These are my repro's. There is a nice guy on this site that has been making me repro's and trading for some extra games from my collection.
I get them like the Starfox in cart with generic label, but I buy the SFC games and put the translated game into them as I am very anal on having boxed games as my 325 or so snes games are all boxed.
I have a few more coming and will post a pic of them when I get them: Star Ocean, Der Langrisser, Dragon Quest I & II, Dragon Quest III
The starfox 2 is my odd duck, so i would love to buy a box if anyone has a home made box. I have a label coming but need a box.

Wow... this is some amazing work!! Especially the boxes and manuals. I just recently got interested in NES and SNES repros and have been completely blown away by how good all these things look... I'm also into collecting SFC carts, and may eventually end up getting some of them reproed with translations!

Hey, I'm looking for an English copy of seiken densetsu 3 on the SNES. I have money. Can anyone help me?
You might try this site http://snesrepros.com/#
I stumbled across it a few days ago and have not tried it so I cannot vouch for their service yet. They list these games available for production:
Star Fox 2
Star Ocean
Tales of Phantasia
Seiken Densetsu 3
Terranigma
Treasure Hunter G
Bahamut Lagoon
Rudra no Hihou
Dragon Quest I & II/III/V/VI
Final fantasy V
Megaman & Bass
Romancing Saga III
Live A Live
BS Zelda
Ganpuru: Gunman's Proof
Magic Night Rayearth
Ranma 1/2: red cat gang
Dragon Ball z: RPG
Lady stalker
Hercules no Eikou III
Emerald Dragon
They say the price is $60-100 depending on the title because of the different chips involved. If anyone tries their service, let us know how they are.

I don't think it was. Judging by the label, how it has a USA part number, I'm guessing that the artist guessed who would have published it had it been released over here.

Hello. I've been reading the forums for some time now and I have a big interest for retro gaming such as nes and snes. I've always liked to have a Megaman & Bass snes cart and it would be nice to make them myself so I can make other repros in the future for my own use and for my friends who also like retro gaming.
I came across this site http://snesdev.romhack.de/som2.htm but the pictures are too small and the instructions doesn't tell me very much. Think anyone could set me up with some pictures and instructions on how to make the snes repros? It would be awesome and thanks :)

There are two manners to make a Cardmodd of 4mo.
-Eproms
-Tsop
The technique of the eproms consists in using x4 Eproms (27c801) and imbricate/to connect them together.
x1 Eprom below and x3 Eproms at the top + 74LS139
http://kogami02.free.fr/Chrono_Trigger/Chrono_Trigger_02.jpg
Or the tsop support 29f032 (4mo)
http://kogami02.free.fr/Secret_of_Mana_2/Secret_of_Mana_2_02.jpg
http://kogami02.free.fr/Divers/Tsop.jpg
It consists of several parts
-PCB (home made)
-Tsop 29f032
-(x3) resitances 10 ohm
-Barrete secable (x2 18 pins)

Adaptator Tsop Willem programmer (home made)
But The tsop which I use has was specifically realized for snes cartridges (6 working months by means of one friends)

If you are talking about this site:
http://www.gamereproductions.com/
I ordered from them about a year ago. Very smooth transaction. I got 4 NES repos. Super TecmoBowl with 07/08 players, Castlevania: Chorus of Mysteries, Final Fantasy 2, and Zelda Outlands. They all turned out perfect. If I wasn't so broke I'd buy a lot more.

I thought we were talking about snesrepros.com or whatever the actual URL is? I know one of the guys that runs the site and he's a good guy, but I can't afford to pay for an SNES repro right now, so haven't gotten anything from him yet. I think someone on this board HAS purchased a repro from him tho, but I dunno the user's name.

Ah figured it was something like that :)
Also I read that the http://snesdev.romhack.de/som2_diagram.png is for PAL carts correct? Only difference with NTSC is that I have to solder "doe", connect that pin to the "moe" on the mad1 chip
and don't connect any pins on the right side of the chip except for "vcc" is that right?

oh good to hear.. (it's one of the repro a would like to do)
about that you used a shaq fu donor cart right?
anyway with renejr were talking about snespowerpak and compatibility:

It says the rom doesn't work and shows a black screen.
very strange

btw i said "shaq fu" beacuse you said so: http://www.digitpress.com/forum/showpost.php?p=1568267&postcount=121
is that incorrect so? what the right cartridge?
EDIT: i look at the list and shaq seems to be lorom....mmm
SHAQFU~1.SMC SHAQ FU Ocean 16 MBit NTSC ROM Only No SRAM 1.0 No FastROM GD3 English

Hmm...
I don't understand why extreme amounts are charged for Star Ocean repros. The cost of materials (including the donor carts) are generally less then $30.
Kirah (and Kogami): You can use m27c322 for any application where you would normally use 8 bit roms. You would just need two octal transceivers to make it emulate two 16mbit 8-bit roms. The general idea is that the first 8 bits at any given address would be file part one, and the second 8 bits would be file part two.
IE: you would have to rearrange the data in your binary before you program it.
*Edit: I would be wary of purchasing from sites that provide false and inaccurate information, such as snesrepros.com and snesreproductions.com. Example: The claim that Starfox 2 needs to cost that much more because it uses special hardware? I can name sites that sell Madden 95 for two dollars (the typical donor cart), and Stunt Race FX for $2.50 (sufficient for Starfox 2). Not sure how 50 cents constitutes such a price jump in the repro. Also, a more expensive programmer doesn't make the data "better" that is stored on the chip. It is the same 0's and 1's. The only advantage someone with a $500 programmer has is that he can pump out more ripoffs in a shorter amount of time. You, the customer, do not get a piece of that.

Im a bit new to this but Ive read that to make Star Ocean you need an actual Star Ocean cart because of the S-DD1. Another game which uses S-DD1 is SF Alpha 2 (now that I know about that, it explains the annoying pause), could that be used instead?
As well, instead of these small 8mbit chips, could 1 larger chip work instead?

You can order star ocean japanese for around $20 amercian. While it is possible with a SFA2 cart, it would be a pain in the ass.
Star Ocean has 16 bit roms, just like kogami stated before, so you only need one m27c322 to replace rom 1.

I've asked this before, but I don't remember where and never got a definitive answer. If a game would need 4x8mbit could you instead use 1x32mbit and avoid wiring up 4 chips.
I've seen eproms (27C322) on the cheap at ebay, you can get 2 of them for as low as 5 bucks sometimes,
*EDIT: The following link seems to have the cheapest on ebay. http://stores.ebay.com/IC-China

You don't need the original Star Ocean cart to make the english translation. It only makes it easier to build one. If you use the 96mbit version of Star Ocean, you can build it using a standard hirom cart with sram. I've built it myself so I know it works. It's described somewhere on nesdev if you want to start the endeavor.

This has been answered several times already. The short answer is no. They are 16-bit wide eproms while the standard repro tutorials call for an 8-bit wide eprom. If you devise a way to convert a 16-bit bus to an 8-bit bus, then yes, you can use a 27c322.

First off, love this thread - I've spent the last hour or so reading every response :-p.
I'm very interested in doing repros and making custom manuals/boxes, so I wondered if anyone could give more information about these procedures, especially printing and making manuals/boxes.
Also, I don't know how to solder - can someone recommend a soldering iron that's a good value, and guides as to how to learn to do this? (I need to replace an SNES pin, so this would be useful!)
Thanks, and keep up the good work - I LOVE looking at these repros, they're amazing.

nesreproductions and gamereproductions don't have these, and can't do these in most cases because of custom mappers.

Whoa whoa, hold on there. Fifa 97, sure. NBA Action 94, sure. Light Crusader... ok, the game is a bit rubbish, so why not? But Landstalker and Soleil?! Especially Soleil as there don't seem to be too many copies of that floating around. Don't do it!

i completley understand your point of view...
don't worrie about that. ^_^
thx Kog for the list...
looking at the Global Gladiators pcb i suppose there's no problem with cic ciphs and stuffs..
so if i choose i Japanese hacked rom (like monster world iv in this case) .. it will work even if the donor cart is pal or usa.. (cause i have a japanese megadrive)
ps: now that i have this cart open (mmm i little destroyed the case to pop out the pcb O_O ).. what's a nice repro i could do from it?

You could make games which you want which use not a save.
Ex: Yu Yu Hakusho, Gley Lancer, Lobo, Pulseman

@Kogami
Man, love your DBZ Hyper dimension art work it just blows my mind. I stumbled upon this forum by accident looking for Star Fox 2 reproduction cart but I'm amazed at the amount of Reproduction carts available I would love to own my fair share.
I'm interested in these if available in us ntsc format and artwork:
Star Fox 2
Secret of Mana 2
Star Ocean
Hyperdimension
Terranigma
Bahamut Lagoon
Tales of Phantasia
Rendering Ranger
btw: Kogami I'm sending you a pm, please read it. :)
