Default Ys: Books I & II Easing On Down To Nintendo DS In February courtesy of kotaku

    oh yes!!

"Atlus keeps its Japanese RPG import streak alive with the North American release of Legacy of Ys: Books I & II for the Nintendo DS, due to ship February 10, 2009. The role-playing game is a remake of Ys I & II, two classic games now twenty-plus years long in the tooth.

The two games were released separately in Japan earlier this year, but Atlus is being charitable to our wallets, keeping both remakes on a single cart. Looks like they're going for about $35 in U.S. Dollars, which wouldn't be so bad. The Turbografx-16 version of Ys I & II is currently available on the Wii Virtual Console, should you desperately be in need of an Ys fix."

I will care if and only if they remake Ys IV. Book I & II is perfectly good on the Turbo CD.

Normally I hate remakes, but I am a Falcom whore!

Regardless, i'm sure i'll pick it up even though I doubt i'll play it much because my Turbo Duo version is flawless!

These remakes apparently suck, but it's nice to see both being released on a single cart instead of separately. I'll be buying it just to show some support for US releases of Ys. Lord knows we don't get enough of them as it is.

Man I love those games! I never could beat the last boss on the second one, though.

I could never get to him! *cries*

I had to find some damn blue orb, and then I could face him. I spent hours trying to find it to no avail. You wouldn't happen to have the password for that spot, would you?

That's awesome. I've always heard good things about these but don't have the system to play them on. Now I do!

I just finished buying this on the Wii VC. Guess I'll have to fork it out again.

Funny thing though was I grew up on the SMS version of Ys. The Turbo CD one came out later and I took a pass on it, so now it just feels "weird" to me

Yes! My plan to bombard Atlus with telepathic messages worked perfectly. MUHAHAHA

Now let's see if I can get them to bring 3 and 4 here.
"Bring Y's III and IV here."
"Bring Y's III and IV here."
"You cannot stop what is inevitable."

Do you guys want anything while I'm at it?

While some may say that these remakes suck, I still will get them just to have a chance to play them on my good ol' DS. BTW, these are more like 3D version remake of the PC remakes (which are incredible in their own right). PC remakes + translation patches = Awesome Ys

But Ys III was brought over for the SNES, Genesis AND Turbo CD already! Unless you mean you want the PS2 remake of III to be brought here? I dont think that'll happen (people despise it but I really liked...although a lot more could have been done with it). As for Ys IV....You can use the English patch for the PC-E version to at least get the text translated in the game. I have it and love it. Once again though, if you are asking them to bring over the PS2 remake of IV (which, technically, is a remake of the SFC Mask of the Sun NOT the PC-E Dawn of Ys)....hmmm..trust me...you dont want it lol

Gillian: And after that, you should also visit

I'll buy Ys I&II for DS if they bring it here to support US releases of Ys, but there's no fucking way I'd buy the PS2 versions of III and IV. That's where I draw the line. Those versions are god damn dreadful.

Have you played these games? Because I have, and I think they're fine, even if they're still using the same stupid run into enemies attacks.

I was even involved in a project to translate Ys I (as a graphics guy)... but I guess that won't happen now.

Default Wanderers from Ys. (Not a side story.)

A remaking of Ys III would be interesting, since this title is about the legend of Ys. This game tell the story of Ys and not the other way around (some people erroneously believed that Ys books I & II were the story of the Ys). Sure in the United States there was already the SEGA Genesis and Super NINTENDO versions of this game.

    Maybe have some spoilers.

Google search for the legend of Ys.

The Legend of the City of Ys.

    Wikipedia entry about Ys.

    A Dictionary of Celtic Mythology

Ys, Legend of the City of.

The Japanese Ys IV would be interesting to watch in English Language too ...

This is exciting news. YS: Book I and II is still my favorite game of all-time, for the TG CD-ROM.

I'll definitely pick the DS version up. We need Ys: Oath of Felghana ported to the PS2 and released in America (of course that will never happen). Greatest original soundtrack ever.

Isn't this the 425th time Ys I &II have been remade? This time for the DS... the should oughtta translate Ys I & II Eternal for PS2, I'd love to see that here.
