Probably not directly at launch but wait till an anticipated title or feature is noticed as available by me. For 3DS I saw Zelda as a good enough reason after already wanting the new Bust-A-Move.

Dragon's Crown. 'Nuff said. Well....
Project Gravity and the upcoming RPG from Falcom adds more weight to the "Buy" side for me and if there's a new Trauma Center coming, I'm sold! And might try Uncharted and Little Big Planet, if there's nothing to do on 3DS.
So yeah.

Not me, the whole phone thing is useless to me, I already think my Iphone is too big with its case on it so I can only imagine how big this thing would be for a phone. I don't really know too many specs about the thing. Plus ps3's are $250 now. Honestly I think I have just grown out of handheld gaming over the last 10 years, so sad, I miss the GBA days.
Plus I feel like handhelds games these days are all remakes of the console games just......not as good. The only think that could tempt me into buying one is really good rpg's.

I didn't buy a $250.00 3ds at launch, i'm SURE AS HELL not going to buy a $300.00 vita at launch.
Me too but for me it's all about price. Handheld systems should never cost the same or close to what console prices are. I'd never pay for that and it's the reason why I don't do any current gen handheld gaming. However, I found a Psp and two games at a yard sale last week for $20, which is the perfect entry point for me. So now I can finally start doing some current gen(for now) handheld gaming.
If you are talking about Nintendo handhelds then you are correct but if you are talking about the Psp it's just the opposite. Nearly every good game for Psp(both GTA's, Syphon Filters, Silent Hill, GOW's, etc) has been remade for either the PS2 and PS3. And the ones that haven't yet will probably get remade sometime in the future for one of those two systems(or perhaps the PS4). With that kind of track record I saw absolutely no reason at all to own a Psp, especially not for the price it has been going for.Plus I feel like handhelds games these days are all remakes of the console games just......not as good.
And I have a feeling that the Vita will pretty much end up the same way. Most of it's successful games will either find their way to the PS3 or PS4 as part of a remake or anthology collection. So I won't be picking up the Vita either....until I find it for less than $50 at a yard sale.

I am pretty psyched for its release especially with all of the game news released. I think I'll end up picking up Wipeout 2048 and Gravity Rush, both look like solid titles for a system launch.
I don't know yet, but I am VERY interested in the platform. The original PSP was a great system IMO and never really saw its full potential realized. Not saying it didn't have amazing games, its just I was hoping for more titles before its successor came to town.

Yes, because I'm a sucker and buy all consoles and portables on day one. Even the 3DS, which I'm actually regretting a little (especially with the price drop).
Like the PSP, not until enough interesting games come out. I bought PSP well over a year after release and I still feel like it wasn't worth it. I think it's wrong to focus so much on graphics on a handheld device, but with that said I'm still worried about the future of the 3DS.
I'm totally getting one upon release.
I still love hand held gaming - I have more time for it than console gaming (where I have to compete for the family TV). And the fact that it'll give me console like experiences is intriguing (although I still want/demand hand held style games too!)

Nope. I didn't even know there was a new handheld release until I read the thread title and I'm not as into video games as I used to be.

While I love handhelds, I was burned way too many times by companies this gen in the console realm. Also, I've come to accept that I own thousands of games yet barely play more than a handful. I wish I could give my games and the devs that made them the time they deserve; these days I feel like I'm just supporting execs, investors, and bean counters.
I realize this hasn't much to do with the Vita based on it's capabilities/games etc, but it is time for me to appreciate what I have and not let what I want continually take me over. I might own one someday, but I do not see me purchasing a new handheld/console for a very, very long time.
While the PSV is looking much more attractive on paper than the PSP ever did, I'm going to stick to the road of patience.

Almost 10 years later, I barely remember seeing anything Vita-related. I think competition from smartphones hurt it which were really taking off at this time. i dont know what else killed the Vita. and I never played one myself
