Happy New Year, let's kick off 2008...

After being rained out two weeks ago and not being open last week due to Christmas, I was looking forward to the Tuesday flea market today. However the whole thing was socked in with fog and moisture and was only operating at about 1/40th usual capacity. Although there were next to no vendors, the flea market gods still smiled upon me...

Tomy Scramble VFD tabletop, $1.00. It was from one of the junk resellers who wasn't even unloading his trailer, just letting people pick through what he had. Scramble was atop one of the piles at the side, covered with filth and contained dead (but not leaky) batteries. Cleaned her up, tested with both fresh batteries and a power adapter and it works great. Sadly that was the only thing even worth looking at there today but a $1.00 VFD tabletop is fine by me. :)

80 gig ps3. Now I need an Xbox 360 to finish off the new console generation.

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y188/Shin-Richard/000_0366.jpg
Finally got a complete and mint Popful Mail. Also, I got Legend of Heroes Dragon Slayer with the map. I haven't seen that pop up in the finds in quite a while. I've been wanting it since I was a kid, so yay.

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y188/Shin-Richard/000_0365.jpg
Most of the Sega CD games came with this. Thanks to InsaneDavid for steering me in the direction of an X'eye. It'll be sent off to be region modded and S-video modded.

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y188/Shin-Richard/000_0364.jpg
I got that TV from my mom's soccer mom friends when I graduated this past fall. I ended up having to buy a new entertainment center for it, but it was worth it. The TV has HDMI, component, Hi-def, S-video, the works.

http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y188/Shin-Richard/000_0363.jpg

And I took back some Wii games to get eye of judgement and some booster packs.

Got in my Hyperscan and X-Men game today from circutcity.com. Not sure if I really even want to open and try to play it (seeing how it's pretty much universally loathed). For $10, it was worth picking up, though.

Had a nice find at a Goodwill to kick off the new year:

PlayStation:
Suikoden (boxed) - $4.99

I also got a DVD rack that should hold around 15 games for 99 cents. This will come in handy for PS2 games.

I got a complete copy of Mort The Chicken (PS1) for $3.99. I tried it out, and it's pretty (easy and) fun and dare I say "quirky". Other than that, I haven't found much game stuff. I saved I label-less Tengen (NES) game from the trash, my dad was going to throw it out. It's probably one of the baseball games.

I do this all the time (buy and sell), but this is the first time I've really tried doing it with a 360, and was very please with how it came out.

I bought

Premium 360 system
Rainbow Six Vegas
Gears of War
Call of Duty 3: Gold
Halo 2 Collector's Edition
Bioshock
Lost Planet
and an extra wireless controller which was missing the battery pack

all for $315

I sold

system minus the hard drive and with a composite cable instead of component $235
Rainbow Six: Vegas $22
Lost Planet $20
Call of Duty 3: Gold $17
Halo 2 regular (kept the CE) $16
wireless controller $26

for a total of $336. So, for anyone not keeping track, I got Bioshock, Gears of War, a hard drive, a component cable so I can do HD, and I swapped my normal Halo 2 for the Collectors Edition. And it didn't cost me anything. In fact, I MADE $21 on it. So yeah, that went well, happy new year to me!

The other day, I bought a used copy of Prince of Persia: Sands of Time for GameCube at GameStop. It was only $12.99.

The store also had new, official GameCube controllers in stock. No WaveBirds, though. :(

Ok, another one of those dumbass buys, but it was the first one I've ever seen in the wild here, and at a thrift, not a pawn...

Virtual Boy Mario's Tennis, $4

Yeah, I know, 4x what it's worth as the pack-in for the system, but I tend to pay whatever is being asked the first time I find something for a system I'd never seen in the wild.

At least it's got that little dust cover that goes over the connector...

I didn't find much of anything today on the ol' thrift rounds. But the last store had an Atari 5200 trackball with a microphone taped to it (?) for $4.94. I also picked up a Ms. Pac-Man plug-and-play for $2.92, and one of those little toy crane type machines... you know, the kind that you find in pizza parlors and stuff that have stuffed animals in them. This one's a little itty bitty one, and it's got one of the knobs missing off a lever. It was only $6.96.

I bought the copy of Tiny Toon Adventures: Scary Dreams I saw at Kay-Bee Toys the other day for $19.99. I've been told that this is a rare GBA game, and even though it is sealed, I am going to play it. It's made by the legendary Treasure team, even though it probably plays a lot like the old Konami games on the Super Nintendo...

They also had the Sega Master System/Game Gear plug-and-play system for $39.99, even though I currently find that to be too rich for my blood. Maybe next paycheck...

I also found the following games at Circuit City:
Breakout/Millipede/Lunar Lander (GBA) - $4.96
Karaoke Revolution: American Idol (PS2, game only) - $12.96
The Da Vinci Code (PS2) - $4.96

I keep hearing that the Karaoke Revolution games keep going up in price only because of demand, so I figured I should pick it up. Even though I hate American Idol, I'll still try it...

Actually, almost nobody likes the American Idol version. :p I tried it, it just seems... very much unlike the other KR games. It was developed by a different team, so it doesn't feel right. I sold two new copies for $20 on eBay recently, nobody wants to pay more than current retail value (they're usually $20 at Wal-Mart and Best Buy) for them.

Not exactly finds but for my birthday I got:

Taito Legends 2 PS2
Genesis Collection PS2

I had a little bit of money so I went to a local pawn shop. They had R.A.D. PS2 and Zelda Twilight Princess GCN for $10 each but when I went to check the discs both cases were empty.

They might not be huge deals, but I was happy to add three more Genesis games to the collection after quite a dry spell... At $3.92 each it's a bit steep but I am happy with the pickups.

Barney's Hide & Seek Game (R4)
Pitfall the Mayan Adventure (how could I say no?)
Street Fighter II SCE (In my top 3 Genny games of all time)

Went into a Blockbuster today on a whim, and found that they had Psychonauts for the Xbox for $9.99. Can't much beat that, especially considering it is $15 bucks to just have the downloaded content on the 360. Nice complete condition as well.

I beat this game on a Blockbuster rental when it first came out, and I told myself that I would buy it when the price came down. Sadly, the price stayed high and the game became incredibly hard to come by. So yah, I'm happy with my purchase.

The Wife and I decided to take our Daughter to a flea market today. It's been a passion of mine for quite some time but I've always come up empty handed. Today was different...

The very last row of booths held an Atari 5200 with both cables, two controllers and three complete games (box, manual, cart and controller overlays):

Super Breakout
Pac Man
Space Invaders

...all for $20. I'm stoked.

-Suikoden PS1 CD only for $1 (anybody have the case and manual for it?)
-Legend of The Dragoon PS1 GH for $2 (The case is pretty beat up, the little prongs that hold the cds are all broken, I'll need a new dual cd case.)
-A pair of controllers for a Sears (Tele-games?) system (I think they go to the pong clone Sears made) for $2 (anybody need these?)
-Sonic The Hedgehog: The Movie for $1
-A stack of random manuals for $2 including: MLB Baseball for NES, Thunderbirds NES, Primal Rage (PC I think), 2 Atari catalogs, Stunt Race FX SNES, Indiana Jones Greatest Adventures SNES, Bass Hunter 64, NFL Blitz 2000 N64, NHL Breakaway 98 N64, Nascar 99 N64, The Pagemaster Genesis, Super Soccer Champ SNES, and a EA Sports 96 "All-Star" Lineup game booklet.
-Bubsy (almost complete) for Genesis $3 (missing top part of box dohhhh!)
-An Ogo that I got for $1. It's in very nice condition and it works (to ebay it goes!)

close ups:

Sonic: The Movie

http://ryaan1234.googlepages.com/finds1708-1.jpg
CDs were 5 for $8
Shakespears Sisters (Japanese) Hormonally Yours
MTV Never Mind The Mainstream (with TMBG!)
Soundtrack to RUSH (Japanese also... worth anything?)
Mod Squad People's Park
and Killer Techno 2
as well as a sealed copy of Sol Divide (PS1) that was $5

finally:
http://ryaan1234.googlepages.com/finds1708-2.jpg
Foreign money, I bought all of it for $1
5000 Venezuela Bolivares = $2.33
10 Netherlands Guilders = ?(No longer used, but this one's pretty old....)
200 French Francs = $45 (Wikipedia says you can still get money for these from a bank, but you cannot legally spend them. Do you need to be in Europe to get money for this? It's a 1996 issue. I'm probably going to at least try to cash this somewhere.)

Found these at a SuperStore out of town today. I went to the electronic section, and out of the corner of my eye, I spotted DDR Mario Mix Super Pak sitting on the top shelf kinda out of the way. Brand Spanking New, priced at $39.99. I also checked out the bargin bin and found Breath of Fire Dragon Quater, it was priced at $9.99, but the plastic wrap was torn and there are 2 small cracks on the back of the case. When I went to the cash to pay my wife asked if we could get a discount on the BOF game because of its condition. They gave it to us for $5.99.

Man, Gamestop is really blowing out the $5 PS2 games. Funny story...I hadn't been able to find Headhunter anywhere around here, so when I was out of town, I found a copy that didn't have a manual, so I bought it. Then I went to another Gamestop store across the store from the first one, and they had another copy of Headhunter with a manual, so the manager just told me to take the manual for my copy. Nice!

I'm getting my final GameCube games this week...probably. I ordered 9 which will bring my collection to 150 and I'll probably stop there. Three of them came today...

Batman: Vengeance
XIII
Worms Blast

Coincidentally, all three of these are by Ubi Soft...

Shadow of the Ninja, I've never heard of.

Seriously? Prepare to play one of the best Ninja platformers ever created. This game is so good, it should have gotten the recognition Ninja Gaiden gets.

Recent finds of mine this month.....

-Double Dribble cart for NES: $0.99 in a second hand shop
-Legend of Zelda: Link to the Past cart for Super NES: $0.99 in a second hand shop
-Super Castlevania IV cart for Super NES: $1.05 in Salvation Army

I have tried to cut back on buying games, as a New Year's Resolution, otherwise the list would have been a little longer since I passed up a few other things I'd have bought in past years.

Couple nice things today.

First stop I picked up a Castlevania SOTN GH for 2.80 and a Virtual Boy (no eyeshield or stand :() with with Tennis in it for 10 (works better than my current one!). Those were prices before 25% off Tuesday.

The SA had an NES w/ hookups, 2 cont. and 'with two games!!!' (SMB/DH and SMB *_*) for $8, but had a bonus SMB3 inside it. Then at the back of the store I was checking the CDs. I pull out the blank spined ones usually to have a look, but do it pretty fast, so as I was sliding one back in I realized I'd just looked at Valkryie Profile!!!. The single CD jewel case was stuck shut from some sticky substance, but got it open and was happy to see a second disc until it turned out to be Tony Hawk. No sign of the real case or Disc 2 (and believe me I looked), but still not bad for 1.95.

Just got one thing this afternoon:

NES:
8 Eyes (cart only) - $3.50

One of my stops was a thrift that usually charges $1-3 for NES games. I see a couple games with their cart sleeves in the glass case, and both were marked with $10 price tags. :( Bummer. Fortunately, they were games that I wouldn't have been interested in anyways (Skate or Die and Tecmo World Wrestling).

EDIT: I just realized that 8 Eyes is the eighth game I've acquired this year. Heh.

EDIT #2: I wound up going to another thrift with a friend tonight and got a loose first-party N64 rumble pak for a buck.

So. About that Sniper luck I mentioned in my earlier post? I'm convinced it exists.

I went to the flea market and found a good medical dictionary for translation purposes (hey, it was three bucks!) On the way out I figured I'd check some of the other booths and stumbled upon what I thought was a mini PC of sorts. I flipped it over and it had a ton of ports.

Then I looked at the bottom and my jaw hit the floor...

Holy crap, according to this page (http://www.macgeek.org/museum/pippin/photoalbum.html), I have a prototype Pippin system AND Floppy Disk expansion! :o :o :o

I remember reading about the Sega-Bandai Atmark computer/video game console hybrid ten or eleven years ago. Was it ever released?

In Japan? Yes. In the US it was too but only a few thousand units were made.

Not to mention that I seem to have a proto / demo unit. o_o

Rob, can you please take a minute to remove the images from your quotes, they are just totally unnecessary, and I'm feeling annoyed by them more than usual today.

Another great find Kitsune. congrats!

Alright, I got my first deal of 2008. I think the price is more than a deal. StarCraft 64 including good condition box, original inserts/etc, manual, cart, and an additional memory card all for $14. I've been looking for StarCraft 64 for going on 2 years and I was ready to pay $26 for a complete copy, but surprise surprise when I won it for $14. I guess it was a lucky day for me.

So says the guy who found SOTN for two bucks. XP

Thanks. By the way, I'm trying to get another Genesis 1 system - the guy who won my debug set didn't want any cables, just the system itself. So your A/V cable is still here. :)

By the way, have you received my half of the trade yet? I sent it last week.
