Default Do the Acheivements in 360 games make you prefer games on the 360 over anything else?

Ever since I earned my first acheivement point on my 360 I find it hard to play games without them. I seriouly won't even consider a PS3 or Wii port of a game even if it was a little cheaper. I don't have a PS3 but i think they have something with the throphies or something like that but 360 got me first and now my view on playing games has completely changes. It's just one of those little things that enhances the experience just enough to sway my vote towards a 360 version over anything else. Especially with buying new games. If the game costs the same on both the PS3 and 360, it just seems like you're getting just a little more for your money with just a simple little bit of something that really means nothing.

    Insert:
I forgot to mention the part where I'm really not looking forward to getting a PS3 mainly because I would only be buying it for exclusives and first party games and exclusives are a dieing breed and there's only so much any first party publisher can do to support a system. Even Nintendo can only go so far to make a system worth buying and the 360 with just that small little idea of acheivement points won me over big time.

This topic's already been covered, but my answer would be yes.

No, but when combined with XBL and the 360's controller, I always go to that console for multiplatform titles.

I agree with the above poster-its all part of an awesome package. It helps to that the games tend to look better on 360.

Yes, I really do often find myself saying, oh, I wish this game was ported to 360 so I can get achievements. I'm addicted, expect my GamerScore to skyrocket within a month or so when I have more free time.

Achievement points and trophies(PS3) are pretty stupid in my opinion. I find it stupid that they try and make it an "increase your e penis by getting tons of achievement points and trophies."

However. Trophies are much less retarded in my opinion. The achievement points are worse because if I end up playing a game that I don't like and get bored of it fairly quickly, you'll see that game with an amount of maybe, 15 achievement points for completing the first mission etc. Then there are games like Halo 3 or Unreal Tournament 3. Both are good games, especially Unreal, but alot of the achievement points are for playing through the boring as hell story modes. So seeing as those games the story modes are pathetic, I only play multiplayer which offers little when it comes to achievement points.

Even though I may be really good at a game. Someone may think otherwise since I won't bother going through portions of a game to get the achievement points because I may not happen to like that part of the game.

So yeah. Achievement points are more or less a trial in patience for the most part. Games should be about having fun, not to force yourself into playing crap just so you can show off how many points over someone else. I think the only game on the 360 I got all the achievements is Castlevania Symphony of the Night.

    Yes,

I have all three and always pick xbox360 games over the other two.

Don't see it ever changing either.

If everything is 100% equal between the PS3 and 360 version then yes I'd take the 360 version for the achievements. However everything would have to be 100% equal, I'll take better graphics and/or gameplay any day over achievements.

This topic has been beatin to death.

Anyway...I'll take trophies cause at least I can earn 3-d renderings to view in Home, sure it's still kinda silly, but a trophy is more cool than just a number score, like anyone ever looks anyway and goes ZOMG you are the l33t for either..

Really outside of the people who get achievement points, I don't think anyone really cares if you have a high one, it's just a self gratification I guess, one with little reward.

I too would always take the 360 version over a cheaper PS3 version because of both Achievement points and the terrible PS3 controller. I find myself playing games longer, replaying stuff I've already done once (which isn't as bad as I'd always imagined it), and really hunting for things instead of just slamming through the story mode.

I like achievements quite a bit, but if a game runs better on PS3 then I'll pick up that version. I prefer the Dual Shock 3 to the 360 controller anyway, so that's another plus.

I love Acheivements. There's something about it that just adds extra incentive.

Not to mention I think it's just a better overall system.

The man speaks the truth. If it's multi, I'm going 360 every single time.
You can say e-penis and try to be cool and think this whole point thing is beneath you. Fuck that, I like having high scores in video games.

No, I couldn't really care less about achievement points (or trophies for that matter, even though PS3 is my preferred console due to its superior controller).

Not really. But I think they're a brilliant idea.

It gives you something to shoot for in games where the option isn't to get to the end. I prefer the 360 because of the achievements and mainly because that's all I have for next gen systems.

oddly enough, the 360's achievements have curtailed my gaming on other platforms. i was planning to go back and hit a lot of xbox and ps2 games that i missed with my limited gaming time, but every time i go back to them i think... "if i was playing the 360 right now i could be getting achievements." addictive little bastards, they are.

i don't have a decent gaming rig right now, but when i build my next one, i prob won't play much more than the pc exclusives b/c of the lack of achievements.

When I was growing up, what you call achievement, we called it a weekend. I want to see how many 360 users can speed-run (or beat) Contra or beat the Legend of Zelda NES with only three hearts.

Every game has achievements, the only difference with the 360 is it points it out for those who didn't thought of it in the first place.
