Buy it as soon as you can, you won't regret it. The Wild West theme along with some really good voice acting make a fantastic game. If you gaming skills are proficient you will want to play on the harder difficulties (the game is somewhat short and overall the game is relatively easy on normal difficulty). I haven't gone back to do the extra challenges like the bow and arrow hunting you can do, but I might just start over and play it again, something I rarely do with ANY game.
#11 - Ratchet : Deadlocked
Disappointing. Level design was lackluster, though weapon customization was pretty nice. Worst game yet in the series, which simply means it's merely decent and not awesome like the previous entries (especially Going Commando and Up Your Arsenal, both of which are fucking excellent).
Start to finish, completing all of the missions along the way, it took just a hair over 7 hours in case that plays a factor into anyone's buying/playing decision.

Just recently:
Resistance: Fall Of Man
Great game, although this did not take all that long to complete. Maybe #2 will be double the length
Just finished Record of Lodoss War for the Dreamcast. I'd never even heard of the game until last week, when I found a copy for sale. It's definitely one of the better Diablo-like hack-and-slash games I've played in a while, and one of the best I've played on a console (other than the Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance series). Now I need to get a copy of Shining Force Neo, which I guess was developed by the same studio.
Battlefield 2: Modern Combat (PS2): Well I needed a similar fix after playing so much Star Wars Battlefront, and this game filled that void (although the single-player campaign doesn't hold a candle to SW: Battlefront). I got stuck on one of the latter missions were you are playing as the NATO forces and you need to fly you helicopter low to avoid SAMs. After you are done flying you need to land at the designated area, but the damn game wouldn't move onto the ojective when I landed and the helo would eventually blow up from the rotors smashing into the ground. Mission over at least 20 times, I just couldn't figure it out. Popped it in last night and on the first try I set the helicopter down and it worked! WTF! So obviously the game is glitchy and it locked up on me a few times, but there were some cool missions to accomplish. Unfortunatly, I don't have a network adapter so I won't be playing this online, which is really were it is meant to be played. I give it a 6/10.
Really? I picked it up a couple weeks ago at Best Buy for 10$ It was advertised for 5$ last week at Circuit City.
As for BF2: MC, the game is primarily a multiplayer game I think. Single player is ho-hum at best.
As for me, I beat MGS2 finally. A thorough disappointment IMO. It was like they wanted to make MGS1 suck, it just didn't pull you in like MGS1. The characters were just stupid. Roller blading bomber, vampires, invincible bitch with purple hair, etc, it didn't have the same feel as MGS1 where the characters were simply made to be legendary. What's more, I'm sick of looking at Raiden's ass!!!

You know, I don't think I've actually *beaten* much of anything this year. Since I've been student teaching, my free time's been kind of scarce. However, since that's done this week, I've got a summer full of job searching (and not much else) along with a backlog of games to catch up on.
I decided to take a run at the Zelda series. I've played through 1 and 2 plenty of times, but I never did finish Ocarina or Majora's Mask. Plus, I've got Wind Waker here untouched since... I'm not sure when... I figure once I work through those I'll go buy Twilight Princess for the Cube.
So then, the point of this all -- this weekend, I sat down for a few hours and rolled through the Legend of Zelda for the umpteenth time. Good times, but I was mildly surprised that I got lost in the final dungeon. I guess it had been too long. Anyway, one down, six to go. (And for my intents and purposes, I'm not including Four Swords, Link's Awakening, etc.)
606 NES games and counting... climbing the hill slowly since 1989.
That's too bad, Links Awakening is excellent.

#12 - Star Wars: Republic Commando (Xbox)
Pretty fun game, though I'd strongly recommend the PC version if you have the choice. The Xbox version's controls feel a little 'off' and it contains one of my least favorite graphical anomalies of all time: vsync tearing It's not as bad as Tron 2.0, but it's there and it's noticeable even when you're not looking for it.
