People who snatch up every copy of a particular game make things annoying as hell for us who only shop brick-and-mortar.

I checked out a Goodwill before work yesterday, and got a couple things:

PS2:
Lego Indiana Jones (complete) - $9.99

Beyond Good & Evil official strategy guide (Brady Games) - 99 cents

Ok, what the "beep"? This is my fourth 3DO found in the wild and the third in the last year and a half. How come I can never find a CD-I, Turbo Grafix or Neo Geo(any of them) system? I'm like a 3DO magnet. This one was in pristine condition, as if it's hardly been used. It didn't have a controller(grrrrrrrr) but I checked in the store to make sure it powered on and the cd tray had a worthless golf game inside. Oh well, atleast the game was free.

LOL, I found the same kind of 3DO at a thrift store for $8, had the controller and inside, yup, a golf game.

I've never seen a 3DO in the wild but found two TG-16's in the wild within a month or so of each other. One had the booster too.

I have only ever found a 3do system 1 time in the wild. I found the panasonic version at a thrift store, it was marked 14.99 and was half off so 7.50 There were no games but 2 controllers, it did work luckliy. I would say they are pretty hard to come by.

What is the point of having multiple copies of it?

Should there be an excuse for everything ? :smash:

There are millions of FF7 copies all over the world, i don't even have 100 (but close) so what does it matter if i want to get as much as possible ? 8-)

People who snatch up every copy of a particular game make things annoying as hell for us who only shop brick-and-mortar.

So you suggest that all the world waits for you to get a copy of certain game to purchase more copies ?

Come back to earth, man; if you want a game, just buy it; if you don't have the money, get a job. There are many pre-order campaigns for almost every limited release, don't blame other people.

TODAY's FINDS:

Final Fantasy 8: Complete, 1st Ed: $15 usd
Castlevania - Dawn of Sorrow : Complete, Good Condition: $ 18 usd

wow close to 100 copies of ff7,

My dad called me a few minutes ago from the thift store, he picked up a snes system with super mario world, yoshis island, killer instinct, zelda, and a couple other games all bundled in a bag for 12.95

Then he called a couple minutes later and said he found some ps1 games, i told him to grab mega man legends 2, the only other decent one he named was ddr konamix, but i said pass for 3.It looks like mega man legends 2 is pretty valuebale, going for 30 and up on ebay.

Eskobar: Why so many copies of FF7?
I don't get why this is so foreign to so many people (not just you Kuros). While it isn't common among video game collectors to accumulate many copies of the same game (unless you count incidentals like SMB/DH :)), plenty of people collect as many of a given 'thing' as they can get their hands on. Okay, now I can't think of any particular examples that I've come across, but I swear it seems like I have.

Anyway, it makes about as much sense as collecting anything really does.

I totally agree with you, if you analyze why you collect; it can or can't make sense ... but that is up to any collector to decide, i have seen quite bizarre collections and in the end what matter is your dedication to your collection.

I started collecting since mid 80s and i have seen good part of the video game history ....

A few years ago i noticed that in all my years of game hunting that Final Fantasy VII is the ONLY game that i purchase every time i see it ... before Advent Children, you could easily find sealed copies for 10 - 15 usd on Toys-R-Us, eBay, etc ..

After noticing that i decided to collect as many FF7 as i can, without compromising my collections.

Every month i buy at least 2 ... sometimes it cost me 10 usd .. sometimes it costs as high as 40 usd  . I don't have a defined goal for this collection, when i feel i have enough i will stop. I still have a strange joy feeling every time i got a new one

Big Fuckin' N64 Flight Stick $4.98 (anyone ever used one of these? I never knew they existed until today.)

Yeah, I have two of those boxed. It's not a bad fighting stick, even though the only fighting game I've ever played with it was Fighter's Destiny. The joystick is pretty good for Pokemon Puzzle League, though. I can't say much for the flight stick since I don't own any flight-sim games for the N64.

The N64 wasn't really a heavy hitter when it came to flight sims was it? About the closest thing I have is Rouge Squadron, which I'll try and play with it in the near future. I guess I need to look again and see if there were any good flight sims I may have missed that would work well with it.

I have now found two at Goodwill within the last six months. They were in the vcr/dvd section so I figure the lack of controllers confused the people putting them out.

I'm going to purchase some controllers for them soon and will just sell them. Or I could start a 3DO collection similiar to eskobar's FF7 collection. Just think of all the cool things I could make out of 100 3DO's: a brick wall, a tank or my very own teleportation device similiar to Star Trek's.

I used to have one of those same exact sticks. It worked pretty decently, except the controller pak slot on mine never worked.

On a side note, it originally comes with a dust cover for that slot, which yours is missing.

UGH. I just spent like 15 minutes cleaning up an SNES deck, only to realize the AC adapter plug is gone. Instead, there is a single prong in it's place >_<

$5 Broke ass SNES

Passed on:

$35 NES with zelda gray, Mario bros, crap games
$10 Mario Party
$3 Wu Tang: ShaolinStyle

I really should have picked up wu tang. It was minty and fresh, and I love Wu. I hear the game blllooooooooows though.

Anyways, what the hell am I supposed to do with this thing? The top has some chips in it, so even the shell is pretty much useless.

Send it to Eskobar. He can cut it into thirds lengthwise, glue the sides together, paint it black, and have a scale Shinra building for his scale Midgar.

I just recently started my summer vacation, which means the beginning of my summer hunting. Nothing especially amazing so far, but I'm only getting started. :)

At a thrift I found a selection of $1.99 loose carts that was obviously picked over, leaving only sports and vehicle-based games. I left most of the sports games behind, but I figured I'd pick up the vehicle-based stuff. I bought:

Tecmo Super Bowl III: Final Edition (SNES)
BattleTanx (N64)
BattleTanx: Global Assault (N64)
Snowboard Kids (N64)
Top Gear Rally (N64)
Vigilante 8 (N64)

I'm most excited about the Snowboard Kids. I've been wanting to try it for years. For once someone picking over games and leaving the sports has worked to my benefit. :P Too bad the sequel wasn't there too. I left behind a Wave Race 64 and Goldeneye since I already have them. Somebody really should pick those up.

At a Fred Meyer, I found some good stuff on clearance for $14.97, so I bought:

Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker (DS)
Monster Kingdom Jewel Summoner (PSP)
Trauma Center: Second Opinion (Wii)

I'm really racking up the Atlus games so far this summer. Here's to hoping I find more. :)

And finally, at a pawn shop I picked up a complete copy of Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes for GameCube for 9.99. The funny thing is that I saw it there last summer, didn't know if it was worth getting, later saw that it was, but never got a chance to get back there before leaving. I don't know how it survived the year, but I'm all but certain that it's the same copy. I guess nobody around here knows that it sells for around 30-40 bucks on eBay.

Picked up a few things at my local Goodwill today. I got the strategy guide for Parasite Eve for $1.67. Scoured the shelves like mad to see if the game was there, but no luck. I did pick up 2 sealed PC games, though. They are Trivial Pursuit NASCAR edition and Three Dirty Dwarves. They were $2 each. I read somewhere recently that Three Dirty Dwarves is a good game for the Saturn, so I figured for $2 I would try it on the PC.

Went to a garage sale I saw advertised on Craigslist, mainly because they said they had an arcade machine. They did have one, a Blood Bros. cabinet, which they wanted $80 for.

It was in pretty bad condition, so I passed on it.

However, I did get at Gamestop today:

Sky Odyssey-$3
Tube Slider-$6

Tube Slider is really fun, if badly named.

I hit a flea market today but found nothing. It's rained for two days here, and the humidity along with the 100 degree heat made it feel like walking through boiling water. I'm glad I decided to go to the smaller flea market, I would have passed out if I went to anything larger.

On the way home I went to a retro game store and bought Speedball 2 and James Pond 3 for the Genesis. One of those stores that have the boxes out on the shelf, some that state that the game doesn't have instructions, and when you buy them they just give you a loose cart without box or manual. Dammit, I hate that.

Yesterday I went to a Movie Trading Company and bought Road Rash CD for the Sega CD (complete), Fantastic Dizzy, Puggsy, Race Drivin', and Ex-Mutants for the Genesis, loose.

I got a Genesis shelf and a whole bunch of Genesis games free today. I had all of them except for Math Blaster, the Ooze, Super Street Fighter II, and Sub Terrania, but I'm really glad I got the shelf. He had a system too but the Power Brick was torn into, and the controllers buttons sucked, one of the controllers wires was torn into as well. So I'm not taking that, don't need more 3-button controllers and another Genesis II with only half the cables. It took me long enough to find the RF switch for my other extra Genesis. I wish I could take a picture of the shelf, but I don't have a camera with me and my phone is lost.

I plan on keeping 1 of each game for myself. The rest I will be selling. I don't really have any more details than that right now. First thing I have to do is inventory it all and considering how many there are I'm not sure how long that is going to take.

If the estimate of 5000 games is right then I would have paid .66 a game. So $3300.

I will give you 67 cents per game!

Awesome weekend.

First was yesterday; this was from craigslist, and was $30 total:
Lunar PS1 complete mint
Lunar 2 PS1 SEALED (just game case is sealed with security seal at top, outer box is not sealed but everything is mint)
Lunar official strategy guide
boxed lunar puppet promo thing

I got some more good finds today at the swap meet:
They are in order of when I found them.

Grim Fandango (complete and mint in CD case, no large cardboard box) - $3
Was originally $5, offered 3 and it was taken.

Pokemon Yellow cart only - $3
Same as Grim Fandango, was originally $5, offered 3 and it was taken.

4 NES toasters with hookups, 9 controllers - $40
Some guy had a pile of systems he was selling out of the back of his truck for $15 each. Most were crap like N64 and genesis, but there were four NES. I asked if he would do $10 each if I bought all four and he did, also threw in an extra controller he found.

Kirby and the Amazing Mirror, Mario Kart Super Circuit (ripped label), Mario Pinball Land all cart only - $10
Were originally $5 each, offered 10 for all three and it was taken.

Mega Man Legends 2 (complete)
Digimon World 2 (in Blockbuster case with sticker on disc)
Inuyasha: A Feudal Fairy Tale (complete)
Jet Grind Radio (no manual)
Sonic Adventure (complete, sega allstars)
Tomb Raider Chronicles (DC, complete)
$5 total.
Was $1 each game. I offered $5 for 6 games and it was taken.

Pretty much all are up for sale / trade, except for possibly the GBA games. I may keep those.

Wow, where do i begin on this find. A storage shed of sealed Sega CD, 32X, Game Gear and 3DO games. I'm in the process of inventorying it all. This is what it looked like in the 20 ft trailer I brought it home in.

So what's the story behind this? That's a pretty impressive haul and for $3300 is quite nice for boxed up stuff.

Back to reality on my end, I found two Xbox copies of Crimson Skies for $0.50 each. One is to hold onto for play while the other is to replace a standard black case that was used as a replacement to a bad conditioned case on Metal Slug 3 sold to me. I'll see if I can sell the then black cased game somewhere to make up for the $1 or something.

I also bought a 36" Sony Trinitron TV manufactured in 2002 for under $80. Looked good and worked well, just need to pick it up tomorrow from the thrift store since it couldn't fit in my car. It'll be nice to have a big 'ol CRT displaying my classic games again. :)

The seller said that he and his parents bought a game store (which I know is true because I met him there) and after they closed the deal the seller told them about a storage shed being included in the deal. He said they just couldn't move this many games and wern't expecting them anyway. So he put it up on Craigslist. So I saw the ad and called them. He originally asked for $3750 for the whole package but after all things were said and done I ended up paying $3300.

Seems to me you'll garner yourself a nice boost to your personal collection as well as make several times your money back. Could be find of the year here IMO. Very, very nice. You should take some pics of everything out of those boxes, if thats even physically possible. :D

Anyway, I got something pretty good yesterday.

Very interesting. It's hard to beat a storage sale stacked with boxed games! It's half-way through the year and this is one of the top, if not best hauls I've seen. Any plans on posting a list in a thread at some point, besides just "for sale?" Would be interesting to see a complete compilation of this find (though a lot of work and effort)!

Not really "finds", but I grabbed:

$2.50 Tetris Attack (SNES)
$2.50 Castlevania 2: Simon's Quest (NES)

meh.

I did start taking pics of each case as I opened them but after about 15 cases so I just stopped.

It definately will be alot of work to get a list on here. So far the 3DO games have a very big selection but have a low quantity of each. The 32x, Sega CD and Game Gear games have a smaller selection of titles but have a higher quantity of games.

Since it was requested I am going to type out the list of games that I have found so far. There appears to be about 80% non sports titles and 20% sports. The upside is that all of it is sealed aside from the first list of 3DO games(which was all in 2 boxes). The downside is that as a whole there doesn't seem to be a large selection of titles, its been tons of copys of the same game. Example: 148 copys of Power Factory, 107 copys of Formula One: Beyond the Limit and 122 copys of Doom. I think in the end I am going to end up with maybe 500 copys of a couple games. I've got my hopes up but thats the trend so far.

I would gladly take any doubles of these off your hands for a fair price (none of that 67 cent crap I mentioned earlier). Just one of each, of course. These would be for -me-, not for reselling.

I've never done anything like this in bulk before. I'd love to try to start moving them but first I have to figure out what all I have. After that I have to figure out what to do about shipping. I've sold a few things here and there but since this is just such a large amount of games to move I really have to see whats going to be the best way to do it. For instance, I don't want to do bubble mailers because I dont want the games to be crushed or broken. So should I ship them in boxes and buy the boxes in bulk or should I go priority mail and get the free boxes from the USPS but pay more for shipping? Obviously the Sega CD and 3DO long box games aren't quite as easy because of the size.

It's all pretty overwhelming to deal with.
