After finding Hot Slots last week, which you can see here:
http://www.digitpress.com/forum/showpost.php?p=1396054&postcount=69
I didn't think I would find anything too cool anytime soon, but this find here isn't too bad:

http://www3.telus.net/krbrunn/images/finds/wonderswan.jpg

WonderSwan + Case + 5 games for the fine price of $9.99. I love the pink color of it, it looks so rad. I've always wanted a WonderSwan, so this was nice to see. Going to have to make heavy use of FAQs to play these games though, as I totally cannot read any japanese.

Wow.... Not very often that I see ANY import stuff outside flea-market game dealers. That's one amazing find!

My family and I went to Kentucky to visit Grandma this past week.
There was some great stuff that I was able to snag on the trip!

-Guilty Gear X [PS2] (complete) $12.99
-Naruto: Narutimett Portable [PSP Japanese] (complete) $29.99
-Virtua Fighter Kids [Saturn] (complete) $2.50
-Guilty Gear Isuka [PS2] (complete) $9.99
-Psychonauts [PS2] (complete) FREE with Guilty Gear Isuka at Blockbuster
-Fuuin no Kojirou Vol.1 (Japanese VHS OVA, complete, circa 1989) $6.99
-Dreamcast controller (loose, mint) $2.11

These are some great finds, but I think the best came from the peddler's mall in Louisville.
It is a nice condition Game Gear, and includes all of the manuals, Sonic, the car charger, and a beat-up carrying case.
The grand total for this find was only..........

$12.50! :D

I also bought Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann Vol.1 at Best Buy today.
It came to 16-something with my coupon. :)
(I would have bought the special version, but the "soundtrack" turned out to be the single CD of the theme song.)

AMAZING day of garage sales yesterday.

For $5 (they wanted $10)
http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j22/Mike_2_0_0_6/Game%20Collection/2008%20Scores/DSCN9742.jpg

$2 each:

http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j22/Mike_2_0_0_6/Game%20Collection/2008%20Scores/DSCN9739.jpg
Quarterback 99 is like new and was $1. The Mario was $0.25 and Carrier was $0.50.

$2 total:
http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j22/Mike_2_0_0_6/Game%20Collection/2008%20Scores/DSCN9741.jpg

$10 total:
http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j22/Mike_2_0_0_6/Game%20Collection/2008%20Scores/DSCN9743.jpg
http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j22/Mike_2_0_0_6/Game%20Collection/2008%20Scores/DSCN9744.jpg
The PS1 games were marked $1 each, PC games were $0.50 each. They wouldn't take $5 for them all.

And the best part (best find of the year for me):

Wow. I would have just paid the $15 and ran with it. Was it at the same place as the other finds? If so I'd find it odd they wanted less for that large set than the other more common stuff.

I know $15 was an amazing price, I just have to see if I can do better. Since I don't have as much time as I'd like to play games, I get my fun from haggling with people. The TG16 stuff was all from one sale, everything else was from other sales.

The only other time I've seen TG stuff was a loose HuCard at the flea market for something like $20. So I guess they're pretty damn hard to find in the wild.
Almost everything I got is right around an R3, with a few closer to R6 and only one R1.

Sorry about the first picture being worse then usual, I didn't notice this until I looked at the picture on my computer. All of this stuff came from one yardsale the first four items I grabbed on my way out as it was in a free box at the end of the drive way. This sale advertised "video games" and they started advertising this Friday & Saturday sale in the paper on Friday, instead of Thurday like most sales starting on a Friday do. I went around my town and found nothing at about 7 sales then got to this sale that was the next town over at about 8:30-8:45. I remember buying some newer & older video games at this same house I think back in 2005 including a bag with about a dozen NES games that was marked $3. Everything had prices and had a name on it one of which was a kid that was helping out with running the sale and another which was probably his brother. The total came up to $24 and I offered $20 which was taken. The most expensive IAP was Parasite Eve II with guide ($5) followed by Metal Gear Solid with Guide ($3), Parasite Eve II seemed rather expensive for a Playstation game at a yardsale nowadays but considering what it was and some of the other good stuff for cheap I also got it worked out well. The Super Game Boy was marked .50 others were a buck or two and the guides .50 for the older ones & $1 for newer. I had to do a double take when I walked up saw the box with guides first noticing the Lunar guide. Even though some of these guide are rather rough (the Secret of Mana guide is missing the back cover and probably a few of the last pages for example) I was still happy to find them at prices like these.

http://img187.imageshack.us/img187/2258/yardsale71108agg7.th.jpg (http://img187.imageshack.us/my.php?image=yardsale71108agg7.jpg)

Clear GameBoy (Missing Battery Cover - $1.50

This was actually a Thursday sale that advertised video games, DVDs & VHS tapes. I was hoping it might even be a ton of stuff from an old rental store which it wasen't. I got to it when it started and they were still setting up the tables with nothing out yet about 5 minutes before starting time. The games were PS2, Xbox & GameCube. Not much and it was pretty bad IIRC every PS2 game was a sports game and Bloodrayne for the Xbox was probably the best out of all of the games, everything was marked $5 IIRC. I asked about old video games and the lady had the one middle school aged kid go in and ask about a SNES only to have him come back out to say that his brother sold it. The GameBoy was marked $5 I offered a dollar which was countered with $2 and they agree when I said countered back with $1.50.

Shadow of The Colossus (GH) (Complete) - $3
Neverwinter Nights (PC) (Complete?) - $1

Found these still around yesterday (Saturday) at a Friday & Saturday sale shortly after it started. I'm pretty sure that Neverwinter Nights is complete has it had a manual, map & 3 CDs and Shadow of The Colossus was in mint condition which is a nice change of pace for a disc game at a yardsale.

$25

This stuff all came from a sale that advertised video games that started at 7:30 but I didn't make it to this sale until about 9 as I went around to a few sales around my town before heading out to this one. The Mario Toys & Handheld stuff was all sitting out they also had a few PS2 games & a GameCube with a few games that I passed on. I asked about older video games and they said that they had NES & SNES stuff and brought out all of the NES games along with about 25-30 SNES games and the N64 GameShark which was mixed in with the NES games. After I looked it over they asked me if I was interested in any of the games to which I said I would be interested in all of them and they ended up taking a few of the SNES games back that they decided that they still wanted after bringing them all out lol They took out Aladin, DKC 1 & 2 a double of Super Mario World and maybe a Mortal Kombat or two out so they ended up taking pretty much most of the games worth playing but nothing rare just a few rememberable games that were common for SNES games. The lady counted the games and said how about $35. I grabbed the 5 SNES games and offered $20 for those and all of the NES stuff which they agreed on. Everything actually came up to $26.50 but they said that $25 even would work and even considered it as if they were just giving me the NES as the lady said she didn't know if it worked and didn't feel right selling it as at first as they just brought out the games and when I asked about systems the lady was nice enough to go back in and round up the NES.

This sale was kind of funny as they asked the younger kid (probably about 12) about selling the games a few times as if they wouldn't sell it if he was interested in playing them still but he didn't mind seeing them go and didn't seem to care much for something as old as NES games anymore, it sounded like he had an N64 which he must still play sometimes as they didn't bring it out or offer to. Another guy that seemed like an older brother that was probably about 20 which came out when they brought out the Nintendo stuff said ?your selling the old Nintendo? as if he almost couldn't believe they were getting rid of it and mentioned something about Zelda as if he remembered how good it was and even said something at one point about how hard it is to find these games as if he was lightly trying to discourage them from selling the games. He was actually the one that pulled Aladdin aside as he said he liked it and remembered beating it and wanted to play it again.

2 Pictures of Curt Henning from back in the AWA, One of him and another of him with his dad (Larry "The Axe" Henning) - .50

Not video game related but an unusal and neat find for anyone that is a wrestling fan. I saw this in a box of junk and realized who it was. As I was looking at it the seller mentioned that it was Mr Perfect and it was rather obvious to me looking at him (and the AWA logo in the backround) that it was a picture(s) of him from back sometime in the 80s. I was just kind of just looking at it and not really thinking about buying it but when the guy said I could have it for .50 I didn't see why not.

So....today was a very hot day to drive. I was driving down the river of Oregon for a find that was worthy. I saw it on craigslist, last week. The guy said make offer. I offered him $50 for the system. He took $40 when I got there because I needed gas money to get home. I guess your wondering what I have. Well, Magnavox Odyssey 1, with carry case, overlays, instructions, its a run 2 but still for $40 not bad. I will be posting pictures of it soon.

I'm back with some finds finally. On Saturday I went to the San Jose flea market to say hi to Shorty and see what he had. He was a seller at my previous stomping grounds and upon telling him I was moving he revealed that his base of operations was in the same place I was moving too. I had a chance to go through some of his inventory and I'll have to say that over the past few years I really did just tap him out of stuff. Still, he gets some trade and resale volume here so things should change now and then. I did pick up a few things however, starting with NES games for $2.00 each.

NES - Gyromite (converter rich)
NES - Gyromite (converter rich)
NES - Gyromite (converter rich)
NES - Heavy Shreddin'

Yes, I went through what I could get to of his NES games and pulled out all the Famicom to NES converter rich cartridges I could find, all three of them being in Gyromites. Heavy Shreddin' was just a pickup for me. All the converter Gyromites will be up for sale, clean and complete. Try your hand at making a converter cartridge, crack open a Famicom cartridge and make your own custom NES conversion, choice is yours. No more talk about how I don't know how to identify these cartridges without opening them. ;) Truly is a beautiful sight...

http://www.classicplastic.net/digitalpress/finds/DP-Finds-2008-07-14(02).jpg

Aside from that I grabbed five Atari 2600 cartridges for $1.00 each, either stuff I didn't have or interesting label variations.

VCS - Dragster
VCS - Riddle of the Sphinx
VCS - Sky Diver
VCS - Space Invaders (Sears picture label)
VCS - Space War (picture label)

There are a few NES games (Gyromite that I know of) that had converters inside the cartridge. The converters allow you to play Japanese games on US systems. Some Gyromite carts have them, you have to go by weight.

Ah, the annual Carnival of Sales is now over. What a weekend. Not as great as last year, but scored a bunch of stuff, and for the first time ever, I ran out of money. Let's begin:

After arriving in New York, I walked over to the local consignment shop and found these:

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e3/Porksta/COS006.jpg

I already mentioned how much I paid, so I just wanted to add a photo.

Friday I cruised around to some junk stores and early yard sales and found these:

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e3/Porksta/COS007.jpg

Magic cards: $3
Closer DVD: $1
Wild Hogs DVD - $1
Stabbing Westward CD - $2
Sports cards - $1 each, but the MJ card was $.75

Saturday was the day of the main sales and I found some good stuff:

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e3/Porksta/COS004.jpg

Harold and Kumar: $3
Fast and Furious: $3.50
40 Year Old Virgin: $2
Unbreakable: $5
Shaq Diesel CD (yeah, I know...) - $2
Megaman X, Darkkhen, and Dragon Warrior 3 - $7 (I finally have all four DW!!)

Found my way over a family friend's sale and scored the following:

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e3/Porksta/COS013.jpg
http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e3/Porksta/COS014.jpg

Both for $55. All works great. Anyone know what that GG Nuby Converter does? Plays SMS games or something?

Then came home Sunday and worked Monday, where I scored these:

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e3/Porksta/COS018.jpg

Starcraft Battle Chest (unopened)
Uniracers
Sparkster
Tin Star

Free with employee gift card (but you can always see the tags on the items). I was surprised to find Starcraft because someone other than me priced it, so I got a sweet price on it.

So that was my week in a nutshell. Only 360 days till the next one!

This is from a week or so ago. I still haven't had time to really sort everything or test it. I was hoping there would be some great gem hidden among all this, but probably the SMS 3D glasses are the best thing, and they are missing one 'arm'

http://home.comcast.net/~evanwink/images/games/Finds/finds107a.jpg
SMS games: Zillion, Reggie Jackson Baseball, Mono Poly x2, Double Dragon, ???, Space Harrier, King's Quest, Missile Defense 3-d, Shooting Gallery, Rocky, Time Soldiers, Alien Syndrome, Vigilante, Hang On/Safari Hunt, Ghostbusters, Zaxxon 3-d, Great Baseball, Thunder Blade

http://home.comcast.net/~evanwink/images/games/Finds/finds107b.jpg

I thought the SNES deserved its own pic. While testing another one the other day, the power connector came off in the plug, so I swapped this into that case.
http://home.comcast.net/~evanwink/images/games/Finds/finds107c.jpg

And then this was at a CD Warehouse the other day (along with a bunch more NES games, I only picked up SMB3 for 4 bucks):

I'm assuming it is just a bootleg, of which I know nothing, really. Anyone know anything about it/seen/have one? It works fine at least through to the Bat.

Yep, it allows you to play SMS games. You can find some more information on it here (http://www.smstributes.co.uk/gethwinfo.asp?hardwareid=30).

You won't believe what happened to me today.

I went to the Kmart off of I-65, the one that is close to Birmingham.
They still had an original copy of Persona 3, which they apparently were never able to get rid of.
I happened to be in there a month ago, when I first saw it, and the lady working at the counter price checked it for me. It was $49.99, to which she complained, "That is too much for such an old game!".
She tried to give me a discount, but the computer would not let her.

Now, today was a different story. P3 was still there, and the same lady was too.
I asked her to check it's price again, mostly just to see if it was on sale yet.
Sadly, it still rung-up at $49.99. The worker then asked me, "how much are you looking to pay? I think fifty dollars is too much." So I replied, "well, I know you can't give it to me really cheap, but I can't really spend more than twenty today as I am kind of short on money this week."
She then said that that was okay. You will not believe what she did next: she went over to the game rack, pulled off a twenty dollar racing game, rang it up, and took 30% off of it. The computer said that it was now $13.99. Then, she goes and puts it back, and then puts P3 into a bag and says, "the total is $15.29".
I was shocked, and asked her if what she did was okay. She responded by saying that it definately was, seeing as Kmart is too expensive anyway.
I thanked her greatly, left, and almost fainted in the parking lot. @_@

Hmmm... my local K-Mart here in town has two of the original Persona 3 games left. I should try that!! :)

I think that a lot of these places that aren't game stores don't realize that prices go down over time. Kmart isn't going to reprice everything every few months, they probably assume everything will sell at what they originally price it. When something doesn't sell immediately, it never gets repriced. When the store gets more stock in, their systems probably receive the new price information.

yup just your run of the mill pirate, its pretty common for them to slap a famicom label on a us shell for those, still being casltvania i'm sure it'll net a few bucks from a fan. is there any title scren hacks or anything out of the oridinary ?

I've made some pretty interesting purchases as of late. Online I purchased the soundtracks for Final Fantasy Tactics, Brave Fencer Musashi, and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night for $33 shipped. All official, of course. The seller gave me a nice deal because each has a minor flaw or two to its condition (Musashi being the worst as it's missing the outer slipcase and art book), but overall I think he overestimated the problems if anything so I'm pleased. They're not particularly uncommon, but they've also been on my soundtrack wish list for a long time. I was just waiting for the right price.

The fourth soundtrack in the photo, a sealed Nippon Ichi promo soundtrack for Blade Dancer, I surprisingly found at a thrift store for $2.99. Heck, I won't turn down any official video game soundtrack to a Japanese game at that price. They actually had a soundtrack for a Command & Conquer game too, but I'm not really interested. For the same price, I picked a bunch of good PC stuff:

Indiana Jones & the Fate of Atlantis
System Shock
King's Quest V
King's Quest VI
The Quivering

They had King's Quest VII as well, but I already knew that one isn't worth squat. I was hoping the other two were worth something but apparently not. Oh well, they're still classic PC games, and my fiance showed some interest in them. I wish the games were more complete, but I'm not about to pass up even loose copies of Indiana Jones and System Shock at $2.99. :)

At the same thrift, I also found a storage box for NES games for $0.99. I already have one of these in NYC that I ended up getting in an NES lot purchase on eBay years ago. They only hold 18 games a piece, which isn't even a fraction of my collection, but they're awesome for keeping my favorites easily accessible.

And finally, at a different thrift, I picked up six boxed Channel F games at $1.99 each. Before this, I had never so much seen a Channel F system or game, probably not even in pictures, I think, but the boxes caught my eye. I really wish I knew about these too since it seems so mysterious to me that there would be two sets of the same three games. There's gotta be some story behind this. I noticed one set has "Gary" written on each box. Oh well, a more pressing concern is finding out how much they're worth. :P

got some good stuff today too to go along with all that gamecube goodness from a few days ago:

Ninja Gaiden Sigma Collectors' Edition $24.29 at gamestop collector's dvd is still sealed

Shining Wisdom and Star Ocean 1 for PS1 both complete and mint. (traded Mario Party 4 for GC, zelda majora and zelda ocarina carts only for it)

Now I think my best find so far this week:

FACTORY SEALED METAL MARINES for snes. it has a few tears on the factory seal, but it is a legit factory seal as it is old stock from a video game store that has been around since early 90's.
I traded Rez ps2, might & magic genesis (from prev find for $5), and DKC 2 cart only for it.

The Kmart I go to is always lowering prices on things. If it doesn't sell, it goes to te bargain bin. If it still doesn't sell over there, it goes on clearance. I've bought new PS3 games for $5-$10 there before. As well as a sealed Persona 3 (full price though). Depending on your area, Kmart is a good place to look for insanely cheap games (I've paid as little as a dollar for some).

Sunday..Local Town Flea Market

Dad went with us...He just picked up one book.
I picked up $1.00 each.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v21/Chris1/MISC%20PICTURES%202/Railroad001.jpg

The market consisted of a lot of yard sale people from the area and the local big flea market vendors.
So there was a lot of vintage-old stuff....felt more lie a museum.
The coolest thing I saw was a Bionicle store display like you'd see in Toys R us..Big sealed Glass box with Lego Bionicle built items inside-display..$35.00

I'd had bought it if my Son was into Bionicle

Lots of Games...But the local big flea market vendors upped the prices on the NES carts from $3 to $5 each..They always do this trying to make more money on the locals.
you'd figure it to be the other way around, that they'd up them when they are at the big flea market.

One vendor had a nice selection of sealed 360/PS3 and Wii games for $15.00 and some sealed Limited Edition sets for PS2
I didn't bite as the 360/PS3 and Wii were older games and I'm not sure on the Limited Edition sets for PS2 prices..I don't want to buy things that I'll never play or take a kick in the behind on since they are cheaper on ebay.

One set was PS2 Getting Up,Limited Edition...sealed $15.00

Passed up an Intellivision system with some games, crushed boxes, misc stuff..$20.00
I can't give them away yet make $20.00 back..

PSX - Castlevania Symphony of the Night (black label), $2.99 Goodwill

Genesis - Jerry Glanville's Pigskin Footbrawl (complete), same store

Not many things but good stuff nevertheless.

I personally enjoyed VII a lot. Yeah, it's a bit more fluffy than the mythology and fairy tale themed 1-6, but it has its own charms. The "one click" interface is a definite detractor, but it makes up with atmosphere.

Oooga Booga Land > Tim Burton's stuff. At least IMO.

Yeah, for sure. Just in the past two months, I've found:

Contact (DS) - $3
Gunstar Super Heroes (GBA) - $2
Ultimate Ghosts 'n' Goblins (PSP) - $2

Now, I'm just waiting for them to lower the price on those 'Persona 3' sets, as well as the load of 'FF VI' GBA games that are strewn about behind the glass case!

What's up? :P

I'm in Tennessee on vacation and this place just BLOWS, every single flea market I've visited is filled with people who think Super Mario Bros. is worth $30. Really disappointing. ;_;

All I've bought so far is a quartet of PS2 games at Gamestop:
Sega Genesis Collection "New", $9 - last copy and the case is beat up but the disc is mint
Technic Beat, $3
PsiOps, $4
Mobile Light Force 2, $3

No pictures, I forgot my camera cable.

I'm going to go haunt a couple of extra Gamestop stores tomorrow morning, see if they have any cheap PS2 or Gamecube stuff...

Oh, avoid the Knoxville Sears store in a mall. Their idea of clearance prices is a penny less than retail. Jesus. $20 for a Greatest Hits PS2 game in the bargain bin... >_<

More cheap GC stuff from GameStop:

Dave Mirra Freestyle BMX 2- $3
Disney's PK Out of the Shadows- $3
R: Racing Evolution- $4
Robotech Battlecry- $5
XGRA- $3

All complete. I really wish GS would mark down the 1st party stuff this cheap, but I doubt it'll happen for awhile.

Some NES stuff from GoodWill:

Bases Loaded 3
Double Dribble
R.B.I. Baseball
Track & Field 2

Loose and .95 each

98Pacecar, what are those?

Anyway, I finally found some games at Goodwill and, true to what I said earlier in this thread, the guy ringing them up opened them to check to make sure the discs hadn't been stolen.

Final Fantasy IX (PS1, 4 discs & case, no manual) - $3.25
Tennis 2K2 (DC, complete) - $3.25

The odd thing is that there was a disc 2 from Final Fantasy VII sandwiched under the Final Fantasy IX disc 4. WTF?

Also, does anyone have an extra manual for Final Fantasy IX?

Contra complete for Genesis $2

Sorry for the bad pic. My camera is ancient, and fails at pictures.
But yes, that says 8-bit. lol
I know this kind of stuff doesn't have alot of 'value'
but to me, I love these oddities more than their non-bootleg counterparts.

So in summary, it looks like a Megadrive, it plays Famicom games, outputs in PAL, and cost me a whopping 99 cents from a thrift. *head asplode*
Now, if I only knew what kind of controllers it uses. Genesis ones fit, but don't seem to work.

Well, that's a good find regardless, so it's your fortune that someone misplaced the disc. You'd be surprised how much people pay on eBay for even a single disc from FFVII. I had an extra disc 1 kicking around for years, and last summer I got about 25-30 bucks for it. Crazy but true.

As mentioned above, they are the programming manuals for the PS2. A high level intro to the Emotion Engine, specific API documentation for the EE, API for the sound processor, and API for the graphics synthesizer.

A very strange thing to find in a normal bookstore.
