Aliens Versus Predator Extinction (PS2, Complete) - $5

Same kid as last week that was selling last gen games for $8 a pop, I offered $5 which was taken.

Power Plug Boxed (Sega Genesis) - .67~

Found this at a junk seller's table. $1 an item or 3 for $2 so I grabbed this and found 2 other non game related items that I also bought.

Xbox Cases Only
Halo
Halo 2
Oddworld Munch's Oddysee
Oddworld Stranger's Wrath
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2x
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 4

Free

From the same junk seller I got the Power Plug from, said I could have them as he knew they didn't have any games in the cases. Probably got them in a box lot at an auction. Halo 2 had an unused Xbox Live 2 month trial card in it (which I didn't notice till I got home). 2 games had microsoft catalogs in them and one of the THPS games had a catalog with some extreme sports games a few of which got canceled one of which was a game called Travis Pastrana's Pro Moto X which I've never heard of and they don't even have listed on Gamefaqs.

I also went to a few yardsales Saturday (3 total) came up with nothing but I should have gone out earlier as it was about 9:30-10 when I got out the door. First sale advertised a GameCube with games when I asked about "old games" they mentioned that I missed the GameCube with 5 games and I passed on the only thing they had left (Guitar Hero III for the Wii Sealed $15) I also was told at another sale that they had a Sega Genesis with about 20 games. I figured I'd find little to nothing only going to 3 sales but I might have done ok if I wasen't being so lazy late in the season :D

At the flea market:

http://ryaan1234.googlepages.com/finds101908-2.JPG

At the first booth I visited I was pleasantly surprised to find a single NES game, Tecmo Bowl, and 2 PS1 discs: an underground disc and No One Can Stop Mr. Domino! (yay?) for $0.50 each.

The Mexican games/electronics seller I usually buy from turned out some neat stuff:
A mint and complete (albeit a little squished) copy of Rampart for $5
2 Japanese N64 games, Saikyō Habu Shōgi and Wild Choppers both for $15 (also relatively mint and complete)
and the 2 other NES games, Batman and Demon Sword for $3 each.
The vendor said he had 5 Japanese N64 games total, and he'd bring the other 3 for me the next time he's out.

Batman is my 150th NES game (yay!!!)

The copy of Super Ghouls N' Ghosts was free. It was given to my by one of the people I regularly buy from. It is completely broken. There's no visible pins sticking out of the bottom and the board inside is loose. I have no idea what's wrong with it. I'll try opening it later.

and of course the Sonic toy was $0.25. It's from Jack In The Box. I've never seen one of these before.

http://ryaan1234.googlepages.com/finds101908.JPG

All of the stuff in the above pic cost me $8. They came from a someone else I regularly buy from. I got some expensive-looking Windows cds: Visio 2003/(2004?) Professional edition. They were originally sealed in a plastic bag, but I took them out to see what they were. It seems that they might be worth some moolah, they are mint and they have the product key.
The other stuff in the pic are as follows:
What could be the ugliest looking Shadow doll I've ever seen.
A complete copy of Shinobi.
A copy of Alien Syndrome.
and a Pelican system selector, which set me back $3.

I also got a mini SNES system, with one game (Street Fighter II), 2 controllers, and the hookups for $15.

My Master System collection is growing, slowly but surely. For some reason, I'm suddenly seeing Master System games everywhere at my flea market. I got a system a few months ago at the same market.

... So you know, I don't believe you can sell those Visio CDs legally. I think they're MSDN versions, which aren't fully licensed. :(

The users won't care, but eBay does. :\

Thanks for the tip Kitsune, I really don't know much about that sort of stuff. I knew you'd be able to tell me more about them, I've seen you buy this kind of stuff in your finds postings. I don't know if they're MSDN versions, but would the discs themselves say anything about being MSDN versions? All I can get from the discs is that they're from Microsoft Licensing and the sticker on the front says "Visio Pro Win32 English Disk Kit CD".

NayusDante

You might need the name and info for the company that got the disks initially. MDSN subscription is like $1000 a year for a small business, but you get everything M$ puts out, I think it's volume licensed or something weird like that.

Okay, I see now. A business gets a MSDN license through Microsoft Licensing. My discs do say that they are "subject to volume licensing" and looking closer at the discs, I see that they not only have Visio 2003, but some 2004 updates on them. I have no interesting in using Visio and I guess I can't sell them. It's a good thing I only spent $1 on them. I was hoping to make some money off them. I'm glad you guys told me. I could've gotten in trouble for selling them.

and about the company, the seller I got them from has so much random crap that I think it would be impossible to figure out who first had the CDs.

I bought Kool-Aid Man for the Intellivision loose but with the instructions today for $2 at the Greenwood Flea Market in Greenwood, Louisiana. I also bought loose copies of Rampage and River Raid II for $5 each there. I stopped at another flea market today too, but didn't find anything. And sadly enough, their snack stand had run out of deep-fried Twinkies! Dammit! That sounded heart-cloggingly good.

My Microsoft Office 2007 full licensed copy (for pc and mac) came exactly like that.

I'm pretty sure all it means it was purchased through a school type retailer. That's how I got mine. From what I know they are legal to sell.. I could be wrong though.

I picked up
Super Mario Allstars + World for $25 at bookman's. Not cheap, but I wanted to play the game and can't seem to find a good deal on it, plus it was all paid for in credit that I got by trading in stuff I got for free.

Also got a Konami brand PSX DDR pad from a friend for free.

That $2 TV I found... The color works again on it. All I did was leave it for a day. Now I need to open it again and put the focus back to where it was before, or something to get rid of some slight color bleeding. This thing's GREAT for NES!

Gamecube lot for $50
http://home.comcast.net/~evanwink/images/games/Finds/finds120.jpg

I also picked up a genesis w/ a few games + Starcraft & Brood Wars for $8 total on Friday, though that was all I found after a number of sales/thrifts. Thursday I found an Epyx 2600 stick, GB tetris, and Ms. PacMan for the 5200, all for pretty cheap, but again, that was after a fair bit of hunting. At least the GC lot will make up for a bit.

edit: dang, MP6 is missing the disc.

Not sure what I did with them, but they are just the jewel case w/ disc that came in the original big box or maybe the battlechest. I've never seen the version in your picture, but I'm guessing they can be bought new in stores that way.

edit: Kitsune has them pictured in a post on page 9 of this thread.

Is that an Atari 400 or 800?

I wish I could find good old computers. All I can find is the stuff that's too new for a DOS rig and too old to be of practical use.

And my $2 TV is messed up again... It was working fine until I pulled the back off to fix the focus, so it's back to no red again. Maybe if I leave it for a day again...

It seems like everyone is finding Starcraft/Brood War but me. I've been looking for awhile now and the best I've found is a disc only Brood War (no thanks). If anyone feels like hooking a fella up...

I haven't been buying much because ebay really sucks now. I did get a free Rock Band 2 and Too Human, but that's it.

Today turned unexpectedly in to a big spending day since I didn't plan to do any hunting nor did I have any deals lined up. Not sure I ended up with the greatest deals, but here they are:

http://home.comcast.net/~evanwink/images/games/Finds/finds121a.jpg
Quite happy with this because my virtual boy collection gets neglected, but is one I would most like to see complete or nearly so. Box isn't perfect, but good enough for me, and now I finally have a stand and ac adapter. Paid $50 for this off Craigslist. Emailed about it a couple days ago, so figured I missed out, but then got an email today that a deal fell through.

http://home.comcast.net/~evanwink/images/games/Finds/finds121b.jpg

http://home.comcast.net/~evanwink/images/games/Finds/finds121c.jpg

This was another CL deal. Looked quite good on paper, so I didn't even dicker on price in advance: NES w/ 40 games for $50, and SNES w/ 43 games for $70. Well, this lot has clearly been picked over at least some, as evidenced by the complete lack of anything Mario except SMB/DH. That just isn't possible from a natural collection of 80 nintendo games. So after looking it over and not seeing much to get excited about I was going to just leave the NES behind, so the guy offered it all to me for 100, which I took. Out of the NES games I get to add Golgo 13, Spiderman, and Star Trek: TNG to my collection, and everything is pretty much "meh". Notable games from the SNES stuff are: Speed Racer, Gradius III, Castlevania IV, Lock On, Utopia, Act Raiser 2, 3 Ninjas, Illusions of Gaia, Spike McFang, Gemfire, Ghoul Patrol, Eye of the Beholder, and MegaManX.

This controller box and 2 controllers are very weird. I think they are bootlegs. The controllers just don't look or feel quite right (the buttons are super stiff). Also, the box isn't shiny like it appears, and the graphics just seem a little fuzzy. It does have the 'seal of quality' and everything that would ID it as official, it just seems cheap.

I'm pretty sure the boxed SNES controller I got a year or so ago was a bootleg as well. Exactly as you described it, plus the sticker around the buttons wasn't aligned properly. I use the box to store spare junk in now and the controller is just floating through my drawers of accessories.

NayusDante
10-20-2008, 11:34 PM
That controller looks a LOT like the ones on sale at Play N Trade, which are definitely bootleg. The sticker around the buttons should be a healthy looking gray, not like what that one has. Still, pretty good lot.

I love it when the value village misprices playstation games as computer games since that makes them .99 instead of 4.99 and it's twice as good when the games are good and the discs are mint. So I picked up Suikoden and Vagrant Story complete and mint for $1.98 total. I did pass up a Matthew Lesko dvd for 4.99.

From a trip out of state this weekend:

3D Tetris (Virtual Boy) - $25...All I need now is Jack Bros. for complete U.S. collection goodness.

Desert Strike (Lynx) - $10...I was particularly happy about this because after my house got robbed about two years ago this was the one Lynx title that took the longest to replace. Now I have it again. Very cool.

I got a bit of a shock today.

I bought this randomly at goodwill awhile ago.

Apparently it's an R7 or something >_>,

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v17/otknot/DSCN0887.jpg

I kinda sat there like "What..." for a second.

I know it's not worth much still...
Please refer to here --> http://www.digitpress.com/DP/cmf/game.cmf?gameid=27021 (http://www.digitpress.com/forum/../DP/cmf/game.cmf?gameid=27021)

It's still a nice surprise non-the-less.~

I can see the first draft of your post in that pic! Great find.

And get your 360 controller away from that Febreze!

Money's tight so I didn't buy a lot of stuff today.

I found:
Mike Tyson's Punch-Out - CIB! (no price, I'm selling this. :P) And yes, it even includes the letter.
Leisure Suit Larry 1 (original version) for the Apple ][, brand new: $2!

I passed on:
Mega Man 5 cart only - $4 (someone snatched it before I did).

Also of note, one booth had a ton of RealMagic-compatible games. They made MPEG2 playback cards back in the day, and I'd only heard of one game that was compatible with it. But I found six or seven new ones there... I figured the card would be around but I didn't see it so I gave up. :\

Not sure if this was a "deal" but it was a total impulse buy.

Gamecube + two controllers + nintendo memory card + warioware for $30.

I'm still not sure why I bought it.

edit: from goodwill

They have a few more copies that I may pick up on Friday for the old trade box. There are also a bunch of copies of Gun and the Marc Ecko game in the backroom at the same price, I may buy a copy of Gun.

Are you rich? Thats more than I make in a year.

I'm by no means rich I just work really hard and the only thing I really spend any money on is games (well and my car and computers) and now is a good time to snatch up some good buys.

The time when you have lots of disposable income is great but usually short lived. Sometimes I think back to when I was at that point and wish I saved a little but I'm doing fine these days and it was fun to be able to get what I wanted when I wanted it. So I say spend it while you can and get the things you really want when they make themselves available - because that opportunity isn't always going to be there.

I had my mother purchase Metal and Lace for me back in the day for one of my birthdays. The funny part is that I did not even have a PC at the time. I had a Macintosh. I bought it just so I could play it at a friend's house. The game sucks hard, but the memories... oh the memories... Long story short, PM sent regarding Metal and Lace :). Never seen the goofy nude patch though.

Metal and Lace was always an adult themed game, that aspect plays out pretty much like strip poker. Metal and Lace at Otaku Fridge (review from the former version of Hentai Neko (http://www.otakufridge.com/archives/category/h-games/games-hentai-metal-and-lace-ningyou)).

Just picked up at the post office less than an hour ago, 7 MVS carts (Sonic Wings 2 & 3, Neo Geo Cup 98, Breakers Revenge, Metal Slug 3 & 4, and Puzzle Bobble)

Although it may not have the most depth, Sonic Wings 3 has always been my favorite of the series, nice lineup of Neo-Geo carts there. :)

A few things I got this week:

N64 Promotional Tape- $2 at Goodwill
Space Combat (Sears)- $3 at Goodwill
Ice Climbers GBA sealed- $5 at Hollywood Video

I passed up on a Famiclone without a controller or AC adapter for $6, despite the fact that I'm pretty sure an NES AC adapter would have worked with it.

Star Legions, Unreal - $2 each; Star Legions is complete, with old mail-order lists from when DOS games were $59.95
Mechwarrior 2 ATI Rage Edition, Outpost 2, Quake expansion - $1 each

And the cool stuff....

From a church annual flea market thing that I passed after class:

Xbox Demos - $0.10 each, 19 total, mostly the magazine includes, but also a "Best of Xbox Demos" disk, Rogue Galaxy (PS2, been wanting to try that one), and the FFXI beta. I was just thinking about looking for an FFXI beta disk the other day...

Palm m500 with cradle and AC - $2, I talked them down from $3 because it wouldn't power on while I was there. The battery was completely dead, so these have to charge 20 minutes or so before they'll boot. It's got an SD card slot, so I can put my DP Guide for Portable Devices on it, once I convert it to Plucker fomat.

Apple Macintosh PowerBook 5300cs - $10

I think the battery is dead, but AC power works fine.

I'm not really sure what a lot of these ports are. I'm guessing one's IR, one's a mouse, and then mic and headphones, but what are the others? I had two old guys say "Hey, USB!" and point at the wide one, but it's something Apple. Oddly enough, that little button below it is power. Yes it's that hidden. I'm no Mac expert, so can anyone tell me if I can get a CD-ROM attached to this? It has floppy and PMCIA, and my wireless PMCIA card doesn't fit in all the way, so it's some kind of Apple PMCIA.

I need some quick help. I am out in Az `and there is a place that has a sega jvc. They want 50 he said it had every thing but the original controller. What is the original controller for this one? The one that comes with it is a genesis 6 button. It looks clean for its time and there is only 1 sega adapter and av cables. What is the going rate? Thanks.

They also had a snacther but wanted get this 160. GOOD Night I got excited until I seen the price.

^What's a sega jvc?

JVC released something called the X'Eye, a Sega Genesis + Sega CD combo unit. They have a funny shape, and they're highly desirable. I believe they go for $100ish. You should be able to get a Genesis for $20, and a Sega CD for maybe $50-60, but at any rate, under the price of an X'Eye usually. Still, I believe that it only uses one AC, so it's a convenience thing.

I'd jump on that for $50, as long as it works. Bring a Genesis and CD game to test if you can. There might be an X'Eye branded controller, but at any rate, the deal is worth it for being incomplete.

InsaneDavid

The JVC X'Eye branded controller is a standard three-button Genesis control pad with "JVC" printed in the center where the Genesis logo usually is. Yes, the system is a Sega Genesis and Sega CD in one that uses one power adapter. That's the kicker, make sure it has the correct power adapter, not a Genesis 2 power adapter that's being used in it's place. (the Genny 2 adapter will get most of them to work but outputs too little amperage) The correct power adapter will say JVC on it, but any adapter 10V or so outputting at least 1.5A will work fine.

The additionall perks outside of having the two systems in one is that the cartridge slot is wide enough to accommodate JPN Mega Drive cartridges (some will still be region locked and require a region mod). Also most versions of the X'Eye have standard composite RCA jacks for video and audio. The CD drive also seems to load up faster and all around the system tends to be better manufactured and run smoother than a vanilla Genesis setup.

If it has the adapter and is working I'd say $50.00 is a fine price.

This controller box and 2 controllers are very weird. I think they are bootlegs. The controllers just don't look or feel quite right (the buttons are super stiff). Also, the box isn't shiny like it appears, and the graphics just seem a little fuzzy. It does have the 'seal of quality' and everything that would ID it as official, it just seems cheap.

http://home.comcast.net/~evanwink/images/games/Finds/finds121d.jpg

Yeah, that controller is a bootleg. The "fuzzy" graphics on the box give it away. There are two stores here in town (Madison, WI) that have 20-30 of those bootleg controllers for sale at $5 - $10 or so. They work fine, but the buttons and d-pad are too stiff compared the real deal.

A few days ago I traded a guy an N64 w/ Mario 64 and a few junk games for this Hori NES Wing Commander stick and a bunch of other assorted things (6 NES games, Mario RPG manual, Secret of Evermore manual, NTSC-J MGS, working GB, misc. other stuff and some GameStop posters: unreal tournament, ace combat 6, Mario galaxy, assassin's creed, Nights, Jericho, Time Crisis 4). The stick is the main thing I thought was cool, though.

http://home.comcast.net/~evanwink/images/games/Finds/finds122.jpg

Today I emailed a guy about a NES-2 w/ games that I thought he had a bad p/s for, and he was asking 30. So I asked if I could bring one and test it. He said I misunderstood, and that the console just didn't work, and it seemed to be an issue with the power or switch or something. So I offered 20 and that was taken. I picked it up a bit ago, turns out after some cleaning it actually was just his p/s. I get to add Ultimate Basketball to my collection, though it is in crummy shape, plus a bunch of sleeves. I really like the fun-co-land ones.

http://home.comcast.net/~evanwink/images/games/Finds/finds123.jpg
the beer is just cause I just pulled it and I wanted to show off my cool RotJ glasses that I got as a wedding present way back when, and make you all thirsty!

p.s. if anyone is interested in a poster other than nights or mario galaxy, I'd part with them, though I imagine shipping is a pain.
