There's about a 70% chance I'm going now - gotta work out the travel details and make sure the pie-hole (my 5 month old ) is okay for this trip. My father in law lives 60 miles away so it'll be a good reason to go visit.
For flying into the show I also suggest looking at Chicago O'hare. It is only like 2.5 hours away and you can get really cheap car rentals off of hotwire out of ohare. Mine was $9 a day for a sedan last year.
I was looking to fly in for the show. Does anybody know if you can rent a car at General Mitchell?

Can't be positive, but this looks promising:

General Billy Mitchell in Milwaukee is the closest major airport to the show. The airport has all of the normal amenities that a major airport has including rental cars and so on. If you're flying in, I would suggest checking to see if you can get a flight on Midwest Airlines, as they are an amazing service and Milwaukee is their hub, so they usually have cheap flights. I don't think I've ever taken a Midwest flight that was more than 30 minutes late, and I have arrived as early as 30 minutes early at destinations with them before. If you're lucky, they'll even serve you chocolate chip cookies on board.
If that doesn't work out though, O'Hare in Chicago isn't too bad either. As was mentioned, it is about 2.5 hours away from the show, but since it is a major airport for basically every company but Midwest, sometimes flights in there can be very cheap. Since it is a bigger airport, renting a car there can be cheaper. Generally, flights out of Milwaukee do tend to be slightly cheaper than O'Hare (oddly enough, many have layovers in Chicago), but the rental car costs can more than make up the difference.
The Olympia has a shuttle which runs to and from the hotel, but it is something like $45 per person which is a little crazy. If you are coming in near someone else, try to get transportation to the Olympia as a group in a cab to save costs, or rent a car.
I promise everyone, in 2010 we are going to solve the airport transportation issue so the trip from the airport to the hotel won't cost practically the same amount as it does to fly into Milwaukee.
We've got a *lot* more surprises up our sleeves for this year. I can't wait to see everyone there! And, if I may, please do add me to the nametag list

Mark me down for a badge!
goatdan,
I just ordered the tickets and I didn't see an answer to this question. Do the show tickets get mailed out before the show, do we get them emailed to us, or do we pick them up at the show? Thanks, I can't wait!
I belive you pick them up at the show
I'll take a badge. I'll gladly wear it around the apartment as I play 360 games while katchoo is on call for work that weekend. Make it happen GAC!
Because it makes no attempt to be great, it is therefore extremely great.

We will be mailing out the actual tickets (wristbands) to anyone who pre-orders tickets beginning toward the end of this month. In the past, we used cards to claim them at the show, but this year we decided that since each day is a different price, we can differentiate between the two days based on the color of the wristband that is sold, and that way you won't have to wait in line to get in at all when you arrive -- you can walk right into the show floor!

I'll be there Saturday, as I do not have the $$$ to stick around for the whole weekend as much as I would like to. If anyone else from the GB/Appleton area is only heading down for the day I'd be up for carpooling, lemme know!
