Picking this up when it's released here in the UK on friday. Can't wait for some multiplayer fun with friends. Can't recall the last time I was actually anticipating a Wii title!

Picked this up today, and I'm loving it. It is like SMB3 and SMW got married and had a child. The waggle controls aren't bothering me any, though if I could pick I'd only waggle for the spin and the propeller move (and not picking up objects, though you don't have to waggle to pick up shells). Some of the motion controls are welcomed, like tilting the balance beams.
Not noticing the difficulty mentioned in many reviews...yet. I'm only on World 3 (and a taste of 5 I found through a canon). The difficulty seems more on par with SMB3 than SMW (3 being harder IMO), though this game hands out 1-up like nobody's business...and if you've played the old games you'll see tons and tons of opportunities for multiple/infinite 1-ups (ala don't land keep stomping, string together starmans, use turtle shells to knock out many enemies).
Looks like there's a ton of replay if you go back and get all 3 big coins for every stage, and alternate exits (I have only found 1 alternate exit).
I played some single player and some 2player. Being able to play 2 player is fun, I can only imagine the chaos of 4. We were always getting in each others way, fighting for coins, but it works well, and is fun. You can work together or work against each other, it is up to you.
Also, the penguin suit is a welcomed addition to the mario suit repertoire
I don't know about everyone else but I can see why it's so easy to get extra lives in this game. I thought I was good at platformers but it appears I'm way out of practice. I died like 8 times in a row on the first level of world 2, its mostly just my impatient and trying to fly through the level. This game is so classic though, I love the fact that you can play with people as my wife has gotten into it to. It's such a perfect mix of Super Mario 1, 3, and World. The first true sequel to Super Mario World.
To me, it sucked. it was way too easy. I beat it in a day. I had a much harder time with 3 and World.
EDIT: Eh, why bother.
Has anyone noticed a little change that happens to Mario once you accumulate 99 lives? I thought it was a weird glitch at first.

Who said 2D platformers are dead?
Pick up the game today and completed the first world (all Star Coins included). I'll go into more detail on my blog but I want to say: this game defines itself as an starring example what video game developers SHOULD aspire for the Wii. A great balance of fun-loving game qualities and massive appeal for all ages. Putting the nostalgia topping aside, Super Mario Bros Wii is ,at its core, a memorable experience everyone will enjoy playing.

Fun game so far...but the Wiimote on its side feels like shit. Hopefully my hands will get used to it.

Just got it a few hours ago and so far I'm up to world 3. My only complaint is for bosses I wish you had the mid-boss be the koopaling and then the world boss be either bowser jr. or bowser. I suppose I'll have to wait till later in the game for this.
Bowser Jr. is on the three airships that start appearing later in the game after the castles and he has inherited use of the old Clown Ships.
At least you get more fights with the koopalings instead of always fighting a generic character like Boom Boom who has the same moves every time (besides the part where he starts to have wings for his second attack). That way you get a different experience with each fight.
I played along with my uncle on his copy of the game in the last couple worlds. I've also been helping him go back and get star coins. After he has enough fun with that I'll get to borrow the game and play through it myself on my own Wii and record my gameplay footage to DVD like I'm doing with all my other games.
Should be soon because he's addicted enough to Halo 3 and Modern Warfare 2 online.
I'll be picking this game up tomorrow, and I'm going to have three friend's over playing with me. I can't wait to see the outcome of our hilarious antics on this game.
This is an absolutely amazing game that really doesn't seem to be getting as much attention as it should. I beat it last week, and had a total blast from start to finish. This is a legitimate candidate for GOTY. Can a 2-D Zelda be next?

What happens? I was in level 2-3 (or 2-4?) and I thought "hmm, this looks familiar." It was like level 3-1 (I think?) in the original, where you could get the "100 free guys." I stopped at 95 because I remembered it was game over if you died and had gone over 100 lives. I am at 97 right now; I guess I will find out what happens really soon.
