The 32X could probably handle SOTN, Im not a huge expert on its hardware but the only limitation that comes to mind is the RAM. But.. it could probably be worked around. SOTN is a fairly port-able game, as evidenced by the rather shoddy KCET Saturn port, which still works decently despite no effort at Saturn hardware optimizations whatsoever.

That's a sweet poster! What's in the DoS box anyway? I have the SotN ost and the LoI sound sampler, any value to the sampler?

The DoS box is promotional stuff, like a poster, but only in box form. I asked myself on the previous page :)

But, I have a question about your Castlevania collection:
How much money have you putted on your impressive Castlevania collection?
Like thousands and thousand of dollars? -.-

The LOI sampler is fairly common.. 15-20 dollars at most.

More than is reasonable Im sure, lol. Couple grand, perhaps even more.. I think I quoted my total games expenditures at somewhere around 4000 in another thread, at least half that is CV. Im glad Im not married in any case, or my head would have been on a pike long ago. LOL

He's the toughest boss in the game to boot. Huge amount of HP, dont even go near him unless you're high level or know what you're doing. (IE, have the beryl circlet or Shield Rod + alucard shield combo)

I really like Castlevania, and the size of some of your collections makes me very sad. ;_; All I've Got:
Castlevania (NES)
Castlevania II (NES)
Castlevania III (NES)
Super Castlevania IV (SNES)
Castlevania: Dracula X (SNES)
SOTN
Circle of the Moon (GBA)
Harmony of Dissonance (GBA)
Aria of Sorrow (GBA)
Castlevania Double Pack (GBA)
Dawn of Sorrow (GBA)
Lament of Innocence (PS2)
Also, all cart based games are non complete (with the exception of Dawn of Sorrow and the Double Pack)

Actually, the 32x SotN could have been better in many respects - no need for loading rooms, for one. Of course the downside would've been the smaller cartridge and no CD-ROM quality audio (I'm sure they could've cooked up something nice though, Yamane had some experience on the Genesis and they would've had other sound programmers fresh out of the Genesis era to work on the project).

Agreed, though to keep media costs budget back in those days I imagine the cart size would be puny, resulting in massive content cutting and standard Yamaha renditions of the songs (though that would be very interesting to hear, especially with the 12 total audio channels on 32X cart)

A US port of Rondo of Blood would make me happy, along with other people around here.
Arasoi
08-04-2006, 12:28 AM
Its almost certain Rondo will end up on the Wii's virtual console feature. Kind of a letdown for those who want to collect it, but it will be translated and playable I imagine. The real fun will be seeing if the translated version could be put back into a real Rondo Bin/Cue and played on a real Duo/TG16. :D

Yeah, 32x cartridges were 2-4 megabytes (16-32mbit). As for the audio, hey, the Genesis was very capable, I'd give it a chance especially with the extra 32x channels.

An interesting development to be sure. I have to wonder if internal politics with Iga will keep the KCET Sega Saturn additions (playable Maria, Underground garden, Cursed Prison, etc) from being added in to this version.

I'm hoping they do some upgrades to SOTN on the 360 also, but more importantly, I'm hoping they'll get it to look a little more like Dawn of Sorrow with updated graphics and whatnot. How sweet would that be if they put some kind of multiplayer option in the game, I don't know how they'd do that but anything is possible. SOTN is going to be the best XBLA game to come out definately, sure would beat frogger any my books.

Since Iga himself requested Maria be added to the Saturn version...why not?
Really the reason that the Saturn version sucks is because they didn't get enough time to work on it. It'd be cool if they included the Saturn soundtrack as an alternate, though.

2. On the XBLA one will it have the CV3 Remix
3. What is Tranparant Effect
1. The Castlevania 3 remix tracks are of "The Beginning" they should be fairly easy to pick out because of their melody, I dont recall their specific track #s.
2. Unknown, the article seems to state that its the PS1 version so doubtful, we'll see.
3. Im not sure what you're asking. A transparency effect is when you can see through or partially see through a sprite or background layer. If this is in reference to the Saturn vs PSX versions of SOTN, then the Saturn has no such effects, it was all badly converted to 2d dithering effects, while the PSX version had actual transparency effects.

You just need a good currency converter:
http://www.xe.com/ucc/
I use this one, its pretty accurate. I guesstimate values on a lot of yen auctions.
Bidding on Yahoo Japan requires a middleman over there, or an auction service. I use these guys, as the fees are a bit less than others Ive dealt with:

Just be sure to read up on their fees and shipping charges before bidding, so you know what to expect.

I own Castlevania 1,2 and 3 for the NES. And I don't have those things like "boxes" and "Manuals" to get in the way. 8-)

The Castlevania/Contra collection is a decent buy, the main issue I have with it is that its 20 dollars for an NES emulator and ROMs on a CD. No bonus materials at all. At least Konami updated the ROMs a bit with new copyrights and fixed CV2 up a little.
