Well, it's hard to follow up after Cauterize, but I do have some good finds and a nice eye candy picture to follow.
Just when I was about to give up on my local flea market (gaming finds are very slim), one of the vendors I've bought games from in the past brought a ****load of boxed, complete NES games! When he saw me coming he told me about having three boxes full of NES games. 5 for $20 was the rate, and I didn't want to spend more then $60, so I had to be selective (I had previously spent money on 5 SNES titles for $20). In the picture below are 15 NES titles and 5 SNES games (4 with dust sleeves):
http://img115.imageshack.us/img115/5873/im000401ts4.th.jpg (http://img115.imageshack.us/my.php?image=im000401ts4.jpg)
For those who are bothered by clicking on Imageshack pictures to see a big picture (sorry, I'm a computer idiot and don't know how to put full sized pictures on the message board like others), here's the list:
NES (all complete, inlcuding styrofoam bottom):
- Demon Sword
- Wurm: Journey to the Center of the Earth
- Metal Storm :D
- Legacy of the Wizard :D
- Batman: Return of the Joker
- Legendary Wings
- Journey to Silius
- Rygar
- Solomon's Key
- Arkista's Ring
- Adventure Island
- Astyanax
- Ikari III: The Rescue
- Zanac (some water damage to the lower left of the box)
- Bionic Commando
SNES (dirty as hell at the moment):
- Lagoon
- Castlevania IV
- U.N. Squadron
- Super Bomberman
- Breath of Fire
He said he has more for next week, so I'll be picking them up along with some that I left. I had to pick titles fast today, as during my search, another classic gamer showed up and started picking up some of the NES games (including a complete SMB3 I was eyeballing).[/img]

not the greatest finds but hey its stuff:
since once again the world likes to thrust sega crap at me and i'm too stupid to not buy it I picked this pile up for under 20$
http://www.green-ranger.com/nes/finds/pinball.jpg
I had the 3 button genesis controller like this, and i'm surprised to see they released a 6 button version in the same shape, the only one i found back in the day was the uber shitty fighter stick version, kinda neat to find this and i even got to test that shitty pile of genesis games i got a few weeks ago with it)
the ps1 controller has me a little confused, when the ps1 was first released my friend bought the system with toshinden and two sony brand joysticks that were the EXACT same controllers, however these ones clearly say ascii on them, is there any interesting story behind this?
pinball was the first nes game i've found in awile and i coudln't leave it alll alone by itself even though i already had it, the sonic handheld..thing was amusing already in the shopping basket that I picked up when i went into savers so I just left it in there and ironicly wasn't charged for it at the register (fat bitch was too busy talking on the phone to ring me up correctly so yay for that)

the ps1 controller has me a little confused, when the ps1 was first released my friend bought the system with toshinden and two sony brand joysticks that were the EXACT same controllers, however these ones clearly say ascii on them, is there any interesting story behind this?
That is the official PS1 stick. ASCII manufactured them, and Sony licensed them as the official stick, kind of like how they license the Hori sticks (JPN only) for the PS2. It's a decent stick IMO, especially since the joystick uses arcade switches.
And btw, what's your opinion on the 6-button Genny controller? I have both the 3-button and the 6-button official controllers, and while I prefer the sticks throw on the 6-button one over the 3-button one (it has a wider range), the face buttons are utter shit.
Blitzwing256
07-02-2006, 05:29 PM
hmm but that doesn't quite explain why theres one that says sony and then the one i just got says asci and doesn't have "sony" on the connnector, if I can find my old ones i'll take a picture.
as for the 3/6 button sega controllers, I don't recall having a problem with the 3 button one, but i noticed yesterday when I was playing bloodlines when i tried to whip too fast or make too many quick jumps the button would "Stick" so you couldn't press it too fast, I don't beleive the 3 button did this, but otherwise I like the stick.
my one complaint on the ps1 stick is its so CLICKY, ever try playing a fast paced action game with it ?

So I returned it and got Dragon Quest VIII. And then this afternoon on Ebay, I won a near complete (no manual) copy of Dragon Warrior VII for $16.50.

That's exactly why I like the stick. ASCII used real arcade switches for the stick, instead of crappy carbon dots that you find in the NES Advantage, Sega Genesis sticks, and all controller control pads (they're fine on controllers though).

Took a road trip to hit up some thrifts and SA. Came away with the following:
Genesis:
John Madden Football '93
Judge Dredd
NFL 95
PGA Tour Golf 2
Team USA Basketball
Truxton
Games were $2 each. All but Truxton are boxed some are missing manuals, but I've got the missing parts to make them each complete.
Dreamcast system & controller - $5
The SA really came through for me.
Saturn:
Earthworm Jim 2
Guardian Heroes - Loose :( - Price $1.00 :D Even though it's not complete I'm quite happy finally finding the game itself. Both games were buried in a box among the books. What caught my eye was the end of a PSX A/V cord sticking out of the box. So I decided to see what was lurking in it. Glad I did.
Playstation:
5 Lightspan games. All loose.

Flea Market..
Vendor I know had a pile of around 30 PS2 games and PS games..$2.00 each if I bought the lot..It would of cost me $60.00
I didn't feel like spending $60.00 bucks.,most of the PS titles I have already...As I was looking through the games a guy walks up and asks how much for the two PS2 games (that I have in the picture)..Vendor says $5.00 each but noted that they may be sold to me....
......I told the guy wanting to buy them to go ahead and take them, that I'm not going to buy any..The guy only wanted to pay $1.00 each for the PS2 titles though..(how about $1.00 each)..I looked at the vendor with a laugh and the vendor said F him,he's crazy.. LOL
I leave,I think it over, come back and grab those two PS2 games and a PS title for $12.00..(none of the discs have any scratches on them and I don't own them already)

Stuff I've bought recently.
Hitman: Blood Money - £20 new. Gamestation Deal of the Week.
Medal of Honor: European Assault - £6 new from Amazon.
Silent Hill 3 - £9 used.
Max Payne - £3 used.
From a local game shop.
New Super Mario Brothers - £20 new.
GTA: Liberty City Stories - £10 new.
I got these two for £40 but used a free £5 Amazon voucher then got a £5 refund because a game I bought a month ago had come down in price.
The old games were £1 each, apart from Super Bomberman 2, which was £4. Rolo to the Rescue is the Genesis version (R6/$20).
I was in PCWorld buying some memory for my laptop and I noticed Resident Evil 4 for the PS2 was in the £5 bin. I should have bought it but I decided I had enough games for now. They also had destroy all humans for PS2 and Xbox in the £3 bin. I might go back tomorrow.

Some pretty awesome finds already for July everybody! Are a lot of you getting sales discounts from holidays or something because those are some below normal prices for a ton of those finds.
Cauterize:
You have a really nice haul there, and some decent prices. Quick question though:
Is your (p) currency GB pounds or fractions of a pound per 100? Asking because 75p per NES controller would be pretty steep unless it were 0.75P? Sorry for being American and never been to England, let alone Europe.
Trumpman
07-04-2006, 08:39 PM
Even though I am not from England, I can explain this one. Before the 70s, England had a very confusing money system with schillings, pounds, pennies, pence, etc. Then they changed to a system like ours where 100 pence = 1 pound. Also, the lowercase p means pence, not pounds. There is a special pounds symbol that kind of looks like an L.
Therefore, Cauterize gets awesome deals!
cyberfluxor
07-05-2006, 12:20 AM
Good good good. It was what I was thinking and just wanted to be sure because usually I see people posting 0.xx pounds or what have you, not the lowercase p.

No pictures (maybe I'll put some up in the blog later).
Stopped by the Goodwill Store in Vacaville today, picked up two Game Boy Pockets: Yellow (works properly, but a bunch of spots of what looks almost like dried gum on the back) and "Limited Edition" Ice Blue (in very nice condition).
Each one had a game in it (Star Wars and Legend of Zelda: LA).
Total cost? About four bucks. :D :D :D Four dollars per GBP and game, then 50% discount (I have no idea where it came from, but I shall complain not).

I went back today and saw that the sign said "from £2.97" and "from £4.97". I took the games to the counter to check the price and they were actually £30 each. I couldn't really argue, seeing as the games had the full price stickers on them and the signs said "from". Still, it was a bit misleading.
Some pretty awesome finds already for July everybody! Are a lot of you getting sales discounts from holidays or something because those are some below normal prices for a ton of those finds.
Medal of Honor: European Assault was on special from Amazon.
They were doing a special offer before the World Cup where they gave you a £5 voucher if you spent more than £20 by the 5th of June. I bought Super Mario 64 DS for £23 to get the voucher. Then when I bought the next two games, I saw Mario 64 DS was £18, so I got £5 back.
Gamestation have a "deal of the week" each week where a certain new game is £20.
The old games were £1.99, buy one get one free. Gamestation usually always has a BOGOF on old games under £10.

I've got a BUNCH to upload, but here's some to start:
Grail Time!
I got the most valuable Neo CD game, a quite minty Chotetsu Brikinger!
http://img260.imageshack.us/img260/1044/brikinger3qm.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
Here's 4 more games I picked up as well:
http://img54.imageshack.us/img54/5554/ngcd15uu.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
All games are complete with spine card (some of them just have them inside the case). The Zipang is sealed.
http://img288.imageshack.us/img288/2364/ngcd25hp.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
Again, all have spine cards... I now have all the Neo CD shooters except ASOII, and that's because I am waiting for a super-mint version to pop up. Plus, I refuse to buy online, only in the wild :)

Part of the Konami booth at E3 2004. Only one in existence and graced by the presence of Kojima himself. Got it for just $80, which I think is a pretty damn good deal.

Genesis:
Mortal Kombat (C - $0.59) Great condition
Rambo 3 (C - $0.59) Nice, very little fading
Robocop 3 (L - $0.49) Great condition
TMNT Fighters (L - $0.99) Wear on edge but great overall
Doom Troopers (L - $0.49) Very nice
Contra Hard Corps (L - $0.49) Decent/fair
6-Pak (L - $0.99) Pretty poor but readable and resellable :)
Dreamcast:
Sega GT (C - $1.00) Great, some light scratches
NES:
Nobunaga's Ambition (L - $1.99) Nearly mint
PC/DOS:
Descent to Undermountain (C - $1) Flawless
Couldn't pass up some of those deals. I know some are quite common (ie MK1) but don't have it complete so it's nice to pick it up. Never heard of Descent to Undermountain and am reading some poor reviews, but I got it for the price and because it's by Interplay using their Descent 3D Engine. Thought it'd be a nice small investment to check out what they did. And yes, it's a DND game.

$15.00 after tax.
This is my all time favorite 5200 game. I've still got my original cart from back in the day that will be for playing. This copy will just be for display.
Finally, a local game store got a used but CIB Steel Battalion traded in. Took some dup items in for trade along with a 20% off coupon. Ended up costing $71.00 after tax.

QUITE sadly, there is no disc inside of this. there was a $5.99 sticker on the case, and i asked the goodwill cashier if it was possible to get it for a little less. the manager said that since there was no disc, i could have it for $.99, and a sale was made. if the disc itself is still hiding in the goodwill somewhere, hopefully fate will draw us together...

Got my Saturn eBay order in today so here's a picture of those and what I got yesterday at the pawn:
http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c196/cyberfluxor/070606.jpg
Obviously you can just read the titles, but incase anyone is color blind or visually impared:
Saturn:
Tomb Raider
Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3
Rampage World Tour
D
Mega Man 8: Anniversary Collector's Edition
Scud: The Disposable Assassin
If anyone has an Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3 back/side slide let me know, this MK3 didn't come with one, but did have Shinobi Legions and Street Fighter Alpha, so I could trade if you just have a loose back cover. Also the Mega Man 8 game has a manual that's missing all the mass! It just has the cover page so if anyone has a manual I'd also be willing to buy it.
