cds are my niche, i cant tell you what i do with them, occasionally ill rip a few to my external hd, but i am mostly buying them for resale. Its really hard to make money on them however, you have to check discs and cases, and make sure all the artwork is there, and people usually are asking too much for them, you have to really get them cheap.

I stopped by the flea market today before I have to go to work and today was a good day.

First vendor I saw was selling a bunch of different electronics and games. He had a lot of crap nes/n64 games and ps1 sports. I saw Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee and Banjo Kazooie. He wanted $8, I offered $6 and it was accepted.

-Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee (Complete)
-Banjo Kazooie (Cart)
-$6 for both

Second venodr I saw had clothes, toys, etc. I saw a box of genesis games. Looked inside and saw a bunch of sports titles. Did manage to find Decap Attack boxed. Price was $3, I accepted.

-Decap Attack (Boxed)
-$3

Third vendor I saw had a box of NES titles and I looked through it. Nothing too spectacular. I picked up Tiny Toons Adventures and Whomp Em for $3. For some reason I thought Whomp Em was worth more but I was wrong

-Tiny Toons (Cart Only)
-Whomp Em (Cart Only)
-$3 for both

The last vendor I went to had my greatest find in the wild. EVER. I saw a bunch of NES/SNES/GEN/N64 Games in a glass case. All Mario, Sonic, Donkey Kong, Kirby, etc marked at $20-$30 each. I was about to walk away when I saw a few other carts to the side. I found Final Fantasy III (aka VI) and.... OGRE BATTLE: THE MARCH OF THE BLACK QUEEN!!! I asked how much. She said 2 for $15. I gladly paid and walked away with a smile on my face.

-Final Fantasy III
-Ogre Battle: The march of the Black Queen
-Both for $15

Just when I thought my day couldn't be better, as I was leaving I walked by a trash can and did a double take. I went back and saw a Genesis game on top. It was Sonic 2. I thought cool, free game (even though it's common and I have it). Then I saw more a little further down. PGA European Tour, Mortal Kombat II, Dungeons & Dragons, and Streets of Rage 2. There was also 2 controllers in there. A SN Propad for the SNES and a SN Propad 2 for the Genesis. All of this was in the trash.

WHY WOULD THEY TRASH THESE?!??!?! :frustrated:

-Sonic 2 (cart)
-PGA European Tour (cart)
-Mortal Kombat II (cart)
-Streets of rage 2 (cart)
-Dungeons & Dragons (cart)
-SN Propad for SNES
-SN propad 2 for GEN
-FREE

Thanks for reading!

What a weekend for me, I just got back from my one yardsale of the year, the annual Carnival of Sales in New York. I woke up at 7, left the house at 8, and called it a day at noon. Four hours of non stop walking, thank God I had a Camel Bak. I scoured around until 10, finding nothing, thinking this year would suck. Passed on $65 Dreamcasts with no cords, the $15 games to along with it, $25 N64s, and $20 PSP games. I saw a $10 N64 and a $15 LG White Chocolate in great shape and with all cords and box, but passed. Went back near the end of the day to get it and it was gone. I passed on a mint Game Gear with games and a carrying bag for $15. I still have the crappy one I bought last year that I can't move. Then around 10am and constantly until noon I struck gold.

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e3/Porksta/DSC00753.jpg
We Love Katamari - $5 FOR SALE/TRADE
Harvest Moon - $2
Parasite Eve guide - $.25 FOR SALE/TRADE
Endless Ocean (Canadian) - $5 FOR SALE/TRADE

Then as I am walking by around 11am I pass a guy starting to empty a box of Gamecube/PS2/Xbox games in his truck. They were $6 a pop, I got them for $5 each. All complete.

Eternal Darkness FOR SALE/TRADE
Metroid Prime FOR SALE/TRADE
Metroid Prime with bonus disc
Resident Evil 3
Resident Evil Zero FOR SALE/TRADE
Super Smash Bros Melee FOR SALE/TRADE

He threw in the 20GB Hard Drive for free, said it didn't work. We will see about that.

Came across this guy early on, didn't really want it but decided if it was still there at the end of the day I would take it:

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e3/Porksta/DSC00756.jpg
Hyper Scan X-Men edition complete with extra controller, and Ben 10 and Intergalactic Wrestling cards - $5 FOR SALE/TRADE

More finds:
http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e3/Porksta/DSC00755.jpg
Star Wars Trilogy Widescreen brand new - $15, talked down from $20. I am so happy I found this, as some of you know I sold the full screen version recently in my forum auction hoping I would one day find the WS, and sure enough I did!
Fear Dot Com - $1
Young Guns sealed - $1
Slipknot biography CD - $1
Donovan McNabb watch brand new - $5 at Salvation Army a few days earlier FOR SALE/TRADE

Then at the end of the day I drove around with some family at some other yard sales and found these:
http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e3/Porksta/Wagon004.jpg
Battle Arena Toshinden Not For Resale - $3 FOR SALE/TRADE
Final Fantasy Anthology missing one of the game discs, water damaged manual - $1 LOOKING FOR NEW MANUAL AND FF VI DISC
Spinal Tap sealed - $2 FOR SALE/TRADE

All in all a very good weekend. I spent ~$80 last year which was a new high, only spent ~$60 this year and was the first time in a few years I didn't get a console, although the Hyper Scan kind of counts. Unpictured is a Vince Carter Nets Swingman jersey I got at Champs for $23, it was 70% off since he has been traded. I also got a Kerry Kittles Nets jersey and an Antonio McDyess Knicks jersey that I got for $6 each at a consignment store.

Just to let New Yorkers know - you guys are some broke mother fuckers. 8% sales tax!? An additional 4% clothing tax!? I found some HD-DVDs at Burlington Coat Factory I was going to buy, but figured I would wait until I got back to VA to buy them since I would pay less tax. $7 is a tad high, but for new HD-DVDs I do not really mind.

Went for some out of town hunting today, picked up master of monsters and street fighter 2 special championship ed. for genesis 4 bucks each. Also picked up out of this world for snes at the same store for 5 bucks. Passed on a few things but I literally had no money and was only going to spend it on stuff I really wanted or needed. I took a chance on master of monsters, turns out its an R5.

I hit up the Hollywood Video promotion and found the following:

-Rainbow Six Vegas (360)-$5, This game was complete with instruction manual and original green Xbox case.
-GTA 4 (360)-$5, Only the disc and rental case.
-Excitetruck (Wii)-$5, Only the disc and rental case.
-Bioshock (360)-$5, Only the disc and rental case.

The RSV and GTA 4 are for some friends that wanted them. The Excitetruck and Bioshock are for my collection. They also had some other good titles. The only downside was that some of the games they had there were faded due to the sunlight.

What is a VS saturn?

The V-Saturn was manufactured by Victor/JVC. Hitachi also had an iteration of the Saturn on the market called the Hi-Saturn. According to Wiki, there was also a version manufactured by Samsung for the South Korean market. :wink 2:

That is definitely a nice find and for only $10, that's a steal and a half. :-D

eBay find - $128 PSP 2000 like new with AV, car charger, flip cover, and double UMD case. Did the Sampler Vol 1 come with this pack, or is that an odd little bonus?

I find it odd that it was at FW5.51. The listing said that the guy's father owned it, and he "buys the latest electronics and lets them sit in boxes, his addiction is your advantage." This isn't a recent model, so it must have been booted up recently to install 5.51. Everything was included, all packing and manuals, etc. AV cable was packed like it had never been removed, twisty-tie intact (not shown, it's on my retrogaming TV now).

At any rate, this is a HUGE upgrade over my original. Screen is pristine, all the buttons work (long story there...), both speakers work (yet another story...), and I love the size and construction. PS1 emulation over AV looks amazing, and I'm tempted to use it over my PSX. I use my PSP for PS1 emulation more than anything else anyway, so I'm happy.

Nice morning for me. The gun and everything to the left of it was from the first thrift I stopped at.
http://i707.photobucket.com/albums/ww75/evanwink42/Finds/finds170.jpg

Mario Kart 64 Hologram box: .60
Zelda MM, SSB, Harvest Moon 64: 3.80 ea.
Escape from Monkey Island: .80
FFIX disc 2 and also in the bag is Azure Dreams (is why I bought it): 1.40
DS Lite ac adapter: 2.95
SNES a/v: 2.95
aftermarket wireless NES light gun: 2.95 (had corroded batteries in it. Metal bits look okay, but there is a rattle in it... not yet tested)

Dark Sector: 2.51 after I used a $5 Blockbuster gift card. (I almost never go to Blockbuster, so just wanted to use it up)

Wheel of Fortune Jr. Ed.: 4.99 (pretty steep, but standard price at my GW. Been a while since I've added a game to my NES collection, so I splurged)

Chicken Run: 1.99 at savers (got it cause it is mint)

2600 G.I. Joe and Entombed: 1.99 ea. Overpaid at SA, I don't know my vcs rarities well enough
ActionMax Hydrosub 2021: 1.95 (first time i've seen one of these in the wild, this is a dupe, so if anyone wants it at cost you can have it).

Resident Evil Code: Veronica X (PS2) - 5th Anniv. edition with DMC bonus disc
Resident Evil Outbreak (PS2)
Fight Club (Xbox)
Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball (Xbox)
Amped 2 (xbox)
Street Sk8er 2 (PS1)
Syphon Filter (PS1)

All are in great shape and complete. And the great thing about hunting at Half Price Books is that you can also pick up:

Jimi Hendrix "Electric Ladyland" - original Reprise edition from 1968! In beautiful shape, but if it originally came with liner notes on the LP sleeves, they are gone replaced with plain white ones.

All of this stuff was under $25

Went to the Salvation Army thrift store today and picked up an extra TV to hook some retro consoles up to for ten bucks. Also picked up 2 Dreamcast games, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 1 and South Park Chef's Love Shack, $1.99 each. Also, was pretty happy to see a Rocko's Modern Life VHS so I got that as well for $.49.

http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y11/pezcore343/0715091600.jpg

I was a little disappointed at the Salvation Army because the VHS was the only thing I was excited about, so I decided to hit up another local thrift store. When I first walked in I saw a bunch of VHSs and a few DVDs so I started looking around when I stumbled upon My Neighbor Totoro on DVD for $1. That find made my day. Both discs look pristine and the case is in good shape too.

Meant to add some things I passed on, namely a crapload of Laserdiscs. I jotted down a bunch to see if my FiL would want some or if any are sought after. None were worth going back for (priced 1.95 to 10), but if I'm nearby again I'll check for the Star Wars.

Star Wars Trilogy Collector's Edition (all 3 in their separate cases, and 5 each)
Princess Bride
Close Encounters
2001
2010
Superman
Patton
Predator
Ghostbusters
The Crow
Nixon
Butch Cassidy...
Jurassic Park
Chinatown
Star Trek VI
Raiders ot Lost Ark
12 Monkeys
Aliens Special Widescreen Collector's
T2 Special Ed.
Abyss SE
Back to the Future II

Bunch of great movies. Kind of makes me wish I was into Laser Disc, but I'm just not.

They also had a TRS-80 Level II instructional tape set. Passed on a Yellow brick GB (play it loud, I presume) at 6.80. Green 1st party DC controller for 2.95 is one I probably should have picked up, but didn't.

Nice deal. Its always good when people have no idea what they are selling/giving away is worth. I got an Atari 800XL with about 30 games, diskette drive and all connections and an intellivision with about 10 games and all connections for 2 bucks at the flea market a couple years back. The 800XL also had a complete MULE game with it which is worth a ton. :D

Just picked these up tonight from a guy on Craigslist. He listed a few old computer games in the Free section so I figured I'd check them out.

King's Quest VI (Sierra)
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y11/pezcore343/0715092100.jpg

Not sure if it's complete (other than the box of course, which is missing) but it came with a bunch of things. Other than the 9 floppies, there was a brown pseudo leatherbound "Guidebook to the Land of the Green Isles", and a bunch of paperwork from Sierra. The most interesting one, I think, is a list of radio stations to which Sierra had sent "Girl in the Tower", which was apparently an in-game love song, along with phone numbers that you could call to request the song.

Leisure Suit Larry III
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y11/pezcore343/0715092101.jpg
This one also came without a box, but has a black and white manual called "Nontoonyt Tonight - Your Guide to the Island" along with the 4 floppies.

Phantasmagoria
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y11/pezcore343/0715092102.jpg

This one I was pretty excited about because I've been wanting to try this game for a few years now. I think this one is complete. It came in the case along with the manual and all 7 discs. I don't know if there is anything else that is supposed to be with it. The case is kind of interesting. It's a cardboard case, but inside it has sleeves like you would see in a CD binder. The manual and each disk has its own page in the sleeves.

That's the normal/only way the cds came afaik. I was blown away by this game when I first got it (I think it came with one of our IBM Aptivas; dad worked for IBM). I seem to remember being on the wrong end of a very sharp pendulum more often than not!

So is my copy a complete one? I wish games were still packaged this way, I've never been a big fan of jewel cases.

No, there was also a bigbox and manual. At least for the retail release. I don't think my Aptiva bundle had anything but the discs. Unfortunately, the nice CD holder probably caused people to throw out the box as unnecessary junk.

The most interesting one, I think, is a list of radio stations to which Sierra had sent "Girl in the Tower", which was apparently an in-game love song, along with phone numbers that you could call to request the song.

That song plays during the credits on the CD version. Throughout the game, it's Cassima's theme, though in instrumental arranged format. Talk about cheesy early 90s love-song pop (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kD5_aKUl4Vs)... Beautiful piano work, though.

Funny trivia - Sierra took flack from a lot of radio stations. People would call in after the promotion, or something like that. Personally, I don't think the song is really all that radio-friendly, it's a computer game theme for crying out loud! Not the smartest viral ad campaign, perhaps a few years too early.

You wouldn't get the lyrics from the floppy version, just the midi.

I started looking around when I stumbled upon My Neighbor Totoro on DVD for $1. That find made my day. Both discs look pristine and the case is in good shape too.

For a movie with very little in the way of plot or antagonist, it's actually pretty entertaining. Not one of my favorite Miyazaki films though.

Agreed, Totoro is definitely an entertaining movie though I personally prefer Miyazaki's other films such as Porco Rosso and Kiki's Delivery Service. :)

Found a few N64 games at GoodWill today, $1.06 each:

Donkey Kong 64
Super Mario 64 (player's choice, some label damage)
Gex 64

There's so much empty space on these, and they have to put the price stickers on the back label. Why? WHYYYYYYYY?????

And I'm having a HELL of a time finding BlazBlue (PS3). Stock shows that both places in the mall have it, so I'm gonna check that out tonight. I'm TRYING to get a REAL new copy, not gutted, but that might not be reasonable. GameStop is literally my only option here, nowhere else even stocks it. Today I checked K-Mart, WalMart, and Blockbuster. All the local GameStops show zero stock, or the only copy is on hold for someone else.

I could just get the 360 edition and be done with it, but I'm not paying for online, or dealing with that crappy D-Pad.

I've been having some good Atari finds lately. A few weeks ago I got a nice boxed 7800 complete with games for $25 (no shipping - local seller) then last week I picked up a nice 6-switch woodgrain Atari in perfect working condition for $7 and today:

Good working Vader unit with a Wico Command stick, some generic stick, 14 games (He Man being the best one) and the part I was happiest about - two remote control atari joysticks with the base. Haven't tried them yet since I don't have a 9 volt battery kicking around but they look great cosmetically. $15 for the whole lot

Also picked up seperately a Playstation Castlevania Symphony of the Night for $3

Oh yeah, forgot to mention that. ;) Okay, I just wanted to see if anyone was paying attention.

Found it at the same thrift as the rest of that stuff, so it was also $.60. Let's play a little game of "Guess which constantly derided 2600 game this loaner is."

I'm not well-informed about this sort of thing at all. Is a loaner like this considered a prototype, or is a loaner in its own category? It works, and I see no difference from the released game.

Yeah, that little guy is going to be handy (*cough*). Been wanting one for a while. It was $1 at a sale, but has remains of a price sticker from Urban Outfitters, where I'm sure they gouged the original buyer of it.

Yup, that's the one. Given how often I'm likely to find something like this, I think I'll make a new thread for it here (http://www.digitpress.com/forum/showthread.php?p=1587435#post1587435).

I just got back in from being out of state for a week and a half, so I thought I'd hit the thrifts today, see if anything good piled up while I was gone. Nope, nothing. I didn't find squat at all the thrifts I went to. I did stop at a new video game store in Grapevine Mills Mall called 3D Games, and bought Crypts of Chaos (Atari 2600, $2.99) and an Arcadia Supercharger (Atari 2600, $7.99) both loose. They didn't have any Supercharger games there unfortunately. I've got the Stella Gets A New Brain CD anyway. On the way home I stopped at a Movie Trading Company and picked up Beany Bopper and Dare Diver for the 2600, both loose, $1.99 each.

Usually $4-5 is my tipping point for picking up games that look remotely interesting. Finally found a non-GH Tekken and Toshinden. Also excited about Galactic Attack. I rarely find non-sports Saturn games in the wild.

That would have come in handy when I replaced my DS Lite power switch... I melted the plastic and now it clicks. Kinda neat and it works, but still. I'd like to have one of them someday.

Got my sealed copy of BlazBlue at the downstairs GameStop. Upstairs, they had a promotional poster, which of course I asked about before I asked if they had a copy. They just had the gutted copy, but they let me leave my name and number so they can give me the poster when it's done being displayed. Also got a poster-in-a-tube for [Prototype] when I asked if they had any BlazBlue artbooks. Also picked up that album for $3 in FYE, I've been in the mood for some acoustic guitar rock lately.

This is kind of an odd one but a find nonetheless. I was in Target and saw that the axe deodorant and body wash and stuff like that was on sale for 4 bucks for these double packs, so I picked up one of each. When I got home I realized that each pack had a sticker for 300 free Microsoft points. I decided to go back and get more since the price was good and I could use them for when I move back into my dorm anyway.

So in total I got 1200 free MS points.

Friday's finds:
http://ryaan1234.googlepages.com/Finds71709.jpg
Found all of the PS1 games in a pile on the ground at a sale. They were supposed to be $1 a piece but I offered $5 for the lot. It was accepted. I'm really quite happy about D :D

Thought I'd show off the Ukulele I found today. It was a whole $1. It's a kinda shabby "Melody" brand toy wooden Ukulele from the 60s. I just started to learn this instrument a month or two ago when I found a really nice one at a garage sale. I figured "Why not?". Anyways, I thought this Ukulele was kinda neat. It doesn't sound that good even when it's tuned lol.
