I enjoy pickup/game hunting videos, as well as hidden gem videos. I don't get bent out of shape if something is really "hidden" or a true "gem" or not, as all that of that is pretty subjective anyways. And yeah, it sucks that these shows and videos to play a part in driving up the price, but so have internet forums for the longest time. If you think about it, if there were no youtube and no forums, we could all be out there finding lumps of games on the cheap. But with the net we share information, and it's natural that people will share the ins and outs, the joys, etc. of their hobbies with like-minded people. Personally, I'd rather be a collector and deal with the uptick in prices, than be a collector who cannot freely share in the joy of the hobby with others as we all do here, on other forums, or on youtube and the like.
Now, about some of the accusations and...less than charitable vibes....going on here.I find it ridiculous that people swear up and down that the Game Chasers stage their show because they made a few really good finds. Conversely, I seldom see many questions raised when a faceless forum member makes some amazing find. Just because the Game Chasers show doesn't look like it was shot by a 5 year old and they made some nice finds doesn't mean it's staged. I've never scored a deal like those few on their show, but that doesn't mean it does not happen. I've met quite a few people who have had some great finds that are similar to theirs, yet I don't see a reason to doubt them. Nor would I doubt their integrity more if they happened to record it...especially if they spent a lot of time recording themselves as they look for games.
I also think it's kind of funny that we're getting some of the "I like so-and-so because of A B C, but I don't like so-and-so because of X Y Z", when they are all pretty much doing the same thing that this topic is asking about: drawing attention to games and in some way influencing the price of the games. If you like someone, cool. If you don't, cool. But don't try to act like some are excused because of arbitrary reasons while others are held to some different standard.
