Downloaded the trial last night and cried about how limited it is. That said, I'll probably just go ahead and buy this one, but have questions. How's the lag on Live? How's the competition? I found myself having issues pulling off special moves with the XBox controller - anyone else having this problem? Is there a good way to solve it? Also, did anyone buy the SF theme? Worth getting?

I was impressed with the speed, there didn't seem to be much lag. The game does seem somewhat limited though...it's really hard to put my finger on but it''s there. I have a HELL of a time pulling off special moves on that GD xbox controller...brings back memories of DOA4 already. The on-line competition raped me. Then again, I don't remember shit about SFII. It pretty much went like this:

1) E Honda does flying head butt

2) E Honda hundred hand slaps into the corner for rest of match

It is harder.

E. Honda keeps kicking my ass. And Ken/Ryu goes nuts with the hadoken fireballs.

And for those of you who have the DOA 4 controller - consider yourselves lucky. It works quite well with SF2.

Haven't played it online, yet.

Sweet, I'll have to try that tonight because the use of the gamepad results in many losses.

Im gonna be buying the controller just for this. I couldn't pull off half the moves the I could on my arcade cab.

Hyper lag is relative to how far you are away from the person. It's not "as" bad as the Anniversary Edition lag on Xbox, but it's still there, and the droppers are all over the place!

I make sure I go in and leave feedback stating when people drop. It's lame and hopefully if they get enough bad feedback on their rep people will reconsider.

Dead Rising demo is live now.

Holy cat-balls! I just noticed this, while en-route to download a copy of Street Fighter II! This should be very interesting...

Edit...

OK! Dead Rising is looking all set to be a friggin' awesome game! Thank God for that, eh?

The demo is really just a playground to have some fun in, but there is also an opening and closing cutscene to chew on if you want some background. Really great graphics, as you'd expect from Capcom, and just a mind-blowing assortment of weaponry! The controls felt a little stiff while aiming, though.

All in all, this seems like a really good sample of what we can expect from the game. I'm just miffed that I'll be waiting another month to play this...

As for Street Fighter II... well, what can one say? I'm impressed. On-line play is excellent! No problems at all. Easy as pie to get going. Plenty of fun, and easily worth 800 points. I just wish they had remastered the music. That is a missed opportunity :(

Damn... All the games coming out this month is gonna leave me broke as a joke. Dead Rising and Pac-Man next week, N3 and Madden '07 the week after that, then Saints Row, then finally Enchant Arms...

This will be a first... Being broke because of video games, during the summer. :D

SF2 was kind of corny, if you ask me. I downloaded the demo, and it's almost impossible to pull off moves with regularity with the Xbox 360 pad. Not to say I am SF masta -- I suck monkey balls at the game -- but I do know how to pull off Ryu's uppercut/haduken (or however it's spelled) moves. It's hard to get those half/quarter circles on the Xbox 360 pad. I guess with practice it's possible, but it could be at the expense of your left thumb...

I have been stubborn to adopt xbox live arcade in to my gaming.

Being that there is so many street fighters out there I was a little reluctant. Being the street fighter fan that I am I downloaded the the trial and love it.
The controller definately takes some getting use to once you play enough you get into the groove.

I am glad the gameplay has been bumped up. I really believe that most gamers have outgrown the original speed.
The difficulty has been bumped up to maybe arcade. I dunno.

I am warming up preparing to go online.
Even though I have plenty of other versions of street fighter too me this one is definately the best.

I must admit I think Microsoft is on to something. They are just blowing the doors off with this xbox live. Now I have to play cacth up.

Can't agree more about people dropping, but Honda is so easy to counter, it's not even funny. Projectiles obviously work wonders, and the only characters that can't jump the slap are Zangief, Balrog, and Sagat. If you're losing with anyone else, it's your own fault.

Depending if you can hit a decent half circle with the lag, but with the limited amount of special moves(compared to the later games), it's not like we knew cheese tactics would not happen at least half the time..

Downloaded the full version Saturday night. Played a bunch of regular matches on Live, went 6-1, got excited. Then, realized that those don't count and you actually have to play *ranked* matches. Fine, played ranked matches. Went 0-4. That sucked :P Haven't played since.

I've had plenty of people drop out of the game in Street Fighter just as I was about to get in that final hit to win the match. You can't win every time guys, just take the one loss. Everybody either uses Ken, Ryu, or E-Honda. I have yet to see many people use anyone else than that. I use Blanka because his zapper move can get me out of the corner. I encourage everybody to use e-honda and do the slap move, I know how to stop him and have been getting lots of wins because of this.

British Gaming Blog today posted dates (http://www.britishgaming.co.uk/?p=1107) for the next batch of Xbox Live Arcade games. These were taken from The Official Xbox Magazine in America, so I guess they're pretty solid...

Pac-Man August 9th
Texas Hold ‘em August 16th
Time Pilot August 23rd
Scramble August 30th
Lumines Live! September 6th

The big one, for me, is Lumines Live! And it comes out just two days before Dead Rising. Crap!

Come on Microsoft...

$12.50 is ridiculous for these things. I'd consider getting all ten of them if it was more like $2.50. Fortunately though, I think if one person gets it, s/he can get an unlimited amount of them and give them off to friends. At least, that's how the free downloadable parts work.

mailman187666

I've already read a couple articles on how microsoft is gonna be making "consumable" downloads where it can be something that will run out in a game and would require another purchase of the same thing to be able to use it again (for example if the horse armor was able to break in Oblivion, that would be it and you'd have to buy it again). I think thats a little too much, if they do do it, hopefully they won't go for anything more than 10 M$ per item or so. At least to be able to use that last 100 I have in my account on something i can use rather than a gamerpic or something.

This is all stuff that should already be in a videogame, cmon you know that had that shit all coded and ready to put in the game but they were like "no lets just wait a month after the game ships and charge people $12 for it, they will fall for it". Unless I am totaly in love with a certain game where I fell the money I will be spending on added content is worth the price, I will never be buying anything like this for any games. Only exceptions are like new multiplayer maps for online games (that dont cost an arm and a leg), and arcade games.

Just to note, that if you buy the weapons with MS points, you can go into the game's shop and buy as many as you want free of charge. Then, you can trade them to other squad members. If you have friends in other squads, you can have them come over and take a few as well. In other words, only a few people actually need to buy anything to get the weapons into gameplay. That could very well be the reason for the high price.

It isn't... go grab a copy!

I might end up downloading both versions - just to see how they compare graphically. But this game has always struck me (and I really only found out about it in the last month, or so) as one I would enjoy more on a console, just from a control point of view.

I could be wrong. I often am. I'll find out soon enough. In the meantime, I'd be interested to hear what you guys think - as always!

I set my alarm for the second it was supposed to be there, and indeed it was there. I started the download and went back to bed for a few hours and when I woke up it was done :P.

Anyways onto the game itself, I was still really tired when gave it a whirl, so I struggled with the controls like no tomorrow. I'll try it again soon in a more aware mood. the game rocks to put it simple.

The whole stunt-driven attitude the game boasts is just extremely fun. I took my car over a cliff while standing on it's roof, and at the precise moment open my chute and ended up 200 feet in the air. I glided to the nearby road, hopped onto the roof of the nearest car, and kicked the drive out the passenger door, sending him out of my field of vision. The map is huge, at just over 390 square miles. In the demo they give you a small little island in the corner of the map and it already is big as hell. I ended my first time playing it by going 2000m into the air, freefalling until the last 50, and opening my chute and landing safely on the ground.

Games like this that are so unrealistically fun and deep don't come a long very often (or so it seems) so Just Cause is a mustbuy for me, and everyone should at least check it out.

It's quite fun, good thing it was the first game on this year's MAME league or else I wouldn't have given it a second thought.

But yeah, all but one of those acheivements are easy to get. Seems like standard fare for the older game revivals.

I've never used xbox live before, and I was hoping a few people could answer some questions for me about downloadable content. I'm not so much interested in playing games online (I live with eight guys with two xbox systems between us) but I'd love to get new content for the games we have. I know DDR and karaoke revolution have song packs. Can I, say, download new maps for, say, Timesplitters: Future Perfect? Or Farcry? Even if they're not official ones, I'd be happy to get some decent player-created maps.

If they arent official or ones that are avalible within the game to download then you would need a modchip to download/play them on an xbox 1. Granted if you play on the offical xbox live you will get banned for playing it online but you can play it againist other players with other means. I'll have to see if my local gamecrazy has one on my way home and see which packages they have.

Still no. And I've heard a rumor that TotemBall is'nt out because MS has had shipping problems with Vision.

Supposedly, next week we'll be getting either Lumines and Totem or Dig Dug and Totem.

And they are saying Totem will be free. That's a smart move.

Oh for those that really like to put too much money into one game, they released more weapons for Chromehounds yesterday to download.

So is FF2 even worth DLing? something like that needs an online demo for sure. Also did they fix the LOTR map pack problem yet? I should finish that up on single player soon before I forget about it completely.
