The top of the outer casing is on, the black casing around the CD reader isn't. (The piece of black plastic that surrounded the CD reader was popped off, but could easily be put back on.) Still, i'm not clumsy, so I doubt I will be dropping anything into my Saturn. As for the dust, that can easily be taken care of.
Also, InsaneDavid, thanks for the very..."kind" response. It could of had a lower asshole factor, but your words have helped me decide that playing only official copies on my newer Saturn would make it perform better in the long run.
