The fact that she didn't want the NES stuff is a turnoff.

become friends with her and then maybe her friends will give you the game stuff.

Apologies for the cross-post from Import-Mania:

A nice and lucky weekend last week.

In another thread we were discussing the value/rarity of a Dreamcast Super Black system. well, i got a bit lucky and found one in the wild for a pretty decent price (considering what it can go for) -- about $250. The box isn't 100% perfect but is still nice, but the console itself is perfect.

I am VERY happy with my other find off Y!J Auctions -- Soreike Hanafuda Dojo for the NGPC. I've never seen this before, and I picked it up for about $50 shipped.

It's good to see some NGPC love around here. This is definitely in the top 5 rarest Japanese NGPC games, probably one of the top 2 rarest, from what I have seen.

Have you played it yet? I'm embarrassed to say I've never tried mine, mainly is due to the fact I don't know any Japanese.

Stopped by Play N Trade after work...

NES:
The Immortal - $10, with box. No styrofoam insert or manual, but included dust cover.
Tennis - $0.99
F-15 Strike Eagle - $0.99
8 Eyes - $2.99
Freedom Force - $2.99
The Simpsons Bart Vs The Space Mutants - $2.99
Destination Earthstar - $2.99
Zanac - $2.99

PS2:
Time Crisis II - $20, with Guncon2. Includes box, but the inside tabs holding it together ripped, though they're still there. Even has the twistie ties and plastic bag for the wires. Sadly, the wire that goes between the RCA jack on the gun and the PS2 RCA jack isn't there, but there were TWO in the box for Time Crisis III, so they're holding it for me.

I saw quite a few other neat things, notably Shining in the Darkness for $30, FF3 SNES boxed for $50, Steel Battalion with the controller for $160 (tempting...), and some random neat controllers. I love that place.

Shining in the Darkness for $30? There's one at a store near me for $10 - will check for completeness, and more importantly, if it's still there the next chance I get. They also have Alisia Dragoon.

My only pickup for today was Pokemon XD @ $20, for which I will be reimbursed by a coworker - he owes me for Phoenix Wright. >_>

Is that wipeout, or wipout 2097 or whatever?

I am asking because I own the wipeout longbox, and my box looks way different than that 1

I think the original longbox art was the one with the japenese writing on it, they changed it later. Was sorta grayish ;p

Hot Shots Golf 3 (Complete, GH) - $1

A buck was the asking price, Hot Shots was the only Playstation 2 game I saw at the sale and probably the only one they had, I got to the sale about 15-20 minutes after it started so I'm thinking they might have had a few more but something decent like Hot Shots Golf most likely wouldn't have been the only game left behind for a buck if they did have more PS2 games that somebody else picked up.

It was nice to see a PS2 game at a yardsale around here not marked at $5 like 90ish% of the PS2 games I see, with sports games being the only thing that people may have in the mix cheaper a lot of times. Just yesterday I saw a few PS2 games at a sale marked $5 each one being GTA III and one being THPS3 and I was thinking how funny it is has most people around here probably figure $5 is a good price per a PS2 game at a yardsale not realizing that a lot of PS2 games are really only worth about $5 roughly (arguably less) and not really a yardsale bargin at that price.

o_O

Could you elaborate on that experience?

Not precisely. It's a boring story to say the least. I'm going to use it as a junker console until I get a real one. This one can't go on Xbox live but can do Lan(?). It's also an original three red ring of death model. I don't expect it to last me forever nor do I really plan on using it for more than a year. Since my friend got a Wii he didn't want it anymore (it was an extra console of his anyway). He didn't want to go though selling it because it technically does not work 100% (can't connect to the web but can do Lan applications).

So Beyond putting it together manually I figure it's a good start in for when I get one that 100% works. I just wanted to play GTAIV and play Halo 3 with friends. Hence why getting it.

Went to a very concentrated neighborhood garage sale today. It was in 3 alleys and about 4-5 blocks long. We're guessing between 40-50 sales. And this is what I have to show for it.

http://home.comcast.net/~evanwink/images/games/Finds/finds112.jpg

Pokemon Emerald - no label, no manual - $5
Dark Cloud 2 - sealed, but I think a promo copy since the barcode is punched - $5
Zelda II GBA + Golden Sun Guide & a couple Dune books - $5
... and for gaming stuff, that's it. almost total suckage.

I was just kinda looking at this Pokemon card collection, and the woman told me to take it. I was pretty hesitant, as I'm not into these at all, but I got the impression they'd be thrown away, so I gave her a dollar. Anyone know about Pokemon Cards? There are approximately 500 cards. I just flipped through, and some are shiny (foil?) and some have a 1 Edition mark on the left.

There are probably thousands of Pokemon cards on the market now, but it looks like you probably got some of the earliest sets (That's a Base Set Charizard). Holofoils are usually the rarest (in the WotC days, chances of finding a holofoil was about one in every three booster packs). First Edition cards tend to hold their value a LOT better than unlimited run cards.

There also seem to be some cartoon trading cards in there as well, not sure about the value of those.

I've been looking for a few foils to finish up my earlier sets... if you ever get a list of which foils you have, I'd like to take a look at it if you're looking to make a deal... :)

Correct. The original printing of Wipeout had the silver/gray color with the more abstract Designer's Republic artwork. My copy (purchased right around the release date) had that more generic CG action scene printed on a slipcover that covered the original silver art. I suppose they reprinted the longbox version like that, and that was the same art they used on the jewel case version too. Guess they figured it'd sell better with the flashy full color pictures ;)

I purchased four NGPC games on Amazon a few days ago, and they arrived in the mail yesterday. Each one came with a cart case:

Fatal Fury: First Contact
Samurai Shodown! 2
SNK vs. Capcom: Card Fighters Clash (Capcom version)
SNK vs. Capcom: The Match of the Millenium

$21.57 shipped

(I had five NGPC games prior to this purchase, and since this puts me at nine, I nearly doubled my NGPC collection.)

I went out shopping to try and find a Mythbusters full-season DVD set and the journey landed me at Best Buy. During my wanderings I came across a couple of tables that had a ton of 360, PS2, Xbox, PSP and Wii games on clearance. A sign hanging from the side stated that "any game with a yellow dot is 5 for $30". After not finding Mythbusters and deciding on Blue Planet instead, I sifted through the piles and got the following:

Xbox-Halo (Platinum Hits)-I never owned it, believe it or not.
360- F.E.A.R.
360- Chromehounds
360-Stuntman: Ignition
Wii- Trauma Center: Second Opinion

Ah, Sunday morning is here ... ok here all is what I got yesterday, keep in mind that I live in the Green Bay area and drove to Milwaukee which is about a 2 hour drive each way. Here's what I knew about the lot at the time before I picked it all up.

(2) VIC-20's, one of them in the box
(2) 1541 Disk Drives, both boxed, in the original "VIC-20" white style
(2) Commodore 64's
(2) 1541 Disk Drives, "Commodore 64" brown style
(1) 1571 Disk Drive
(1) Magnavox RGB 40 Monitor

Also there was a box of misc computer items, nothing too specific.

Here's the deal ... everything was FREE, as long as I was able to pick it up. With everything listed above, I figured the gas money spent would definitely be worth the trip.

When I got there, everything was there as listed. The "misc computer items" box had a bunch of Commodore cords, some common VIC-20 game cartridges and some joysticks too. I didn't look too closely inside the box at all -- just loaded it all up in the car. Checked out the thrift stores in the area, didn't find much, so I headed back home.

Well there were a lot more cartridges for the VIC-20 in the one box with all of the cords, many of which I never even heard of before. Here's a list of the more unfamiliar ones:

Alien Blitz
Meteor Run
Outworld
Predator (a "Joust" type game)
Renaissance
Satellites & Metorites
Skibbereen
Spiders of Mars
Video Vermin

All of the above were cartridge only. The following games were boxed, complete:

Mutant Herd
VIC Music Composer (well not really a game actually)
River Rescue
Pac-Man

Definitely the best VIC-20 find I've ever had.

Yesterday was a big day! So I finally caved in and bought an Xbox as one of the local shops recently dropped their prices to $40 and ending up with a blue controller, which is what I wanted. So the games I picked up as well were:
Max Payne (sealed - $5) Kinda overpaid but for new screw it
Tork: Prehistoric Punk (C - $5)
Serious Sam II (C - $5) Hard to pass on a Serious Sam game I haven't played
Without Warning (C - $5)
Metal Slug 3 (C - $7) Might as well start picking these up
Pac-Man World 2 (sealed - $5)
Halo 2 LE (C - $9)

My dad is a big Halo fan so I was trying to find a Halo LE, which are generally very common. For whatever reason none were around yesterday at the several places I went to. Was hoping for it sooner as he recently got back in town from a yearly golfing tournament with old high school and college buds, inwhich they also have a rotation of 16-player Halo 1 and 2, one Xbox in 4 different rooms over wireless.

Aside from Xbox I picked up some DVDs from Best Buy, $25 each:
Tokko (vol. 1-3 boxset)
Beast King Golion (collection 2)

Golion is really kicking ass over the Voltron mess. I've been watching Voltron on Boomerang while rotating to my DVDs of Golion every few days. It's interesting to watch the differences and what was done.

Also picked up the new Candlebox album - "Into the Sun." They'll be in town Tuesday night but due to classes and work the next morning it's a drag.

From FYE (ex. Planet Music (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trans_World_Entertainment#Chains)) I picked up:
Bestie Boys Video Anthology (U, Complete 2-disc - $ 12)
Bestie Boys Solid Gold Hits LP (sealed - $25)

I now miss when it was Planet Music. There was better pricing and selection. My friend was complaining yesterday about the lack of Funk now and another bud couldn't find some Metal CDs that aren't carried at that location from corporate. Oh well.

Willowmoon, nice find there. Wish I could find that kind of old comp stuff.

I bought Spore Galactic Edition at Best Buy today, not really a find. Parents bought Wii Fit, guess that's a bit of a find.

Went to Toys R Us so they could get a Wii (everyone's always in my room >_<) and I got Fatal Fury Battle Archives Volume 1 (PS2) for $5 from the bargain bin, even includes a little cardboard dvd-case gift box thing, complete with a pre-tied bow. Guess nobody wants giftbox+game bundles...

The store I worked at had these same bundles available during Christmas. They kept ALL the budget games in the back and then set them up right next to the registers, two weeks before the 25th.

Still, five bucks for that game is one helluva deal.

Championship Bowling (NES) - $1
Tetris Plus x2 (One Complete, One Disc Only) - $2
Klonoa 2 (Missing Manual) - $4

All from different sellers and IAP. I didn't notice till I got home but Tretris Plus actually had 2 discs inside the case which will go nicely has the one I got at a yardsale a few weeks ago actually had a big crack in the disc that I didn't notice when I bought it.

Probably the most note worthy thing about the flea market today was from a vender who wasen't around, had 4 5200 games 2 of which I could see were Super Breakout & Countermeasure. First time I've seen used 5200 games in the wild around me.

I went out today to look for a bookcase for my room, just out of space period. Somehow a muscle in my back decided to go crazy this morning so I've been unable to lift much. Called a friend to ride along incase I found found a good shelf unit and so he went along. At one of the thrift stores, while I was looking at furniture he discovered some Sega CD games, among them a CIB copy of Snatcher for $1! Then looking on the shelf below he found a Gameboy SP for $1! So for $1 he got a red SP and Snatcher. Passed on a $0.78 clear GBC but oh well. Good times.

Oh, and I found a tower bookcase at Office Depot. :)

found this rainbow assortment of famicom carts at the swap meet today. $2 each.

Nice pickup but they're either all bootlegs or Cybernoid is the only official cartridge. Still, for $2.00 a pop I wouldn't complain. :)

Today I found:

New Order - Technique (CD) - $1. The case is trashed but the inserts and CD were fine.
Paint Shop Pro 7 Anniversary Edition - $5. Apparently complete, but I couldn't find a CD key on the box or CD case... gotta install it to figure out if it's complete or not. :|

And I got two things in the mail today:

Paper Mario (Gamecube) from Goozex
A bunch of polished CDs and DVDs from DKTheArcadeRat - many are from my collection, but others... others are going to eBay. Bwahahahahaha. :D

Oh my, the suspence!

Yup, I mean, it is pretty cool, not like Chrono Trigger for a buck or anything, but hopefully it provides some incentive to buy my other SMS controller that I have for sale.

Haven't found much at Goodwill lately, but went in today and found the following for $3 a piece:

Genesis
- Simpsons: Krusty's Super Fun House [CIB]

Master System
- Double Dragon [CIB]
- Reggie Jackson Baseball [CIB]
- Y's The Vanished Omens [CIB]

NES
- Excitebike
- High Speed
- Superspike V-Ball
- Trog
- Ultimate Stuntman

The back of Ultimate Stuntman has a chip sticking out of a indent in the back of the cart. There's a label that says "Patent pending" and you can set the chip to "Position A or Position B". Is this normal for this game to have it? I've never seen this before any of other cart, so wasn't sure if this was something that was only on this game.

You'll find that on any of Camerica's NES carts.

actually, the ikari III is the only official one. ninja crusaders, silk worm and getsufuu maden are the unnamed ones. the robocop cart even has cheat codes on the back sticker. :D

Yesterday I received three boxes. One had a lot of 6 Gamecube games. The other two contained multiple Atari 2600 systems, an Atari 7800, and quite a few games:

Nice gamecube games... though it looks like Animal crossing is missing its manual ;)

p.s. Go Sooners!

But it does have the memory card. ;)

And, I think you meant to say go Cowboys! The Sooners suck. :)

edit: Also, does anyone know what's up with my Enduro label? I've always seen another label for the cart (and own the more common one). Is this just a US label variation or is it something else entirely?
