I went to one store today, and they had a few games left that I wanted (GBA RPGs)...and they said they wouldn't offer the $5 deal as the sale HAS NOT STARTED YET. I guess they were selling them but were told from corporate or some crap I don't remember that they are aware of this 'mistake' and aren't doing this for now. The sale starts tomorrow? Or next week? From what the guy said, it sounded like he was saying it starts tomorrow.
I just want to pick up certain titles but of course they are all gone. Wipeout, X7, Castlevania, Disgeia, Viewtiful, Wild Arms 3, Lunar Legend, etc etc...

All I found today was Wipeout Fusion and the Universal Studios game.
I'm hoping some will get restocked when the sale is actually supposed to happen!!

I hate you all  :(
I'm going back to that store on the 11th, and if they don't have the games there, they are getting reported to the Better Business Bureau and CC home office. That f***king place is going to be closed down when I'm done with them.
seconded. f*ckers locked them all up.

Well I went out to my local Circuit City and went a lookin with my wife and my baby boy, he didn't care too much for CC though lol
Wife looked at Xbox titles while I took PS2 and GC this is what we came out with
First went and looked and found 2 copies of REZ!!!!!!
brought them up to the counter asked if they came up on sale
Serious the guy looks at me after scanning and says what should they have come up I said 4.99 his eyes bugged out @_@
We then traveled to the local library to get online and look at the list
Well after spending 40 minutes writing every damn title lol we were off again
Came back and I started sifting through the games they were all on the shelves now looking thru my list after picking up about 5 one the guys comes over and asks if I need help LOL I responded no just looking
Here is what we got
Ps2
REZ!!!!! 2 copies

Smiled all the way out the door and home :D
Sweet Haul for us
Do you guys know if they are getting more game shipments for the 11th sale?

Went back for a second dip today and the place was almost completely barren of applicable games. I did manage to locate:
Duke Nukem Advance
Mega Man Zero
I wanted those, so I was happy. Yesterday, I had been a little annoyed by all the people taking numerous copies of titles away, leaving very few for the folks who just wanted one copy each of the games they actually wanted to play (ie: me vs the 10000 copies of Viewtiful Joe dude, etc). Today. it's no biggie though, since I figure I can score whatever else I wanted via the flooded ePay or just go pricematching when a printed sale comes out. This sale = fun.

Went again yesterday afternoon, and saw the employees stocking up on the games as they were putting them into the bin... Managed to get Yanya Caballista for PS2. Went again this morning, and EVERYTHING was gone, except for the GBA titles, which were still on the shelves. Not sure if they were 5.00 yet, but I will pick up Final Fight One if it is still avavilable on payday.
EDIT: My brother picked up 5!!!! copies of Marvel vs Capcom 2 that day. Should of held onto them until today.

I have a most excellent plan.
Now, we're all hoping for he circular to come out, and then we pricematch it like crazy. However, D_N_G brought up a good point - in limited space, CC won't list every game - they just can't. So how do we get our pricematch?
Simple. Get our receipts. Now you have proof of purchase at $4.99. But you already bought these games...
But I didn't. And odds on, 90% of the boards didn't. So, we swap. If everyone who's clocked in here submits a receipt scan, I'd think we'd have 95% of the games covered. We simply run over to every store who pricematchs, and go to town.
I'll gladly compile, just find me on AIM (portnoyc8x) or email them to port@segasaturn.org or portnoyd@gmail.com. Be sure to mark out any personal info you wouldn't want anyone else to see.
Any flaws in this plan? I mean, a flyer vs a receipt copy? Does anyone think they wouldn't take it as proof of lower price? Maybe get you on the 'it's clearly clearance BS'?

Wow. This is working out nicer than I ever could have imagined. I don't care much for the fact that some people are hoarding these games in an attempt to resell them on eBay, but people are greedy by nature and some lack the decency to overcome that instinct.
Anyway, on to some updates:
- More games may be marked down as this goes on. I know for a fact that as of yesterday, Gladius (Xbox) was ringing up $29.99, but today a guy had me pricecheck it and it rang up at the new $4.99 price. What does this mean? I don't know, but hopefully it means the Dynasty Warriors 4 I have stashed away will drop to $5 soon.
- The status of these titles being replenished is still unknown. I will know for a fact tomorrow whether or not we are getting anymroe of these titles in, as Tuesday is our biggest day for shipments (being new release day and all) and we'll have an assload of boxes to put out tomorrow. Your best bet is to call your CC tomorrow and ask one of the employees.
- Also, thought I'd mention this: be nice to the employees at your CC. So far this hasn't been a problem at all, although to my credit, I've been extremely helpful to all who have come in my store looking for things. Being an asshole to the employees will probably get you worse service in return. Also, don't hoard like an asshole. Moral issues rather than updates, but important in my eyes, nonetheless.
Also, thanks for all the....uh....thanks! Good luck hunting.

Sounds good! I'm trying to keep an up-to-date list myself (based off Richter's post) for copying over to a few places in LJ when the time comes.
I think next shipment is supposed to replenish for the real sale on Sunday from what a friend told me, I'll find out for sure.

I went yesterday looking for Shining Soul, as I'd seen multiple copies there no less then a week ago. Course now they were sold out. Dammit.
But I picked up Okage instead, which I'd been eyeing for awhile, there's always like 10 copies in the discount bin but the price tag had stayed at $30 for a long time so I was never sure of the price.

is anyone else wondering how cc came up with $4.99? I'm sure we still would have gone out to find games at $9.99 or even a 50% off sale. Of course I'm not complaining as I got a chance to pick up games I normally wouldn't have. Just seems like there is no way they can be making any money on this.

Goodwillhunter, since we are both in Milwaukee, and I couldn't find a Dark Cloud 2, we could trade if you're interested and you have more than one Dark Cloud 2...I got duplicates of PN03 and Mega Man X7 and Mobile Light Force 2 shrinkwrapped, if you're interested in one of them and willing to trade for a Dark Cloud 2 contact me, ok?
BTw, nice finds :)....you were a bit more successful than me, in particular regarding Disgaea (got it though for the outrageous price of $50 a couple of months ago :)
Sorry, but Disgaea and Shining Soul were the only ones I got doubles of...alll the rest are going right into the collection. I hit the Southridge and Brookfield CCs on Saturday night, and kind of lucked out at Northridge Sunday morning. The CC website lists them as opening at 11:00 am on Sunday. I gave myself 45 minutes to get there, and with no traffic on the 4th, got there at 10:45. Almost crapped myself when I saw on the door that they in fact open at 10 on Sundays!
No problem, I actually like it that you didn't hoard ten Dark Clouds. :)
I was at Southridge on Sunday morning at 11:15 and I noticed too that they actaully open at ten already!! I was at Brookfield on Saturday evening, and there was no run at the games, but already on Sunday morning there were a lot of guys hunting. :) I got still lucky with the games I got.
The only duplicates I bought were MMX7 and PN03 on Saturday evening, but when I left there were at least four or five still of each there. I didn't expect that these games were so much so fast in high demand. Otherwise I just bought one of each I really wanted. I don't like it when people hoard games for ebay. In this regard, ebay really messed it up, although I can understand that guys wanna sustain their hobby; but I think honesty, politeness, and consideration for others should come first.
It was (and is) a GREAT sale, five bucks for current games, among them gems; it was really adrenaline pumping to get there, look around, get games, and watch the face of the cashier when everything rang up for five dollars.
About the CC employees: I have and had only very good experiences with game store employees, including CC at the weekend. Nice, great, helpful guys. The guys at my local Gamestop helped me out more than once, I can't complain at all.

Actually, another interesting tidbit I heard at work today:
Apparently doing a pullback (sending back to the warehouse/manufacturer) on these games would have netted $4.85 each, so I guess they figured to cut their losses and end up $0.14 cents ahead on every title, which adds up over time. They're still losing much of the initial investment, but it's a little better than sending them all back. Also, that means the games you guys have been paying $4.99 for....I can get for $4.85! Of course, I usually don't take the time to hunt down a manager to save $0.14 a game, I get someone else to ring me up.

Well, I had to work the entire 4th of July weekend, and nearly missed this sale. I went to a local CC tonight around 6pm and saw people diving into the 4.99 bin. I scoured the bin for Gamecube titles, and found quite a few. I brought them up the the register and only 3 out of the 8 I grabbed rang at the 4.99. They tell me to go to customer service, and the snotty manager bitch told me that perhaps a customer put those titles in the bin. I asked her why MULTIPLE titles of these games were there then, and she had no response but that the sign stating 4.99 should not have been there. Not my problem, but she wouldn't give me the other titles for that price. I am calling the manager about this tomorrow however. Like I said, it is not MY fault that the employees threw a slew of 14.99-29.99 games in that bin, and to top it off she was just so damn nasty with me when I tried to explain that point. Well, I got:
Tiger Woods 2003 (scratched, going back tomorrow)
Bad Mother Truckers
MX Superfly
All crap basically, but for $5 a game I said what the hell. Just wished I got the Super Monkey Ball, Luigi's Mansion, and the other goodies that came out of that bin for the $5.

Good ol' circuit city. They seem to have these kinda sales a lot. The games I've noticed rarely ever scan at the tagged price but it's not like us at best buy who can change the tags out whenever the price goes down or up. Gotta love it =D.
Been a fun sale. Too bad I leave for vacation on the 11th or I'd go looking for more.

All CC stores are supposed to get the official list TOMORROW (Tuesday, today technically on my time). This means that anything they put in a bin is just fucking stupid on their part. Also, all the $4.99 games, once the sale officially starts, are supposed to be taken out of their cases, making it easier to see what is and isn't on sale. I would completely argue with the manager about your situation though. Mistakes are mistakes, regardless of who is at fault, and while she may not be able to buckle on her stance there, she should also have her employees trained better than a bunch of bed-wetting monkeys not to start things until they're supposed to. I would ask for the DM's number if I were you. The DM seems to strike fear in even the most intimidating managers.

Ok,
Took a look, and entered all of my purchases into my inventory spreadsheet, and looks like I bought a couple that I already had.
You'll notice that I only bought 2 of one game intentionally - no hoarding here.
However, I would like to offer up the following for even trade:
PS2
Dark Cloud 2
Ninja Assault
XBOX
Aliens versus Predator: Extinction
Gamecube
Dragon's Lair 3D
Resident Evil Code: Veronica X
Here's what I'm looking for:
Gamecube
Mario Party 4
Outlaw Golf
Red Faction II
Tetris Worlds
Viewtiful Joe
PN O3
Mega Man: Battle Network
Mega Man Network Transmission
Gauntlet: Dark Legacy
XBOX
Panzer Dragoon Orta
Robin Hood: Defender of the Crown
Secret Weapons Over Normandy
SWAT
Vexx
PS2
Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter
Capcom vs. SNK 2
Mega Man 7
Street Fighter EX3
Silpheed
ZOE: 2nd Runner
Mostly looking for the Gamecube games, but will trade even for any of these games - SEALED, of course.
Just send me a message!
Thanks,
Steve

Also, Hellvin, I would say that the lack of proper markdowns on games and such is as much the management's fault as it is the employees. Strike one, they don't train you really well enough to be able to know where and how to access markdown sheets (I was there for months before I learned, and the guy over that section didn't print them out that often). Strike two, the pricetag guns they give us absolutely fucking blow. I swear, half of the equipment in that store (registers, scanning guns, signature pads, monitors, etc.), given a few more months, could easily qualify as antiques.

When I got my bunch of games, Mojo for the Xbox rang up $19.99. Since I suspected that there are more games on sale than the first lists indicated, I went to the CC website before I went to CC, and wrote down the games for $5, among them Mojo. The cashier changed without hesitation the price to $4.99.
The second CC I went to had already most of the GC games on sale marked $4.99, not however the PS2 games and XBOX games.

Me and a friend are going to go to Best Buy Tuesday with my CC receipts and see what we can get. If it does, I'll scan my receipts and post them here.
I hate how best buy just doesn't really give a fuck about the equipment we use....the telxons and the printers they give us BLOW. Then I get yelled at because the printer won't print god damn tags or the telxon won't add multiple tags to the god damn signbatch and it prints me out just one tag for every game I spent 30 minutes scanning. ARG
But I noticed at circuit city you guys just have a large tag on the actual game and don't really see how it's possible for you all to do price changes on that other than to pull the game out the case and peel the sticker then put on a new one unlike best buy where you can just retag the little cards we have. So many times in the past I've gotten games off 4.99 or 14.99 lists like this occasion and the employes are like WHOOOOAAA with a googley eyed face at the price it scanned at.
Sigh...wish I found copies of Devil May Cry 2, Megaman Zero 1 & 2, Megaman & Bass and RE: Code Veronica. Perhaps I shall try a CC in Aneheim if I can find one on Sunday.

Just a note for those looking for those $4.99 games, I figured it's not worth it at all driving up to CC now ($15 gas money) when I just got Beach Spikers for $10.00, other titles like Evolution Worlds are going for $8, makes no sense at all buying and resell at on eBay.

Luigi's Mansion wasn't 5 bucks at my store either.
No Best Buy here, but both Walmart and Target do price match right? I'll be swinging over there Sunday - possibly Saturday if I can get an early edition of the Sunday papers.

well at the off chance that they do restock I have a question for everyone. I like to think everyone here plays the games they buy. I'm sure many of us picked up games we wouldn't normally if they weren't $4.99.
What games did you pick up just to try but turned out to be a lot of fun?
for me it was Frequency
I thought Maximo was a bit of a disapointment. I'm going to give a few more tries but I haven't found it that fun yet.

Once I open em, I'll be able to answer that question, hehe.
Personally if I had to guess it would be mega man x7 and dark cloud 2.
I thought that the whole 3dish evolution of mega man x7 would cause it to suck not only considering the fact I have not enjoyed the later evolutions of the x series. Dark Cloud 2 just never interested me in the slightest but an rpg for 5 bucks, why not?

Well, I went earlier this evening to the one in Tacoma, and it was a complete, absolute bust. :/ Not a SINGLE game I was interested in. There was nothing but a bin with a meager number of crappy games.
I think a big part of the problem was that the guy there was TOO nice. As soon as I got in the store and started browsing in the game area, the guy came up and told me that there was a bin of 4.99 games. He already had a list from the 'net printed out, and they had pulled everything they knew was 4.99 for the bin. If they told every person who came into the store about the sale, it's no surprise that it's been totally cleaned out (not to mention all the deal hounds online who must've rushed to buy every copy of every decent game as soon as they found out).
I guess I'm shit out of luck. The next closest Circuit City around here is in Federal Way, and I have no idea where it is, so I'm not going to drag my mom out there or take the bus. I always seem to get the shaft with this kind of stuff. I think I'm destined to always miss out on these kind of sales, only able to get so-so finds, and get screwed over on eBay. I think it's God's way of telling me I'm poor and shouldn't be spending more money. :/

well you can still hold out hope for a restock but the chances of that might be slim. sitll on the plus side so many people are dumping their stuff on Ebay that many games aren't going for more than $10 +shipping

when i went to the manchester CC there were a lot of people there with lists, but no one was greedy and we compaired lists and stuff. the 2 employees even price scanned the games we had to make sure they were really $5, and they even made photocopies of the lists. If it wasnt for someone who let the employee copy their list (the exact list richter posted) i wouldnt have known about the GBA games.
also i could have bought a lot more than i did (they had quite a bit of games left even with all the people. no really great ones, but not all crap) but i just got what i wanted.

I went yesterday to a semi-rural CC and scored a very nice haul. I'm glad I went when I did, because I ended up competing with about six others...all of whom were talking about finding a list on the Internet (none mentioned DP or CAG by name). Unfortunately the big ones were already gone, but I got most of what I wanted all for $5:
GBA:
Boktai
Duke Nukem Advance
Sim City 2000
GCN:
Bomberman Generation
Dead to Rights
Evolution Worlds
James Bond 007 in Agent Under Fire
Pikmin
Rocky
The Sims
Xbox:
Star Wars Starfighter: SE
Syberia
PS2:
Breath of Fire: DQ
Deus Ex: The Conspiracy
Futurama
Headhunter
Legaia 2
Maximo
No One Lives Forever
Ring of Red
Robin Hood: Defender of the Crown
Ty the Tasmanian Tiger
At that point I reached my spending limit, so I called it a day (passing up several more I was interested in). All of those are one copy each, and only games I'm genuinely interested in playing as I figured eBay would be flooded with these as it has been. Most are tradeable though since it'll be years before i get to them all, in particular for Disgaea, Dark Cloud 2, Viewtiful Joe, Skies of Arcadia Legends, Pirates of the Caribbean (Xbox), or any other RPGs.

Will the actual sale go on now? The sale wasn't suppose to start yet, but the prices got logged into the computer. I am wondering if they said screw it that was the sale or it will still go on. If it still goes on I could see them re-stocking some games. :-P

Maybe get you on the 'it's clearly clearance BS'?
dave
This is a *really* good idea. Anybody try it yet to see if it works? I think I heard some of the CAG's were gonna try it but I don't know what happened. Me and a friend are going to go to Best Buy Tuesday with my CC receipts and see what we can get. If it does, I'll scan my receipts and post them here. The ones I have got some good stuff on it like Viewtiful Joe, Lufia, DOA Volleyball, Code Veronica (GC) and a bunch more. I'll keep you guys posted....
Here's the potential flaw, FWIW:
Many stores will only price match if other local stores have the item IN STOCK.
Also, as an aside, some stores will also decide not to honor the price match under extenuating circumstances, e.g., when SW Attack of the Clones came out, Toys R Us sold it for like $9 or something. Other stores (CC included) flat out refused to price match.

We stooped by the CC last night, list in hand, ready to do some damage. just a quick glance for titles we knew were on the list was all we needed to tell us the games were gone. So I picked up Konami Collector Series Arcade for the GBA and Viewtiful Joe for the GC. I had to "sweet talk" one of the associates into getting the VJ game for me. She said word had leaked about the sale and the computer problem so they were holding the rest of the games in the back.

Robotech: Battlecry

GC
Dragon's Lair 3d
GBA
Boktai

I already have Boktai, so if anyone wants it and would like to swap one of the GBA mega man games (except battle network 3), or perhaps Mega Man X7 or Network Transmission, just shoot me an email or PM.

Well, that's why go now before it's 'official' and in the weekly flyer. And that's why you go for the speds (no offense to anyone on the register.. or offended by the word speds... the register monkeys at my local BB are DEFINITELY speds) when you pricematch, as they just want to get rid of you and will do whatever.
This will be total YMMV. You may go at one time, and get shot down - but 6 hours later on a different shift - paydirt!
As far as in stock, well, careful bullshitting and social skills should be able to pwn anyone in your way as far as that goes.
So now, armed with Richter's receipts, and my own, I will put my plan into action. TO GRATE SAVINGS!

"Mine had nothing yesterday. No sign of it either. I'll be going back on Sunday anyway, but I fear I missed out this time."
Take a printed out list. Most don't have 4.99 stickers on them. 2 of 3 Circuit Cities I went to had bins with them marked. The other didn't. One of them that had the bin of them, also had lots that on the shelves that were on the list but not marked down. Just because you don't see any 4.99 games don't mean they are not there. Take a list and scan the shelves. Good luck!!

A very important thing to note: Some of the games on the list that aren't ringing up at their proper price may have a "value game" sticker on them and also check the original upc on the game's packaging (on the top for ps2, as well as the regular upc on the back on all 3). These 9/10th's of the time won't ring out at the sale price. i got lucky with Mad Maestro and that's it. Despite the fact these games are no different from the non "value game" stickered versions, they won't ring up any cheaper usually. Whoever made this "value game" decision at corporate should be hung by their balls.
Also, replenishment of stock is highly, highly doubtful. A memo sent out today on our intranet's store updates noted that there would be "no replinishment from Lousisville (main warehouse I guess?)."
Also we got the official list today, but it only listed the games that we had in our store that were part of the promotion, meaning that if we didn't have it in stock, it didn't show up on our list. So that means that basically, every CC is going to have a different list as stock varies from store to store.

Yep,
I couldn't stay away. In fact, I didn't even try. LOL
So, two stores, a little bit of instinct, and here's the next batch of games that I've added to my collection, most of which will never be played...
XBOX: (14)
Dynasty Warriors 3
High Heat: Major League Baseball
Kabuki Warriors
MLB Slugfest 2003
MLB Slugfest 20-04
Nascar Thunder 2003
NBA Live 2003
New Legends
RLH (Run Like Hell)
Sega Sports: NCAA College Basketball 2K3
Sega Sports: NHL 2K3
Sega Sports: World Series Baseball
Triple Play 2002
UFC: Tapout 2
PS2: (3)
Nascar: Dirt to Daytona
NHL Hitz 2003
Sega Sports: Tennis
Gamecube: (7)
Batman: Dark Tomorrow
Beyblade V-Force: Super Tournament Battle
Bionicle
Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex
F1 2002
Nascar: Dirt to Daytona
Piglet's Big Game
GBA: (4)
Backyard Hockey
Bomberman Max 2: Blue Advance
Razor: Freestyle Scooter
Sega Smash Pack Advance (Ecco, Sonic Spinball, Golden Axe)
Bascally, about $520 in the hole - 103 games (5 doubles).
I must be crazy...
By the way, having a "complete" list is damn near impossible. Ricter's list is a great start, but there are MANY games not on there.
My Advice, and Rule of Thumb:
If it's more than 6-8 months old, try it. Get it scanned, because you never know. Also, if it has a small price sticker on it, most of the time, you're in luck.
Some prices to look for, on those "price gun" stickers: $54.96, $15.96, $19.6, $9.96 (see a pattern?)
Anyway, good luck to all.
See my other thread on page 8 for the 5 doubles that I have up for trade.
Peace,
Steve
