I'm assuming any details about the 360 version aren't known yet, but if there's some sort of downloadable songs, this might force me to get a 360.

CRAP SOMEONE BEAT ME.
I thought "Who Was In My Room Last Night?" would be the only song on my personal "holy shit" list. But then, they announce MISIRLOU.
If "Willie The Pimp" by Frank Zappa is in this game, my whole universe will be ripped inside out.

Lamb of God and Alice in Chains are awesome inclusions, and two I didn't expect.
But Dick Dale? And the Police?
Wow.

A couple of things from EGM's "Guitar Hero II backstage pass"
- U2, Quiet Riot, and Led Zeppelin will NOT be in the game.
- Producer John Tam has "plans" for "The Final Countdown" by Europe. (Oh God.)
- Marcus Henderson had the following quote in regards to the final song: "You'll know it when it arrives. This is a major, major guitar ass-kicker. It has no less than 11 guitar solos in it."
You know what song has 11 guitar solos in it? "HANGAR 18" BY MEGADETH.
Also, eurogamer.net mentions that "Killing In The Name" by Rage Against The Machine and "Monkey Wrench" by The Foo Fighters are almost definitely in the game. No confirmation from RedOctane though.
http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=67454
And remember "The Breaking Wheel"? That band is gonna have a bonus track in this game too.

I just want to know what the replacement for "More Than A Feeling" is, we need at least one cheesy song that is somehow awesome.

There is no way Hangar 18 is going to be the final track, for a number of reasons. One, it's too short, barely breaking 5 minutes. Two, the chorus and verse are really, really simple. And three, it wouldn't be very hard. There might be a half dozen solos at the end but they're all 10-15 seconds long. It's not that difficult to fudge your way through 15 seconds of solo and have 30 seconds of a fairly simple riff to get your crowd meter back up.
And if Freebird is in there, you better believe that the final song is going to have an endlessly long solo in it. If they want to put in challenging Megadeth, it better be Holy Wars.
Mr.FoodMonster

Freebird is confirmed, so it will be in there.
There's been quite a bit of speculation about the 11 solo song, and another guess is Dragonforce 'Through the Fire and Flames' While I think Dragonforce is kinda lame, the guitar in this song is pretty rad, and there are a TON of solos, including a 2 minutes-ish solo-battle. But, I'm guessing we'll just have to wait another month or so until we find out this 'final' song.

Dragonforce 'Through the Fire and Flames'
From the day Guitar Hero II was announced, I've been saying that I really wanted this song in the game.
I mean...why else would the Guitar Hero official site be posting a link to videos of Dragonforce playing GH...if they weren't going to be in it????
Or maybe I'm just a conspiracy fan :P

Not that i don't like War Pig, but i would've greatly prefered Paranoid. And i'm amazed there's no solo Ozzy track. I expected Crazy Train or I Don't Know.
I also expected another Judas Priest title like Metal Meltdown. God the opening of that would so rock.
All in all though it's a bloody amazzing soundtrack. I'm just hoping we get an all metal version soon. After all music isn't music unless it has it's own mortality rate.

Considering that just over half of the "licensed" music has been announced, there is still plenty room for more hopefuls. I definitely expect AC/DC, Iron Maiden, Ozzy, and Megadeth to all have tracks in this title.

If an AC/DC track is included (god willing) it had better be Thunderstruck. I can't think of anything i'd more like to play then Angus Young's amazing opening solo. Well maybe the opening solo in Judas Priest's Metal Meltdown.

Ugh...lamb of god in guitar hero. Just doesn't work for me, even though I like the band. All the classic rock additions are KICK ASS. Can't wait to play Misirlou and Jessica. I'm hoping for a Buckethead track for the finale. Binge and Grab would be a godlike finisher. Amazing instrumental.
I'm REALLY happy to see this is going to be on 360. Defenite buy in November, fucking day ONE. Downloadable tracks will be cool if they add them in packs, not singles, but more importantly I'm exstatic to be able to play on live with all my friends.

The Ventures - Pipeline
The Stooges - Search And Destroy
Pantera - This Love
Iron Maiden - Number Of The Beast
Jethro Tull - Aqualung
Slayer - Angel Of Death

Chuck Berry - Maybellene
The Specials - Gangsters
Deep Purple - Highway Star
The Rolling Stones - Street Fighting Man
Metallica - The Four Horsemen
The Beatles - Taxman
Link Wray - Rumble
Black Sabbath - Supernaut
The Violent Femmes - Blister In The Sun
Ones that either have no chance at all, or very little chance, but would still be really awesome:
Can - Paperhouse
Babe Ruth - The Mexican
Frank Zappa - Willie The Pimp
Captain Beefheart - Moonlight On Vermont
Refused - New Noise
Des-ROW - Daikenkai Core
The Meters - Sophisticated Cissy
Anything by the Minutemen

I was trying to think of songs for the game, and instead a song I thought of gave me an idea for a parody of Guitar Hero, are you ready for it? Here is my idea for a game.
Sitar Hero, and it could feature classic rock songs that use the sitar, as well as some legit sitar music.
Songs could include Norweigan Wood- The Beatles and Paint It Black by the Rolling Stones. And I guess that the song, Guitar Hero, or whatever it was called, could be retooled for the game. "Gonna be a SITAR HERO!!1!111!"

I'm very happy to see Megadeth on the play list. The fact that it's Hanger 18 makes it even better. 8-)

Some stuff I'd like to see in any GH game:
Living Colour - Cult of Personality
Static-X - Push It
Ministry - Just One Fix
Neil Young - Cinnamon Girl
Pixies - Wave of Mutilation
R.E.M. - Ages of You
Anthrax w/ Public Enemy - Bring the Noise
Joe Satriani - Summer Song
Eric Johnson - Cliffs of Dover

Ones with a good chance at actually being in a Guitar Hero game:
Slayer - Angel Of Death
Highly unlikely they would put a song about Josef Mangele into a T rated game.
I would love to have some Slayer, but I'm afraid any of their really good songs wouldn't be able to be put on the game for the same reason.

Actually I kinda disagree there. That lamb of god has about a solid minute of the lead singer saying:
See who gives a FUCK
Over and over and over again. It's going to be kinda weird if they take out all the excessive cursing. I've been wondering if they're gonna cover it the same way, lol. Personally, I just don't like the song in the playlist, seems outta place to me.

After actually downloading the podcast, I have some great quotes to post:
Ted Lange on Hangar 18: "I can count about 3 songs that are definitely much, much harder" ......hmm.....Dragonforce perhaps?
It's pretty much confirmed that some songs will have lead/rhythm and some songs will have lead/bass, but it's always one or the other and never both.
Marcus Henderson: "Just because you didn't see something in Guitar Hero II, doesn't mean you won't see it in Guitar Hero III"
Ted Lange: "The big names, Led Zeppelin, Metallica...we're gonna go after them until we get 'em. ... if you really want Metallica, email them, tell them...."

So I got to play a half completed version of the game and I have some good news for folks. The song I was most hoping would be included, and it hasn't been announced yet (i think), is "killing in the name" by Rage. It is fantastically awesome. Also included are Heart Shaped Box by Nirvana. They have jacked up the difficulty immensely in this version. There are three note chords, which are a good edition. And you can now play multiplayer with both players playing on different difficulty settings. Oh, and the rep did confirm Final Countdown is in, but it wasn't done in the build I played. :)

Gamestop received their marketing crap for October, including a Guitar Hero II standee. The standee lists a few of the songs included in the game:
YYZ
Heart-Shaped Box
Sweet Child O' Mine

Carry On Wayward Son

Rock This Town

Crazy on You
I think we're getting Danzig, Stray Cats, and Wolfmother. Yes, yes, and yes.

Oh shit! Danzing?!?! :rocker:
I just tried out the demo and it pretty much plays the same as GH1. There are a few minor changes (the fretboard shakes a little when you miss a note), but nothing really major. Layout and presentation is pretty much the same too. Here are the songs that came on the demo:
Shout At The Devil
You Really Got Me
Strutter
YYZ
The only thing that sucks about the demo is that the option screen is locked, so if you're a lefty (like me), you're pretty much screwed unless you can play right-handed.

I heard GH2 is going to be multiformat. Anyone else wondering what kind of Xbox live support there will be? Jamming via broadband? Friends High score boards? 16 player multiplayer action? Wireless guitar controller?

Leaderboards - Highly likely

There are also a number of public trackers that have this. Anyway i tried it, and to be frankly, i wasn't too impressed with the song selection. So, if their initial claim of 55 licensed tracks holds true, that means we have 17 songs to go, and they're all in tier 7 or higher. This boggles the mind. More Hendrix? More Pantera? More Clapton? More Ozzy? Slayer? Iron Maiden? Voivod? (they mentioned being in the game on their website) this is huge news.

"Freya" - The Sword
"Girlfriend" - probably Matthew Sweet. Could be The Darkness.

On the official GH forum, they deleted almost the entire thread discussing the reveal of the songlist (it was at 16 pages in less than 12 hours) and they also censored the video online from showing all these songs.
I've got the feeling a few people probably just got fired.

Actually, since the game is going to have 8 tiers, and there are 8 licensed songs not in the first six, there are only 2 licensed songs that haven't been announced yet, and the rest are gonna be bonus songs. This is, of course, provided that the bonus songs this time are like they were last time (indie originals, contest winners, stuff by Harmonix staff members). That said, the 38 songs that we've seen thus far are...well, so unbelievably kick ass that I kinda want to crap myself. Or just wait 'til November 7th. :P

The demo is great! I've been playing it today and it is a bit harder, especially the 3-button chords. Can't wait for this one. :rocker: :rocker:
p.s. Got mine at Barnes and Noble this morning :D

I've now spent a little time with the demo, and so far...
Shout at the Devil - 161k, 5 star
You Really Got Me - 102k, 5 star
Strutter - 152k, 4 star :(
YYZ - 109k, 3 star :( :(
HO/PO's have been totally fixed. Trills are now EASY, but getting used to them everywhere else is going to take a while.
It also looks a lot better than the first one, or that might just be because I'm playing it on a nice TV instead of watching shitty quality Gamespot videos on youtube.
All 4 songs are super fun and offer a different challenge... well, SatD isn't very challenging anywhere, but the other three offer something unique.
Cmon November 7th! I've got the whole week off work so I can kick this games ass, I can't wait.

What do you get when you sign up for a free OPM subscription, bitch through email that you didn't get the demo disc, and finally recive issues with them included?
A wait of 2~3 weeks after the issue hits the stands to recieve it in the mail. I almost bought it, but then I realized that I should put that $10 to a reserve. And I did.
I want demo so bad me speak poor english :(
