I don't have a problem with this generation or the amount of remakes, but i will concede the validity of the OP's post. I buy the remakes and wonder if I should play the original game on the original hardware first for the authentic experience. Or take whatever advantages the modern update has and then decide if it's worth playing the old school experience as well. I'm kind of grateful for this dilemma, truth be told.

As for the lack of AAA games I came across an interesting read on the topic at IGN

But looking forward I see quite a few new RPG's coming, so there's that anyway.

Unless you're a Nintendo shill and only buy Nintendo games, then congratulations, nothing at all feels different, you're used to paying out the ass for Nintendo games.
I used to collect video games for a hobby and price drops were the only way I could afford the hobby. While I have noticed fewer price drops post pandemic, it seems to be improving a bit. Elden Ring is under $20 as is Assassin's Creed Mirage, Armored Core VI Fires of Rubicon, Avatar Frontiers of Pandora, Forespoken, Immortals Fenyx Rising, Marvel's Midnight Suns, Prince of Persia The Lost Crown, Skull and Bones, Tales Arise, Tina's Wonderlands, and Wildhearts. But you are right, this doesn't happen for most Switch games.

The one the made me feel foolish was the Final Fantasy I-VI Pixel Remaster Collection. I missed purchasing it at Square Enix, developed FOMO even though I have never played a Final Fantasy game in my life. Bought the Asian English version for the Switch because that was all that was available for awhile. Then there was a reprint and I bought the PS4 version I had wanted all the while and now that game has price dropped substantially making me feel like a complete fool.

Because of my age, the length of time it takes me to finish games and my backlog, I'm not anxious about the future. But I really would not argue with anything you have said on the subject.
