    hunh... whaaa... hrmm?
To this day, no one has had the courage to go into the mansion to search for the pieces of the urn. It is common knowledge that the ghost of old man Graves still haunts the mansion.

    Time is the essence
    Time is the season
    Time ain't no reason
    Got no time to slow

    Time everlasting
    Time to play besides
    Time ain't on my side
    Time I'll never know

And this isn't a +1, thank you very much. It adds valuable discussion to the topic.

This thread is great. Reminds me of when I joined the online classic gaming community. People made fun of me for "collecting" NES titles, because they didn't yet qualify as "classic." This was in like 2000. I think I even scoffed at the idea later on that Genesis was "classic." It was too new to be classic!

You're all WRONG. Everyone knows that it's Howdy Doody time.

There's a better way to do this than saying "now we post about PS2/GCN/XBOX in Classic." There's no tag system, so we can't move all of the relevant posts out of the modern forum. Let's leave it the way it is, and rename the Modern forum when this current era seems to be over. At that point we just make a new Modern forum. People will argue what is and is not classic forever, so the solution is to rethink the classifications we use.

Besides, GBA has been dead for a while and it was post-PS2. It's not classic, and it's not modern. Where does that put it, New Romantic?

That won't accomplish a thing. A subject with a small amount of discussion doesn't need it's own forum like you suggest. And all the current generation discussion in this forum would also be moved at the same time.

It doesn't solve a thing when the time comes.

The original division of classic/modern has no logical basis I can isolate to begin with. The selected point of the change seemed to imply that it was split chronologically on the 20th/21st century distinction of commercial/retail relevance more than any attributes of the systems themselves. So, that would make this thread ~90 years premature?

The lesson here is, "Don't bring logic into time bickering."

    Default Hmmm

Ps2 definately. Well I personally already consider PS2 as a retro game console. Xbox, I dunno because there is still so much you can do with it. I agree though.

If you can still GET it in the store new retail (PS2), it does not belong in Classic Gaming IMHO...

Please note: I did not take the time to reread the earlier posts in this thread.

While I can't speak for the rest of the mod staff, I don't think we will be making any changes to the Classic Gaming & Modern Gaming forum configuration any time soon. It was initially done because one giant gaming forum needed some kind of separation/organization, and it seemed like a good fit. Now, with was once modern now growing old, it doesn't seem to make as much sense. However I think it still works fine and certainly serves its purpose as a separator of discussion.

While early PS2 or GBA games may feel more at home with DC and GBC, it's not like they are out of place next to DS and PS3 discussion. Think of it as a way to organize discussion; we aren't defining what is old and what is new. When the DP Zine started, reviews of new releases were put right alongside discussion of games going back to the 2600. We would still do that with these forums if it didn't seem crowded that way.

Also, if we wanted to move certain systems to the classic gaming forum, threads would have to be sorted one by one, which I can tell you right now will never happen.

My guess is that in ten years, Modern Gaming will probably feel full and it will be time for another change. There will be the following forums (requiring no shuffling of threads):
    Classic Gaming (0-1999)
    Classic Gaming (2000-2019)
    Modern Gaming (2020-20XX)
