You're right about Crash Bandicoot. I liked that series of games back in the late 90's, too bad they did not continue to use him.

As for Master Chef and Toro, I haven't heard much about then (Toro nothing at all).

The key to having a true, long lasting mascot is to be a first party powerhouse (as a mascot shouldn't be third party). Sega was and Nintendo is. Not so much with Sony and MS.
