Orrimarrko,
Thanks for the list, it was very helpful. I can see that 360 collecting is going to be extremely painful with so many store exclusives >_<. I pity anyone trying to collect every variant for the system.
You're welcome. I enjoy it, and unlike the DS list which I used to do here, there aren't 5-10 games a week coming out for the 360. (Man that DS library is going to be HUGE!)
Anyway, I'm trying to do what I can for the system in terms of identification and actual collecting.
If anyone spots a variant that I've missed, please let me know - and then pick me up a copy! ;)

I actually saw the LE of RSV just the other day, used, at a GS. Anyway, some Toys R Us retailers have been breaking the streetdate of BioShock, and on Neo-Gaf (forum) some users have gotten a hold of the regular editions. But, from these pics it looks like there is the basic 360 version but also a glossy, shiny version.

and

Now there might be two regular editions, but I do not know. It doesnt seem like it is the LE of BioShock because that game case looks like this.

Everyone keep their eyes peeled!
There are only two releases - the regular one, and the Limited Edition Gamestop Exclusive (yep, another exclusive!)
I think it's just a light reflection that you're referring to.

Actually its looking like BioShock is coming in a shiny paper slipcover, much like the LE for R6:Vegas has. You can see the 'hologram' effect on that picture with the copy of Bioshock and that Elite 360.

I saw a Two Worlds 2 Disk Collector's Edition today at Gamestop for $69.99. According to IGN the Collector's Edition comes in a stunning holographic slipcase packaging and includes a map of the expansive world, a bonus Pen and Paper 72 page color fantasy RPG book along with a second disc packed with bonus music and video content, such as web kit that allows players to create fansites. The Xbox 360 version also includes a 48 Hour Xbox Live Gold Trial card.

Yep - I have to add the two new games (Bioshock, Two Worlds) and their respective Collector's Editions.
I'll be adding them soon.

Howdy folks - I'm back!
Never truly left completely, just needed a breather. Anyway, I'm hoping to get back into things full swing and have tried to do my homework.
Let me know what I'm missing, and I'll be happy to get it added ASAP!
Thanks as always for everyone's help!!

And you also dont see the green Xbox case border on the BioShock in the second pic.
Here's the deal with Bioshock...
There are two releases.
The "regular release" is the basic case with insert, and it comes inside a cardboard slip cover (like Madden 07 Hall of Fame Edition). The "shiny" that you see is on the slip cover only. If you find one without the slipcover, then it's not complete or it's used.
The second version, as you know, is the Limited Edition. It comes inside an oversized box, with a sealed Big Daddy figure, and a larger snap case containing three discs. This was a Gamestop/EB exclusive release, and is sold out. This one will be pricey for a long time (my spidey-sense tells me.)
There aren't three releases for this (like Halo 3 will have - Arrggh!)
P.S. - The list has been updated through 8/27.

Is there going to be an offical Best Buy release with every game now? Thats getting kinda old.

Is there going to be an offical Best Buy release with every game now? Thats getting kinda old.
LOL - seriously.
The funny part is that these are mostly a sticker on the outside of the snapcase (but under the shrinkwrap), or are printed on the insert.
Inside, there's just a piece of paper with the code on it, and that's all.
It's not really a special edition or anything, just an exclusive sales feature.
It's definitely getting old.
The problem for me is to determine exactly how much I want to pay attention to some of these details.
For example - let's look at three different releases:
Stuntman: Ignition
There's a release with nothing on the insert.
There's a release with a "FREE Movie Ticket Inside" printed on the insert.
There's a release with no "FREE Movie Ticket Inside" on the insert, but with the Target Exclusive information sticker.
There's a release with no "FREE Movie Ticket Inside" on the insert, but with the Best Buy Exclusive information sticker.
There's a release with no "FREE Movie Ticket Inside" on the insert, but with the Circuit City Exclusive information sticker.
So, that's technically 5 releases of Stuntman: Ignition. However, I haven't mentioned any other re-releases.
Which brings me to example #2:
Eragon
There's a standard release with nothing on the insert.
There's a release with a "FREE Movie Ticket Inside" printed on the insert.
Should I care? If I want to be complete, then of course I do. But ultimately, it's only a re-release (The version with the FREE ticket was the first one.) There are other re-releases that have this exact same issue.
Which brings me to example #3:
Gears of War
There's the standard original release with nothing on the insert.
There's the Limited Edition Collector's release.
There's a new re-release with the gold starburst on the insert (Game of the Year info).
Again - I'm not sure if I need to have a new category for re-releases, or just ignore them.
I'm open to thoughts on the subject...
Thanks,
Steve

My Call of Duty 2 2005 GOTYE release has a designation on the spine and a "Free Bonus DVD See Reverse For Details" red circle stamp on the insert, and the bonus DVD comes in a white paper CD sleeve/envelope with the title "Collector's Bonus DVD" on it.
How did you find the TRU version - eBay, used at a B&M store, or NOS still at TRU?

I still have more to add to the Call of Duty 2 list (unfortunately.)
I got my copy NOS at TRU yesterday, and they had one more left.

I'm thinking of just doing a list, alphabetically, which has each of the known variants for each title, rather than breaking them down as I have been.
What does everyone think? Would that be more helpful, or is this more helpful?
I think that it would be easier to read that way. Could we also add the actual differences to the games in the list. Like PD0 platinum hits adds new maps, right?

I think that I've decided to list all the versions of each title alphabetically, and bold the main title.
That way, if you're just interested about the game, regardless of the other packaging info, you can see them clearly. Or, if you're like me, you can see all of the collecting options.
By the way, I encountered a different John Woo Presents: Stranglehold today.
It was at Wal-Mart, and it was for the regular release, not the Collector's Edition.
There was a small offer logo on the bottom of the front insert that read something like, "Bonus - collectible art book inside".
I wrote it down and will update the list with the actual wording later today.
LOTS of variants for you retentives out there! ;) (I'm one myself.)

Can I suggest something like this, with the special editions info:
While I certainly appreciate the suggestion, I'm going to think about how I want to do it.
However, I can definitely say that I won't abbreviate - it's too confusing to the casual reader.
I've been asked recently to take care of the 360 Online guide here at DP, so I'm going to make it easy on myself and fashion the list in a way that I won't have to duplicate my efforts.
More to come for sure...
Peace,
Orri~
Alright, that's cool. I just find it hard to find info about the actual content differences. Like on SNES games, I always wondered what the difference between MM:X 1.0 and 1.1. I think it would be cool to have an indepth list that has these things. But anyway.....
I have an off topic question. I bought Prey LCE from gamestop used and the game disc came in a sleeve. Did this come in a sleeve or is there a 'part' I am missing?
Oh and thanks for the awesome list!

I have an off topic question. I bought Prey LCE from gamestop used and the game disc came in a sleeve. Did this come in a sleeve or is there a 'part' I am missing?
I used to have this game. There is a hard foam nub attached the actual tin on the bottom of the cases to put the disc on. It's beneath the inserts. It's a really lame mount for such a great LE set. Your better off with the paper sleeve.
Thanks briskbc. I just ripped apart my copy, and am just amazed. I wonder how many people took the game back claiming there was no disc! But yeah thanks agian.

WOW!
What a HUGE day in the library of the 360!!
Many releases today, some new, some old.
I'll be updating the list soon.
New Titles:
Elder Scrolls IV, The: Oblivion (Game of the Year Edition)
Fatal Inertia
Kengo: Legend of the 9
NHL 08
NHL 2K8
Platinum Hits:
Disney/Pixar's Cars
F.E.A.R.
WWE SmackDown! vs. RAW 2007
PLUS: I spent over 2 1/2 hours at various locations cataloguing every package offer and insert variant that I could find, or had never seen before.
(For Example: Stuntman: Ignition has 6 (yes 6!) releases (an offerless version, a movie ticket version, and 4 retail exclusives); Eragon has 3 releases (an offerless version and 2 different movie related offers); Cabela's Alaskan Adventures has 3 releases as well (an offerless version, and 2 different magazine related offers).)
Believe me, the list is very, very big.
It will take me a little while to incorporate in into the master list, but I will as soon as I can.
Until then - the only other thing I can say is that September will continue to be busy - Skate comes out on Friday, Eternal Sonata next week, and then...
HALO 3!
For now - peace!

Another fairly HUGE day in the library of the 360!!
Many releases today and a couple tomorrow.
I'll be updating the list soon.
New Titles:
Eternal Sonata
Skate
Orochi Warriors
Juiced 2
Blazing Angels II
PLUS: Yep, you guessed it - more packaging variants!
(Two of note: LOTR: BFME now is shipped with an ign.com Winner 2006 logo on the insert, and I acutally bought the Battlestations: Midway Sam's Club exclusive - with Sam's Club logo on the insert. Neat!)
The list is getting very, very big. Damn Best Buy and their "CODES"!

Went to Best Buy this evening, and got my SmackDown vs. Raw 2008 demo disc. $5 for a demo is cheap, considering it would cost $2 minimum to have one shipped to me.
Also snagged 4 of the Tony Hawk Proving Ground Demo Discs. They were free, and they had about 20 of them.
So, if anyone ends up missing this, and has a demo to trade, let me know.

Actually, you beat me to the post...
I can confirm not only are there two packaging variations on the SmackDown vs Raw 2008 demo disc, but where you can find each.
The regular sized 360 case demo disc can be found at your local Best Buy - and for $5, it can be yours. Of course, it's a pre-order bonus, so your $5 goes towards the game when it comes out in November.
The full color cardboard slipcover (small; square) can be found at your local GameStop or EB Games. It's their pre-order bonus, and with a like $5 down payment, you'll be reserving your copy.
I have both, and they look kind of cool together, to be honest...
Now I just have to get my hands on the All-Pro Football demo disc; the Call of Duty 3 Walmart exclusive (with Bonus Soundtrack); and some of the remaining kiosk demo discs, and I'll be in good shape!
Also, don't worry folks - I haven't updated the list in a little bit, but I have all the info, and more.
I'm working on a major overhaul to the presentation of the list, and it will hopefully be easier to follow and manage.
If they would just stop with the damn insert variants and bonus offers!
NBA Live 08 really needed an insert variant... :(

Yep - I picked that one up on release day. My local GS gives me a copy of their demo giveaways if I ask nicely.
Something else to note - there are two demo versions of Saints Row and Smackdown vs Raw 2008.
The versions are similar in that there's one in the small square cardboard sleeve, and one in the full-sized snap case. This is the case for each title.
There's a Mass effect demo disc as a pre-order for the release next month.

Here's another variant for you - Time Shift - from Gamestop. Apparently those who pre-ordered the game got a different version from everyone else. The outer sleeve has a yellow rectangle stamped on it stating "Exclusive Behind the Scenes DVD Inside!" and inside the game case in a paper sleeve is the DVD.
I also picked up the Assassin's Creed Limited Edition yesterday. Seems to be another cheap LE, like WWE Smackdown! vs Raw 2007 SE.

Yes, you're correct on both counts.
The pre-order Gamestop Timeshift has that gold offer rectangle on the front insert.
The Assassin's Creed LE is disappointing, as I thought it would be more like the BioShock LE, but nonetheless...
To those of you who've asked if I'm still updating the list - yes, absolutely.

I expect to finish up soon, so hang in there!

Careful! The Mass Effect Limited Edition is a Gamestop Exclusive - ONLINE ONLY!!
You have to order it online through Gamestop.com; that's the only place to get them.

It comes with different box art and a cardboard sleeve over the case. There is also a free offer for a 1 year subscription for Transworld SKATEboarding Magazine.

Sorry to dig up an old thread, but I noticed the online rarity guide is a bit out of date, and this list is very old too. Are there any online lists of all 360 games released to date? I know RF generation is pretty current, and I am a member there, but what I am really looking for is simply a list of all games released (excluding XBLA games) and their release dates. I would like to know the toal # of games released.
I am also looking for a list of exclusives, not collector's editions. Any help is greatly appreciated.
As it stands, I currently have 280+ games for the 360 and am looking for a list that I can look at to see what I am missing.
Thanks!

True, but if he's going for a US 360 collection (which I was assuming) then the site is listing all the games since it's a US centric site. Maybe I should have put a note down that said this wasn't referencing exclusives, but just the general list of all games. The forums for each game tends to hold enough info for one to gleam off release dates for games too, not that those are directly referenced there.

Thanks. This may sound stupid, but do all games have achievements? Is there a chance a game is not listed there because there are none?
Also, I see the list does not distinguish between US/EU/JP releases, unless you open each game to find out if it has been released in your region. This should give me a head start though.
The exclusives are really out of control. Take for instance Ghostbusters. There is an Amazon.com CE exclusive as well as Gamestop and Best Buy exclusives with DLC or unlock codes. Another one was Marvel Ultimate Alliance. I believe Target and Walmart had exclusives for DLC or unlock codes for Daredevil and Silver Surfer. Then you have the Gold Edition and Platinum Hits versions as well. I almost forgot Call of Duty 2 and 3 had several exclusives and re-releases as well.

Don't forget about the ton of Wal-mart Exclusives (such as Section 8 with a patch).
All Retail and Xbox Live Arcade games have achievements. The only games that do NOT have achievements are indie games, which are only available via download on Xbox Live.
