlock the cabinet. So he took my name and I reserved some of the games I got.
Went back this morning, manager STILL hadn't came in. Reserved Lunar 2 and left.
Came back this afternoon, STILL NO MANAGER!! I was getting angry. Finally I called the store at 3pm and the manager had come in, and I went in to get my games.
Guy said to me as I was checking out "You know, we have Lunar 1 back here as well" so I swapped Zelda 64 [grey cart] for it.

Holy Crap. Once I saw the grime on that Yoshi's Story, and that you had that Oklahoma gamers convention in your avatar, I knew it had to be the same Gamecrazy in Broken Arrow! Holy Crap that's weird. I live like 4 and a half miles away from that one in Bixby. Weird. I picked up these on Thur. after work:
N64
Beetle Adventure Racing
Paper Mario
Mario Tennis
Mario Party 3
Mario Kart 64
Super Smash Bros.
Bust a Move 99
Castlevania
Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness
Harvest Moon 64
Starcraft 64
Goemons Great Adventure
SNES
Castlevania IV
Super Mario Kart
Gameboy (Misc.)
Game & Watch Gallery 3
Game & Watch Gallery 2
Lufia: TLR
Zelda: Oracle of Ages
Kirby's Dream Land
Final Fantasy Legend
It's always strange to see something local being broadcast on the web and you don't realize it till your staring at the picture of the place. Someone else once posted some pics of my local Vintage Stock before they remodeled it and it freaked me out! (It sucks now that they remodeled it, it's not very gamer-like (Read: cozy) Got more of a Sears type thing going on where you can actually see the floor and everything is ever so neatly arranged; but blah, give me the cramped, claustrophobic spaces of the old anytime then this new Techno green colored corporate exective bologna.)
Anyway LOL

Last night I figured I would check out the one GC I hadn't been to yet. As I was leaving, I saw stacks of SNES games behind the counter, one with FFIII. I asked the guy for it and he goes to pick it up ,revealing FFII so I ask for that too, revealing Chrono Trigger. He said they weren't in the system yet but would have them for me in the morning. When I got there this morning I was expecting them to be gone. While the guy was looking for them, I spotted a complete Mario RPG. I also got Uncharted Waters New Horizon and N64 Smash Bros. All for $32.48!! So keep checking as it seems some stores are getting more stock.

Phew.....I hit up the last few gamecrazy's I had in town and struck some gold. Got quite a few great games:
Gamecrazy 1
SNES - Dr. Mario / Tetris
N64 - Castlevania: Legacy Of Darkness
Dreamcast - Tom Clancy's Rouge Spear (complete)
Gamecrazy 2
SNES - Super Bomberman
N64 - Kirby: Krystal Shards
N64 - Super Smash Bros.
Gamecrazy 3
This one was defenitely worth the entire trip:
N64 - Ogre Battle 64
SNES - Shadowrun
SNES - Final Fantasy III (yay!)
Was talking to the guy there and asked if he had any snes rpgs in the back and he grabbed an ffIII for me. He wasn't even aware the sale had started till I told him it had and he said he had to go pick up about 20 games from another location since they started the sale early.
So, I enjoyed this sale immensly and got some great games, but now it's time to let my wallet take a breather.

Oh man people. I have just worked the hardest anybody ever has in history to get Virtual Hydlide, Sword of the Berserk, and Parappa the Rapper.
I found the nearest GameCrazy easily enough. I took a SamTrans bus there, wandered around a bit, and found it. Got my games (sans cases, bah). Then the hard part.
See, I don't know the SamTrans bus scheduale real well. I waited at the stop for at least half an hour, then came to the conclusion that it was late enough that it'd stopped running.
Long story short, I just walked around five miles, at night, most of it while more or less completely lost and all with no idea of whether or not I'd actually reach my destination. But hell, I got me Parappa the Rapper. :)

a ken griffey baseball cart I picked up had not for resale on it. There was a guy in front of me today that bought 700.00 worth of games all good ones. He must be a seller. Yesterday he brought 900.00 worth at the another location. stuff like 3 paper marios 5 pokeman stadium 2 tons of gameboy games. Soon there wont be any good ones left I wonder when you buy like that will you be left holding the bag. I guess a 5.00 you can somehow break even. Ex I didn't like pokeman stadium 2 but somehow the rare value is 20.00

I just read this post and had to go check out the local game crazy for mehself... I scored a few N64 games that have been stolen from me in the past, so I still had the box/book.
Mario Kart 64
1080
Excitebike 64
They had a super metriod (GH version) and several more Mario Kart 64's (all GH version, luckily the one in the store that was not GH went home with me). They also had a paper mario, but whoever owned it before they sold it to gamecrazy decided it would be fun to black out the entire label except for the words "paper mario". Oh well...

I REALLY didn't need to spend any more money but since I really didn't take a good look last time I was in, I figured I'd stop by GameCrazy again. About 1/3rd of all the N64 games were gone and the employees were talking about people coming in and buying thousands of dollars worth of N64 stuff for hundreds. I didn't see any SNES Final Fantasy / Chrono Trigger / EarthBound, etc. so I concentrated on the PlayStation since their whole stock is currently behind the counter and they have a binder with the current PS1 game lists on the counter (aka - it's still mostly untouched). I'm estimating the prices from memory (but the total came out right) since most aren't stickered, so this time out I picked up...
PlayStation
---------------
Ace Combat 2 - Complete! ($29.99)
Ace Combat 3 Electrosphere - original case but only has the cover of the booklet ($24.99)
Brave Fencer Musashi - disc only ($19.99)
Ehrgeiz - disc only ($14.99)
Namco Museum Volume 5 - disc only ($14.99) - I might go pick up the other copy they had
SaGa Frontier - disc only ($14.99) - for a friend since her copy is flaking out
$119.94 = $30.00 :)
Needless to say I was stoked to find a complete copy of Ace Combat 2, a title that has been eluding me since seemingly forever.
Also let me make this clear, GameCrazy is NOT phasing retrogames out!! Pretty much with Gamestop buying out EB this leaves GameCrazy as the only used large scale retro dealer. (GameRush really isn't widespread enough to be considered competition and they've been blowing out cartridges for a long time anyway) This sale (good until like May 28th by the way so you may want to make weekly runs for new stock from distribution centers) is to help level off the inventory and build up a new pricing index - good example of this is the $40 N64 used games - too high to begin with as everyone will agree. In fact my local store knocked out so much N64 stock they're going to be getting in new supplies from the DC's in Nevada this week, they also plan on getting in a bunch of Saturn games. Speaking of which there were about two dozen boxed complete Saturn games when I was there tonight that came in from a distro center, but nothing I really wanted. The trade-in values may go back up after the sale, so if you're buying up carts to retrade later on it might work out.
Again, this sale is to help lessen the amount of used backstock in the distro centers and to recatalog the pricing index for their used retro titles, they are NOT getting out of the retrogame business... thank god!

Well, as far as games I was looking for the following.
SNES--
Lufia 1
Lufia 2
Secret of Mana
Civilization
Romance of the 3 kingdoms 4
Gemfire
Breath of Fire 1
NES--
Uncharted Waters
Romance of the 3 Kingdoms
Ikari Warriors 3
Dragon Warrior 4
Genesis--
Pirates Gold
Phantasty Star 4
Dreamcast--
Phantasy Star Online 2
Silver
Saturn--
Damned near anything that wasnt a sports title. Though racing would have been fine.
GB--
Great Greed
GBC--
Dragon Warrior Monsters 2 Cobis Quest (or it may have been the girls, I cant remember except by sight)
I know my wanted games were popular, but I figured sense they had most of the games on that list at all 4 of the places localy, I would have a chance. As most of the emps had bought them, it was somehow fun finding out I never had a chance at them.

They're not taking trade-ins on the currently 3 for $15 sale games as then you could get three copies of Mario Party 3 for $15 and trade them back in for $17 credit each. After the sale is over the trade-in prices will be recallibrated against the remaining inventory company wide. There's simply too much backlog right now and this sale is to clear it out - so of course they're not going to accept more in, any new retro stock is coming via the distribution centers or store to store. Quite possibly the person you talked to didn't hear the conference call at the beginning of this promotion addressing all of this or the store manager didn't share the information with them.

Exactly. This is what I was told by employees and managers at all 3 Gamecrazys that I went too. They are not phasing out retro games, just clearing out over stock. Once the sale ends, trade-ins will go back to their normal values.
I think the more worrisome question is why ditch the jewel cases for DC and PS1 games? They tell me that they don't have the room, but please jewel cases? Why not ditch DVD cases for the current gen games then? Idiots will buy those games without cases too. I was told the usual story that they don't have enough space in the store. The logic is somewhat flawed in the since that if the games were complete, they might sell them faster and come off the shelf, rather than storing them. I know its been argued to death before with GBA/Genny/SNES boxes/cases, but the whole makes me cry to think that they are purposely destroying boxes, inserts and instructions. I even asked if they could keep them for me, and of course the answer was no.
