It's not a great game, but it's also not a bad game either. I think the main reason would be that it's not as good as Chrono Trigger so automatically people think the game sucks.

Other than that there are quite a few problems with the game. Way too many useless characters, most of which are unlikable, not too great a storyline that's tries way too hard to tie itself to Chrono Trigger. Just a few examples.

Cross' soundtrack problems are similar to its game's problems. Too much why aimed for a lot of it feels missing. There are SO many tracks and probably 1/3 are amazing.

Compared to Trigger, which the game and the soundtrack were so neatly wrapped that there are very few loose strings to pull at.

In summary, Cross is good, Trigger is everything it wanted to be.

Are you saying you didn't like Funguy!?!?!?!

I actually liked having all those characters to choose from. Mixing and matching your party members was a blast (IMO).

I guess I just have a completely different opinion then anyone else about this game. I thought the music in Trigger was blown out of the water by Cross's. To each their own I guess.

Chrono Cross was a masterpiece of a game, but it had one major flaw: it wasn't Chrono Trigger which everyone wanted.

My vote goes to CT. Can't be the theme music for Frog and/or Magus.

Not all the characters were bad. I just didn't like half of them. I liked Kidd, Guile, Glenn, Pip(awesome,) Fargo, Sprigg, Norris, and others. And no, I didn't like Funguy.

One thing I really liked was the level up system. If you did a lot of side quests(which you were usually unable to do until the end of the game) it made the game a little bit easy, however the game was balanced for the most part and going through never felt like it was too easy or too hard.

I'll probably pick up and play this again. It's been a very long time to be honest.

Yes, you must. This thread makes me want to start a new file. It's just such a pain to go through my closet and find what box my Playstation is in.

This is tough... Chrono Cross does have better individual tracks. BUT, in Trigger's case, there is simply no track that is a "stinker."

I'm strange, I'm not wild about the fan favorites for best track in Chrono Trigger. My vote is actually between the Trial music or the music for the End of Time.

Even though I'm not a big fan of either game, I do enjoy the music in CT more. Except for the boring, generic battle music. They should of used the alternate battle music (the one used in the arena on the DS version) from the get go.

I've read that second sentence 5+ times over, and I still can't make any sense out of it. o_O Anyway, I pulled out my soundtracks, and Trigger and Cross have practically an identical number. I think Cross has, like, 3 more, or a couple more than that if you count the tracks that were cut out of Trigger but still included on the OST. But, yeah, I'd agree that the quality ratio isn't quite the same. I don't think there is a single Trigger track that I don't love, but I could do without a few on Cross's sountrack (not many, but some).
