I just picked up a Wii for the first time myself and am really enjoying it.
I picked up the wii sports and sports resort bundle along with a classic controller and Sonic Colors to start off with. Colors is the first post-adventure Sonic game I've played and its pretty wicked so far, totally lives up to the hype IMO.
The console itself is ok but I am really impressed by the homebrew community behind it. The organization and ease of using the homebrew browser is astonishing and the homebrew games that I've played so far are actually good. Now I'm just waiting for my component cables to come in the mail. (AV is just not ok lol)
