totally in agreement with markko, if it's not a new release basically it's probably on sale.

I'm quite happy with all that I picked up...woulda loved to score the mega man games on gba...except that battle network game...ugh.

Quite honestly, I wonder if it would be easier to make a list of games NOT on sale.

Also, any luck so far on price matching?
Any stores with Disgaea? Besides Gamestop? Its not like the game is really rare, its just also kind of old.

I picked up 17 games on the 4th. :)

One game I did not see listed that I got for $4.99 is Backyard Football for GC.

Not all were at CC, but this is what I purchased today...ones with (CC) mean purchased at CC. I'm posting this twice, once in here to show off what I picked up, and two as a separate thread because I have an unrelated question about one..

Posted: Tue Jul 06, 2004 6:17 pm Post subject: My onslaught of purchases today

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I went CC hunting today, too bad most of the shit I did see earlier that I didn't know was on the 'list' was no longer there...like Mega Man Zero 2. Most like Ikaragu, Metal Gear Solid 2, Viewtiful Joe, etc were all gone. Damn it. Even games CC had that were in mass, like Super Mario Kart Super Circuit were gone.

Anyways...here's what I picked up. Some weren't from CC, so I'll put (CC) next to games and shit I got there.

PS...I returned that 32X that was missing the cable and got my $20 back on that. Okay...

GBA:

Lufia: The Ruins of Lore (CC) $4.99 NEW
Lufia: The Legend Returns (CC) $4.99 NEW
Super Street Fighter II Turbo Revival (CC) $4.99 NEW
F-Zero: Maximum Velocity (CC) $4.99 NEW
Bomberman Tournament (CC) $4.99 NEW
Lunar Legend (CC) $4.99 NEW
Final Fight One (CC) $4.99 NEW

PS2:

Unlimited Saga (CC) $14.99 NEW
Castlevania: Lament of Innocence (CC) $14.99 NEW
Eternal Ring (CC) $4.99 NEW
MDK2 Armaggedon (CC) $4.99 NEW
Dark Cloud (CC) $4.99 NEW

X-BOX:

Rayman 3 Hoodlum Havoc (CC) $4.99 NEW
Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee (CC) $4.99 NEW

GC:

Spy Hunter (CC) $4.99 NEW
Defender (CC) $4.99 NEW

N64:

Rayman 2 The Great Escape $19.99 NEW (figured I'd buy since I bought the 3rd one haha)

GAME GEAR:

(A BUNDLE...

Game Gear System (with completely flat screen - glass version?), with official GG Battery Pack, official Super Wide Gear (magnifier), official AC adaptor, official GG 'soft' carrying case (Note: to hold all this shit mentioned already plus a TV tuner (wasn't included) plus 12 games), and games...

Batman Returns
The Jungle Book
Mortal Kombat 2
James Pond II
Sonic The Hedgehog 2 w/ Tails
Sonic The Hedgehog
Columns
Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story

....all this GG stuff - USED, $25.00)

LD:

The Freddy Mercury Tribute Concert 2LD $5.00 USED
Duran Duran - Dancing On The Valentine 8" LD $1.00 USED

CD:

Burzum - Daudi Balders $5.00 (giving it a second chance) USED
Trouble - The Skull $1.00 (I already have this) USED
TT Quick - Metal Of Honor $1.00 (strange to find this!) USED
Ozzy Osbourne - Diary Of A Madman (original- 2nd copy, mine is scratched up and this is mint) $6.00 USED

LP:

Guns N Roses - Welcome To The Sessions 2LP bootleg $10.00 USED

That's it.

Question...is the screen on the FLAT SCREENED (glass?) Game Gear normally so fucking bright? I have the rounded screen one and it is not this bright. EVERYTHING looks super washed out unless I hold it at a certain angle, which isn't straight on (I have to tilt it a bit). My rounded one isn't this washed out and bright. Also, the screen has noticeable "sections" to it, being three vertical equal vertical columns making up the screen. They don't all appear the same exact brightness (meaning why I notice it), but they all work.

My tally from actual 'sale' items @ $4.99 is.... 14.

I want more but I hit everything in the area..not many CC's around here. TONS of BB's, though. Wish there were CC's nearby every BB.

that's how i managed to get G&G on the list. I had a hunch it would ring up.

also, anyone ever bother trying Halo?

Yes, much like Best Buy recently did, CC is clearing out older games for cheap. An official list hits Tuesday but the price drops are already in effect in the computer, so I scanned as much as I could in my free time today at work to see what rang up cheap. Here are my findings:

GBA:
Shining Soul
Robotech: Macross Saga

ps2:
Aliens vs Predator
Bloody Roar 4
Devil May Cry 2
Frequency
Jet X20
Rygar
Robot Alchemic Drive
Roadkill
Sled Storm
Ico
Metropolismania
My Street

Xbox:
Aliens vs Predator
Crimson Sea
Toejam & Earl III
Dino Crisis 3
Burnout 2
Evil Dead
State of Emergency
Roadkill

GCN:
MegaMan Battle Network

These (above) are all titles I have confirmed personally (and can remember). I have speculated on some others that are probably $4.99 and they are listed as follows:

Monster Rancher 3 (ps2)
Mark of Kri (ps2)
Primal (ps2)
Super Bust a Move (ps2)
Drake (Xbox)
Dragons Lair 3D (Xbox)
Dave Mirra 2 (GCN)
E.T. (GBA)
Dead to Rights (GCN)
Big Mutha Truckers (all 3)

I have no idea if the list of markdowns is completed yet, as some I really expected to be on there aren't at the $4.99 pricepoint yet. They may just be doing a few per day and doing the rest tomorrow or Tuesday, I have no idea. This isn't set to be advertised at all until the 10th, but I've already had one CAG regular come into my store looking for certain titles, so the word is out. Get it while the gettin's good!

I live in Louisville, KY. THere wasnt jack at the local one here. They had a few ps2/xbox/gba, but all crap games. Ended up getting HIgh Heat Baseball 2004 and Wheel of Fortune for ps2. I didnt check the other 3 stores, might have to run out to those tommorow. And that one had no game cube games what so ever

No good, folks. I went to Toys R Us and CompUSA. No pricematch because it looked like a clearance (couldn't BS my way out... kind of hard to anyway). Best Buy had ZERO games that CC had on sale, so I couldn't even test. :o

I went yesterday and only found 5 games I wanted. I went back today on a whim, andnthey had a BUNCH more out. Myself and 3 others probably bought 60 combined. I grabbed 11 myself. I couldn't find the ones I really wanted though: Evil Dead, Futurama, and Wallace and Grommit.

How many of you think CC may just pull the $4.99 sales ad altogether when most games are cleaned out and they'll just put the rest in the bargain bin until they sell out? It makes no sense to spend thousands of dollars when words of mouth works so well.

Hmm, I almost can't help but wonder if this is how they wanted it to play out... Hey, you never know. ;-)

Went back today armed with a list and bought 7 more games, although both the circut city's now had $4.99 bargin bins out most of the games were still on the shelves. I bought:

Boktai (gba) - Me
Dark Cloud (non GH PS2) - Me
PaRappa the Rappa (PS2) - Paul
Pikmin (GC) - Me
NBA Streets (GC) - Paul
Rayman 3 (XboX) - Paul
New Legends (XboX) - Paul

Although while I was shopping around the 2d Circut City an employee was also prowling the shelves with a list pulling games. I don't know if they were going to the back room or the bargin bins but they didn't seem to grab any I wanted anyway.

Even if they wanted to, it's way too late to be changing the ads. They're probably already printed up at this point. That's not going to happen.

Okay, now I'm confused.

How come some of the games that people are buying are ringing up for them at $4.99, but when I go to my local CC, the same exact title, for the same exact console is at ful/reduced sticker price?

Did CC correct the mistake?

For example, I just came back from a CC earlier this evening and I wanted to pick up "Medal Of Honor: Underground" for the GBA, but it was still full price at $19.99. Once I got home, I started browsing this topic and found out that someone else bought MOH:U for $4.99 at their CC? What gives?

Without reading the whole threads/posts ..(Just the Topic)..I decided to stop in a Circuit City today and see what they had in $5.00 games..
(They had "some"games sales in Toys R Us $7.99 games)

I get to Circuit City and two guys sort of run past me and go into the gaming section..Both guys are carrying white papers in their hands.
I'm curious now,So I head to the Gaming section before checking out anything else.
My instant thought is these guys are buying up the $5.00 games..

I see the two guys scurrying around moving/looking all through the games/cursing,bitching at each other and looking at printed lists of games that they brought with them....I'd say in the amount of 40-60 games.

I'm being nosey and I can clearly see the game lists..Plus I'm hoping these guys will lead me to the $5.00 games..
(Just watch what they pick up)NOTE: No games on the shelves are marked $5.00

They don't find anything as I watch them, they look through dozens of games...They are totally disgusted and one says to the other.(loud)
"We are wasting our time here, lets fkn go to another Circuit City" ....then he starts talking in another language like Greek or something..
I think It was clear to them that I was looking for the same thing for a was flat out talking about it near them to my wife..We were both looking
(Was that You?) :P (I'm was wearing a Grey Gamecube shirt)

Then my wife says I passed up the display they have of $5.00 games..Oh..Ok..There's a Cardboard Display behind an Xbox Display/play unit..It's not big and will only hold 50-60 games.
I check it out while the two guys still look around..they see this Cardboard Display but don't bother to look and leave with nothing ..
Which makes me think..were they actually looking for $5.00 games (?)or are the games I'm looking at just the usual Crap of the crap, always $5.00 pile.
They had another Rack with piles of $14.99 Games in it..(Xbox/GC/PS2)next to it.

I considered buying a few of the $5.00 games,they had like 30 left,Nothing special though..Nothing that I found to be a game I always wanted....(Xbox/GC/PS2)
A good amount of Sports titles were there(pass)

So I picked up Road Trip..only because I wanted to pick this game up before in a bargain rack..
http://img7.photobucket.com/albums/v21/Chris1/CCity.jpg
All the $5.00 games have the $4.99 sticker on them in this Cardboard Display ..

I'm going to go to that Circuit City again on Friday and maybe another.
I want to get a better look at some of the games in that rack..I may pick up some more.

Just curious, did anybody elses CC limit them to only 5 games per day? Mine pulled this shit with me, they saw me pulling out all the $4.99 games and put up these signs saying limit 5 games while I was not looking. So what I did was, I had my dad buy 5, a customer pulled at random buy 5 LOL and myself buy 5. After that I just kept coming back for more.

Thanks for the AWESOME heads up :rocker: Take Care Everyone

digitpress, Jim...Are you finding these on the shelf marked $5.00 or ..?

Thanks..

they are not marked at 5 bucks at all. Just go through the actual different platform sections and look for anything that is around 6-12 months old. You can pretty much guess all the titles that are 5 bucks. Just take a look at some of the lists and you'll get a good idea of what kinda games will be 5 bucks. Ignore the bins. There's nothing in there. Don't really know what's up with that. If you're looking for the good stuff it's going to be hiding around the shelves, just flip through all of it.

Then again, some circuit cities pulled all the titles....so if the games look really sparse and there's a lot of facings of a game, they probably pulled everything. In that case I'd say try back on the 11th. Good luck.

Tritoch

When I went on the 5th, every $5 game was in one of three separate clearance bins (one for GCN, one Xbox, one PS2/PSX/GBA) and clearly marked (except for the Pikmin I snagged). I double-checked the shelves and there wasn't a single one there.

Y'know, I wish it was even worth my time to look. There's a guy who owns the 2 mom and pop game stores here in Indy and I've followed (not on purpose) him into Meijers before and watched him scoop up all the $14.99 sale games to re-sell in his store not to mention when everyone was blowing our the last of the Dreamcast games, I couldn't find shit anywhere but his stores.

I know, it's the same thing a lot of you are going through, but I know who buys up all the stuff in my area. It's not just "sum guy", he has a name and a face.

I know what you mean, I went into my CC and was getting a lot of games for my collection, and this lady next to me is on the phone with probably her husband and she lists every game she sees and he tells her which ones to grab. She doesn't grab one copy though, she grabs them all. She had a full cart and it was so annoying, I was very tempted to take the games and put them back on the shelf. You know those are alll heading to eBay too.

Anyway on with what I got -

GAMECUBE
The Scorpian King
Kelly Slaters Pro Surfer
Nickolodean Party Blast
Fairly Odd Parents Breakin' Da Rules
Legends of Wrestleing
Wrestlemania XIX
Rayman Arena
Universal Studios

I wanted so many more too like NFL 2k3, F1 2002, Fire Blade, etc. I didn't look at PS2 or Xbox though.

I didn't have internet access all weekend, plus I had to work. By the time, I got there yesterday, the f---ing bastards had pulled everything except Legacy of Kain: Blood Omen and Robin Hood (both PS2). The Circuit City employees laughed and said that they had already made their purchases.

One thing when I try to get those games on eBay, I set a limit on how much I'm willing to pay, I know there're a lot of games bought from CC, most games my upper limit is $9.99, when you add the shipping, it's only a few bucks below $20, which I'd rather get from my local stores.

Getting them on eBay and jacking up those game prices will only encourage more people to do this later on and the one who reaps the most profits is eBay itself (listing fees and final value fees).

Higher priced and more sought after titles like Guilty Gear X2 I set myself no more than $15, anything more than that I'd rather get it from my local TRU for $30.

I'm hoping more people use common sense by supporting their local game stores and not overbidding on eBay.

As I understand it, the 11th is when the sale officially starts, so the only thing that is going to happen is the sale items will be adverised in the flyers. After reading through this thread it seems that some stores have taken all the sale games off the shelves, and presumably will put them back out on the 11th. However, at most stores the games are already out so there will be nothing different on the 11th. If you've been to a store and couldn't find anything at all it might be a good idea to head back then.

I went to a few CC"s near me. They all had something, but none of them had Ikaruga (GC) or Rez (PS2). I picked up some, but for the most part was disapointed. I was out of town over the weekend so I missed out on the good titles. The one store had all of the $5 games in the bin. The other ones I had to look through the shelves.

Interesting... This is the kind of news I've been hoping to hear. I've been kind of bitter and disappointed with my whole experience, so I've been hoping for any indication that there might be a reason to go back for the official sale. It would be pretty damn retarded to advertise the sale when the place is already cleaned out. I can just imagine people reading about the sale in the paper or something, standing out there Sunday morning to be the first in, and going in only to find nothing there, thinking "What gives?"

I saw tons of empty spots on the shelves when I went, but the bin was rather small (it was practically full with only the small number of crappy titles there). I can't imagine the tons of games fitting into it when they first started moving the games. Perhaps there are tons of good games there just sitting in storage until the sale officially starts...

Damn. It pays to stay connected with DP, huh? X_x

So, I've got about 45 minutes right now until my nearest Circuit City closes. Anyone think it's worth making the trip, or should I just fight the masses on Sunday (when I can make it to both local stores)?

I'd really like to find Okage - always wanted to play that one. Maybe pick up a few more Xbox games, too...

Oh, one other aside. Maybe it's a store-level decision, but as far as I know Target (the store I work for) does NOT match prices any longer. Could be different from district to district, though, so YMMV, I guess.

Finally, some of y'all have way too much stomach for bargain-hunting. I'll be happy just to get five or six good games - no need for a basket-full. LOL

My advice at this point is to call your local Circuit City before going. The ones around me (in St. Louis) have for the most part pulled their titles and have them in a special bin. Every store that I went to told me that once they are gone they will be gone and they won't be getting anymore in. They are not holding any back for Sunday so it is highly likely that they will be gone by Sunday. The one store had hundreds of games yesterday and when I went back today it looked like at least half of their stock had sold. If you want any chance to get anything I wouldn't wait any longer. A lot of what is left (at least in St. Louis) is crap.

I think every CC handles the mess (=good thing for us) caused by the management differently.

Yesterday I was again at a CC I shopped at on Sunday. They pulled almost all the games for sale off the shelves and will put them out this Sunday. (according to an employee and the manager) Two days ago I bought games there shamelessly (one of each game I wanted). I checked thouroughly, and they were right.

Today I was at a third CC which I didn't go to on Saturday and Sunday. They had all their $5 games in a bin.

The two CCs introduced a limit of 3 for the same game, which is very reasonable, fair, and should have been the case from the beginning.

Both stores didn't get any restockings on Tuesday or Wednesday (according to employees who tell you usually the truth unlike management in these cases).

I got already 25 games on Saturday and Sunday, but couldn't resist the $5 bargain bin today...

GC
ZooCube
Nascar Dirt to Daytona
Jimmy Neutron
Jimmy Neutron Jet Fusion
Top Gun

PS1
Final Fantasy Origins
Dragon Warrior 7
Dragon Valor

PS2
Evergrace
Haven
Dr. Muto
Activision Anthology
ATV 2
Roadkill
Roadtrip
Twisted Metal Black
Freestyle Metal X
Freaky Flyers
Moto GP2

XBOX
Azurik
Syberia
Harry Potter Chamber of Secrets
SSX Tricky
Moto GP
XGRA
Tony Hawk 3

27 games, on 10 I had my eye on it for some time, only the three PS1 RPGs I owned already.

That makes 51 games since Saturday, that's what I buy usually altogether in a lifecycle of a system!! Geez! ...and I skipped all the traditional sports games (except soccer) in which I have no interest; and I skipped many other games too.

6 games I got for free (the cashiers made a mistake and overlooked them); 51 games for $230 is an incredible deal, among them MMx7, PN03, Eternal Ring, Crimson Sea, Evergrace, Azurik, Mario Party 4, Dr. Muto, and many others which have great gameplay value.

This was an ideal sale for second and third in-line-games, some quirky and innovative games with some appeal and flaws in execution, all of them great to have for such a price.

For all of you who missed out on the sale...it's not all that; I missed the Best Buy sale, and I lived very well without it.

One concern and anger I share however; the professional ebay grabbers who clean everything out and won't give others the chance to get these deals too. Two games I can understand, but for heaven's sake, don't grab more. It's always the early bird catches the worm, great if there are is only one or two worms; but if there are many hungry birds, the early bird doesn't need FIFTEEN worms.

I went to my CC about 3 or 4 days ago and they were basically just starting to put them out but I did fine two games I thought I might like. I went back two days later and they had more so I picked 3 more up. All but one of the 5 games I wound up with were for the PS2...

Herdy Gerdy
Super Bust-A-Move
Frequency
PaRappa the Rapper 2

FIFA Soccer 2003 was the only game I got for another system...this was for the XBox. I've never been a soccer fan (other than this, the most recent soccer game I have would be for the SNES...maybe...if I don't have the one I'm thinking of, the only other soccer game I might have would be on the 5200) but I thought it'd be nice to have one good recent footy game. I'm now off until Sunday so I may just wind up there within the next few days to see if they put up any others. So far there hasn't been much of what I'd call must-have-titles.

I finally got in on the $5 goodness, albeit 4 days late:

GBA
Bomberman Max 2 Blue
Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance
Duke Nukem
Jet Grind Radio
Lufia
Megaman Battle Network
Pinobee
Shining Soul
Yu-Gi-Oh Dungeon Dice

GC
Namco Museum

PS1
Chrono Cross (GH)
Final Fantasy Origins
Spider-Man 2 (GH)

PS2
Dynasty Tactics
Forever Kingdom
Gundam Federation: Zeon Vs. (the first one)
Jet X20
Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver
Metropolismania
Naval Ops: Warship Games
Quake III
Robin Hood: Defender of the Crown

XB
Commandos 2
Indiana Jones
Speed Kings
Totaled

Also, I bought Pro Race Driver (XB) yesterday and traded it into FYE. With my employee discount, I got a new Sony brand PS2 memory card and $5 back!

Last night, I went out in a thunderstorm during my half-hour break from work, but it was worth it. After the first 18 games, the register locked up, so the guy ended up throwing Gladius for PS2 in the bag by mistake. I got it for free!

I'll probably pick up Spy Hunter and Dead to Rights for the Cube later. There were so many copies of them just sitting there. Does anyone know if that Ephermal Fantasia game is rare? There were three of them left.

Also, I noticed that people had games held for them behind the counter. Those were Superman: Man of Steel (XB), Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit 2, and X-Men: Next Dimension (both GC). Just a heads up.

Finally, anybody willing to trade some Circuit City GBA, GC, PS2, and XB games for my sealed Dreamcast games (not acquired from CC and sitting patiently in my tradebox)? PM me please. I might even consider commons at this point...

My CC has two [small] bins out that say "$4.99 Video Game Clearance." They weren't out there Monday, and were both less than half full. I didn't see any titles on the shelves, or in the regular discount bin.

I went on Sunday & Monday and picked up:

Crazy Taxi 3 (Xbox)
Clock Tower 3 (PS2)
Defender (GC)
Mega Man NT (GC)

Ty the Tasmanian Tiger (GC)
P.N. 03 (GC)
Mega Man X7 (PS2)
Summoner 2 (PS2)
Mega Man & Bass (GBA)
Boktai (GBA)
Shining Soul (GBA)

Those were all just on the shelves, marked at regular price. Then I go back today looking for a CD and they have two cardboard bins in the front labeled "$4.99 Game Clearance" so I picked up some more, some of these I didn't see out earlier this week:

Disney's Extreme Skate Adventure (GC)
Vexx (Xbox)

Rayman 3 (Xbox)
Prisoner of War (Xbox)
Mega Man X6 (PS1)
Rayman 3 (GBA)
Donald Duck Advance (GBA)

If you haven't played it, ZOE 2: The Second Runner is an excellent title. It's light years beyond the quality of the original, and it features a guest appearance by the Vic Viper!

Returned to Circuit City to see the employees continue to fill up the bins with games that I never saw on the shelves (Plenty of PS1 games like Fear Effect 2, Mega Man X4, etc). As I was paying for my games, the cashier told me there was a "only 3 games (not same title, but individual games) per customer" limit, so she had to ring up 2 tickets. Here's what I got:

Final Fight One
Boktai
Yu-Gi-Oh: Dungeon Dice Monsters
Yu-Gi-Oh: World Wide Edition (My brother's eyes lit up when I showed him this...)

There weren't very many Xbox/PS2/GC games left, but there were plenty of PS1 and GBA games...

Only one CC in Abq and the sale hasn't gone public here yet. I went yesterday and the only two things that struck my fancy at the time were F-Zero for GBA and Lego Rock Raiders for PS1.

Then I thought Iron Man for GBA might be nice, and when I went back to pick it up today it was gone :( . Everything had been put into a bin and there were three - count `em - three CC employees ransacking the bin for their personal purchases and ignoring customers all around them. By the time it was safe enough to get close to the bin all that was left was sports and Barbie titles.

Maybe they'll put out more tomorrow, but I don't think I'll go back once the ad goes out.

Hit a couple of the stores tonight that I hit over the weekend to see if they put out the discount bins. Both did, but there are still games on the shelves that ring up as $4.99 that weren't in the bins. Here's what I scored tonight:

GBA:
Driver 2 Advance
Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow (didn't see this on anyone's lists yet, great find!)

GC:
Wave Race: Blue Storm

PS2:
Pro Race Driver

XBox:
Evil Dead: Fistful of Boomstick
Pirates of the Caribbean

I don't even have an XBox yet, but I couldn't pass those two (especially Pirates) up at that price. Hopefully I'll run into a cheap XBox soon (see my other thread about that).

YES! HOW DARE THEY TAKE ADVANTAGE IN ONE OF THE FEW WAYS THEY CAN. ASSHOLES! I snatched up the last copy of several games at my store and I don't apologize for it. You would have done the same thing. I did, however, offer up to customers games I had set aside for myself that I was undecided about getting (Futurama, Dino Crisis 3).

I was gullible enough to think that the sale started on the 11th, so when I went on a whim today and they'd already lost all the really good titles (Dammit! Wanted Ikaruga and Viewtiful Joe!). I did pick up Mad Maestro and Turok though. Why am I so gullible to this stuff?

I might have to go back though, those five dollar PS1 titles looked all right...

There were a few 'undecided' titles for me to pick up or not when I went thursday, like Resident Evil Gaiden for GBC... I'll pick it up Sunday if it's still there. If not, no biggie. Hopefully it will be there haha. I made another round today. Of the 3 stores within an hour drive of where I live, two of them said they are not getting any more, and one said they have GC/PS2/XBOX games held in the back and they will put those out on Sunday (they have the PS1/GBA games out already). I will make rounds to all 3 stores on Sunday and see what I can get.

Today I got:

GBA: Earthworm Jim
PS2: Stretch Panic
PS1: Resident Evil 2, Dragon Valor (this one might suck, I have no idea...generic RPG...?)

GBA
Boxing Fever (Stay far away from this one)
Final Fight One
F-Zero
Konami Arcade Advance

X-Box
Batman Dark Tomorrow
