Looks like you can do it here:

I guess the original post wasn't updated to show the preorder site.

EDIT: Nevermind, it's in his sig, a huge banner.

I would pressume the $50 preorder thing, the one with the names of those who preordered the special pack, still is valid, right?

What was so special about the Europe version to make it go so fast? It has this out to the side of the Europe option "AD VITAM 16BIT-AETERNAM" and the box pic. has what lookes like MGENESIS on the side with a blue and red spine.

Is it the only one with no region locking and what does "ad vitam 16bit-aeternam" mean?

Hello friends of Pier Solar.

This is Tulio speaking with some cool news. Finally, 1 year after a big punch when we lost much of our pixel art, we finished the development of all critical pixel art and move on to final graphical touches. Also, after 1 month confined with Fonzie in a "bootcamp" experience I'm very happy to say that the main game programming (so called game scripting) has been completed. With those two steps, the game now moves on to the phase of internal testing, or as I'll call it, final beta stage.

That's a very important mark as it means that the game scope is closed to additions and improvements (oh my God, there were so many). We implemented all the new features that will bring Pier Solar to excellence both as Software and as a game.

My bad.

I meant that those who paid for the $50 version will be honered with the extras stated previously, right?

I would think it would be honored. As excited as I am about this game, it's been a Duke Nuke em forever of delays. I'm waiting to see more updates. this game could take another year to come out.

All preorders will be honored of course.

I'm not really following the Duke Nukem statement. The game was only delayed for a year. I wonder how Alpha Protocol is doing?

True, but since it's now going to "bugs/glitches testing", I would say it will be delayed another 6 months or so.

I think that bt December 2010, it should be released.

I'm guessing that was for me and WD all I can say is it takes time to get to 11 :p

Don't get me wrong I'm not complaining but it does suck that one of the only reasons for this long of a delay is because of a HDD crash or something where most of the pixel art was lost. If it wasn't for that we would more than likely be playing this by now.

I thought one of the people that made the art got upset and wouldnt let then use what he created? i think i remember that being said. either way, they had to build stuff all over again and that took alot of time. i think its in the testing phase, so it should be out shortly. hopefully.

IDK that's why the or something was there the HDD crash was an assumption all I know is that they lost it and if what you say is true what kind of BS is that!

The big problem is that they need to keep people informed of where they are in the development of this game since people have paid money for it. No one would care that much otherwise, but since they've got our money, they need to make with the regular updates, even if it's just a list w/ things getting crossed off. Letting months go by without an update on the status is really not acceptable and I think it's caused at least a few people who've paid for the game already to be pissed off and disheartened. Me, I don't really care as long as I get my game, tho if it drags on for a lot longer, I'll probably join the ranks of the pissed off and disheartened.

they already spent all of your silly monies and have no money to finance the game. or at least that's my guess. lol

i would rather they take thier time with it then release something half done but when the delays take so long you have people that preordered forgetting they even did.......or maybe thats the plan!

I'd rather they put out a polished game than rush something out (after two years, I'm not sure "rush" is even the right word), but regular updates stating how far along they are would be nice. The last update was the beginning of October. Before that it was early September. And in fact I'd say most of their updates are ridiculously vague. Just post a list of what still needs to be done and update by scratching things off the list. At least then it would seem like something is actually happening with the game. (The last update at least got this right, but before that it was all pretty vague "we're hunkering down" and things like that.)

I have faith that the game will be done. When this is released, I do believe that this will be the biggest "aftermarket" release of a game. There are countless other stories of these types of projects dragging on way longer than anticipated. Adventure II for the 5200 comes to mind. I would expect an update soon I guess. Count me in the "optimistic" category. I too, would like an update.

I pre-ordered this a loooong time ago and just try to think of it as an eventual surprise in my mailbox. The only thing I am worried about is that this is being delayed because of feature creep. You can eventually paint yourself into a corner and never finish anything when that happens.

The game is still in development, we are working many hours every day. The major tasks left are implenting the translations and the battle system parameters. My task is checking all maps for final polishing.

Been a while since we updated this but our final beta candidate is ready. All we have left to do is some tuning, implementation of a few assets and dropping in our translated script. And bug fixing. Oh lordy.

All the details can be found at www.piersolar.com (http://www.piersolar.com)

BTW: The date of the post is wrong. Dunno why.

The above post was AFTER the 10/6/09 news on the Pier Solar website (http://www.piersolar.com/pier-solar-news.php) indicating that the pixel art was all lost. So judging by the content of this post, the pixel art was already re-done by 11/2/09, and they were beta testing the game. Hopefully the release will be very soon.

Also, here is the latest post on their forums regarding the status of the game and its release:

a) Most of the time WD only had to translate the game, not make it from scratch, so not only isn't it a solid analogy but comparatively WD was taking as long or longer just to translate a game as others are taking to make one (well, translate, record voices, etc).

b) Magic Knight Rayearth took, I believe, twice as long as Pier Solar has taken (because WD had to recreate the game since the source code was lost).

Of course I don't want to pretend like I know all what went on behind the scenes at WD that could have caused delays. (And sorry if I'm coming off like an ass for pointing this stuff out, just thought it was interested food for thought, basically.)

A possible minor C) could also be that they would sometimes dick around with elements outside of translation that they should have really left alone (gameplay).

It's an original project being worked on on people's spare time. The PS team deserves a lot of leeway just based off of that. I think I'd be more disappointed if the project was scrapped and I was handed my 40 bucks back. I can't wait for a surprise Genny + Sega CD in the mail. :P

The EU version has sold out due to pre-orders but I think we still have plenty of copies available for the JPN and US versions. Pre-ordering is always appreciated, but I think you'd still be safe to wait until the game's launch date.

Which, BTW, is getting closer and closer. We're doing testing now and just finishing up the process of implementing translations. The reason we haven't announced a release date is, simply, that it's difficult to judge exactly how much work can get done in a particular week. We have a number of dedicated core members of WM working day and night but a lot of the ancillary work is done by volunteers. It simply isn't possible to expect volunteers to work to a strict deadline, though the ones we currently have are amazing.

We're narrowing down the date internally, and once we're 100% positive we'll hit it we'll let you all know. As it stands the game is complete, we just need to finish up testing and translation work. Plus a little tweaking in terms of combat and general difficulty. Hold tight, we're getting there. :)

And thanks for everyone's support and patience. We realize the development process wasn't ideal (far from it). A lot of it can be contributed to unforeseen and unavoidable roadblocks but just as much of it has been our own lack of experience. We're confident that you'll find the game worth it once we unleash it, and rest assured that we've learned a considerable amount from this whole experience.

Cheers

Bah, you're right, both of those are just localizations, not homebrew. XD I just really wish there was more of these new releases of RPGs on other consoles too. (Not even necessarily homebrew. I look at their monthy status updates, and they look like the same kind of reports i used to send to my boss when i didn't actually have anything to report. Just take a few of the things you'd do on a normal basis and make them sound important.

I'm getting the impression that not a whole lot is getting done behind the scenes, and the devs are embarresed to admit it. I don't see a whole lot of posts from the devs in their forums, and the guy who started this thread on DP seems to have dissapeared years ago.

I don't want to wish ill on any homebrew project, but if there's one thing i've learned in all my time in the game industry it's that sometimes you have to learn when to cut your losses, finish up as best you can, and ship what you have.

Do the developers need help getting the project reorganized? Sometimes that's the hardest part of homebrew...
