    You missed everyone's favorites:

Harvest Moon A Boy and A Girl
Innocent Life A Futuristic Harvest Moon

I have not been able to convince myself to buy these yet...

    Disgaea?

It would be cool to see a list of import RPG's playable in English. There are a tone of imports on ebay...

Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness! Absolutely! I mean, if you're going to have FF:Tactics, Jean d'Arc and Wild Arms XF, you MUST have Disgaea!

And don't forget the Phantasy Star games in the Sega Genesis Collection!

Don't know about the Harvest Moons though... Are they really RPGs? Or are they just lame? My daughter loves all of them, so we own them all on GB, DS and PSP, but I just can't bring myself to play them... Weeding the garden? Milking the cow? geeze... No Grand Foozle to discombobulate means no interest from moi...

I love Jean D'Arc, Brave Story, Puzzle Quest, the FF remakes and Wild Arms... FFVII:CC was good too... I don't know that the Untold Legends, XMen Legends, Marvel:UA or Justice League games belong there, tho'... those are all more Dungeon Crawlers to my mind - not very much the classic RPG or Tactical RPG style...

I've been trying to find a copy of Dungeon Maker for a fair price for ages - having a hell of a time of it, too...

The only imports I can think with English text are the ones released in Europe (i.e. Tales of Eternia and BoF III) and possibly Korea (don't know for certain if game there are translated to English). So, doubt there are that many to list. If that's what you're assuming?

I know that Tales of Eternia for PSX is the same version in both US and PAL territories. The PSP version is the exact same version as well, just widescreen.

I'm assuming the same with BoF3, but I only own the PSX version and have yet to play the PSP version.

Disgaea 2 is actually being ported to the PSP as well. It's not here yet, but we all know that crappy game will be here one day. The Disgaea games and pretty much any tactical RPG NIS makes is a joke.

Yeah you need to list the European exclusives, since PSP is region free. Just can either makes a separate smaller list or just list EU next to the date like I did with the DS list.

Breath Of Fire III is identical to the PSone version and is pretty cheap on ebay. If you love RPG's i'd get it (it's my favorite RPG for the PSone)

I think Suikoden is available on the PS store for play on the PSP. Dunno if that counts.

That's a good point. With PSP region-free, why limit to English games outside the US? Why I've added a list of Japanese imports for those who are interested in extending their library beyond our shores.

Doubt it. Digitally distributed games (PSN, Xbox Live Arcade, VC, etc.) to me are considered on "separate" consoles as they're on different mediums (i.e. UMD as opposed to digital data). But it does warrant some thought and possibly something to do later down the line. I'll stick to the UMD side...for now.

Besides that, if you wanted to include digital copies of games, you could add every PS1 RPG released... I've played Final Fantasy VII, VIII and IX on my PSP thanks to CFW, and I loved every minute of it! (well, except for the flipping back and forth with different rips of VIII changing ID #s, because it still hangs here and there, but it was playable, and I did get through it!) And I've played Metal Gear Solid on it twice, too... Anyway, you should probably draw the line at UMDs for the list...

i take it you will not be considering the compilations (sega genesis & ea). throw them under a seperate heading or something, phantasy stars are amazing rpgs (although hard, and aged)

The difference being that Suikoden is available as a legitimate commercial download as opposed to hacking the machine to run grey copies of other games.

I just found a searchable database for alot (it looks like all of them) of the UMD's that you can find for the PSP, including Sony's catalog number (ULUS-?????, UCUS-?????). There are 4 pages of RPG's listed when you search by Genre-Main:. The url is www.pspjournal.com
Wise man: When you removed the book, did you speak the words?

Ash: Yeah. Well, maybe not every single syllable exactly, but basically I said them.

Wasn't sure if any of the Japanese releases had English support.

Silverfall - I believe this is an Australian release and is in English...

yeah i think you absolutely must list Tales of Eternia, Breath of Fire III and Silverfall (if at least under a seperate heading). any RPG fan looking at this list will definitely go for the first 2, they are amazing games and fully in english (i cannot attest to the quality of Silverfall).

you also forgot the Harvest Moon title(s?)
as well as the fact that the Genesis Collection has Phantasy Stars on it, and EA Replay has teh (horrible) Ultima 7 from SNES. any completist will definitely consider these.

edit: a seller on ebay right now is selling Silverfall (new) for psp for 21$ shipped. this is a very good price for this game since it usually goes for 35-50$. he has 3 left (i just bought one).

Got Silverfall from UK for about $13. There are plenty of UK sellers selling it for about this price. Just be careful of shipping...

I've thought Rezel Cross looked interesting as soon as I saw it. Too bad we never saw a release. I don't get any text heavy games unless they're in English. I bought two Japanese RPGs and I wasn't very entertained even though one did have pretty good gameplay. The only time I played a RPG in Japanese and enjoyed it is when SNES emulation first started and I played FF5.

    *edit*

While looking at the list just now. I noticed Prinny Can I Really Be the Hero and Dissidia Final Fantasy being there. Even those are originally RPG series, the games themselves aren't RPG titles.

Prinny is definitely not an RPG as it's a platformer. However, supposedly, on Dissidia, there is an option to play the game menu based where you tell your character to either attack(and it being ai controlled) or to retreat. If you asked me it wouldn't really feel RPG like, but I've never done it so I dunno.
