Has Ride hit rock bottom yet or was that $20 an isolated incident? I think most places have it down to $60.
I was surprised that it was down to 40 and then it was 50% off because they were closing. 40 is the lowest that I've seen it.

jcalder: was that a Rogers closing down? I scored a ton of games for 12.50 awhile back from one... I'm guessing you got the same deal.

Yeah, I can't speak for the rest of the country but they are closing all of them in Edmonton.

So last Tuesday, me and the majority of my family (my sisters, their children, and my brother in law - all visiting from Tennessee) went to go see my father, who is in El Cajon in a nursing home / hospital. After we saw him, we went to eat, and I went to the Hollywood Video that was closing across the street. I picked up the following items after a while:

http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j238/foxhack/DP/dp-2010-07-06a.jpg
Superhero, Castle Freak, Slaughter Studios, GameBox 1.0
Jigsaw, The Dark Half, Jack Brooks Monster Slayer, Chupacabra Terror

http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j238/foxhack/DP/dp-2010-07-06b.jpg
Chupacabra, Bloodstorm, Man-Thing
Bite Me!, Doll Graveyard, Masters of Horror: The Black Cat (with JEFFERY FUCKING COMBS)
Warhammer Online 60 day time card (old Gamecrazy stock, sealed)

http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j238/foxhack/DP/dp-2010-07-06c.jpg
3x Generation Nex Wireless pad sets, brand new

All for a total of $21 and change. Most of the movies are in -horrible- shape. I figure I can at least copy them to my computer and make backup DVD-Rs or something... for most.

I saw people take hundreds of movies out. The poor store was almost empty by the time I got there, but I still managed to get a bunch of decent (and not so decent, aheh) flicks. I love schlocky horror, what can I say. The pads are actually still sealed and will go up on eBay eventually (unless someone wants to buy them.) According to my sister, some guy had like $150 worth of DVDs... and he was still getting crap. If only I'd gotten there sooner...

Today's finds:

http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j238/foxhack/DP/dp-2010-07-07.jpg
The Simpsons CD was $1, unfortunately my eyes failed me and I didn't notice the huge circular scratch in the middle of it. So it won't rip right. :( The other CDs were $5 total. I'm happy to finally have a working copy of Bat Out Of Hell II: Bat Harder (my older one didn't rip right.) The Illustrator 9 Upgrade was $2.

In other news, I bought new shoes. But they suck because my favorite shoes aren't being made anymore. Boo to you, Payless Shoe Source!

Been ill the past few days after taking the weekend off to spend with family. Just one find, PlaySation Analog Joystick, $20.00...

http://www.classicplastic.net/digitalpress/finds/DP-Finds-2010-07-07(01).jpg

I love this freaking thing. I have a week and a half of vacation coming up so it'll be time to finally play through Colony Wars. The prime reason I've waited until now to play the games is I wanted to have this stick first. Also works great for Descent and Ace Combat 2.

Descent? That game is the official, undisputed king of zero-second motion sickness for me. When playing that particular game, said controller shall be dubbed "The Sick Sticks". (And yes, I watched Minority Report recently.)

Descent is my all time favorite PC game. The PlayStation port of the original and rework of the sequel are great as well. :) On the PS1 the left stick is forward / back movement and left / right roll. The right stick is left / right rolling yaw and up / down pitch. The hat switch controls up / down / left / right directional glide.

I had one of those wacky PS sticks at one point but I traded it in to the local store a while ago.

Found some goodies at Goodwill today. An original boxed Simon with instructions for 2.99, an Atari Flashback 2 with two working joysticks for 4.99, and a loose working 1998 GI Joe MOBAT tank for 2.99. The Simon didn't work on the first try, so I pulled the corroded battery contacts and am going to try to clean them.

yeah two fairbanks alaska finds in a row.

I picked up

Mario Party, Snowboard kids 2, and Call of Duty World At War (360 loose) for $10, Call of Duty was thrown in since it was disc only and pretty scratched...hope it works as it is the only Call of Duty I don't have and as long as it works I could care less if it has a case and booklet.

Also grabbed a lp picture frame for $6.50 from a thrift, now I only wish I had some of my cool lp's up here from storage as I have a few that'd look great framed.

Odd find today, I was walking into my local Best Buy and I saw a guy unloading old computers onto a trolley to take them in to be recycled. One that stood out was a Bondi iMac G3. Cost? Free, he said I could have it, they were going to get recycled anyway.

No mouse or keyboard, which sucks because I actually do not have a USB keyboard. All I have are PS/2. It boots up to a question mark, but at least it was free!

You can use an USB to PS2 adapter - it's cheap and easy to find.

A bigger problem is that it doesn't boot up all the way. You hear the chime, the screen turns on, you can hear the hard drive going, but it just shows a folder that alternates between the Finder logo and a question mark. I'll post this on an Apple help forum or something, maybe they can help.

It means it can't find a OS, so the system has no Operating system.

If you indeed have a Bondi system and it's the one I'm thinking of you have a system running a 233mhz processor and has a tray loading disk drive. Your OS options are limited to OS 8, OS 9, and OSX 10.1 I believe. I wouldn't do OSX 10 because it'll run terribly on that computer. Slot loading iMacs can do up to 10.4 but I don't think you have that one.

A couple of rummage and Goodwill finds today. Started the day with an snes lot from a Craigslist rummage:

http://img341.imageshack.us/img341/1146/snes.jpg

11 games, a game genie, mouse, and a super game boy….the snes didn’t have a power brick, so I asked about it. They couldn’t find one, but knocked the price from $25 to $15 before I could even start to haggle….sold!

At the next rummage, I picked up 6 complete PS2 and Gamecube titles for $2 each;

http://img3.imageshack.us/img3/5977/ssphr.jpg

Then at a Goodwill that will be moving soon and is having a 50% off everything sale, I got the following (discounted price shown):

Xbox360 Tetris Evolution (sealed) $4.99
Xbox DDR 2 $1.49
Gameboy Fall of the Foot Clan 49 cents
Gameboy Alien vs. Predator (damaged label) 49 cents

And then in the mail from Ebay, a piece of my childhood came back to me….the 1971 Kenner SSP Laker Special in limited edition green! It will go right between my Vertibird and the Strange Change machine that’s also soon to arrive…boys and their toys :)

Hit one of my favorite annual rummage sales. It didnt let me down. Got 2 really nice stereo receivers that Im thrilled with. One of them is an NAD brand, which you dont see often, the other is onkyo. Both have the books and remotes, another thing you dont often see.

Also picked up a bell and howell super 8mm projector in the box, and a cobra cb radio base station. The cobra was a complete shot in the dark, I still need to look it up.

Also got a James Brown 3 cd set in a collectors tin for $2.

The only gaming item I saw was an atari 2600 with about 10 games in a box, they said how about $15 and I said I would pass. The only game I saw that I wasnt sure on was called piece o cake, seems decently rare when I looked on my phone, but not enough to make me spend $15 for the lot.

Now tomorrow is my absolute favorite annual church sale of the past couple years. I always do well. Last year I had a whole car full I bought. If anyone remembers, which they probably wont but, this is the church sale that last year under a table I found a saturn system and around 15 cib mint games, all for $10.

15 PS A/V cables and 12 power cords, two broken PS2s, a broken Xbox and a network adapter for $40. From this guy who has a booth at the swap meet and buys storage lockers. These are my make kitsune jealous finds. These were from a church rummage. The frontpage 98 was inside the 2003 box in addition to 2003 as a bonus. It was $1 for that and $1 for the wow battlechest. I was surpised by how much frontpage goes for.

After I grabbed the battlechest some guy came up behind me and grabbed every other pc, I just laughed to myself, he was clearly a reseller, then he tried to talk me out of the battlechest, he was like oh warcraft, i think you need a cd key for that. I was like ok, thats why the cd key is probably in the box, lol. The other games were nothing great, deer hunters and other random stuff.

I did see about 2 copies of xp and a copy of office 2007. But the discs were marked not for retail sale and were in white sleeves so I passed, can you sell those not for retail sale versions?

Hah, I -just- sold a Frontpage upgrade. No need to make me jealous. XP I tend to avoid anything WOW related, since those are subscription games there's no way for me to tell if the keys are used or registered.

Having the older version of Frontpage will help out when it's time to sell it, dude. Congrats.

Now for the bad news: That copy of ZOE2 I got? Well, I told the guy who traded it to me that I can't accept the item in that condition and he doesn't seem to want to accept a return. God damnit.

Not the program, I don't know anything about it.

The company, however, will hit you with unlicensed software notices on eBay because they simply -will not let people sell their used copies of the program-.

--
From Goodwill... a Goodwill I hadn't been to before. They had some pretty cool stuff.

Genesis
--
Instruments of Chaos Starring Young Indiana Jones - $1 (complete) - okay game, nice whip controls but some annoying elements to the gameplay

PC (quite a variety of stuff, CD games from 1992 to 2006...)
--
Jewels of the Oracle - $2 (complete)
Battlegammon -$2 (jewelcase only) (a Backgammon game ripping off Battle Chess...)
Donald Duck: Goin' Quackers - $2 (jewelcase only) - quality platformer also on various consoles
Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego? Deluxe (1992) - $1 (disc in generic case only)
John Saul's Blackstone Chronicles - $2 (discs in generic dual jewel only) - good looking horror adventure game
Age of Mythology: Gold Edition - $2 (I have the base game, but not the addon... one of Ensemble's weaker games really, but still, worth it I think)
Bengal - $3 (jewelcase in slipcover only, but that's how it would sell - this is a budget Zuma clone)
Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds Saga - $2 (jewelcase only) (a collection of Star Wars: Galactic Battlegrounds and its expansion. It's an RTS that uses the Age of Empires II engine, and plays a lot like that game, but with Star Wars stuff instead. Really, this feels like a Star Wars AOE2 total conversion... the gameplay is pretty much identical.
Immortal Cities: Children of the Nile - $2 (jewelcase only) (the first city-building team from Tilted Mill, a studio founded by ex-Impressions staff (Impressions had pretty much created that genre with Caesar and its followups, of course). I've been interested in these games, but had never gotten them.)
American Conquest: Divided Nation - $2 (jewelcase only)

7/3
--
$10 for the three.

PenPen TriIceLon - Dreamcast - complete - Kind of fun, not that bad... simple, but that's fine sometimes.
Journey to Silius - NES - cart only - Great music, good game. From Sunsoft.
Star Soldier - NES - cart only - Why was this game not popular in the US? I can see why it did so well in Japan, this game is quite good...

7/4

From the flea market.

PC (all jewelcase only)
--
Extreme Assault - simple and fun 1997 action flight combat game. A DOS-only title, despite releasing in 1997. Looks decent and plays well in DOSBox, though.
Thunder Brigade - Okay tank action game with a hovertank. I've played some of this before, never quite liked the hovertank I guess... you have no gravity, but can't fly, just over over the terrain... it's kind of weird. Not a bad game, but the physics are odd.
Frogger - Not nearly as good as its sequel Frogger 2, or the ones after it, sadly. This game lives up to its reputation for being extremely hard, too... a little disappointing, I like Frogger 2 (DC) and the GC Frogger game I have.
Wing Commander: Privateer - A true classic! Disc in generic case only.

NES ($5 each, both cart only)
--
The Adventures of Lolo 2 - Good sequel to the original Lolo puzzle game. Great stuff.
The Legend of Zelda - I have it for GBA, but that was too cheap to refuse... dying battery though. Oh well, still worth it.

7/6
--
$8 for all five games. The first four are disc in generic case only.

Dynasty Warriors 3 - PS2 - I always wanted to try one of these.
Stuntman - PS2
Vexx - Xbox
Shadow the Hedgehog - Xbox
Wreckless: The Yakuza Missions - Xbox (complete)

Finally, I didn't buy them (yet), but at a Goodwill around here I saw something I don't think I have seen before... Memorex VIS discs. 17 titles, all in their original jewelcases, to be exact (No original boxes though). No VIS there, so who knows why they were all donated. The Memorex VIS isn't something I think I have seen in person... it's an awful, awful system by all accounts, with pretty much only edutainment stuff. And indeed, almost all of the discs were either young kids' games, encyclopedias, and things like that. Animal Encyclopedia, History Timeline, American Presidents, the astrology disc, Kid Fun (actually a kids' karoke disc), etc... only two of the 16 discs were games for people over the age of six, I think -- Links (a version of the PC golf game) and the graphic adventure game The Secret of Hosea Freeman. $2 each. I'm still not sure whether I should buy them... on the one hand the discs are almost all things I would never want to actually use, but on the other hand Memorex VIS stuff is quite rare and how often, exactly, will I see anything for the system? Just for the rarity (and number of titles) I'm somewhat tempted, for some reason... yeah, still not sure though. :)

Hit a few thrifts, pawn shops, and antique stores on the drive back down to Waco today. Found absolutely nothing, apart from a Super Mario Bros./Legend of Zelda cereal box for $4. I don't even know why I bought it, since I never liked Nintendo's mascot characters or games. It's folded flat, I'll end up filling it with bubble wrap to keep it's rectangular shape and put it on a shelf.

It's been a while since I went on "the hunt" but my sister asked if I wanted to go garage saling today and I said sure, why not? Not like I'd really find anything other than more clothes for my 3 month old. Boy was I wrong...

Turbografix-16 System: with box (has the Zonk "Holiday $69.99 with free game included" sticker plastered on the front. Included system (dirty but has port cover), controller and four games (complete): Keith Courage, Splatterhouse, TV Sports Football and Super Star Soldier.

Price for all: $0.50. Fifty. Cents. Don't know if it works yet but doing some research I read that a Genesis Model 1 P/S will work. My sister got this for me, so it circumvents the weird "I-can't-quite-remember-making-that-promise-but-ok" promise to my wife that I'd never buy a TG-16 again. My loving sis has been jonsing to get me a TG-16 for some time so this satisfied her personal hunt.

Couple hours later we hit up another sale that had the following loose N64 games:

Star Wars Episode 1 Racer
Goldeneye 007
Mortal Kombat 4
NBA Courtside 2 (has Blockbuster label on back)
F-1 World Grand Prix (BB label on back)
Army Men: Sarge's Heroes
Star Wars: Shadow of the Empire
Excitebike 64 (BB label on back)
WWF No Mercy (BB label on back)
Madden 2001 (BB label on back)

all in a bag with a bunch of Game Boy Advance manuals

$3 for all.

Gotta do these shopping hiatuses more often :)

Namco Museum DS (Complete) - 2

Thursday yardsale a few blocks from my place. A few DS games not marked but were $3 each when I asked. I only had 2 1s on me and they didn't have any change so they offered to take $2 because of this.

The Land Before Time: Big Water Adventure (PS1, Complete) - .25
Lego Star Wars: The Video Game (PS2, No Manual) - 1
Lego Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy (PS2, No Cover Insert) - 1
Backyard Football '09 (DS, No Manual) - 1

All asking price and cheap from one sale.

Frogger (PC, CIJ) - .25
2x NES Systems, 2x 1st Party NES Controllers, Zapper, AC Adaptor, A/V Cord, 13 NES Games, Game Boy Rechargeable Battery & Link Cable - 10

Frogger was found on a quarter table and the NES stuff was brought out when I asked about old video games. The guy mentioned how he was thinking about bringing it out and selling it for $10 and how everything out was only what was rounded up out of the garage so I was lucky that they didn't get past sorting and putting out anything past the garage as it was about noon when I got to this sale. I was thinking about trying my luck with offering $5 but instead offered the $10 he was thinking about asking since it's more then fair and he was nice enough to go in and round it up as he almost asked me to come back Saturday but had his kid watch over the sale while he went in and got the NES.

Mario Kart 64 (N64) - 1.50
Super Mario 64 (N64) - 1.50
Bill Walsh College Football (Sega CD, Complete) - 1

Stopped by The Salvation Army as I was passing by on my way home from yardsaling Friday. I usually only have a good find like this at the Salvation Army once a year or if I'm lucky two or three times a year and will find some weak to decent parting gifts a little more often. I always stop in whenever I'm passing by (about once a week) to have a look around, Bill Walsh was 50% off and I figured I'd save it for the case at least since the hinges are intact as it's been sitting around for many months. Final Fantasy XI was the only 360 game I saw in front of a few old PC games and the N64 games were actually found in the toy section.

The PS2 games were IAP from a church flea-craft-charity who knows what. I actually found the Game Gear stuff pretty late just sitting out in the open (was about 11:30). No price but when I brought it up the lady offered it for 3. Playstation system case was 2 but took a buck easily. Rounded up the Xbox controller and misc cords from a box with no prices and offered a buck. Playstation games were marked .50 each offerd a buck for four and meet in the middle.

SNES With Everything Needed And 5 Games, N64 With Everything Needed And 14 Games - 25

Stopped at an unadvertised sale and when I asked about video games the SNES & N64 were mentioned. Some family members rounded the stuff up but the owner had to run out so I went to a few other sales nearby and came back. Offerd to sell both for 30 I countered with 20 which was too low but I then suggested we meet in the middle which was agreed on.

Finds where pretty good for the week, even with a lack of sales due to possible rain (It did rain pretty heavy a few days ago).

At pawn shops:
- Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus (PlayStation. Complete in near mint condition): $5

This has been sitting on their shelf for several weeks when I decided to pick it up. I played Munch's Oddysee (sp?) a while back and though it wasn't too bad, so I decided to give one of the older games in the series a try.

At garage sales:
- An old Nintendo Adventure Book: $.05
- PSP (3000 model w\ AC adapter and 32MB Memory Stick Duo. Working, though a little rough around the edges): $20

After several mediocre garage sales (The first one I went to did have some PSX games, but somebody had already cherry-picked all the good titles; the most noteworthy of which being Ape Escape), I stumbled unto an unadvertised sale and decided to look. I saw boxes full of toys and such; stuff I remember from when I was a kid. Buried in one box was a Nintendo Adventure Book; it was a little beat-up compared to the other one I have, but for $.05, I wasn't complaining (I'm a sucker for odd things pertaining to Mario).

On my way out, they mention they had a PSP for sale. It was originally marked $35, which I didn't have enough on me. However, before I left, I walked back over and, just out of curiosity, I asked if they'd take $20 for the PSP. Surprisingly, they accepted, and I now once again have a PSP (It's a little beat-up, but it does work; it's screen is much nicer than the one on my old 1000 model, which I sold to my brother-in-law a few months ago).

Now, once I have a little more money on me, I think I'm going to get myself another copy of Gurumin (I may not have any of my PSP games anymore, nor did it come with a big enough Memory Stick to hold more than just save files, but at least my brother-in-law is letting me borrow his copy of Dissidia: Final Fantasy in the meantime. It's a game I intended on trying when I still had my previous PSP)

Yesterday I picked up Ocarina of Time N64 collectors edition cart for $4 from Goodwill. At this goodwill they also had a strange BLUE PS2 which i passed on, i went back this morning and bought it for $20 which included a controller. Turns out this ps2 is VERY rare! :) I also got XBOX Halo ed controller, N64 AV cable and N64 game shark all for about $8. About $32 total for all the above.

Today i picked up an insanely good and MASSIVE N64 and SNES mostly complete games lot. It was a bit of a drive at 1.5 hours each way with pretty bad traffic and gnarly city directions. But damn it was worth it! All of the N64 stuff from this score costed me about $225 total. This stuff is CHERRY MINT most of it being in like new condition! WOOHOO!!! I picked it up near Stanford university in california in a wealthy neighborhood. :)

Here are the photos. ENJOY! :D

PS - i will be selling most if not all of this stuff in the coming weeks... ;) Keep an eye on my ebay store! kevincal20 is my ebay name.

Thanks for the links but they are harder to fin in Puerto Rico. I just assume every town has one and I just ask "Donde esta el Pulguero?" There aren't many people looking for these things in my area but there are a lot of unfair sellers that check eBay and sell above those prices.

O_O

Okay, story time again!

I decided to spend my day at the local flea market today. I was hanging out with some antique dealer friends when a guy I knew (that sells games on occasion) walked up to me. He told me he had found a really valuable Atari game "Water-something". I asked him if it was "Waterworld" and he agreed. I told him that it was worth probably around $100 (without checking eBay, it was my estimate). He asked me what I'd give him and I honestly told him I'd give him $40-50, depending on it's condition and whether or not it has the box/manual. I usually buy games from this guy and he's given me deals in the past. $40 or $50 is a bit much (for me anyway), but I don't mind paying it for him on something like this. He said the price was fine and he led me to his van and pulled it out. I asked him if $40 was alright (being the cheapskate that I am). He told me to give him $45 and I countered by telling him no one else in the market would give him $40 for an old Atari game. He agreed and accepted $40. It's in niiiiice shape, with light scratching on the label (not bad at all).

The DS Lite was seen in the back corner of a game resaler's booth. I asked if he would sell it and he told me it was broken (No S***!). I said I might be able to fix it. He told me $7 and I countered with $5, which was accepted. The joint is broken, and the ribbon cable going to the top screen is split. I haven't charged it or anything. This is probably going to eBay, for parts/repair. The top of the top half is blue, the rest black.

Detail pic of Waterworld:

O_O

(and yes, I think I'm going to resale it on eBay. The label is in really great shape so I'm hoping for $100-125.)

Twisted Metal 2 (Complete) - 3

Dr Mario - 2
Krusty's Funhouse - 2
Tetris - 2
Final Fantasy Mystic Quest - 1

Atari 7800 With AC Adaptor, Bad Cord, 2x Controllers And 3 Games - $15

Twisted Metal 2 was from a regular and was IAP. The 7800's asking price was $15 and beside it was what was mostly 2600 games with a few 7800 games in the mix. Asked about the games hoping that they came with but were $2 each, pointed out the bad cord and the guy offered to throw in 2 games I picked out 3 and asked about that for $15 which was agreed on. I actually got Krusty's Funhouse out of a NES system with about a dozen games with it marked $50. The girl selling the games tried to call her boyfriend to try and find out how much he would sell it for, he didn't awnser and I said I'd give her $2 since I noticed some of the NES games marked $2 and she took it. On my way back I grabed the other 3 for $5 as she was asking.

http://img688.imageshack.us/img688/701/71110part2.th.jpg (http://img688.imageshack.us/i/71110part2.jpg/)

Mostly SNES stuff with some other misc stuff - 20

Saw the SNES and most of these SNES games in a plastic bag under this seller's table and the rest in a mess of stuff in a crate beside it. Picked up the bag and asked the kid who had to call the main guy, wanted $20 had to double check about the crate and that went with it so I paid and was on my way.

Unless that battlechest is sealed, it's garbage. The CD Key can only be used once. So the guy was right ;)

I finally got back from Kentucky, and with finds to boot.

First stop at the Louisville Book & Music Exchange yielded this:
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i168/kyle152006/SuikodenII.jpg

The shop had it priced at $79.99. But, I came armed with trade-bait.

-Ninja Gaiden Sigma (Got it cheap, bought the original soon after.) $7.50
-Disgaea (Extra.) $7.50
-Shenmue (missing the manual, extra as well.) $7.50

I paid $57.49 and was out the door! Everything in the case is mint save for one of the manual's creased pages.

These three came next.
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i168/kyle152006/KYFleaandGS.jpg

-Fire Emblem (complete) $8 from "The World's Most Awesome Flea Market"
-Syberia (complete) $5 from the same flea.
-Baten Kaitos (missing the manual) $5.99 at Gamestop.

I noticed this awesome thing on the counter at GS and asked if it was for sale. The clerk said no, but I could have it. YES!
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i168/kyle152006/SandPDisplay.jpg

Saved the best for last:
http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i168/kyle152006/TG16MallFind.jpg

I found it all in some guy's junk pile at the Radcliff Peddler's Mall. He said it wouldn't work without a "card thingie", so I could have it for $5.

$5

There isn't a power cord and the system is pretty dirty. (I couldn't beat the price though!)
I plan to test tomorrow with my personal system's AC adapter and eBay the bundle, save for the two controllers and unpictured controller extension cable.

Pretty sweet week if I do say so myself. :D

I have some wireless Doc's controllers for 64. They suck, half-second lag on all input. Anyone want to buy them? >_<

I don't know, maybe the Saturn ones are better. I'm guessing they take 3 AAAs each though, and that might not make them worth bothering with. I'd sooner buy some nice Saturn model 2 pads and extension cables than feed batteries to laggy controllers.
