On my 'most wanted' list (as if you don't have them) SSBB has just overtaken NiGHTS 2 (yep, that'd be first place). THAT's how much I'm salivating right now.

...And I think they said there'd only be one or two extra 3rd party characters after Snake. Given how big the Sonic news is, it's safe to guess there'll be at least one more after him. Personally I'm of the opinion they should include Knuckles, but that could well detract interest from the Mario/Sonic Olympic games game (hah! As if Sonic isn't doing that by himself!), so that might just be a pipe dream.

Megaman, on the other hand...

Call me weird, but when I saw this news on Digg early on this morning it gave me the energy I needed. This news has been motivating me all day! Now I just need to get my hands on a Wii and this game whenever it comes out.

How many more characters can we expect? Naturally I'd love to see Mega Man like many of you. Imagine a Mega Man vs. Samus duel. I'm with someone who said Little Mac. I'd like to also see a Balloon Fight level. Imagine the sea monster, the bolts of lightning, the spinning paddles. It's set up perfectly for this game.

I just watched the video of Sonic in the game; Wow.

I thought I heard that there were only going to be two third party characters when Snake was the only one announced. I can't remember where I saw that link, but I think it was in IGN's giant FAQ about the game. Also, it sucks that it's being delayed.

I'm pretty disappointed that it's being pushed into next year but with so much fan-service crammed into the game, I think I can endure.

I seriously doubt that any more non-Nintendo characters will get included. Frankly, we're still missing a ton of awesome Nintendo characters (Mr. Game and Watch please) so there's still a lot more to come.

Too bad this is the only game that has me excited for right now on the Wii.

I'm sure Nintendo will have a demo of Brawl at the Arcadia fest next month, here in Montreal... lineups will probably be as monstruous as they were last year for the Wii and Twilight Princess...

Nobody has officially stated that the game has been delayed till next year. People are only speculating because of the "TBD" tag on the Smash Bros Dojo. Granted, it was delayed in Japan till January, but I still think we'll see a December release in the USA.

As it would be smart for them to make the Dec. date for the Christmas season, if Japan is delayed I can 99% assure you that the US will be delayed...The US does not get games before Japan...It's the other way around

That hurts. At least we'll be getting a polished and complete game. I suspect the delay is mostly due to the difficulities of getting the online component up and running smooth.

Off topic, WTF is Gamestop sell SSBM for $34.99?!?! This game sells new for $29.99 -- it went Players Choice in 2003 (I bought mine right at the price drop--no yellow border yay!)

I'm all for delaying games to make them more polished, but who honestly believes that Sonic was just added to the game? I'm sure he has been in it for quite a while now and they only just now announced it. And even if he was just added, that shouldn't delay the game by two months.

I think they've had the final roster for a long time now. They just revealed Sonic to take some attention off of the delay.

Also after reading the preview on 1UP, Little Mac (my most wanted character) seems to be an Assist Trophy and not playable. FUCK.

If I can't play as Ridley, I'm gonna murder somebody. :texaschain:

This delay is killing me Feb 2008 come on! This game should have been out by next month for the holiday season. I've had the game on reserve since Feb of 2007! Because I believed one of the employees that I talk to regularly about a summer time release. I looked in Game Informer a while later and sure enough it said June (maybe July) release. Then when it became apparent that was untrue the employee told me end of Sept. Few weeks later I totally discredited his info as I saw that EGM had SSBB backed up into Dec 2007. Oh well, I realize I'm doing great deal of whining here but I simply still cannot wait until Feb 2008. Somehow the game will be worth the wait and I will love every moment of it.

If anyone hasn't watched the lastest videos (dated: 11 October) of SSBB on IGN, do so right now (http://media.wii.ign.com/media/748/748545/vids_1.html).

This game looks incredible running in 480p on an LCD. I'm not exaggerating when I say it looks almost as good as a 360/PS3 game. Wow.

Anyway, SSBB is (Probably) going to be awesome when it finally comes out. I have a can of Mountain Dew Game Fuel set aside for when SSBB comes out (With a note taped to it saying "DO NOT OPEN until Super Smash Bros. Brawl comes out"). Hey, I liked that stuff.

Spring jump pad (the one Sonic uses for his up+B?)
Screw Attack now sticks to you so you can hold another item with the Screw Attack.
Bombs from Starfox. ("a poker chip with the letter B on it"....dude.)
New flamethrower item that sticks to you like Screw Attack
Spiked item (maybe Gordo from the Kirby games?)

Assist trophies:
A Metroid, latches onto characters as they are known to do
Little Mac (NOOOOOO) who runs around and punches the shit out of you

A character from Sin And Punishment

Final Smashes:
Peach: Zooms in, graphics from Super Princess Peach appear, zooms out, all opponents are asleep and a bunch of life-restoring peaches are on the stage.
Ike: Same as Link's, pretty much.
Metaknight: Grabs onto people and 1-hit-KO's them.
Pikachu: Turns into a ball of energy, flies around like Super Sonic
Zero Suit Samus: Gets her suit back. Yay.

The "Final Smashes" kind of bother me. Can they be turned off?

Me and my friends were big fans of Mario Tennis for N64. Power Tennis for Gamecube introduced "power shots" which completely ruined the gameplay. They can be turned off in Power Tennis, but the game seemed to be designed in a way that you almost had to use them to gain any advantage, and normal "skill" had much less to do with it.

Yuck - messages that go along with taunts. I really hope you can turn that off; can you imagine how annoying that will get with somebody doing it constantly and blocking part of the screen?

Actually, now that I think about it, Nintendo will probably disable it for online matches to prevent profanity, etc. Still, if I'm sitting on the couch and somebody starts spamming some message like that, I'm smacking 'em upside the head.

I'm hoping there are more characters. So far none of the characters I used before are listed. My Main character is Jigglypuff(Shut up, he rocks if you know how to use him), I also use Capt. Falcon, Roy/Marth mainly. I can do decent with Nes, Pikachu, and a few others, but I haven't seen any of my main characters listed yet :(

Roy/Marth = Ike, almost certainly. Not a bad thing, I love swords. I'm gravitating toward him or Sonic, with Olimar/Pikmin now as my have-some-fun-with character

Update today has details on "Challenges" aka Achievements. They're cramming so much into this game there's no way they'll ever be able to follow it up.

Let's hope the Feb 10th date doesn't slip again (though rumor has it will into March).

I don't think it's bragging-rights achievements so much as it is "how to unlock the unlockables". That's how I read it, anyway.

Anybody who's played Culdcept recognizes that format immediately, heh.

I still think the delays are due to Nintendo's inexperience with the "online battles with anyone" aspect. If you think Xbox Live has been slow lately, try playing a match of SSBB on release day. You'll be lucky to even get as far as the matchmaking menu.

Nintendo isn't ready to handle the millions of people who are going to buy this game and play online. This game is Nintendo's "Halo". Functional online matches are going to be an exercise in frustration the first few months. I'm sure they'll eventually iron it all out, but it will take a long time. It's a good thing the lifespan of Smash Brother's games are measured in years, as opposed to most games only being viable for a few months.

Sadly, her specials are all the same... did anybody else who loved sheik almost never use the daggers or chain, except when fooling around?

And the fact that Sheik has a separate portrait under "Characters" supports my belief that Zero Suit Samus is NOT a separately selectable character, but only the result of a final smash

I don't mind the delay. Hopefully, they use the extra month to fix whatever bugs they have, and to add more characters (like Mr. G&W). C'mon, Nintendo. Mr. G&W has like 1/500 of the animation of the other characters. It's not like he'd take that long to program.
