Default Good Bad Games? Do you know of any?

Is it even possible to like a bad game like you do a bad movie? I love good bad movies like Troll2, Skinned Deep and the occasional Ed Wood disasterpiece, so are there any video game equivalents? Maybe the game besides having a bad plot has horribly good dialog that makes it endearing to you? Maybe not terrible music but music that doesnt suite the game at all anywhere? Maybe the controls arent bad but the characters look bad doing stuff? You know all those things combined into one, or other weird bad things in them?

Its just a weird thought I have.

For some reason Im thinking of Yo Noid, is that worth tryin out?

Dark Seed and Dark Seed II for DOS immediately spring to mind.

I have always found Pit Fighter for Sega Genesis to be the finest cheese.
The N64 port of Cruis'n USA is pretty awesome/terrible as well.

Well any regular NES games that had bad memory like Ninja Gaiden, because those damn reappearing birds were so annoying, but loved the game because it was so difficult.

I'm a collector, but only to a certain extent.
Not as extreme as Rickstilwell though.[/quote]

Magician Lord, (Neo Geo, PS2/Wii collection, Wii VC) while not a bad game, has some of the choicest dialogue of all time. Worth playing just to witness the threatening words of Gal Agiese. It's also near impossible to beat, unless you are a total masocore ninja gamer. Or use unlimited credits with continues right where you die (PS2 collection), even then it's a bitch.

Earnest Evans (Genesis) There is just something wrong with the way the main character is animated.

X-Perts (Genesis) The horrid sound effect from dying enemies in this game will haunt your dreams forever.

Yeah I dont like the mechanics of arcade scrollers; theyre by design made to take your quarters. I have it for Kawaks and love the graphics, but I get lost all the time and have to keep pressing F11 for quarters. I even find Metal Slug to be a bit monotonous since I die so many times and the bosses take a million hits with the hand gun so I kill my self just to get the machine gun again.

I saw Earnest Evans on game sack, that guy looks like a robot haha.

Ill check out X-Perts on Kega

Bebe's Kids. The controls are terrible but once you get used to them the game isn't that bad, people online make the game look like it's unbeatable but I made it to the last level the first time I played it. For a licensed game it follows the source material pretty closely and there's enough varied gameplay alternating levels that it doesn't get monotonous. I'm honestly surprised I like the game as much as I do, I absolutely hate the movie it's based on.

It's deliciously awful. Stiff, awkwardly CG-animated characters, ear-gouging sound effects, broken mechanics. It's a nightmare come true.

Virtual Hydlide on Saturn. I had this game when it came out and actually liked it. Your digitized character is overweight, the graphics are horribly pixelated and choppy, and some of the sound effects are atrocious. It's just all-around cheesy, especially the intro and ending.

I still find it to be a fun romp. You get a completely different map everytime you play and you can actually see the armor change on your character when you switch equipment. Some of the music was actually pretty decent. It was an open world 3D action-rpg, there was nothing else like it at the time.

Yo! Noid receives way too much hate for the fun little time capsule of late '80s pizza marketing meets solid platforming game that it is. I think part of that hate is due to the deceptive way in the first level that the rising and falling of the water kills you because it looks like you're in the clear when you're not. A frustrating first stage flaw like this can turn off many gamers before they even give it a chance. The boss "battles," despite being creative are pretty weak, though.

Now Productions, the actual developer of the game while Capcom published it, also gave the NES the second and third sequels to Adventure Island as well as the New Adventure Island for the Turbografx-16, which is probably my favorites in the series, and the Katamari series on the PS2 and Xbox 360, so I am definitely a fan of their other work, too.

I like to occasionally go through a quick session of NES AD&D Heroes of the Lance. It takes less than 20 minutes to complete, so it can be a fast warmup game to kick back with for awhile, and I find battling against those dwarfs to be oddly entertaining.

hey, I know what you mean, I was so excited to pick the original up for just that reason...for me it was the gameplay...that and the thing that kept bursting out the front of my character's skull

Somebody once called Brandish the "best worst game ever."

I'm not entirely against that opinion... it's definitely flawed... but I definitely love it!
