I had Heart of the Alien for the Sega CD in 1995. It was hard, but I don't remember it being awful. Then again, I used to listen to Stone Temple Pilots back then, so my taste at that age was suspect.

I also like Yo! Noid a lot; in fact, most brazilian gamers love it. It was a surprise when I found out people don't really dig it elsewhere (that's the case with Rock n' Roll Racing too - one of my all time favorites).

Here's some of mine:

All of the Call of Duty games and Guitar Hero games. Bear with me here. A lot of people like these games. However, there's a LOT of very vocal hate on the internet for both of these game franchises, and Activision in general. GH offered new music to play each year when they were still releasing them, and CoD continues to offer an addictive online Multiplayer mode and new Campaigns yearly. Sure it's the same formula, but it works good...which is what the haters hate about CoD. Not enough "innovation". Screw innovation, I know that when I buy CoD, I know I'm getting one hell of a Single Player campaign that is very action-packed with fast-paced gameplay and one of the best online Multiplayer systems out there. At least Activision isn't releasing the same exact game as last years (Black Ops), keeping the exact same campaign, levels and everything, only changing up the online component, and charging full price for it. Oh wait, that would be the Madden NFL games.

Other games that fit here:

-Crazy Taxi 3: High Roller (Xbox)
-Got average/below average reviews just because the critics were tired of the CT formula. What they don't realize is that it's one of the best Crazy Taxi's out there that refines the gameplay, adds in a new city to drive in (Glitter Oasis), and has the Small Apple from CT 2 and the West Coast from CT 1, with the ability to use EVERY Crazy Taxi driver on there. I absolutely love it, tons of replay value here.

-Destruction Derby Arenas (PS2)
-This game is loads of fun, especially with two players. Don't understand all the hate for it when the game is a fun challenge. I loved Destruction Derby 2 on the PS1 so this was awesome first playing this game. Lots of mayhem and lots of destruction. My only complaint is that there is a very repetitive announcer guy in the game.

-Sonic Unleashed (PS2, Xbox 360, PS3, Wii)
-Full Auto (Xbox 360)

-Power Gig: Rise of the Sixstring (Xbox 360): Bought this game only for only $20. It's got a solid soundtrack, and isn't as painful to play as people say it is. While the storyline and the cutscenes may seem cheesy, I see it as being inspired by GH: WoR having their own Quest mode. It's not terrible, but it's not great either. What makes this game slightly better than Rock Revolution is that all of the songs are Master Tracks. If I can get this game calibrated right to play on my HDTV then I would play this more often.

-Tony Hawk's Proving Ground (Xbox 360): This game is probably one of the best TH games, mostly due to the HUGE area you can skate around in without any loading times, and the tons of new tricks at your disposal. Completely ignored by the gaming media just because the game plays the "same". They ignored the new levels, tricks, skaters, and challenges added to the game. Definitely worth picking up if you are new to the Tony Hawk games or are a Pro at it.

Bugs Bunny's Crazy Castle- This was one of the first games I ever played back when I was four years old and I still dig it.

Double Dungeons- I think the reason this game is hated so much is that to really get the most out of it you have to use your imagination and a lot of people lose the ability to do that as they get older. When I play, I always name my charater Dirk and pretend I'm Dirk The Daring off on another adventure. It's fun.

And speaking of him...

Dragon's Lair- The timing takes some geting used to, but once you do it's a fantastic game. It helps that I'm a big fan of Don Bluth.

There's several NES games that are usually mentioned in top 10 worst lists that I actually kind of like and, considering the quantity of truly bad NES titles such as Jeopardy, Dragon's Lair, Win Lose or Draw, Muppet Adventure, Barbie, John Elway Quarterback and most LJN games, I don't really see why these games are singled out. There's Heroes of the Lance ported for the NES. It's a short game, about 7 minutes or 15-20 minutes if you try to max the score, and easy to complete in one session. Most of the criticism on YouTube is by people who haven't read the manual and don't understand how the controls work or how the "map" works, so they all jump into the chasm on the first screen and die. It actually kind of guides you through the screens so there's really no need for mapping. The gully dwarves are a nuisance but you can simply jump over them, and they really aren't hard to defeat. The graphics are outdated and it's fairly cheesy, the girl looks like Miss Piggy in a metal bikini and so forth, but I find the music and gameplay relaxing for the 15 minute length so it has some replay value. There's a lack of computer ports to the NES so I appreciate it at least for the attempt. Also, Deadly Towers is not bad every now and then for a challenge. I usually die on the first screen when the rat hits me, but I like to think that if I ever get serious about it, I could reach the towers and collect the bells. And then there's Hydlide, another game which I actually completed. It's an okay game for it's time and I kind of like levelling up killing off those blobs, although it's not something I'll be playing on a regular basis. Also, Chubby Cherub, Cybernoid, Pirates, Mach Rider and King's Knight. I like shooters, and King's Knight is easier once I figured out the continue Select-A-arrow up/down-Start sequence.

I really liked Oni on the PC from Bungie. Sure it had no music, or a multiplayer. The reviews were kinda horrible too, but it was fun to play and had a great story.

Final Fantasy 8 (Playstation) I liked the story no one else seemed to
Chiki Chiki boys (Sega Genesis) Ive only heard a few people talk about this game but ive heard nothing good but i just bought it over the weekend and i like it even tho its a little "kiddy"

I loved Chiki Chiki Boys right from the start. Very entertaining platformer with a decent difficulty.


For me that game is deffinitely Adventure Island for NES.

Another one I immediately fell in love after first playing it. I mean, come on! It has dinosaurs... :D


I'm LOVING Astonishia Story. I know it got universal medicore reviews (and for good reason, because the game really does suck) but there's an incredible charm to it. Mostly in its old school execution but also with it's absolutely INSANE forth-wall breaking humor.

I won't spoil it, but just grab a copy and play till about the third hour mark. Look for the crazy Earthbound-style characters. Yeah, you heard me.

I just got a PSP and I'm still wondering which RPGs to get. Read lots of reviews but not all were really helpfull. This description on the other hand makes me wanna buy the game. Old-school execution sounds like the thing I'm after and insane humor even more. Thanks for pointing that out.



NES Tiger-Heli also floats my boat in all it's sucky goodness. It just has neat music.


I can't remember the music but I did love that game. I was a huge fan of all those 1941, Swiv and Tiger Heli games. Shooting military is great fun. The only thing that sucked was that the game had no real ending.


Final Fantasy Mystic Quest. It's my favorite game of all time.

I wouldn't go that far but it was among the first RPGs I got (oh, those were the days...) and it was a nice experience. And lead to my love for RPGs in general to thumbs up for it.


I'm replaying Fallout-Brotherhood of Steel on the Xbox right now. Everyone seems to hate this game. But then, they also state that they're huge Fallout fans and don't like the way the game deviated from the original. I've never played the original Fallout (even though I own it for the Mac), so I had no reason to dislike the game. I found it to be a fun action game with RPG elements. I'm playing it for the fourth time through.

Hell yeah, among my favourite NES games for sure!! The soundtrack was ace and the gameplay was damn addicitve. I think that's where I got the thing for hack'n'slay RPGs and collecting items .

Y'know, it's funny that you say that... My nephew wanted to play my Xbox, and after a few games we played Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel for a couple hours. He then wanted to try out Baldur's Gate, which was sealed so I had never played the game before. Once I popped it into the machine, I realized that they are pretty much the same game. They both use the same engine, every aspect of Fallout: BoS is also in Baldur's Gate, even down to the menu system and the level up screens. The early missions are pretty much the same too, in Brotherhood of Steel you have to go into the warehouse to kill off rats and radscorpions, and in Baldur's Gate you have to go into the basement and kill off rats and some other kind of pests. The main difference is that Baldur's Gate has much more refined graphics, whereas Fallout: BoS looks like it has lower polygon counts on everything.

So all those people out there that love Baldur's Gate and can't stand Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel need to be smacked in the face with a wet mop.

While I can't truly say that I "love" the game, I do, for some strange reason not quite fully understood even by myself, kinda dig Urban Champion for the NES. I honestly can say that I think a neo-retro sequel to the game would be a damn cool thing if handled properly.

I absolutely LOVED Banjo Kazooie. And yes I know a lot of people do, but there are just as many who don't care for or outright trash the game.. unbelievable :hmm: :P

Many people don't care for the SNES Super Scope and it's library, but I am a major fan of this battery-sucking, Bazooka-resembling, gray-bohemith! It has so many fun games that no one else seems to appreciate :(

How do you enjoy that. It's like playing a Powerpoint document. I regret to say that I own it. Unless the nudity behind the censors which can be removed by a cheat code is mind blowingly amazing in it's already horrible quality, I'd have to agree with the negative 15.

I love' The Grid! You either love it or you hate it because it's so retro and oldschool, yet so modern and cool and unique at the same time in many ways - It's an addicting little retro strategy multiplayer game you can play in your web browser. It has elements of Risk, like taking over the board/screen, one square at a time, but you can also build up stats like gold, cities, farms, wizards, and become an overlord and rule forever - or play as a villain, wreaking havoc from the skies!

Game I love so much is Angry Birds, which is my all time favorite game. But most of the people say that it is very silly game and don't show that much interest towards that game. They say that the audio of this game is irritating. But I love this game because by playing this game you can gain the important skills like critical thinking and mental abilities.
