Picked up the premium edition of Sakura Wars (PS2) for $29.99 today at one of the local gaming shops. I'm not really interested in playing the game, but I figured that I would grab it since it will probably be the last 'big' release game for the PS2. My gf and I also grabbed some movies:

Independance Day (5 star collection) - $6
Wall E (3-disc version) - $7
The Duchess - $3
The Queen - $4
Scarface (Laserdisc version) - $2

I picked up a bunch of gaming items on a local auction site. No photos yet (pick everything up tomorrow). Stacks of systems including 10 NES, 3 SNES, 2 Genesis, 1 PS1. Including a separate box of cables and another with controllers.

In the jumble of controllers and cables I count at least 12 NES controllers including a Max a Advantage and a "Dog Bone". 4 SNES controllers including a Super Advantage, 8 Gen controllers and at least 5 PS1 controllers.

I will take photos tomorrow after I sort everything out.

Not much this weekend; couldn't go out both days.

NES Knight Rider, Rescue: The Embassy Mission, Vice: Project Doom, Mechanized Attack, $5 for all
NES Pictionary, Adventures of Tom Sawyer, $3 for both

Wish Pictionary and Tom Sawyer didn't have that crappy marker on them (keep in mind this is after I cleaned them), but whatever. I didn't have them yet.

Got a Dragon Quest IX standee, unassembled, today for free. The trade off is I carried the thing home almost two miles. At least it was in the original shipping carton but the brisk breeze caught the box like a sail. Factor in the afternoon heat and, well, I didn't finish the walk nearly as optimistic as when I started. I can't complain though.

http://www.classicplastic.net/digitalpress/finds/DP-Finds-2010-07-12(01).jpg

It's pretty big. The back panel makes up the rear supports and base support, then the panel with the characters attaches to that (little bridging attachment panels not shown). The base panel makes a little platform and the logo panel attaches to the front with a couple of foam blocks. There are also a pair of trays (not pictured) that connect to the rear panel at the top left and right, which hold...

http://www.classicplastic.net/digitalpress/finds/DP-Finds-2010-07-12(02).jpg

...information booklets. This is the packet of information booklets that go in the little trays. There are also a few display back inserts to make up display boxes by using a standard DS case. The assembly instructions are in there as well.

Sadly it'll be packed back up in the shipping carton and put into storage (behind a dresser at my parent's house) since I simply don't have room for it right now.

Lot sale again, today I got:

Loose Game Cube microphone - $0.50

Atari Flashback 2 system only (with A/V, but no power supply) - $2... I wanna mod this one sooo bad with a cart slot, and do a Ben Heck style portable. I've got a 7" screen waiting for this.

Senario Vs. Maxx handheld controller system thing - $1.50 Yeah, I'm a sucker for these poorly made Chinese game things. I love how terrible they are LOL

Fat PS2 style multitap - $1

Yep, and that's it, suprise find was one of these (http://www.hydroponicsonline.com/store/K-E-Keuffel-Esser-Drafting-Tools-Germany-Tritractor_120566551781.html) in good shape with the case and everything. It was found at the bottom of a box of misc housewares LOL. There really aren't any on eBay, but something tells me it's worth a pretty penny.

Gotta catch up from a couple of decent finds this past weekend.

From an East-Texas smalltown Goodwill:

http://img199.imageshack.us/img199/9285/sam1790.jpg (http://img199.imageshack.us/i/sam1790.jpg/)

Pac-Man (NES) - Tengen unlicensed version formerly owned by "Grampa" $2
Paperboy (NES) - $2
Inglourious Basterds (Blu-Ray) - $5 (perfect and MINT)
Tron PopUp book - vintage and in decent shape - $1

Then went to the local Play N Trade to find a B1G1 1/2 off sale - picked up:

http://img199.imageshack.us/img199/20/sam1791.jpg (http://img199.imageshack.us/i/sam1791.jpg/)

Counter Force (Wee)
Onechanbara (Wee)
Asteroids Hyper 64 (N64)
Shadowgate 64 (N64)
Nuclear Strike 64 (N64)
War Gods (N64)
Zelda: Ocarina of Time (N64) - mint and complete
Yoshi's Story Manual (N64) - was stuck in the Z:OOT box. Bonus!
Cost of all was just about $45

Inglourious Basterds (Blu-Ray) - $5 (perfect and MINT)

!!! BONUS ALERT !!!
The included Downloadable Digital Copy form was still in the box and I just checked it out online - now I have a iTunes copy of the movie as well!
!!! End of Bonus Alert !!!

Why would someone buy a Blu Ray movie (which are normally for collectors or videophiles), then donate it to Goodwill (instead of reselling or taking to some place like Movie Trading Company), and not even download the FREE included digital copy? My spider-sense is telling me this movie just MIGHT have been stolen....

Might? :P

Anyway, I didn't really go hunt for stuff today, since we spent most of the day organizing my father's funeral. And yes, I didn't mention it here. But it'll be on Thursday and Friday.

So um. We went to mom's place and I hopped to the flea market while we were there, resting. I bought a Zone of the Enders 2 manual / case / inlay set for two bucks. Now I need the game, since I'll be returning the scratched copy to the GameTZ guy that sent me a beat up copy.

Could have been an unwanted gift or someone who ended up not liking the movie or from someone who doesn't use digital copies at all.

I don't understand why certain releases come with both the Blu Ray and DVD versions together. Why would people need both formats? It's like if films were released with both the VHS and Beta versions together in one package.

Blu-Ray still isn't widespread. Even if people do have a BD player, odds are that they have a DVD player in the other room. None of my friends have BD players, so I can't let them borrow movies on a format they can't play. My guess, though, is that it's cheaper to just have one product on the shelf instead of two, and it benefits the consumer,

Well, I've seen DVD/BD combo packs in the past, either in one disc (as a flipper) or two separate discs. Those are fine, I guess.

But Walmart in particular shrinkwraps two separate DVD / Bluray releases into one single retail item. And THAT pisses me off because I can't buy the DVD only.

Ain't that the truth. I have a few digital copies that are already expired. These are from Blu-rays that were purchased in the last 12-18 months. Star Trek and Watchmen to name a few.

I think I have the answer to this question. In car entertainment. Except for real ballers, no one has BR in their cars. So your kids can watch Ice Age 3 at home on your big ass TV on on their way to grandmas house on your Sienna. I doubt BR will ever become standard in vehicles as the screens are so little that it cannot benefit from it. It would be a senseless expense.

Long story short, when I was 11 or 12 a kid "borrowed" my copy of zelda for NES, shown me his penis a few weeks later, and we weren't friends anymore cause I told everyone.

Well now, I see on facebook that he found his NES and games, and I had a friend whose friends with him ask if he has zelda and is willing to sell it...He sent him a pic, and its the same cartridge, I can tell because theres a crack in the same place. I drove him to the house to pick up the game today, he sold it for $10.

I already have another copy of the game, i just think its cool to have the same one i had as a kid.

and about the blu-ray find at goodwill, I worked at goodwill up until last week. We got alot of donations from target (as did the whole chain) and we would occasionally get a blu-ray in, we once even got a blu-ray player.

Agreed, but I was thinking maybe they stole someone's entire blu ray library, kept the ones they wanted and just dumped the rest. You have to show an ID at MTC and places like that, so...well....who knows....

Heck I don't even care anymore.

I didn't find much yesterday after a day of thrifting, only found something good at a Movie Trading Company. Bought another loose T-Mek for the Sega 32X (the price was $2.99 on the sticker, but the bar code in their register was $14.99 because they'd changed the price but hadn't gotten around to re-marking the cartridge, so I got it for three bucks), and an Atari 7800 power adapter for $7.99. But the 7800 PSU isn't an original, it's a third-party apparently from www.atariguide.com. I'd heard that some company was creating new power supplies for the 7800, but I never thought I'd find one in the wild.

I also picked up an Etch-A-Sketch Animator, a little LCD electronic handheld from the mid-80s that you could create multiple screens of animation on. I never knew the Etch-A-Sketch went digital! $1.91.

I was going to pick up an import Mega Drive game at the Console Game Exchange store in Frisco. It was a Japanese title called Undeadline. Didn't look too text heavy, more like a shooter. But they wouldn't sell me the box, just the loose cart. He knew that their policy was bullshit, so he called the manager about it, and that guy refused to let me have the box. It's not like they'll get another copy of the game so they can keep the box as a shelf display like they do with all their loose Genny games. If I'm going to pay $20 for this game, it had better be complete. And ironically, the guy was talking to his friend earlier about how CGX stores don't make all that much money. Hmmmm, I wonder why?

Z0mg the board lives!

So last Wednesday was kind of weird.

http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j238/foxhack/DP/dp-2010-07-15a.jpg
Danny Elfman: Music For A Darkened Theater (has disc rot, is unrippable :( ) - $1
Thomas Newman & V/A: The Shawshank Redemption OST - $2
The Essential Jerry Reed - $1 (blind buy)
The Best of Village People - $1 (because my collection isn't manly enough!)
Joy Division: Substance 1977-1980 - $1
Crazy Rhythm Daddies! - S/T - $1 (blind buy)
Pink Floyd: Delicate Sound of Thunder - $2
Mixed-Up Mother Goose Deluxe soundtrack CD - $2 (already have the main program somewhere, I plan on selling both)
Garbage: beautifulgarbage - $2
Joey Kincer: Mega Man MIDI Collection Volume 1 (#28 of 250) - $2
Star Wars: Shadows Of The Empire soundtrack (already own this, but this is in better shape) - $1
Warcraft III Original Soundtrack (from Collector's Edition) - $1

http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j238/foxhack/DP/dp-2010-07-15b.jpg
Silent Hill (no manual) - $4
Rat Attack (complete near mint) - $1 o_O
Microsoft Office Student & Teacher 2003 case (no disc) - Free
Interstate '76 OST (from last weekend)

http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j238/foxhack/DP/dp-2010-07-15c.jpg
Packri Monster (boxed with foam, no manual) - $4
These things sell for like $25 on eBay, let's hope it works!

Oh yeah, this little thing too.

http://i81.photobucket.com/albums/j238/foxhack/DP/dp-2010-07-15d.jpg
Turbo Duo with A/V cable, two pads, multitap (no power supply though) - I'm not saying how much, but it was more than I'd usually pay (thank $deity my sister decided to give me $20 to spend for some reason!) I figured I'd take the risk. Once I find a compatible power supply and verify that the CD side works, I'll sell it.

Now.

That Mega Man CD is one of my weirdest finds ever. It's by this guy (http://www.kinless.com/megaman/), who claims to own the longest running Mega Man fansite on the internet. This CD (a CD-R, actually) is from 1999, and it's number 28 of 250. I wonder, who used to own it?

I found some decent stuff this past week:

Jazwares 10 inch Metal Sonic Figure for $19.99 (New) - I've been constantly checking my local Toys R Us for this figure. But the store never seemed to have it in stock. However, I went into a small independent toy store, and there he was! I haven't decided whether I'm going to take him out of the package yet.

Suikoden Tierkreis for $25.00 (Used, CIB) - This is the first time I've come across a used copy of this game. I'm about 12 hours in, and so far I really enjoying it.

Atelier Iris 2 for $29.99 (Used, CIB) - This is an ex-rental from a game shop, so the case was covered in stickers. But I switched cases with one my crappy games and now it looks decent. Unfortunately, the manual has some water damage on one corner.

One Piece: Unlimited Adventure for $12.99 (Used, CIB) - I picked this up because A) It supposedly rare, and B) it's an action/adventure game, which appeals to me more than the fighting games they released previously.

Pokemon Indigo League DVD Box Set 3 for $19.99 (Used, CIB) - This set contains the last 27 episodes of the Indigo League story arc. I consider the first couple of seasons to be the best. I stopped watching the series because the plots started becoming repetitive, and I hate the new voice actors.

Pokemon X: Ten Years of Pokemon for $1.99 (Used, CIB) - It's a music CD that has all the theme songs from seasons 1 through 9 of the US TV series.

Pokemon: Mewtwo Returns DVD for $2.99 (Used, CIB) - I've been slowly replacing my VHS copies of the Pokemon movies with the DVDs. This particular DVD has a interesting bonus feature called "The Uncut Story of Mewtwo's Birth". It explains a bit more back story about the scientist who created Mewtwo.

2010 DVD for $9.99 (New) - I've been waiting for the price to drop on this film. Even though I did enjoy this movie, I felt it wasn't worth the 30 bucks they were asking for it. Luckily, my local Blockbuster had an overstock of copies to get rid of, so they dumped them in their bargain bin.

Edit: I also picked up a new copy of Trauma Team for $30.00 at the EB Games Game Days sale.

I did the lot sale again today, and I'd like to say I found oodles of video games.

I didn't :(

I found a single speaker by a company I'd never heard of: Rectilinear Research. It was heavy, and looked interesting so I did some research. Seems they're some high-end late 60s audio company. There's no recognizable model # on back, and the speaker cabinet is beat up pretty bad. The mid, woofer, and tweeter are hot glued and screwed into the speaker cabinet. No deterioration to foam, so it seems okay. Sigh, seems like another "take the parts out of a beat up speaker and sell them" project.

Here goes my first post

Finds this week: Hit a couple of stores I haven't been to in awhile and started noticing alot of people have went up in prices. Went to a pawn shop that used to sell me games for a set rate $5 a pop, the more I bought the cheaper they would get. I dug through a box or two and picked out Ranger X, Castlevania Bloodlines for Genesis, SMW 3 for NES, and some other games. Then I heard the guy typing away at a computer, knowing that the $5 rate no longer applies I brace myself for whatever prices are about to be quoted. He comes back with Ebay prices, I quickly push them back and say no thank you. On my way out I noticed some Laserdisc players and happen to find a Pioneer Laseractive w/the sega module. $50 for the Laserdisc

Picked up a N64 for $30 bucks and traded it in for $33. So I made $3 and got these for free: Zelda - Ocarina of Time (non-gold version), Turok 2, Mario 64, 007, expansion pack, 3 memory cards, and a clear purple controller.

N64 games for $5: Donkey Kong 64 and Conker's Bad Fur Day

Yard Sale finds: Conkers Bad Fur Day Box, Perfect Dark box, and Southpark Box free. NES coxial cable with N64 connector on the end & Banjoo-Tooie guide for $2

Jet-Force Gemini guide $4

Laserdisc $23: The Godfather I & II, Full Metal Jacket, Platoon, Die Hard I & II, Silence of the Lambs, Steal the Sky, and Stargate.

I did the lot sale again today, and I'd like to say I found oodles of video games.

I didn't :(
What gets me is that Goodwills around your area have a lot of dock sales, and yet there aren't any stores around Dallas that do that as far as I know. A Goodwill I stopped at in Copperas Cove had signs up about some kind of bulk sale on Fridays and Saturdays on their dock, and I believe there was one in Harker Heights, TX that had something similar. Too bad I was down there on a Tuesday. I'd love to be able to hit some of those places if they weren't so far away. And if I did decide to drive all that way, I'd probably come back empty handed knowing my luck.

I went to the Harker Heights one once, and it was around half the size of the one I usually go to. I don't know about Copperas Cove but I heard that they do it in Austin and it runs like 9am to 10pm or something ridiculous like that, almost every day. And they keep on bringing more stuff in throughout the day.

Some items from the month.

http://img687.imageshack.us/img687/5708/dscf0714g.jpg

I don't remember all the prices but...

Deathsmiles, Agarest War, and Patapon (probably not that uncommon anymore but I don't like DLC so I got it) all at full coast

Top Loader was $20

Bioshock 2 was $10

Zack & wiki, persona (new), and PicrossDS (new) were $5 each

http://img84.imageshack.us/img84/8275/dscf0721a.jpg

SNES mini lot was $60 (that's added up from different sources)

N64 box was free

and the new 360 was $100 after finally finding a Game Stop with one in stock and trading in my old 360 for $200. I'm glad I found it, the day I went to reserve it after hearing about the trade in deal the guy told me that the night before they got an Email that said to not do anymore reserves on new 360s.

I got in on this too. I traded in a (2006, non-HDMI) 360, HDD, 3 extra controllers, wireless G adapter, and two memory cards and came away with $276.xx in credit. Considering everything that I traded in came from yard sales and cost me a total of about $60-$70, I made out like a bandit; plus I still had my Elite system at home to play on while I waited for the new one to come in. Another $49.xx when the system came in and the new 360 was mine.

And like you, I came to reserve mine on the last day of the promotion. The manager told me so and I thought that was pretty lucky since I almost put it off 'til the next day. Normally GS doesn't have very good trade-in promotions, but in this case it was pretty reasonable.

Long story short, when I was 11 or 12 a kid "borrowed" my copy of zelda for NES, shown me his penis a few weeks later, and we weren't friends anymore cause I told everyone.

That's how much I paid for a copy of Dracula X alone. I weep.

Ever since I've moved I haven't had a chance to do any hunting and it's starting to bug me, but it's too hot to walk, I don't know bus routes well enough and I don't have a car. So I need to wait it out. -_-

Doom (PS1, Compete)
Legend of Zelda, The: Twilight Princess (Wii, No Manual)
Mortal Kombat Armageddon (Wii, No Manual)
Resident Evil 2 (PS1, Complete)
Star Wars Knights of The Old Republic II: The Sith Lords (Xbox, No Manual)
Viva Pinata (360, I'm Pretty Sure It's Only Missing The Slip Cover)

9

Xbox 360 HDD (I'm guessing 20 Gigs) - 1

GBA SP Carrying Case with GBA Light & SP AC Adaptor - .50

Super Street Fighter II (Genesis, Boxed) - 1
Pac-Man Handheld - .50

Top Secret Passwords Player's Guide - .50

I don't know what they wanted for PS1 games (I'm guessing a buck each) but last gen games were marked 3 each and current gen 5 each. I didn't think it would work but boldly offered $10 for what I got then asked about the missing manuals. I figured I might get everything for $15ish if they were serious about getting rid of the stuff but the lady said they weren't her's then figured it up and said how about 9? I guess she figured she could come down to 2 each for current gen and a buck for the rest.

After looking around at one sale I noticed the 360 HDD in a plastic tote the lady reached into to get a plastic bag for another buyer asked if it was for sale and took a buck for it. Offered .50 for the GBA stuff and ended up taking it if I got some lemonade for .50 also lol. The next 2 items from the same sale and IAP and the Nintendo book for IAP from the last sale of the day.

Yea, that was the most expensive one out of the lot at a whole $10 the funny thing is I got it from a re-seller all I can think of, is he looked it up as Super Castlevania.

I was going to check out a new outdoor flea market but it was raining most of the day so after it let up I went to some thrifts and all I got was a NIB Ereader for $3.

Also stopped by the last Movie Gallery here and got a NIB DOA Ultimate collector's ed. for $3, 10 DVDs for $7, 4 Blu-rays for $4

They retail around $130, sell on eBay at back-to-school time (both college and high school) for $30-50.

Goodwill is so strange about these. Sometimes I see them in their case for crazy prices, sometimes they end up in the electronics for $5 or less, depends on who is doing the pricing I guess.

(This reminds me that I have a whole stack of 81-85 calcs I need to get on eBay, and a single 89 with a blemished screen.)

Bad Dudes/Ninja Gaiden on 5 1/4" and 3 1/2" floppies (whee!) $0.75 each from a thrift (really good shape, but no way I can run them)
Swat force $0.25 Yard sale
3 xbox games, eternal darkness, and wireless 360 controller $8 total from yardsale
Spyro 2 and 3 $2 each thrift store (they had the first one too, but just loose, so I passed)
QOTSA CD $3 thrift store (more than I'd pay for a used CD, but this is an album of theirs I don't have, it's the limited edition, and it's a genuine %100 charity store, so a great price to me!)
Warioland $10 EB Games (was the "game of the day") went in to pick it up, and also bought Hammerin Hero for $12 Used
11th Hour PC $2 thrift

Tetris Plus and Gameboy Gallery 2 came from eBay for a total of $16. I had been bidding (and losing) on loose carts of the english version of Tetris Plus, but came across a complete JP copy with a BIN that was cheaper than what the loose carts went for. :D Nice!

Mighty Final Fight was a dumb luck find; I found it at a Play N' Trade, coated with old stickers over the label, for a mere $5. Keep in mind, this is the same store that keeps a cart only copy of Metroid behind glass with a $80 price tag. It took a while, but I got the ancient stickers off. Sadly, it appears that the top label had been torn in the past... once I got the sticker covering the top off, I found it read "Mighty Final Fi ht". *L*
Still, it's worth the five bucks. The game is absolutely hilarious, and I think I'm enjoying it a lot more than the arcade and SNES games.

DAMMIT! This is what happens when I find a copy of SQ: Waterworld LOL

Just kidding! Nice find!

I was (more) tired (than usual) this morning, so I decided to skip garage sales. There were a few in town so this afternoon I stopped by one near home. I rescued a copy of Rayman 2: The Great Escape (PSX) for $2. I love this game, and I've been wanting the PSX version so I can play it on my HD TV with my PS2 >_> The case is a little beat up, but the disc is in like mint condition :)

Today's finds:

DDR Mario Mix case + inlay + manual - no game - $1
Silent Hill 4: The Room (PS2, near mint) - $8
Star Trek: Borg (PC, complete) - $5

Yay, all I need now is a disc only copy of that DDR Mario game and I'll have a full package. (I already have the pad and the big box). I originally bought SH4 to resell... but it's not really worth that much. So I'm probably going to keep it.

And I bought Borg because Spoony reviewed it and I figured it would be worth something. It isn't. Fuck. :P

Found a boxed, mostly complete SNES Super Scope at my local goodwill last week for 4.99. Hardly ever see boxed SNES anything, and any time I see the scope, that's all there is, just the scope. This one had the scope, the sight, the receiver (yellowed, natch), the styrofoam tray and the cardboard cover/lid for the tray. Probably have the cart somewhere, so I all I would need would be the instructions.

Not really a "find", but a decent day at the GameStop B2G1 sale. I had to look online to try to find three games that I wanted at the same shop and when I did, I headed out.

I went to pick up God Of War III, Tatsunoku vs. Capcom, and Super Mario Galaxy 2. When I got to the store, no Tat v. Cap to be found :( so I grabbed these instead:

Super Mario Galaxy 2 - $44.99
God of War 2 - $44.99
Mag - $39.99

After B2G1 discount and Edge card, the total was around $80.98, but I had a few old gift cards with small amounts on them so my total out of pocket for these three games was a whopping $26.22!

I'm going to give Mag a try this week, and I have 7 days to return it/exchange it if I don't like it. Tat. v. Cap. is $39.99 as well, so a easy swap if I don't end up caring for Mag much. But, I think I will :D

For the most part, you're lucky to have found a bare unit in the past. I've been looking for a Super Scope since I started collecting, and the most I've ever seen is the receiver and Super Scope 6.
