I suppose thats the PSP that you got earlier. How did you get it for that cheap? :)

I bought my sister donkey kong nes classic. She wanted it complete, and it came to be about $35. Ever since I bought her a DS for Christmas, she said she hasn't touched the thing. So instead of giving me money, she gave me the psp. I'm psyched, I can't wait to get Salamander portable and Star Soldier for it.

A bunch of my friends went to D.C. to watch the movie since it wasn't released in theaters around here. I wasn't able to take the time off to trip up there with them but I got to see it on TV last year. I believe it's Cinemax that keeps showing it becase it was on last night.

Got a pair of GameCube titles today...

Gun
Pool Paradise

I wasn't even aware of the latter's existance until recently. Is this the only pool (billiards) game made for the GameCube? Maybe. I also got the booklet for Mario Party 6. I ordered this from Nintendo Power and there was a chance I would only get a photo copy of it but I was happy to see I did get an original full-color copy.

Glad to hear you got the original booklet. I know how hard it can be to track down just a box or instructions for a game you already have.

Oh, well, there were two employees: The girl said she didn't mind if I bought more than one copy. The guy, however, seemed a bit nerdy, and was surprised when he saw the price on the thing. So he may snatch them up now. Who knows.

This same girl works at the other Gamestop a town away, I was surprised to see her in my store! I asked her and she just kinda laughed it off. :p

I went to the Gamestop I mentioned, and I picked up Rhapsody plus two third-party PS1 memory cards. They didn't have any first party ones. The manager noticed I was looking for Frogger (I already have the case art and manual) and he said that they may have it in the back.

!

So he let me go in the back and he showed me FIVE SHELVES worth of PS1 games. Most were disc only, but I picked up all these games.

The price?

http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j238/foxhack/DP/receipt.jpg

That's right. 16.95! They all had a 75% off discount, PLUS some qualified for buy one get one free, PLUS the manager said "Screw it, you're getting 10% off extra" by using his Edge card. I am seriously, SERIOUSLY grateful for the man's generosity and will now go to his store to buy stuff almost exclusively. :D

Ever come across something in a thrift store that makes you do a double-take? After a disappointing day of searching, I went into a store and checked the TV section, even though I didn't think I'd find anything. I saw something, but my brain wouldn't register it at first. I did a double take, and realised what I had seen... a Vectrex! I plugged it in and tried it out. It comes on, but the picture is squished and distorted down to the very bottom of the screen. There's no controller, and I looked all over the store but didn't find cartridges either. The employees didn't know anything about it, or if any games were donated with it. Still, picked it up for $9.98.

I need to go online and find some kind of Vectrex repair guide. And I guess I'll be ordering another rewired Genesis controller from John Dondzilla like I bought for my first Veccy.

Sounds like the guy who used to manage the Babbages at our mall. My step-son was always in there since he worked across the street and ahen he wasn't sure if a game was good or not, the guy let him take it home and try it out. Of course he didn't last long there. He was replaced by a guy who yelled at my step-son for leafing thru a magazine. He has never gone back since.

Lets see here... I went to 3 Cash Converters, 1 thrift store, Replays and Cool Stuff and what I came up with was:
Genesis:
Steel Empire (C - $2) I have a cart only, now it's complete.
Fire Shark (C - $4) Never seen this before, looks very interesting.
PlayStation 2:
Silpheed: The Lost Planet (C - $5) Just had to pick it up. :)
Gamecube:
Midway Arcade Treasures (C - $5) Need to take that top sticker off.
NDS:
New Super Mario Bros. (C - $19) Finally picked it up!
PC:
Formula Karts (C - $1) For some reason I've been collecting these Sega PCs.

DVDs:
Resident Evil: Apocalypse ($5) Great condition, now I need the first movie.
Sonic the Hedgehog: Complete Series ($10) Haven't seen in years!!
Records:
Roy Orbison - Mystery Girl (sealed - $1)
Bruce Springsteen - Born in the U.S.A. ($1)

And finally from work, apparently I just found out Showtime is running a new series called "The Tudors". I got a DVD sampler with the first two episodes so I'll be checking that out tomorrow, if it's good I'll let people know. :)

Last night, I picked up Baten Kaitos Origins (yes, the second one) for GameCube new from FYE for $10.

Then, I went to 6 yard sales this morning before I found the big score of the day.

At the second one I got:

Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby (DVD) - $2
Citizen Kane: AFI Edition (DVD, sealed) - $2
Shai - If I Ever Fall in Love (CD) - $1
Shaggy - Why You Treat Me So Bad (CD single) - $1

Then, when I got to the 4th yard sale, I found a model SCPH-7001 PlayStation with 2 Sony controllers, AV cord, power cord and a Performance 2X Memory Card. The PlayStation had a Sony factory refurbished sticker on the bottom. The following games were also in the box for $2 a piece:

A Bug's Life (complete)
Austin Powers Pinball (complete)
Cool Boarders 3 (GH, complete)
Duke Nukem: A Time to Kill (GH, sealed)
Ford Racing (complete)
Frogger 2: Swampy's Revenge (complete)
Gex: Enter the Gecko (complete)
Grand Theft Auto (complete)
M&M Shellshocked (complete)
Motocross Mania (complete)
Nascar 99 (complete)
Saltwater Sportfishing (complete)
Skydiving Extreme (complete)
The Italian Job (complete)
Wheel of Fortune (loose)

At first, the lady at the house let me have the entire package which included Crash Bandicoot Warped and Sno-cross for $40, which made the PlayStation free, but Crash and Sno-Cross didn't have games in them , so she took the cases back and gave me $4 back, so the PS package came out to $36 including the system.

It's funny because I already own most of these games, but finding the whole lot when I had been to a few houses and found none made the effort worth it. Anybody got a spare Wheel of Fortune back insert and instruction manual?

Bought a 60GB PS3 new yesterday for $510 (15% off and no tax, thank you AAFES!) because I wanted a blu-ray player. So far, I'm downright loving everything about it, though it'll be a while before I buy any games. There's a chance I'll buy Gripshift because it was one of those titles I always wanted to play on PSP but couldn't since, well, I didn't have a PSP. Only $10? Sure!

A couple more GameCube titles today...

Namco Museum: 50th Anniversary
Medal of Honor: European Assault

I know I'm far from the first person to say this but...Namco made video games back in the 1950's? I guess that, like Nintendo, they originally had a different sideline. How long have pinball games been around?

And I now have all 3 Medal of Honor games made for the GameCube. I was disappointed to learn that the GameCube wasn't graced with the 3rd Call of Duty after getting the first two.

I was a bit currious about this too. I knew of pinball-like games being around in the 19th century but wasn't sure if that's the earlist or what.
http://inventors.about.com/od/pstartinventions/a/pinball.htm

A bit of the evolution in pinball machines there including the first digital pinball machine "Rally Girl" in 1966 by no other than Rally. Can't find any information prior to that, although I don't know if Rally made analog pinball machines (which I don't doubt) but where did Namco come in?

What's the condition of the items? I've been looking at the site for a little while, they have some good PS1 games there for cheap! But I'm a bit scared about their condition...

Anyway, I went to the other Gamestop in my area and bought Breath of Fire IV for $8.50. :D I have officially cleared out all good PS1 games in my area... unless I want to go back for those ten or fifteen disc-only copies of Final Fantasy Tactics at the other Gamestop or something. :P

First off, thanks be to Kitsune for mentioning the 75% off EB/GS sale or else I wouldn't have known about it, or when I did, I probably wouldn't have gotten what I did.

I started off my afternoon by hitting the local Gamestop where I'd pulled a handful of games two weeks ago during the B1G1 (Tetrisphere and wrestling games mainly), and given the price drop, picked up a number of promising-looking games. Nothing earth-shattering here... two copies of Goldeneye for friends, Cruisin' USA, Wipeout 3, various and sundry sports titles and such to pad the collection... total = 34 games, $22.55

And oh by the way, for those who do have any stores which might stock games, with the card, it's 85% off because it takes 75% AND 10% off the listed price.

Then I drove over to the Punxsutawney EB (yes, the home of the infamous groundhog), and let me tell you, non-mall EBs in the middle of nowhere can be gold mines. Well... at least they were, I guess...

Granted, the N64 titles were all cart only, and most of the PS1 games were disc only, (I don't usually buy disc only but for this price, I couldn't pass it up), but here's some of the highlights:

3X Chrono Cross -- $2.70 each
2X Parasite Eve -- $1.95 each
1X ISS '98 (N64) -- $1.20
1X Persona 2 and Rhapsody (complete) -- $4.50 and $3... for trades, but there's only 3 more of each that I left behind
2X Breath of Fire IV -- $4.50 each
2X Suikoden (one of which is complete and very mint) -- $4.50 each

The employee's reaction and the look on his face alone were worth whatever I paid for the games.

"Um... $65.26. That's not a bad price. You know you had over $400 worth of stuff there?"
"I know."
"There's some good games here, too." (looking at Suikoden) "This is one of the best games ever!"
"Yeah, I know. You had two of them back there." (me leaving the store, still incredulous to the fact that the employees hadn't raided the shelf)

Today's final tally -- 34 N64 games, 36 PS1 games, $552.50 before discounts, $87.81 after

For what it's worth, the extras are certainly up for trade. I know they're disc only, but I'm more than willing to pass the savings along. :)

I'm thinking of scooping up all the remaining inventory in the Mall store sometime in the next week or two. I'm not sure if they'll still be there, but if they decide to do another 75% off sale, I'm gonna buy an Edge card and rape the place. ;D

I found 2 sealed copies of R-Type DX for GBC $6 each so if some one wanted them tell me, I really want to play the game but I don't want to open them. They have dents in them and there are holes in the wrapper so it wouldn't be to harm full to *GASP* open them.

Opening day of garage sale season wasn't as great as I had hoped. I found nothing until the very last sale.

$10 for everything.
The guy selling it said he had the Genesis too, but someone bought it earlier. I have a feeling it was a mint CIB system judging by the condition of this stuff.

Regarding the history of Namco, I looked it up at Wikipedia and found this paragraph about their beginnings:

Namco was founded in Tokyo in 1955, by Masaya Nakamura under the name Nakamura Manufacturing Ltd. It began by producing mechanical rocking-horses and similar children's rides, which were installed in a number of department stores in Yokohama and Nihonbashi. It continued this line of production through the 1960s, and expanded with the addition of rides modeled after Walt Disney characters in 1966.

And that's the way it is...as Walter Cronkite used to say.

I decided to go through these "Finds" threads for this first quarter of the year to see what games I listed...unless I neglected to mention any, I have gotten exactly 52 video games this year which already over twice the number I bought last year. I still have 3 more coming: SSX 3, The Sims 2: Pets and Peter Jackson's King Kong.

Oops, make that 4...I just remembered Battalion Wars.

I went to another location of the thrift store chain where I bought a Vectrex yesterday, hoping that they might have gotten some games or a controller. Nope. The only things I bought were War Room for the Colecovision (loose) for $1.99, and Epyx Street Sports: Football for the C64, which turned out to have Super Action Football for the Colecovision inside the box, for 99¢. I also found Impact Racing (PAL version) for the Saturn there, but naturally the disc was missing. :(

Secondspin.com is really good the games are all complete and come scratch free. I would recommend getting some of the games, but don't dry the well I plan to get more from there.

And congrats on picking up Breath of Fire IV I missed grabbing that one from my Gamestop, but I have cleaned it out of all complete games that I did not have.

I will take a copy of Breath of Fire of you if you will let it go for a fair price. Matter of fact send me a list of what you have up for sale on the PSone and I might snag quite a few of them.

Heheh. You realize that there's a 25% off sale going on right now? *cackles* :D

Seriously though, I'm only looking for some of the "Collector's Series" three-paks. Down here they're worth over forty bucks because the store owners break them up and sell each game individually. Blargh. :(

Edit:
Never mind, the site ran out of everything I wanted. >_<

Had to work at my dad's shop all day so no big finds as usual for my Saturday afternoon. I did stop by Game Crazy and picked up:

Mad Dash, Xbox, Complete
Freaky Flyers, Xbox, Complete
Blinx, Xbox, Complete

3 for $10

They had a Ken Griffey Jr. Winning Run Not for Resale Cart for $4.99, but the top of the label was torn off so I did not pick it up.
