If you're interested in it, and there's nothing else that appeals you, might as well get it, though you can find copies of the game on eBay going for $35-50 if you'd rather save your coins.
It's not a very deep collection, just three different Game & Watch games emulated on the DS. It's basically just something for collectors and Nintendo fans.
...off topic, for some reason your avatar looks like a really messed up looking Wobbuffet to me...
I'd say yes, it's pretty much the only thing that interests me from the club nintendo stuff. I don't buy anywhere near enough games to get enough points for me to bother trying, but it would be a rarer title down the road. It really depends on how long the game will be offered from their site too, if it's still available 5 years from now it might not be too rare in the future.
Don't get it, it's probably the worst compilation ever. It's just 3 straight-up Game and Watch games, the classic version, no modern.
Unless you're a collector, go with something more fun, like the Hanafuda cards.
I went through the same thoughts, I ended up waiting about 3 months with the points just sitting there before I finally just bought it. There wasn't anything else that I wanted and it's been 6 months since I "bought" it and it's still the only thing I want. It doesn't look like they will be offering any other games anytime soon.
Yes they do expire. I think you've got 2 years before those points become no good.
Because it makes no attempt to be great, it is therefore extremely great.

I thought they expire at the end of each "club nintendo year?"
Only your status expires yearly. That way you have to work your way up to Gold or Platinum status again if you want the next year end special gift.
Club Nintendo FAQ to the rescue!!

How can I reach Gold or Platinum status?
Gold or Platinum status is based on the number of Coins earned in a Club Nintendo year. Each Club Nintendo year begins on July 1 and ends on June 30. If you earn 300 Coins during a Club Nintendo year you will reach Gold status. Earn 600 Coins during a Club Nintendo year and reach Platinum status! If you are part of a Club Nintendo family account, the Coins that each family member earns are combined, so you have a better chance to reach Gold or Platinum status.
Club Nintendo members or family accounts that reach Gold or Platinum status by the end of the Club Nintendo year will become eligible to receive a special reward. Watch for an email and details on club.nintendo.com shortly after June 30 for an announcement of these special rewards. You will have a limited time to accept that you would like to receive this special reward.
Your status will reset annually on June 30.Why are my Coins listed with an expiration date?
Unredeemed Coins will expire two (2) full Club Nintendo years (July 1 - June 30), plus whatever is left in the current Club Nintendo year, after they are earned. Example: Coins earned in March 2009 would not expire until June 30, 2011.
There's a simple solution to this. Don't register your games until there's something you want to get and you know you already have enough points available to you(based on how many eligible unregistered games you own).
Is it just me or is Club Nintendo a really really lame version of the awesomeness the Japanese have been enjoying forever? I was pretty excited when I heard we were finally getting Club Nintendo here but... ugh. None of the stuff they're offering is even remotely interesting to me.
I guess it also depends on how many games you buy, for me I haven't registered anything even though I have some games that qualify. I personally do want the Game and Watch collection, but I don't have anywhere near the number of points that I would need for that. I've been getting DS games since Brain Age came out, that's when I got the system. If I registered any of my games as soon as I got them, some of the points would have expired already and I wouldn't be able to use them.
I picked this game up from the club knowing what it was when I got it. I like it. I hope they release the volume 2 over here soon if at all.
