That's awesome! I'm a bit better at the SNES version than the arcade version, mainly just because I've had it longer. I agree, the music is much better from the arcade board. I hope to get a pcb of my own eventually, but I spent my arcade budget for the year so far on pcbs for Gondomania, Black Tiger, and TMNT, as I was a Black Tiger fiend. Right now I have to settle for Capcom Classics vol. 2, but at least it plays spot on with an X-Arcade stick.
I do like the SNES version's credit limit for completion, as it allowed me to have a similar moment like you described. I remember when I first beat it, I cost myself huge at the beginning of the game accidentally doing the special attack twice and burning a credit in the first few floors, but had a massive 35-floor credit afterward that made me feel invincible!
