Like this? Show your custom stuff too =)

Yes, like that. Mine are not as detailed and I still need to get some stuff to really get started (also it's better to work on less detailed things at first, I really need to get used to the medium since I'm more of a painter). Mind you,the Amy one that's still in progress is my first one but I plan on making more and I'm curious if anyone would buy these things. Various gaming related things are available, and the more simpler the thing is the less expensive it will be.

Also my models wouldn't be shatter resistant polymer clay over a steel armature wire, like that one in the link. They would be just regular polymer clay, aka sculpey, super sculpey and the gray sculpey for extra fine details. On bigger models I'm going to do a steel armature wire base, with tin foil. I mostly use tin foil at this point and we'll se how my Amy will go. I'll attach a pic of the head. One more spike and I'll move on to the body and eventually fine details.

Oh, and the thing I'm making the head out of now is just regular sculpey which is cheaper and softer. When I move on to details I plan on purchasing some super sculpey.

Good details on the preliminary head. Depending on what you want to make, you might drum up some some interest for some CV ones.

These might also interest you, though they are not clay I don't believe:

My basis on what I'm making is really what people want to buy. I work on a request basis and most of the time I can tell if a thing is too difficult for me to construct at a certain time. One thing I'd like to construct is a Samus model, might do the zero suit version next when I get my tools and stuff. The Amy head is made completely with my hands, not with dentist tools or anything because I haven't gotten a chance to "steal" them from school yet.

And I've seen those videogame figures ages ago. They're really cool based on the material they're made of, that takes some skill. I saw them at DA a while back.

I will say that a painted Kid Dracula model of the picture in my avatar would be pretty awesome. I'd pay out for it if the details were close.

(with the proper color scheme taken from other Kid Drac art of course, since the Boku Dracula Kun manual this was taken from isnt "fully" color)

So you mean like the whole scene with the table and tv and everything? I could do it, the character model isn't too hard, you just need to figure out on how big you want the model to be. You probably have some better references than I have too (as big as you can get). If you could send me some refs via a pm or something I could look into it and actually buy some tools I need and see how much it would cost. It could take up to 2 months before I get everything I need though but the actual model making shouldn't take too long.

All sculpey packages cost 10-20 euros a piece but I can try and get a deal with my art teacher. Of course I wouldn't use a whole package of anything but it's still going to be expensive. I'd say it takes me about 30 euros in total for the materials. I can't say how much the model would cost with the scene but if you count, 30 euros is about 45 dollars. I'd say the model itself would cost about 70 dollars or so and you can get the scene for about 110+sh (depending on the size of course, it can be more expensive or less expensive). I'll still have to see about it though, I might reduce the price depending on how it turns out.

I dunno about the painting but I figure it's going to turn out well since I don't have to worry about shadow colors and such. Besides I'm more of a painter anyway (as Lux saw from my oil painting) so it shouldn't be a problem. I'm a perfectionist though so we'll see, But anyone who knows me knows I love insane detail and will work until somethings perfect, or as close as it can get. So you don't have to worry about lack of detail with me.

I'll attach the oil painting that I'm working on so you'll see my magnificent coloring skills with the brush. Ohoho, this is my first big scale painting too (20x23.5 inches).

I also do oil painting and various digital and traditional media artwork so I'm quite versatible.

EDIT:

I just ordered the dvd I need from massive black and hopefully in 1-2 weeks I can start ordering all the materials.

I was always wondering who this guy is. Do you guys know?

Some very nice stuff in that collection.

That's a nice painting HYB, I'll see about getting some scans together so you can see if you wanted to take a crack at the model/price it out/etc. I actually tweaked the original drawing slightly so that he has a keyboard and mouse just for kicks, but it's a pretty poor photoshop.

retro, I have heard that the guy who owns that site (is it dead? no updates since '06) will come on the Castlevania Dungeon forums now and then, but I can't recall the username. I haven't regularly frequented those forums in a while anyway, only when I have some content I want to share with the community or if there is a collection thread.

He does have some nice stuff, guides mostly. I've been after those Akumajo Densetsu Guides/doujins for a while to no avail.

The only CV keychain/cell phone strap that I know of is the one from the DXC konamistyle pak.

There might have been some a while back at Hot Topic since they had CV shirts and stuff but I'm not so sure since it's been a year or so. Yes, they were official. Yes, I shop at Hot Topic since it has such cool items despite being an 13 year old "goth" store :D.

Get me back on track about the figure stuff whenever you can Arasoi :D. Go sketch some thumbnails buahaha.

Hey bathead. I was playing Gokyujo Parodius for the SFC the other day. In this port Dracula is a playable character. (The character is named Dracula, his sprite is Kid Dracula)

Just thought I'd let you know, so you could add that game to your search :)

Arasoi
12-26-2007, 03:06 PM
There was a CV1 Simon cell phone strap a while back similar to the Richter one (depicting a whipping frame sprite) available via Konamistyle, I don't see it around much anymore.

Mills, I do have that Parodious game on SFC, as well as the PSX and Saturn ports of Jikkyo Oshaberi Parodius where he is also playable. I was on a "cameo game" hunt a year or two ago and was amassing all kinds of odd cameo games like these and Snatcher Sega CD, Hai No Majutsushi, Wai Wai World 1/2 etc.

I think I still need to get Ganbare Goemon 2, and Battle Tryst is always the expensive, elusive item to seek.

RadiantSvgun

Snatcher is wonderful. Not only do Simon and Dracula appear. If you talk to them they have a conversation about video games, and mention something like "I remember this one game Castlevania! Everyone hated it because you couldn't jump off the stairs. The teenage suicide rate went up that year."

Yep, it's pricey. =)

The Sega/Mega CD version is the only version with Simon/Drac in the club scene, the others have terminator/guyver/sci-fi etc characters. They changed those for localization due to fear of copyright issues I believe.

I got the Mega CD version myself, around the same price and it comes in a normal size CD jewel case (those tallboys are more prone to cracking)

HYB
01-02-2008, 01:46 AM
I don't think the whip has any real value. It's just a bit rare nowadays since you can't order them from konami anymore. People fake anything to make a buck really.

I just want it because I really like whips :B.

LuxKiller65
01-02-2008, 04:29 AM
Well, something doesn't have to be valuable in order to get some attention by pirates. Harmony and Aria cartridges aren't worth more than a couple of bucks but there are tons of pirates of them out there.

The seller seems like a nice guy though and probably has no idea it's a fake. And remember, this is just my opinion, I might as well be totally wrong. But then again, it's a different whip.

Lux, whats the scoop on these? I see them all the time, but I always suspect them. Are they legit? They don't seem to be the same as the reversible Japanese promo posters, as it has the US/PAL COD logo on it.

LuxKiller65
01-02-2008, 12:31 PM
That fake poster literally invaded eBay, eBay stores and many other online stores. The quality is pretty low (check the details and the white Curse of Darkness logo, instead of the gold legit logo). I have no idea how they thought they would get us with such a crappy fake... the logo is even on the wrong side.

Here's the fake one (better picture than the stock one from you link, by the way the Chronicles poster is also a fake one):

http://img30.picoodle.com/img/img30/4/1/2/f_codpiratewam_0b7f37e.jpg

And here's the legit U.K. poster (I'm sure you have it too but just for precision's sake):

Excellent, thanks Lux!

Another poster question, in that same photo you can see those POR PAL posters that are/were all over Evilbay.

I bought one super cheap a while back, but I always suspected it a little bit because it was on thin cardstock and not the usual poster materials. I know it has all the logos, but it might be from the original PSD printed on other paper.

Is that one a fake too, or just an oddball legit?

LuxKiller65
01-02-2008, 01:02 PM
Let me guess, you bought it from gamesfocus on ebay.co.uk?

LOL

It's a real one as far as I know. I've seen the same in Germany in a store where they got it from Konami for advertising, and it looked the same (same material and same picture with logos and everything). If it's still new it should feel and smell particular, you have more posters than me you should teach me!

I have one of those not legit CoD posters.

I wanted one because it looked cool :B. It has a death note poster on the other side so I can always switch to animu/sell it if I want to.

Now I only buy legit posters though. I weep for the yahoo japan products.

Oh, And Arasoi, I got the dvd, and I watched it so I'm all set on buying some tools and materials for the sculpture. It is going to be shatter resistant polymer clay unlike I said though, I never knew super sculpey was shatter resistant. It may take me a few weeks to hunt the tools and materials down/make my own. Get me back on what size you want it to be (the actual kid drac) and I can go and make some drawings and prints for sizing and evaluate the price.

One collectible that I have never seen complete in a collector's hands is a boxed Playchoice 10 Castlevania PCB with it's original sticker/placard:

http://i115.photobucket.com/albums/n310/Protogem/playch10-placard.png

The boxes are plan white boxes with "Nintendo Playchoice" printed on them, and the game name in generic print on the box face above that.

They're super rare to find on Ebay complete, though the boards do pop up now and then (scalped chips from NES carts are more common, these IMO are not collectible at all)

What is that, scalped chips from nes carts?

Arasoi
01-12-2008, 05:53 PM
Well, only some NES games made it to Playchoice (not a huge amount of them) but the Playchoice boards for many of the games are compatible with chips from other NES games. So what you often see is Ebay sellers selling Playchoice games but they are only the chips from an NES cart and not a real original Playchoice board.

Since the boards are not entirely generic, and have an identifier on them for what game they came with I don't really consider the chips collectible at all, just useful for a Playchoice machine owner who wants more games in his unit for cheaper.

LuxKiller65

I saw those pictures a few days ago, I was going to post them myself but I didn't get around to it. I know there are a number of castlevania homebrews/hacks that people are working on that use graphics and sprites from the DS games, so who knows. I highly doubt that the first thing we would see of a new Castlevania game would be a few lame random screenshots. Konami would be cool about it and drop cool hints left and right, probably release the title of the game first, then some decent screens.

I downloaded the ISO of Drac X Chronicles. The game so far is frustrating me, the bats are pissing me off. I just need to spend more time with it.

It was a major pain in the ass, but I'm pretty pleased with the results:

All high res and big pictures, the poster images are cobbled together from other older photos, the next big thing Im doing is scanning every poster I have in at super high res at work in the wide format scanner, so prints can be made of rare/expensive posters for those who enjoy playing more than collecting.

What is that Supervision cart? A pirate perhaps?

It is a pirate, but an interesting one IMO. It came in a box, which seems to be rare for pirates in general.

Gagagagaga. Arasoi I still love your poster collection.

I don't have any moneys to buy anything and it makes me a saaaaaaad panda. School work is killing me and so are the bills so Arasoi you're going to have to wait while I finish my oil painting to get the rest of the materials ordered for the sculpture.

WHY, oh why can't I find plumber's epoxy putty anywhere. It would be neccessary for the armature. I figure it's only available outside of Finland god dammit.

Oh, I'm back from my little hiatustustus. Exam week is over yay.

No worries, just let me know when you're ready and we'll start on it again.

Quick, let's post some useless messages here to get to the next page, so I don't have to wait three minutes everytime I want to check this topic at the last page!

I like pie. :D

It's good to have understanding commissioners hawhaw. Anyone know where I could find the plumber's epoxy putty? I figure Amazon would have it but I don't really like their shipping prices so much.
