Nintendo Z-bag (pristine condition, too!)

I hit the Seven Mile Fair (Racine County Wisconsin flea market) I got:
Game Genie (Genesis) $6
Wayne Gretzky and the NHLPA All Stars and Pro Quarterback complete for $1 each.
There's a bunch of vendors that carry junk video games every time I go but prices are pretty reasonable at most of them, usually $3-5 each for complete games so I have to go back when I get some time and have some extra money.
I went to one seller (some guy who didn't speak much english and had some translate for him) that was selling some misc PCs and other random TVs and DVD players and he of course has some random video game crap too. I saw two yellowed SNES consoles in crammed in a corner of the bottom of one of his cases and they were console only and asked him how much? He said I don't know, they dont work, finally he said $10 each:shameful: I told him thats a lot to pay for broken stuff. He didn't know what to say to me after that, then I walked away.
The one thing I hate when I go to Flea markets is how many random vendors are trying to cash in on the video game craze lately. There was a cosmetics dealer right when you walk in that had a whole shelf of those crap NES pirate clones and games. Another vendor dealt in paintball equipment and Airsoft and Pellet guns, had some decent stuff too, but of course there's the bin of PS2 and X Box games (completely out of place there) for $10 each, no refund or exchange. Obviously trying to cash in and obviously untested since it says no refund or exchange. Stuff like that makes me pretty mad to see and there were several more like that too.
The other thing that really ticks me off is the number of Pirate NES console and game clones dealers. I'd love to be a NOA Rep and really set 'em ablaze.

Technically, as long as there are no built in games, they are legal.
If they are selling those multicarts, that's a different story.

Unless they have pirate originals, in which case NOA can't touch them.

SWAP MEET FINDS
Fatal Frame (game + box XBOX)
Jet Set Radio Future (complete)
Indigo Prophecy (XBOX complete)
$10 total
Xenogears (mint and complete)
cost: JSRF + IP + $5
It was priced at $15 in one of the game dealers stands and I didn't really wanna pay 15 for any game at the swap meet, so the guy offered to do the two xbox games + $5 in trade for it. I kept fatal frame though.
Silent Hill 3 (complete PS2)
$5

It was gutted and took a bit of cleaning, but I dropped a flat panel+VGA adapter in there and some small PC speakers for sound. Is nice now. All it cost was the time and gas to pick it up, which was roughly $10.

All I found today was a loose Model 2 Sega CD and MIB Super Return of The Jedi.
It came to $8 all together. :)
Oh, I also found a couple of MIB NES games yesterday. Xenophobe and The Adventures of Bayou Billy. Both are nearly spotless inside and out, plus all of the inserts are there.
Bayou Billy's bardcode was cut out of the box though. :/
This came to $5 with the included complete copy of Deception 3.

Hitman Blood Money $8.10 after discount

The last two were "new" in the sense that they were the gutted display copies. I'd have loved to find C2C sealed for $5. :P

Tetris PCB arrived in the mail over the weekend while I was out...
http://www.classicplastic.net/digitalpress/finds/DP-Finds-2009-03-22(01).jpg
...nice and clean but has a pretty bad tobacco smell emanating from it. I can't complain though, it works great. I had it in my Klax cabaret for awhile before putting Klax back in. I need to put a support in so it can be mounted properly (yet not be in the way of the larger Klax board when I have that one installed) before I can leave it in the cabinet long term. I also fixed the coin counter in the cabinet today, had an old spider nest gumming it up.

2) Dungeons & Dragons Heroes - $5.95
3) Tekken 4 - $5.95
4) Kenny vs. Spenny - season 3 - $9.95
5) NBA Jam: TE - $3.95
6) Robotron 64 - $3.95
The store had Robotron 64 originally priced at 7-something but was marked down to $5.95. I offered $3.95 for it (the same price as Genny games). I overpaid given the condition it's in, but I still wanted it :)
Here's a close-up of it - this is after I cleaned it!

Oh, and the Moonwalker is mint and complete - $4.99. Castle of Illusion was $2.99.

I had a crazy score again from the same guy. A couple of weeks ago, I scored about 200 Coleco, 2600, Intellivision, and 5200 games, not to mention 21 boxed Vectrex games and a boxed system. He found the boxes to all the games(he already gave me the manuals, and sold me the boxes for $100. I think I did okay and will let the pics speak to themselves

I always wondered if rental was actually the reason for the prices being so high. It made more sense to me that the publishers charged more because rental stores were the main purchasers, and maybe they got some kind of rental royalty agreements.
a old girlfriend of min epurchased say anything for me on vhs right before dvd came out and the only way to get it was full price which was around 75$ at the time. I was floored when i found out how much it cost. But I loved that movie to death and still watch it, albeit on dvd now.

I went on vacation for a few days and stopped at a video game store, I was only alloud to spend 20 dollars. I wish I had more money because they had ikaruga for gamecube for 30$, harvest moon for n64 for 30$ and tons of other stuff. I looked around and found
sonic and knuckles (genesis)
gauntlet (nes)
cosmic carnage (32x)
nba jam tournament edition (32x)
bubsy 2 (genesis)
on my way out I noticed a bin full of loose games dvds and cds, I asked the man up front how much per cd and he said 1.50$ each, Their were some
good ps1 rpgs in the n but they were too scratched up, I noticed some really scratched up sega cd games in the bin and found
advanced dungeons and dragons
spiderman vs the kingpin
sega classics 4 pack
ecco the tides of time ( this one is not that scratched)
eternal champions
wolfchild
power monger
I struck a deal with the person and got all of this for 20$. Im hoping they work but I have no way of testing them because I dont have a sega cd.

If you can set up the Kega Fusion or other compatible Genesis emulator, you can test them with that as long as you have a working CD drive.
A neighbor bagged up a bunch of unwanted goods and gave them to me. Mostly dolls and toys I'll pass off to neighborhood kids(it was all the stuff in a bag, I had no option but to take it all). A few forgettable software CDs were in it(MS Flight Simulator 98 among them), 2 film cameras, a cheapo dollar store FM radio, a VHS tape I'll never be able to watch....
... and an Optimus brand AM/FM Radio with cassette player. Probably not worth much but I do have a few cassettes still. The radio also gets decent indoor reception.

The Rippingtons - Curves Ahead
The Very Best of Sting & The Police (2002 reissue)

$1 each. The seller wanted $2, which was way beyond my budget, but she saw me and gave me a discount because I've been buying stuff from her for years.
One booth had a ton of TI99-4A carts in near mint condition, but the seller wanted a buck for each so I left them behind. Most were white for some reason. I remember Miner 2049er in particular because the cart had this funky shape.
I'm kinda ticked off because I won't be able to go to the flea market tomorrow (I have a... uh... translation conference thing at 10 AM) but that's how it goes. I guess.

I would have been all over that one, had I found it. It's hard to find any decent games for the TI in the wild, it's usually stuff like Home Management and Alien Addition and possibly Parsec. Miner 2049'er was a late release that was played through the expansion port on the side, hence the funky shape. $1 was a steal for that game.
All I found after two days of thrifting this week was a boxed Silk Worm for the NES, $2.92. It had the styrofoam insert, but no instructions.

Haven't played it yet (still at work, plus I just finished moving, so my consoles aren't hooked up yet) but the Gamespot review says "Ridge Racer 64 has to be one of the best racing games ever to hit Nintendo's system." And IGN has it in their Top 25 N64 games.

I got resident evil 5 for 60$, I doubt this counts as a find though
No it doesn't ;)
I do have a bit of a issue with what some people consider "finds" around here though. Picking up RE5, MadWorld, or any other new release is not a find, unless it's a GREAT deal or price, and even then it should go under the Discounts and Deals or Modern Gaming threads.
"Finds" are scores at garage sales, thrift stores, or even a great deal at a retro store or flea market. It's a "find" that you stumbled upon without really expecting it. When you go to Target to get RE5 at $20 off, it's not a find, it's a deal.
On with the show!

Since, I usually don't take pictures of my lame finds, I'll surprise everyone with a blurry photo! I haven't done my usual clean-up of the games yet, so there's plenty of stickers and crusty goo (semen?!) on them.
This find is notable because it's the only TG-16 "anything" I've ever found. It's fitting, as I understand it's a crappy game.
Anyway
Otogi 2 was $5 CIB at Bluckbuster
Battle Royal was $2.03 at Value Village Thrift
MGS (CIB $5) and Bushido Blade ($1 disc only) were found at some pawn in a bad part of Charlotte. The guy told me that I just missed a complete copy of FFVII. I never liked FF anyway. Busido Blade is in bad need of a resurfacing.

NES System
Eliminator Cleaning Cart
Zapper
1st Party Controllers x2
Audio/Video Cord
RF Adaptor
AC Adaptor
$10
Advanced Dungeons & Dragons With Sleeve & Manual (Some Label Damage On Top Left Corner) $2
Dragon Warrior II With Manual & Map (Manual Looks Pretty Crappy & Map Is Rather Worn) $2
Zelda II: The Adventures of Link Complete (CS) (Pretty Sure It Didn't Originally Come With A Map) $2
I stop by this Salvation Army about once a week and this is the first time I've bought something in awhile as I rarely (as most people) see new video games for sale at the same old thrift stores. I always take the time to stop by as while I don't find much I do tend to have a good to really good find about once a year that seems to make it worth stopping by when I'm nearby.
I now have both Zelda games complete that I eventually found in the wild over the last year and I now have a beat up map to complete my Dragon Warrior II. This is actually the first time I've seen a popular system (that I got to first) donated to my store in the last 3ish years I've been regularly stopping by. I bought a Odyssey2 with some games a few years ago from this store and also a Game.com on another visit.

I scored once again. 50 colecovision games, some CBS boxed Atari 400 games, and a white astrocade. The gaming gods are smiling upon me.

This find is notable because it's the only TG-16 "anything" I've ever found. It's fitting, as I understand it's a crappy game.
You might be on the verge of a lucky streak. I used to gripe about how I could never find any Turbo stuff in the wild, and then one day I found a couple games at a flea market. I said repeatedly that I'd never find any Turbo stuff again. Then at a thrift I found six games. Later at the flea market I find Turbo Duo games in a pile of old CDs and cassettes. Then a game or two at a resale store. For some reason, when I believed I'd never find any other Turbo Grafx-16 or Turbo Duo stuff in the wild, that's when the lucky streak started for me. Hopefully the same thing will work for you too. Although I might have jinxed it by bringing it up. Sorry. Anyway, I hope this starts you off on a good six-month winning streak.

I'm hoping, because I've always been curious about the TG-16. For some reason I still have this memory of seeing them on clearance at ToysR'Us for under $50 and I thought it was a really good price, because they had been so expensive.
I'd really like to find a reasonably priced one, as it's the only system I currently want but don't have. So far this year the thrift has produced a 32x and Sega CD, for under $15 each boxed and working. So maybe if I'm patient I'll find more.

Yep, I gotta admit that is great cover art.
On another note, I hit another Half Price Books today and found some interesting stuff that I'd like your opinions about.
Armored Core (PS1) $14.99
GTA (PS1) Greatest Hits $9.99
Final Fantasy Chronicles (PS1) $9.99
Final Fantasy Anthology (PS1) $9.99
These are all complete and in great shape, but I'm not a huge Playstation collector and these prices didn't seem very "half-price" to me. What do you guys think?
Also, they had a MINT MINT MINT Gamecube NBA 2K3 but they are having problems finding the disc :( When they do find it, they will call me to come get it! Nice!

You got a good deal on the FF collections, especially if they're black label and Anthology has the soundtrack disk (one of my favorite extras, I might add). I don't know the value of GTA, as that's not in my field of interest. Armored Core, on the other hand, I believe is actually worth a little less. It's not that common to my knowlege, but it just doesn't go for that much. I got mine a month ago for $5 at Play N Trade.
I regularly see sealed Anthology and Chronicles for ~$30-50 at the flea market, and I believe they're available on Amazon. Actually, after checking... They're $17 each and elligble for free shipping. At any rate, they belong in any collection and you paid less than the going rate. However, they ARE notorious for load times, and I personally prefer the SNES FF and DS CT releases.

Nothing much today.
Games:
* Nancy Drew 4 (PC, for eBay)
* USA Wars: Desert Storm with Coalition Command (PC, sealed in jewel case) -- I can't find any information on this anywhere. Amazon seems to think it's a book, but the back of the case says otherwise... I have a feeling this game got released under another name.
* The Software Toolworks CD Game Pack II (PC, digipak only)
* Star Trek: Starfleet Command III (PC, CD + key) -- I bought this because it was a buck so I figured I could trade it... and the game sells for like 75+ or more on eBay. WTF?! o_O
Music:
* Scottish Drinking And Pipe Songs... exactly what it says.

My first wild TG-16 find EVER. I was so stoked when I found this stuff today:

This'll go down in my top 5 best finds ever. Kind of sad perhaps but I miss my TG-16 and regret selling it 19 years ago.

I actually only purchased the two FF boxsets, and left the GTA and Armored Core as that seemed too high for a greatest hits and a standard release. And both of the FF's are the black label, and the Music CD is included and nice! Thanks for the input!

Oh I totally forgot about my first TG-16 find! They had a complete copy of "Bloody Wolf" that looked interesting, but it was priced at $19.99 with "RARE!" written on the price sticker, so I passed. But, cool to find anyway.

Today I picked up two things:
1) Gameshark for Gameboy Color. It came with all the packaging material, registration card, instructions, etc... it also came with the instruction book and CD-rom for the gameboy advance version (although I don't know why, it didn't come with the GBA gameshark)
2) Star Trek: Deep Space 9 for the SNES. The front label is toast.

I received my copy of Super Mario Galaxy in the mail today. Waiting on a few more packages (a couple of Wii games and several 360 games, including the Collector's Ed. of Street Fighter IV).

I'd settle for that, I could always get the games online.
