Picked up a small lot of Genesis sports games today. Nothing much, but it did include Madden Football Championship edition CIB. I have a question though. The cart is labeled as 'Rental Store Exclusive' but the manual is not. The only picture of a manual that I have seen has a little sticker in the bottom left corner saying that it is an exclusive. My manual has a little sticker there, but it is the standard, EA Sports logo sticker. Any ideas? Also, if anyone is interested, it is available for sale, trade, etc.

Okay, as I've been waiting for them all to arrive post Xmas, here is some Vectrex stuff. Well you know me and my fixation for the big box of white line joy. Not your run-of-the-mill items I might add, these is some seriously rare and unique bits.
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2289/2181140959_c915930e15.jpg
One of the prototype (pre-production) Vectorcade arcade style controllers. These things really are the nuts and I'm really glad I managed to finally secure one.
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2162/2181928378_ce2066c095.jpg
A bunch of preproduction and/or internal sample cartridges. Two copies of Berzerk II (probably the bug fixed version), two early versions of Animation, Star Trek II (not sure, bug fix?), Scramble, Polar Rescue (bug fixed) and Melody Master.
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2060/2181140779_1d4aebeca8.jpg
Some multicarts, but ones you may not have seen. Sean Kelly v1.2 (with the dip switches), Sean Kelly v1999 (with label), Richard Hutchinson's cart (with the red button) and The Final Cartridge (no idea who did this one).
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2263/2181928216_c5bcb295c9.jpg
Prototype lightpen controller. The released version was just a pen and you still used the four buttons on the normal controller to select options. This early internal version (perhaps the only one still surviving?) attempted to combine both into one unit (note the little white buttons on the side). And amazingly enough the thing still works today!
http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2284/2181928138_d8d1e9372e.jpg
Dark Tower ROM. Possibly a real internal prototype, or a very clever homebrew in the early days of Vectrex fandom.

This one is the coup de gras. Anyone remember the 1982 film Android with Klaus Kinski? In the film there are a few computer screens showing ship radar and telemetry, together with some shots of scanning one of the ships. All that was performed by the Vectrex. This is quite likely the actual cartridge used during filming, it certainly contains all the computer generated imagery shown. Now I just need to find someone to help me dump it to preserve.

Well, even though I know nothing of the ways of Vectrex, I can't let this post go without comment: Holy moly, that is some amazing stuff there. You must have worked out some serious connections if you unearthed that all yourself. Regaurdless, though that's amazing. :hail:

I wish it could have a long detailed story, but it's quite short heh. Two prominent Vectrex collectors both decided to sell off their stuff before Xmas; a lot of the high value items have gone to either myself or Chris Romero. Which actually reminds me, have to ask him if he got the Minicade or not, massive shipping costs ahoy...

Kind of odd day at the Goodwill. They do Toddler Thursdays where kids clothes and toys are half price. Well for some reason NES stuff is included in this, and that sorta makes sense. Good for me since they had a NES console and zapper and 6 games. Figured it would apply to other cart games, so I grabbed the 32X games that were there and a couple of the Genesis carts, too. All these games were marked $2 and for that I wouldn't have bothered, but a buck I could handle, so it was nice that the discount applied to all of them. There were two PS1 games (Qbert and Centipede) marked 6.99; a bit steep so I was hoping for the discount since they are kiddie games (or that's what I said anyway)... no dice there, so I passed. Grim Fandango I was happy to pay 5.99 for. Then we have the PS2 for $15. I figure it probably doesn't work, but they have a generous return policy, so I was going to buy it anyway... she gave me the 50% off on that for some reason, but not the $2 power cord that was separate. Turns out it had a disc read error, but when I opened it up the lens was filthy, so a little cleaning and bam: it reads every color disc and DVD I fed it.
http://home.comcast.net/~evanwink/images/games/finds63.jpg
Then the weirdest thing was the contents of this Heroes of Might and Magic box (okay, so it isn't that weird, but a little)
http://home.comcast.net/~evanwink/images/games/finds63a.jpg
So it is in French (which I did notice ahead of time), but also it is Mac, which I missed. Get home and open it up and find this hodgepodge of stuff:
Mac Phone manual, MacMoney manual, the Sims manual, Sim City 2000, Heroes of M&M manual/inserts (no game discs), and the best: Transylvania, a high resolution graphic adventure complete, I'd wager. It has what looks like a typewriter typed note that isn't cut in quite a square that says "YOUR DISK IS NOT COPYABLE. PLEASE DO NOT TRY TO COPY IT, YOU MAY HARM YOUR DISK". I thought that was funny anyway. Might take it back, but since I for some reason got the 50% off on it, the 1.50 isn't really worth it.

I got this yesterday at the Georgia State University Bookstore of all places:
-Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion: $29.99 (new) (Xbox 360)
I was happy to find this game, simply because it was the last copy left at the bookstore. I heard this game was a lot better than Morrowind, so I picked it up.

Picked up two PC games today:
Jedi Knights - Dark Forces II
Age of Empires
Both are complete in big boxes, $2.50 each. DF2 is in a gold box and AoE is either an original or some early release. Both are on CD-ROM format. It's nice to have the sequal to Dark Forces and will need to keep an eye out for Jedi Outcast and Academy.
There were two Monty Python Waste of Time PC games I passed on, also an original copy C&C for MAC.

I returned Fight Club and Beyond Good and Evil to Gamestop and got Resident Evil Essentials instead. Cost me like thirteen bucks.
I also found a copy of Office XP Pro for three bucks. It's not for resale, so I'm keeping it. :)
Also, I found around eight or nine PS1 games... without discs. The seller had the discs but it looks like someone swiped them when he wasn't looking, so he gave the cases to me. Poor guy. :( He gave 'em all to me for a buck. I like that particular seller, he doesn't deserve to get screwed over like that. >_<

WS - Final Lap 2000 (complete) $13.50

Comes with everything: box, game, dust sleeve, tray, booklet, registration card, mini poster, and the ever elusive trading card. Fun game too and looks great on the SwanCrystal. Hell yeah. LOL Seriously though, some of the crap that is designed for grid girls to wear totally boggles the mind. Take another look at that picture. The side with a pant leg has no sleeve and the skirt side has a long sleeve to the wrist. It's like she put it on wrong or the designer crossed some patterns or something.

lets see..
Christmas: the wife surprised me with Mario Galaxy
I had a little money from Christmas so i bought a DCLCD 20.1 in. wide screen monitor (native resolution is 1680x1050) to use with my xbox 360 since i dont have an actual HDTV. The monitor came from Tiger Direct for $149.99
Also bought Madden 08, Live 08, College Hoops 2k8, NHL 08, and Mass Effect all for the 360
I got Mario Strikers Charged and Metroid Prime 3 for the Wii
( The only way i was able to barely afford all of the 360 and wii stuff was because Gamestop was running that buy 2 get 1 free deal on all used games and i had a couple gift cards from the parents for total of $50.
Today i actually was able to get a used copy of FFVII PS1 and a used copy of FFIII for NDSlite both from Play N Trade. I was also able to finally track down a Sega Saturn with a controller and hookups through collectorscardsandgames.com for $35 plus $10 shipping.
I usually dont buy like this. I was just lucky to come across a few decent deals/christmas money/gift cards. It will probably be a few months before i get any more games. (except for Super Smash Brothers for the wii next month)

Contra 4 for the Nintendo DS
Sonic Heroes for the Nintendo GameCube
Sonic Heroes pretty much closes the book on my GameCube collecting. I now have exactly 150 games for the system and that sounds like a good number to stop at for me. I don't really think I could find 50 more games for the system I really would want to play.

I can't remember, wasn't it you that was saying how you were going to stop at 100? Maybe you should get just one, eensy weensy game more. \\^_^/

Yes, I did say I was going to stop at 100 games but I realized later that there were still several games that I wanted. This time I mean it! :sob: And no, I'm not playing the same old song! :p My collection should remain at 150 from now on and I will probably pass by the sale bins from now on...well, I might glance at the DS titles as I still plan to buy for that system. But I'm done as far as the Cube is concerned.
Hey, this is my 7,000th post...good for me. I only mention this because 7 has always been my lucky number. And I was born on the 7th after all...

Went to Gamestop and picked up Capcom Classics Vol. 2 (XBOX) for $17.99- I can't find it on ebay and it seems hard to find around here- so I paid a little more than i normally would (goes for over $30 on amazon). Then I stopped by Blockbuster and picked up the following, all CIB- Scrapland (XBOX) 6.99, Monster Rancher 4 (PS2) 9.99, & Outrun 2006: CTC (XBOX) for 6.99.

Foggy this morning so I waited until 10 o'clock or so to head to the flea market so there would be less moisture in the air. On days like today most people don't set up until things dry out a bit. When I arrived it was in full swing for the most part but there wasn't a whole lot there. I only picked up three items, from three different regular sellers, all $1.00 each...

Rubik's Cube (new)
NES - R.C. Pro-Am (loose)
VCS - Keystone Kapers (loose)
My brother is going to buy the copy of R.C. Pro-Am from me for $5.00 so I made profit on todays pickups already. LOL Keystone Kapers is the blue label revision which I didn't have. Couldn't pass up the seemingly untouched Rubik's Cube for a buck. Sadly many of my favorite sellers have packed it up for the season. The only thing I passed on was a loose Model 1 Genesis for $5.00 - I'm more use to paying $1.00 or less for them. Oh well, really should have picked it up for mods though.

I think I'm the only one who likes them with the tab cut they fit in storage and shelving units so much easier that way and they are all uniform then as the ea boxes didn't have tabs.

I can definitely see the benefits in storage of them. But yeah its quite obvious where the hang tabs are snipped and there usually fairly crooked-cut. If i did have storage issues, id rather snip them myself, IMO.

Once you hit over 350 genesis boxes, every little bit of space counts, don't you know.

Got that in a trade from MiaandJohnrule, except the imports. Ohh... I've wanted all these games since they came out. Now I just need a copy of Final Lap Twin.

Stuff from yesterday. $4 each for the NES games... a bit steeper than I'm usually up for, but good games. Tecmo Bowl and Castlevania IV were 1.50 each. Very nice N64 controller was 2.50.
Anyone know what the Nyko Playstation adapter thing is? It has a 4-position switch on it, and male connectors on both sides.

Went to another CD/Game Exchange this evening.
Genesis:
Shadow Dancer: The Secret of Shinobi (cart only) - $1
SNES:
B.O.B. (cart only) - $5
Shadow Dancer was the find of the day - it was the last Shinobi game I didn't have on the Genesis and it was nice to get it for a buck. Paid a little more for B.O.B. then I usually like to for SNES games these days, but it's been on the want list since I read Steven's excellent review of the game (http://www.rvgfanatic.com/7401/278701.html) a while back.
